First impression was freshly decorated (including plastic flowers) and pleasant reception. Evening meal was ok but vanilla ice cream was tasteless.5 waiting staff chatting while a customer tried to pay. One of the noisiest hotels, walls seemed made of paper. Breakfast plates were cold and they ran out of food.

Booked a last minute nights stay It’s a fine place to stay for one night. The rooms were very small. And the walls very thin. We could hear the next door neighbours toilets flushing and conversation. But it was clean and fine for one night. I wouldn’t want to be staying for much longer. The breakfast was nice and was included in the price we paid which I thought was reasonable compared to other hotel prices. The breakfast staff were lovely.

Went here for a quick family meal. I hadn't been to the Balmoral in a very long time. Firstly they had a great range on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the different choices and I think the menu would cater to a wide audience. The food was hit and miss. My sister's and I had a lovely meal, however my Mum and Aunt's meal wasn't great at all. They had swordfish on a bed of mash and the mash was absolutely mush, it actually looked like apple sauce or puree, in texture and colour. They actually couldn't even eat it. They said the swordfish and veg was lovely but not the mash. I think that should be a staple that shouldn't really be difficult to get right. The service was great. The restaurant decor was nice and the layout was great, plenty of space to get my rollator through without issue which can be a problem in other restaurants. Location wise it's good. Close to a lot of areas but in reality it doesn't have nice grounds, no real greenery, I think if they added a bit more planters etc it would look a lot better. Overall it was decent but I won't be rushing back.

Went to the Balmoral for mother's day 2024 the service was bad. My aunt had asked for tea and got a tea pot with hot water and no tea bags in it. We then got our starter which was lovely. We then wait and hour to an hour and a half on our main. We questioned where the main was and were told we had the extra wait because we ordered starters which is ridiculous as the chefs are normally cooking the mains while you are eating your starter. I think we waited longer than we should have as they had booked too many people in and were struggling to keep up. Def won't be back at it for mother's day again. Disappointed

Balmoral Hotel is easily one of the best hotels in the country. Built for luxury and comfort, it has everything you need in a hotel. Excellent staff, top quality food, beautiful decor and a place for all needs. Looking to go somewhere to relax and do some work? There's comfortable space to do that. Sunny day drinks? There's heated lamps outside and tables in the beer garden with lights. Unbelievable

Had a wonderful business dinner here 15 Nov 22. A well balanced menu with an excellent pairing of good quality wines Midweek special 3 Courses coming in at £55pp was certainly a very well priced menu. I had the almond crusted salmon wich was a beautiful piece of fish. Paired with a very crisp cold Chardonnay (on the advice of Adam) a very nice and talented young man. I believe he is the son of the equally talented James the proprietor and head chef. We will certainly be back just before Christmas to sample what promises to be an excellent spread of festive fare.

As ‘locals’ we used to come here at least once a week and always loved it - we’ve left several reviews to this effect. But omg this place has so gone downhill with the change of owners. We had tried a couple of times to go for dinner but they were never serving that day. It appears upstairs doesn’t seem to be getting used other than for functions. So, we gave up trying and thought we’d give lunch a try instead. The first time we tried they said they weren’t doing lunches etc. Our feeling, which may be wrong, was that they weren’t serving because the place was deserted. We should have given up at that point. However, we tried again and did manage to get lunch. The menu is very poor - absolutely nothing like it used to be. So, if you’re going expecting the standards, quality and variety of food that used to be served, please go elsewhere. There are loads of other great choices in Warrenpoint. Despite there only being 5 people in when we were there, people were waiting at the bar for 15 mins to get served. One additional couple came in, waited and left again when no-one appeared. Heaven knows where the staff were. When you did see them they appeared to be spending their time going up and down the stairs - it looks as if the food is made upstairs and brought down and then if you want any condiments they have to go back up and get them then head down again. So, in summary - the food was nothing more than cafe quality and it was bland, staff were unorganised which may be because of the apparent set up/cooking of food upstairs, there was no atmosphere because the place was practically empty (understandably so). Hopefully our experience was the result of them having a bad/off day but from seeing other reviews, it appears not. We won’t be back anytime soon.

On the ground floor of The Balmoral Hotel is their nautically styled bistro with bar at the rear. The menu offers good choices with 'fish of the day's as well as battered cod or breaded cod, with a side at £12. There are also burgers, slow-cooked brisket on ciabatta, and a host of other favourites. Starters include chilli and salt calamari, prawn cocktail on wheaten bread, which can be mains as well. Accompanying salads are nicely dressed, and sides are generous. Apart from excellent food, staff are unfailingly helpful, engaged, so create a really nice atmosphere. They also do Sunday lunches and cater for events.

Have stayed here every year for at least 7 years but it is almost unrecognizable now. The upstairs restaurant was closed, apparently for a wedding but one of the waitresses told us no goes there anymore and I suspect it is closed for good. Ate in the bar and it wasn't great. Very limited menu compared to previous years. Undercooked chips and bland fish. Should have went to the Genoa or Diamonds in the square. All of the draught beer was flat and I saw several pints being returned. They were constantly working on the gas apparently. Room was ok but noisy with bottles being sorted early in the morning and the shower was just a trickle. Breakfast was ok but won't be going back sadly. Used to be a real gem.

We had a warm welcome from the staff when we arrived for our meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxing and the views of the Lough from the windows amazing. There were ten of us in our party and the service was excellent, nobody was waiting for their food after everyone else had been served. The food was delicious but the only criticism I have was that the starters were large and we found we hadn’t room for a dessert! However, we look forward to returning.

After initially booking Restaurant 23 we were told that we had to sit down stairs in the bar, which was fine because it is a lovely location. The staff and service are excellent. However, each of us felt that our food was poor! The superfood salad was very bland, the dressing only tasted of Olive oil and not much else. The battered fish was soggy, the burger came without the bacon that was ordered. None of us finished our meal, as shown in our photos, even though we hadn't eaten since lunch! Perhaps we hit an off night, but we all left feeling very disappointed and hungry which is reflected in our rating.

I cannot praise the balmoral enough. Upon arrival we realised restaurant 23 was shut but the staff swiftly accommodated us to the bistro downstairs. After a glorious meal and excellent service by our waitresses Sara and Emily we thought we would stay for a drink. We moved into the bar which had a great feel to it. The barman Kieran was a laugh and made us feel like regulars. The Guinness was great and my wife’s cocktail was outstanding and well presented with a wide variety cocktail list. overall the food and staff 10 out of 10. Would definitely recommend and I am sure we will be back again. My view on things is if you can remember the names of the staff you’ve had a great experience.

The first patrons to order from the new menu, we were not disappointed! Food was amazing! Staff were so lovely! Very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and highly recommend anyone to come here for food. The menu has fantastic choice, the only strange thing being that there only seems to be one starter, and that is soup. That said, the soup was delicious and the homemade wheaten bread was the best I've ever tasted. They do sell it but as it's made fresh every morning you need to ring ahead to buy it. I will be doing this for my next visit. The salted caramels deserve a special mention too! Highly recommend

My wife and l stayed here overnight hoping for a relaxing break. Unfortunately the hotel was awful. There is no reception in the hotel, we had to go to the bar to find a member of staff when we arrived. We were asked to pay the full amount on arrival which we found unusual. We were shown up 3 flights of stairs with a suitcase and bag to our room without being informed that there was a lift. I had asked if possible could we have a sea view but when we did get to our room there wasn't even a window but rather a skylight. The room was a sickly shade of buff, small and uninviting. No remote control For TV even though one was supposed to be sent up. The shower was broken to add to our frustration. The only saving grace in this hotel was the food which was lovely. We found staff nice but unprofessional. On checking out no one was to be found! So strange. I had to leave the room key on the counter at the bar, so no chance to express our dissatisfaction. We won't be staying here again.

We decided to visit Restaurant 23 at the Balmoral Hotel last Friday at the last minute just for a main course and it was really tasty. My husband had the rib eye steak and reckoned it was one of the best he's had in ages. I had hake served with an oriental salad and crab spring roll and it was also delicious. We had a side order of salt n malt onion rings and creamy mash with a bottle of Chilean red (I think!) and two espressos and it was under £60. We waited for the table at the window overlooking the view of Carlingford Lough and enjoyed watching the sun go down. A nice, unexpected treat instead of having to cook on a Friday evening!

The hotel itself was undergoing a refit but we were aware of this and it staff ensured it did not effect our enjoyment. The staff were very attentive and could not have been more helpful. The breakfasts each morning were well cooked and plentiful to set you up for the day. Will be back and cannot recommend it highly enought

We have just returned from another overnight stay in the Balmoral, warrenpoint, I can't praise this hotel high enough, the staff are excellent and nothing was to much bother for them. within a couple of minute of arriving we had left out bags in our rooms and we were in the bar enjoying a pint. we had a superb deal, £99 per couple for bed and breakfast and evening meal. The food was great, the dinner was great, but the breakfast was out of this world, freshly cooked, plenty of it, lashing of tea and toast. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The staff even organised taxis for us to go to rostrevior and recommended a couple of nice pubs. Don't miss the chance to spend the night at this hotel

My aunt and I dined at the Balmoral last evening. We each picked something different from the set dinner. I has the belly of pork which was delicious cooked to perfection. I have lived in London for quite a few years and have eaten in a number of very good restaurants. I would definitely put the Balmoral in the same categoryA real find and will definitely fine there again. And of course the view from the window is second to none

The old saying that if you don't ask you don't get sprang to mind when spending a couple of nights recently at the Balmoral. When booking, we asked if we could have the room advertised on the hotel's promotional website. We got it and what a treat. The room turned out to be the bridal suite and the view over the street and Carlingford Lough made our stay all the more pleasurable.Only problem was the door handle was hanging off from the inside. A member of staff called with us to partly repair the damage before another man came to replace the lock the following day.As you would expect, there was some wood shavings on the floor after the work which lay there for the duration of our break. Cleaning up afterwards was something management should have taken care off and not to do so reflected a lack of oversight. On our first night we had a bar snack and to be honest the food was average and it was virtually impossible to engage in conversation given a likeable but very loud musician belting out songs accompanied by the karaoke. Our breakfast meals were as good as one could get and these were matched by the excellent and friendly service. No complaints here at all. We did not eat in the main restaurant which we understand has won awards in the past and we also understand that weddings are very successful. All in all, the hotel proved an enjoyable enough visit without ever hitting the high spots. A bit more attention to some aspects however could make a significant difference!

We attended a wedding at the Balmoral this weekend and just wanted to say what a great place it is. We didn't stay here, but spent lots of time in the bar when not at the wedding! The bar staff were all fantastic, really friendly and helpful. There was a wide choice of drinks available and really reasonably priced. The pool room was a hit with the kids as was the fact they showed lots of sport (including the Froch v Groves fight). Friday evening we had some curry which was great and then Saturday lunchtime we had sandwiches which were freshly prepared and very nice!As for the wedding, wow! The ceremony took place in restaurant 23 with it's stunning views of the sea! A really lovely room. And the function suite was transformed. The staff on hand at the wedding were fantastic and kept everything moving and the food, particularly the two starters, were fantastic!Definitely well worth a visit!

We had our wedding reception here on 10th may 2014. All the staff were a pleasure to deal with particularly donna who was our main contact for any arrangments we had. The choice of wedding packages were fantastic- we opted for the delux package which meant all we had to arrange was a band for the evening( we were also provided with a list of recommended bands- great help) menu, room decor, dj etc were all part of the package- great value for money and took out any unnecessary stressing:) the room itself was stunning and the staff set up a few extra bits that I provided. The food was fantastic also, our guests were very impressed by the high standard of dining and service- we had a few special dietry requests for some of our guests to which to hotel did not fail to impress. We were also given a complimentary night in the honeymoon suite that night and decided to stay a further two nights in the suite- beautiful room, beautifully decorated with a stunning view- the high standard of service continued throughout our stay. We had dinner in the hotel's restraunt 23 which was beautiful also- we will definitely be back as will alot of our guests as they were very impressed by what the balmoral has to offer! Thanks again to all the staff who made our wedding day so memorable by providing a relaxed, friendly and professional service! Oonagh and chris

On arrival - first shock no reception - second shock - bedroom stank of stale smoke. Ordered a ham sandwich and received it on plain bread not buttered. Night time was a nightmare with people running up and down the corridor banging on all the doors and trying the handles. The one and only positive was the restaurant which served good food and friendly restaurant & bar staff. we had a present for a 2 night stay but sadly we checked out on the second afternoon!!!

We had their afternoon tea - waiter was very professional - plenty to eat - lovely sea view from restaurant. We used Groupon vouchers - the normal price would have been 30 pounds for 2 which I think is expensive.

I was in Warrenpoint in August for the International Irish Currach Championship. What a fun time and what a great town! While I did not stay at The Balmoral, the bar was the central meeting spot for everyone. There were so many people that we were spread out at all of the hotels. I must mention the bartender- Sean. He was professional, friendly, fun, and really took care of us. He patiently answered all of our many questions about Ireland, places around town and made great drinks. The food was very good, the best fish n' chips I've ever had!
