Port O Call in Newry and Mourne

Lunch with family. Hadn’t been for a few years as I don’t live at home anymore. Called in as I used to enjoy. Food and service was excellent, good portion sizes. Good menu, lots of choice to suit all. Highly recommended.

First time here and I arrived after eight, not knowing they close at that time. However I was welcomed in by owner. I fancied two starters. I ordered crab claws with chilli jam, and prawn cocktail. Only to be told a minute or so later they had ran out. I settled for a portion of scampi. The starters came on a slate as a main. The five crab claws with chilli jam were very nice. A bit of wet lettuce and tomato let it down. Bit of Asian slaw would have lifted it. The scampi was really fresh and delicious with Marie rose sauce. Again a dash of Worcester sauce and asian slaw would have lifted it instead of wet lettuce. Two pieces of wheaten and butter came with it,and a small lemon slice. I ordered a coke float, but the can of coke was not chilled and the ice cream in glass was skimpy. But I was glad of a sit down and staff were excellent. At £13.50 it was a fair price. Menu needs a bit more tweaking, but I will go again.

Had the skippers & skimmers breakfasts - cooked to perfection with all fresh ingredients. Coffee was the perfect strength & came with a lovely biscuit on the side. Staff extremely friendly & prices very reasonable, highly recommend this eating establishment.

To say this was probably our worst ever culinaty experience would probably not be an exaggeration, Three bowls of soup with white bread?? How difficult is that??? Very obviously as it took 50 minutes and arrived with stale bread!! There is a Blood yAsda 5 mins from this Dungeon and they couldn't get reasonably fresh bread!!! in 50 mins they could have baked the bread!!!! my teenage daughter does it regularly. Soup was tepid when arrive too so begs the question " what were they doing for 50 minutes???? obviously a particularly riviting episode of the Chase was on. Because they certainly were not making Soup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went in with my father and 2 kids. Upon sitting noticed 3 microwaves. The lasagne was heated withtin an inch of its life, bottom layer was stiff as cardboard and 1/3rd of the top was black. My dad's chicken was beyond dry, he needed a drink to swallow each bite and my sons potato bread was black. The wait for food and the table to be cleaned was ages even though they werent busy. My son had pavlova and the coulis would have made my neighbours toes curl. The bottom of the pavlova was soggy. The pictures from other reviews made me choose here and was very disappointed.

Had a lovely meal here on a surprisingly busy Monday night. We were able to sit outside which we loved. They don't have a drinks licence but you can bring your own and ASDA is a 5 min walk away. I had a wonderful crab claw starter, my husband had potato skins which was just ok. I then wanted scampi but it was all finished which was disappointing. Instead, I had honey chilli chicken which was tasty and my husband had great fish and chips. Bill was only £28. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful.

Call in here occasionally and am never disappointed especially with the steak sandwich. Friendly staff and reasonably priced

We both had chicken dishes. Chicken very dry. Stir fry poorly seasoned. Would probably not go there again.

We are a family of two adults and four children with ages from 11 to 3 and this was one of the most welcoming and nicest breakfasts we have had. The man played host and chef and delivered us all great food. The kids instantly took to him as he made us all feel at home. We were just passing by but their menu had good choice. Coffee and brown bread were delish.

I visited this place on 1st June 2021 at 1 o'clock with my wife and kids, we entered and where seated at table 11, this is where it all went down hill, the table had food from a previous dinner smeared all over it, the chairs had food on them we had to wipe clean before seating. We ordered our meals and a jug of water, after 15 minutes the water and glasses arrived, absolutely filthy dirty, the cutlery then arrived which was so dirty I felt like walking out, I should have done this tbh. I ordered the skippers fry, I didn't receive this i recieved a small breakfast, 1 sausage instead of 2 1 bacon instead of 2 no black pudding at all, beans where ice cold, soda and potato bread tasted old and stale, kids meals where deep fried, chicken dry and tough, sausages had a horrible after taste like a sour taste. We only visited here as it had gotten decent reviews, the people of killeel must have pretty low standards, never again shall we return to this place.

Visited Port o Call with my friend for lunch. I ordered a panini with a side salad which was nice and hot. Enjoyed it. My friend got a breaded plaice with chips. Chips tasted like they were made in old oil, they were bitter. Also she got a milk shake (with no or very little ice cream?) with 2 plastic straws. I have to admit I find it very disappointing, in the world which is drowning in plastic there are still places serving drinks with something we can avoid easily. Overall service is good. Staff polite.

Myself and my friends had lunch here today. Fantastic menu, there are always lovely lunch choices.. My meal was so tasty and really good value. You always get service with a smile here. Would recommend. The atmosphere is so friendly and the owner always has time to say hello. My favourite restaurant in kilkeel.

Mmmm The best for miles around We got it served with lattice fries . Its suck a great feed .. proper soul food .. delicious.. We keep coming back for it time and time again .. Stay all helpful

Called in here for the most delicious & beautifully presented chicken open salad. So delicious! Also treated myself to one of the homemade caramel squares. Yet again absolutely delightful. The owner Stephen is so warm & friendly as are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them & they are very attentive to the customer. A thoroughly enjoyable & relaxing dining experience. Definitely be back again! Soon!!!

I had the steak ciabatta sandwich with onions, mushrooms & peppered sauce. All freshly prepared & cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious, as were the hand cut chips. I wasn't going to but did end up having dessert. My banoffee pie was tasty & beautifully presented. Service was first class and Stephen (chef/owner) is so friendly & welcoming that your dining experience won't be forgotten

Three of us ordered the Louisiana Chicken with lattice fries . The other ordered Christmas dinner . Food came out . We all were very impressed food pipping hot and plentiful. And we have to say it was dam tasty and good . So much so we had no room for dessert . So folks do not miss this place . It's a must go to .

We arrived for lunch. Great menu choices. I enjoyed the steak with chilli in a basket. My mum had fish and chips and 2 others had lasagne. The lasagne was somewhat disappointing the pasta sheets tasted gloupy and too.much cheese sauce not very much mince or Bolognese .They don't serve alcohol . In fact very few places in killkeel do. It was not the worst we have had but could be better.

Stopped at Kilkeen for an overnight stay. Stumbled on this little restaurant. The servings were huge, the service exemplary, the prices ultra cheap and the food wholesome and tasty. If you want a cheap, filling, tasty meal, this is the place. Food cooked with love. Recommended.

Visited with my husband, met by friendly staff. Decor is slightly nautical with wooden booths, rustic style. Menu has a good choice of fish, burgers, steak and chicken. I had steak ciabatta with peppered sauce, lattice fries. Portions good size, food fresh.

Port O Call is a beautiful quaint restaurant set at the heart of the harbour town of kilkeel. It is charming and rustic with a friendly warming atmosphere that makes you feel at home as soon as you enter. The food is scrumptious and there is a wide range to choose from plus there is the added benefit of a glutton free menu which is also available. The owner/manager Stephen does an excellent job in making you feel right at home and the service is impeccable along with the very reasonable price. Brilliant for all occasions this is an unforgettable wee restaurant and I highly recommend you go and enjoy a really worthwhile eating experience. ..

The food was alright, staff with pleasant. Our meal was interrupted by the loud speaker preachers in the village. The loud speakers gave me a headache and made our meal less than enjoyable. Not the restaurants fault but it will prevent us from visiting in the future.

Very tasty ... havnt been here in a year! Place still has lovely atmosphere,staff attentive and came to table to tell us if they had ran out of anything ie no more turkey dinosaurs, we where told this in a very friendly and professional manner which makes all the difference and the experiance positive. Again highly recommend if your visiting kilkeel

called in for a coffee and light snack, staff very pleasant food was nice and good choice on menu, prices quite good for the food

Lovely place food is so good I especially love the chilly chicken it's awesome and my favourite though so is the steak sizzler is gorgeous too the mars bar dessert that's a must have. The staff are very friendly and helpful which is a plus these days would so recommend this place you won't be disappointed definitely 5 stars ps the pictures don't even do it justice you got to try it ......

Lovely little cafe, the stir fry was excellent, loved the 'booths' inside and the service was pleasant and fast. Inexpensive and enjoyable.

We had heard that Port O Call was nice, and it looked lovely, but it lacked atmosphere and the food was disappointing. The curry seemed to have been frozen and reheated, and lacked flavour. The waitress was friendly and as accommodating, but I wouldn't be rushing back!

Had a lovely Christmas wrap something different it was tasty and didn't leave you feeling you over done it .The service was excellent.

Nice place to eat, good coffee and good food and friendly staff. we have been on a few occasions I recommend their baked pototato and the fries

Pleasant staff, friendly attentive chef, nice decor. The place has a nice, warm, homely atmosphere. Decorated with memorabilia and Tiffany lighting, over looking the town from the top of the hill.

Food always good and a very wide range. You will be spoilt for choice. Also caters for swimmers which is a bonus

We ate here on Saturday night, and the food was beautiful. There is a wide and varied menu, and the only problem was choosing what to have. I had the honey chilli chicken and hubby had the lousiana chicken, and neither disappointed. Food is reasonably priced too which is an added bonus.

Took the kids here for a treat Saturday night. All meals were fresh and really well cooked and presented. Meals were very filling and the staff were pleasant . Overall a great meal and it didn't break the bank. The premises are spotless clean and tidy and it is a nice place to sit and eat .Thanks and well done everyone .

A long established family restaurant in the centre of Kilkeel. It has a varied menu & good food. I had Chicken Tortilla, it's always tasty. My hubby's favourite is Chicken Kebab with spicy wedges. They usually have a good of desserts as well.
