A go to Italian in Croydon - Ponte Nuovo I've been to Ponte Nuovo in Croydon quite a few times now. My family and I were invited to a 100th and 90th birthday celebration this past year (2024). I've met my school friends there and had quite a few family lunches. I recommended the restaurant to my Mother's friend to celebrate her 90th Birthday after we had been to the 100th birthday luncheon at the start of the year. I was initially nervous recommending the restaurant, in case it did not meet her or her guests' expectations. My mother's friend was very worried about hosting a birthday luncheon for various reasons, but she now looks back with only fond and wonderful memories of the 90th birthday celebration she had there. The restaurant delivered in spades! She had a fantastic time and her guests LOVED the food. The decor is very modern and the food is fantastic. The portions are very generous and the food is cooked to perfection. We are always absolutely stuffed, when we leave the restaurant. The Manager recognises our family now and always greets us warmly. We were a little cheeky when we last visited the restaurant. We asked for a prawn starter which wasn't on the menu. We had it on another occasion and they kindly cooked it for again us. It was delicious. I'm not sure we needed it as we were so full after the main course, but we managed to fit in a dessert too. It is a really great place for celebrations, to spend quality time with friends or family over a wonderful meal. We love this restaurant! We would not hesitate to recommend it for that special occasion.

The separate space allowed for comfortable conversation away from the main restaurant's bustle, though it felt somewhat snug for our party and took some time to reach a comfortable temperature. The bar service could benefit from more attention to customers, as staff often appeared preoccupied with other tasks, making ordering drinks a somewhat inconsistent experience. When drinks did arrive, they were well-prepared, albeit priced on the higher end of the spectrum. The establishment maintains high standards of cleanliness, particularly in the facilities, which were impeccably maintained. While the final bill wasn't inexpensive, the quality of the food justified the price point. Overall, Ponte Nuovo delivers a pleasant dining experience with authentic Italian flair. Despite some minor service issues and space constraints, the quality of the cuisine makes it a worthwhile destination for those seeking genuine Italian fare.

The music was extremely loud. We wanted to talk and it had to be done out loud. It's a shame we couldn't enjoy the birthday party and even the good performance of the dishes served lost out in our evaluation.

A great place, good atmosphere, good service, and lovely food! Visited several times and always good.

Called last minute and squeezed us in on a busy Xmas Saturday night. Was so impressed - food and service was exceptional. Price was good given the quality of the food. Seafood linguine and tiramisu great, the house wine is lovely too. Really enjoyed!

Been to this restaurant a few times and each time I go my experience gets better and better! Separate from the lovely food, my waiter Albino was absolutely amazing from the start. He greeted me with a lovely smile, checked on me frequently and gave me great customer service throughout. He also tried patiently but failed to teach me some Italian haha! Definitely one of my fav Italian spots!

First time eating here. The food is absolutely delicious, one of the best I've tasted outside of Italy. The staff are very attentive and are lovely with kids. They always ensure the kids get their meals first. Cannot fault them. Great team and great chefs.

This is such a friendly, outstanding restaurant. I've been going for many years now and can't fault them for anything. The food is amazing and is reasonably priced.... if you have never been, I highly recommend 👌

I absolutely love this spot, Ronaldo is low key a g, is aoibhinn liom bia, tá sé an bialann is fearr liom,I’m originally Italian and the cuisine was very traditional and delish, the way in which they treated us was exquisite, would 100% recommend

Finding somewhere to accommodate a large number of people is always difficult but Ponte Nuovo and our lovely waiter Ronaldo did not disappoint. We were treated with kindness and patience and the food was divine. Ronaldo made it a memorable night that we will not forget. We will be sure to be back soon!

I took my Mrs for her birthday on a Monday and what can I say it was full and still had amazing service, the food is a reasonable price and tastes insanely good I was served by a gentleman called Ronaldo he was lovely and got everything on point we will defiantly be coming again for some warm hearty Italian food.

It was my first time trying this place, and it was a lovely experience. The pasta was cooked beautifully 😍 and the service was really good. Would recommend

We (six women) had a lovely meal on a Wednesday afternoon to celebrate a birthday! We made the atmosphere ourselves. Thoroughly recommended; we deserved it!

Lovely experience, fish dish after lunch time on Saturday, not busy at all and lovely staff. Pistachio desert and lovely espresso machiato is super tasty.

I went to this restaurant on a Monday evening to meet friends expecting it to be very quiet. However even though it was a Monday the front area was busy with a great atmosphere and lovely welcoming staff. The food was cooked and prepared to a very high standard, the cocktails were fabulous and we had a great evening. Would definitely go back.

Had a birthday early dinner here. Staff were great and the inside is supe sleek and gorgeous. Great for a daily meal, menu is varied!

Went in on a Monday night, as expected very quiet. The waiter was very patient as myself and my dining partner were having issues deciding what to have. Drinks orders taken quickly and once we'd ordered food, it came quickly and was hot. Food was very nice and service was great. Attentive but not overpowering. Atmosphere would be great with a few more people in the restaurant. Overall, great visit and would recommend 👌

Delicious food and lovely staff. I really enjoyed the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which came in rich, flavourful tomato sauce. Also tried the norma pasta and was very happy with how much garlic was coming through, splendid! Merlot was excellent, and even simple things like the olives (big queen ones) were really great, in a chilli oil which the chef makes himself. Professional and friendly service was also much appreciated, and we're looking forward to visiting again!

The atmosphere and service was exceptional for the neighborhood. The food was subpar, the ravioli was not filled well nor was it tasty. Appetizers were decent.

We decided to call in last Sunday st Patrick's day , hoping for 1,2, Irish playlists offered to hear unfortunately we were unlucky Andre was polite to offer us a playlist , his boss refused . Well service okish we ordered 2 roast beef meals , after receiving our meals , they forgot roast potatoes, classical ingredient , we had a small portion of broccoli, cauliflower, Very ! Stringy ! Green beans ! Parsnips and carrots , would tasted Delicious if it was Hot ,unfortunately not ! Why wasent there jugs of water available on the table alternatively why would we need to request water ,another vital ingredient when dining out , to add to injury ,we requested twice for the dessert menu ,after the waiters forgot about us again . We gave up ,chose Irish coffees , looking forward to our traditional Irish coffees may i add on St Patrick's day We were really disappointed with the taste , they gave us cheap whiskey sugar tasted like sweetners over all the Irish coffee never had the Irish whiskey tastes . Now after receiving the bill , woww ! It was nearly £80 , we bought 2 roast beef meals ,1 fresh mint tea , 1 glass of house pinot grigio, 2 Irish coffees Forgot to mention 2 watery flavoured minestrone soups with fresh bread . The staff already took £7.95 for gratuity fees before we decided how much or if we were about to tip them . I asked to have gratuity fees removed , the bill still costs £80 We were expecting to pay around £60 same costs last year on mother's day . I'm not sure if I'll be visiting there again Shame actually I've always dined here on birthdays and various occasions. Pointe Nouvo You have really let us down this time So disappointed with you !! Listed as the top Italian restaurant in Croydon and being Italian myself, I wanted to try it, despite above average prices for the area. I was welcomed by 3 friendly, yet professional and accommodating staff. Ambience and background Italian music absolutely pleasant. I ordered home made bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar, very nice. Pasta ragù: spaghetti (didn't want to change the past type on the menu with classic egg tagliatelle or pappardelle or any short pasta, not to alter the chef's own recipe: it was precooked - a big no no - even though the restaurant was nearly empty (4 tables only, one already paid) and I was served in less than 5 minutes. Ragù sauce nice though; shame it was watered down a little as the pasta wasn't drained properly. I tasted it and left it mainly for the precooked, unusually textured pasta. The waiter saw the plate still full and immediately offered to change it. The Assistant Manager came to apologize, explained that the head chef was on holiday and offered a freshly express cooked pasta from scratch, penne i/o spaghetti as I was offered to choose. Very good reaction to feedback indeed. It was lovely and well cooked. Next up, lamb shank, quite large according to the nice waiter who took my order. It arrived average size, a lamb is a lamb after all, extremely tender though, quite tasty with just a hint of overcooked sauce aftertaste but not quite burned, however overall nice, with roughly 60% of the dish made up by sauce, potatoes and carrots. To finish, cheese board which was well presented and well assembled with a great selection, not easy to match around Croydon for sure! Bottom line for me is: if there is a problem, do say so immediately and give a chance to rectify issues instead of moaning afterwards, value your experience according to the efforts made and the final result to put things right. Il Ponte did so, and in a commendable manner. Kudos to Riccardo the assistant Manager who at the table handled it all himself. Recommended.

I always try to be as honest as possible, I really liked the ambience of the restaurant and it was a nice decorated place however the food was incredibly poor. The lasagne I got was all mushy and soupy and quite honestly a waste of money. I will say their drinks options were great but the starter (calamari) and the mains missed the mark by a mile. The staff were lovely and attentive but I just feel like the lasagne was a real let down.

Had an excellent experience in here on Friday night , the food was amazing as was the service, will definitely be going back .

We spent a wonderful evening here for a birthday celebration. The food is so delicious it's genuinely like being in Italy - where do they get such incredible tomatoes?! In particular the service we received from Verdiana was fabulous - we will back regularly. Thank you!!

Absolutely amazing food! We had spinach stuffed chicken with bacon and creamy mushroom sauce and it was one of the best chickens I have ever had, even though I normally do not enjoy breast meat. Creamy tomato rigatoni for starters was delicious too.

So good we went twice in a week (second time with entire family)! The linguine marinara is to die for (no photo but this is the dish we had to come back for). Everything about the dish was cooked perfectly. The tiramisu was the best I have ever had. Service was top drawer. Very professional and considerate. Who'd have thought Croydon would have such a first class restaurant?! Wish they were nearer to us. We don't live near but we will definitely be back!

I just would like to thank the whole team at Ponte Nuovo from the bottom of my heart for making my Aunt's birthday lunch with family and close friends a memorable event. The lady really enjoyed herself. Once again, a big thank you.

Had an excellent experience at this restaurant. I had to make a booking via Instagram as their site was down and they responded within minutes. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. Very lively and warm. The food was excellent! Some of the best I've had since moving to London. The food in this city is often overpriced and mediocre. I had the seafood pasta and my partner had the pollo Mediterranean - both of which were incredible and better than some of 5 star restaurants in central London we've visited. Staff were also amazing. Our waiter was attentive and super friendly. My partner mentioned in passing that it was my birthday and they surprised me with and birthday tiramasu and sang for me! Such an awesome experience and it made my night. We will definitely be back.

Venue: Ponte Nuovo Date of Visit: 07/01/2024 There were 6 of us in total and we arrived when it was quiet. My orders included - Vegetarian Pizza - Pina Colada - Dessert (Forgotten the name) The staff catered to my dietary requirements and answered any questions I had. I don't think they have halal meat options which is why I ordered vegetarian/alcohol free. The atmosphere was clean and pleasant and the food/drink itself was of high standard, arriving in reasonable time. 5 Stars overall

Lovely authentic Italian food and warm atmosphere. Well worth trying the selection of Specials on offer. I enjoyed a traditional minestrone for starters and a pasta from the Specials Menu with baby prawns, garlic, cream & brandy sauce. Like mama used to make! Menu has something for everyone at a reasonable price for London. A couple of small Birthday celebrations added to a great atmosphere.

Excellent attention and amazing service. Food amazing and plentiful, wonderful quality. 15 people, 3 children. We were given a private area so the children were able to walk around and play. Parking next door, buses on doorstep. We had used this restaurant for two Christmas business functions in November, amazing. I would recommend this restaurant for any private function.

Absolutely delicious food. Everything on the menu is top notch, and there cannot be enough praise for our server, Ronaldo. He is very friendly and really took care of all of us. 190% recommend.

Celebrated my birthday here with my mum, it was 3pm on a Monday so restaurant was very quiet, staff were very attentive. They surprised me with a complimentary cake and candle and all came out singing, it was really sweet. Atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxed. It’s our first time here and will definitely come back again. I knocked one star off because the lobster pasta was a bit disappointing, not much lobster and the tail was just for display. Aside from that it just tasted like a tomato based pasta. For the price, wouldn’t get again. I would come back and try other dishes though

Went there with my partner and we absolutely enjoyed the food and it’s a very cozy spot . There were only two people working but everything was efficient, our order was mistaken but we got the second order on the house as an apology. Will definitely be going back. I loved it overall

We were a group of 45 adults and kids. Food arrived together, hot and tasty. Service was impeccable nothing seemed too much trouble and all the staff had a smile. What more could you ask for!

We came for bestfriends birthday, our two families, 8 of us were all greeted and welcomed, we all enjoyed everything we ordered, restaurant was very busy and it did not affect the attentiveness of the staff service, I feel they went over and above to making sure we were enjoying our evening, quality of food we ate was on point, and the staff coming together to sing happy birthday as they brough out the cake was really lovely, and we all had a wonderful time.
