Delicious impromptu early supper at this lovely spot. Great atmosphere, watching from bar stools as the the chefs skilfully prepare & serve the food. Fresh, authentic Italian food served with flair & passion. A real delight.

Food was very tasty, well presented and served tapas style which is great for sharing. They have an organic wine list which wasn’t amazing but that didn’t deter from the experience. The order of the dishes coming could be improved and at times service felt rushed but overall we had a good experience.

We sat downstairs around the kitchen counter, which isn’t roomy, but gives you access to instant service at all times and a front row seat to watch your food being prepared. I had three dishes: creamy bufalo burrata, pan con tomate & rocket, tenderstem broccoli, egg yolk & pecorino, and fresh taglierini – hand picked dorset crab & bottarga. Each dish was beautifully presented and immaculate when it came to taste. I couldn’t fault anything. Reasonably priced for a MICHELIN star restaurant.

We went early on a Saturday evening and firstly the food is very good, the pasta with crab was amazing but £14 for a portion of broccoli seemed very expensive. The room was cold but not as cold as the toilets which were freezing cold. It is a combination of great Italian food and a tapas type way of eating and you will need 5-7 dishes for two people to feel you have eaten, this is besides dessert - the panna cotta was beautiful. now this might not seem too bad BUT this means your bill will be £100-£140 before you have even smelt the wine list or had a Negroni to start the evening, excluding service charge. Sitting at the bar you have the chance to watch the cooking happen in front of you which is good

Make sure you sit at the chefs table at the open kitchen as the experience itself is fantastic. The food is delicious and they were very knowledgeable about the wine and recommended a bottle that suited us perfectly. This is one of my favourite restaurants I have visited in the UK and the icing on the cake (literally) was a cake and a candle for my birthday! I would rate it 6 out of 5 if I could!

I am so glad I took the advice of a friend and ate at Popolo. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I sat at the bar and watched the chef do his magic. I had crispy olives, calamari and ravioli. All were excellent. Love that the chef was there to make suggestions on what to try. It well be on my repeat list in London.

Went here for a wedding anniversary after seeing a great review in a well known magazine. Requested a seat at the kitchen as on previous reviews this was the place to sit. My wife and I picked our dishes which are small sharing plates and we had all 5 dishes served within 45 minutes, no interaction with the staff( a smile would have been nice) £175 for 45 minutes, we both left very disappointed. Went back to our hotel who saved the day. So wanted to like this , the food was ok but not exceptional. I am happy to discuss this with the owner / head chef

We went here seeing it was Michelin recommended. The place is quite small and downstairs it’s eating around the bar only. Upstairs I did notice a few tables. When we arrived it seemed we were the only ones there. It was 8pm. And I thought we’d entered the wrong place. Every member of staff seemed to be looking at us. We were sat at the bar and given menus. The menu was ok, not to much to choose from, but meat eaters beware there wasn’t a huge amount. Best dish for me was the pasta dish . But it never blew my head off. My wife was very disappointed as she didn’t eat a few things on the menu. And the two things she wanted they had sold out of . I thought the meal over all was average, would I go back … probably not .

First of all, the place is small and cosy. So if one is not prepared for that, don't visit. Vibe is super trendy with careful attention to the interiors and background music. Service was excellent and friendly. Price is at least mid range. The very best part of evening was the food. The pescatarian options are astounding. The folks at the next table (the tables were that close) enjoyed their meat options very much as well, and happily told us so. Certainly a place not to be missed if you are swinging by Shoreditch.

This is one of those restaurants where giving an overall "score" is difficult. First the good: the food was great, we particularly enjoyed the scallops, the octopus with potato and capers and the tomato salad. Mr Eastendbird said the calamari was good, unfortunately I couldn't have it as I have coeliac disease and they said cross contamination was likely. The service was great, even though the young woman who served us was clearly rushed off her feet. Now for the not so good: we were seated upstairs and it's a very small room. The music was loud and our fellow diners were even louder. The pasta dishes looked amazing but they didn't serve any gluten free pasta, so we couldn't have them. All the dishes are for sharing, they're not cheap, but, as I said, the quality is very good. Finally they don't serve coffee or have any Italian digestifs, no limoncello, no grappa etc. I chose a lovely Scottish single malt instead. It was a strange mix of good and bad/disappointing. Would we return? I'm not sure.

THE PORK CHEEK AGNOLOTTI WAS GORGEOUS AS USUAL. JONATHAN LAWSON & CREW WERE IN GOOD FORM AGAIN. I SAT CLOSE TO THREE OTHER DINERS FOR WHOM IT WAS THEIR FIRST VISIT: A PAIR WHO CAME ON A RECOMMENDATION AND A SINGLETON, WHO WAS DINING THERE ON A WHIM. ALL THREE TOLD ME THAT THE MEALS HAD BEEN TO THEIR SATISFACTION AND THEY HOPED TO RETURN SOON.

I did not enjoy the meal and the experience. The Gin I have ordered tasted really bad. I was not happy and staff did not suggest an alternative and I have been charged for the drink. The food overpriced, an agnolotti pasta dish with six pieces around 20 pounds. Taste of the mushroom sauce was ok although pasta was a bit uncooked. Focaccia was basically sliced toasted bread with some olive oil on it. No real italian food. Portions very small and highly priced. Staff unfriendly.

OMG - the most amazing tasting food! For small plates the prices are maybe a bit steep, but once you taste the food you won’t even question it. Lovely service and ambience, and evidently brilliant chefs! A must visit! Don’t miss the pork cheek agnolotti and the chocolate cake.

We booked the restaurant because of all the amazing reviews. We knew it was going to be a bit pricey, but for a special meal we were happy to pay. We arrived at the restaurant and were shown upstairs. The space is tiny. The tables are placed so closely together, we might as well have been sat with a couple at the table next to ours. The staff were really nice and friendly. However the food was very average. The portions were tiny. They said we should order between 6 - 8 dishes (so tapas-like experience), but with £20.00 per dish on average, it's a bit expensive. We didn't mind that, but for this price we expected something more striking. There were no flavours. We had octopus (good quality, but very average), Risotto, Buratta (average), Pasta (which was quite nice), Cod (really average). With a few glasses of wine, our total meal came to almost £200. For this price, I would expect something really special, but as mentioned above this was ok. Sad to say, we will not be coming back or recommending to anyone. We have had much better Italian food in other restaurants in London, so really don't understand what the hype is all about with this place.
