Absolutel gem of a place this. Food was banging and service was good and not overbearing. Really got the tapas vibe right. Should be on your visit list!

Popped in for a quick lunch on Christmas Eve. Service was great, food is delicious and very filling, and prices extremely reasonable. A favourite spot to visit whenever in Wigan

I went for a quick dinner after being stranded in Wigan due to train troubles, but I left this restaurant extremely satisfied with the amazing food and the very caring and kind staff.

Can't fault a thing. A warm, friendly and efficient service with excellent quality food.

We love it here! Came last night on a whim, could only get a table at 6pm as they were fully booked so keep that in mind if you’re wanting to go. Best tapas I’ve had outside of Spain. Would highly recommend the croquetas de jamón, the gambas al ajillo and the mejillas de cerdo (pork cheeks) - absolutely gorgeous. Had a bottle of wine between the two of us, a beer and a glass of sangria, 6 tapas and some churros and it came to £80 which is great value. Also got a free shot of ginger wine at the end which was much appreciated! Will definitely be back!

Had an hour to kill due to a cancelled connecting train. Glad I checked Google and followed the reviews to this place. Lovely food, would recommend.

We’ve been here at least 8 times, between taking our family, ourselves and friends. The food is absolutely fantastic, we’ve gone in just for 2 dishes and ordered the whole menu between 8 of us one time. Nothing. EVER misses. It’s outstanding. The chorizo is to die for, the fish and the meat is of serious high quality. can’t fault the food or the service

Quick sneaky afternoon tapas why not! Arrived but we were told they weren't open but after a brief discussion apparently they were. Anyway food served quickly but not together bits came out as they were done. Which is fair enough as they weren't busy so the dishes were prepared fresh. The food was really nice and I'd go pack quite happily. Price wise we had quite a few dishes and drinks and there was 3 of us so under £100 was reasonable for the quality of food. We left full and happy which is exactly what you want from a restaurant- even if they're not sure if they are open.

Second visit with friends and was impressed all-over again. Great sort menu and some great specials you should try. Definitely recommend if you've not tried this one. Various places to park very close by. MJs behind the Swan & Railway or the station multistory where we paid just £4.50.

This is a lovely little restaurant that offers tapas at a very reasonable price. There is a good selection of drinks, beers and wines and the dining area is cosy and comfortable. You can even sit outside if the British weather holds up. The staff are always pleasant and offer a warm welcome and an efficient service. The food is very tasty and we particularly enjoyed the patatas alioli and the coliflor frito. The croquettes are also especially good and all the food is very well presented. It's definitely worth a visit, especially if you're just back from Spain and are feeling the holiday blues! Enjoy...

Love it here! Food and service always excellent! Chilled atmosphere nice level of background music. The specials board is worth a look at too! Had an impromptu last minute visit with my daughter on Sunday and was happily accommodated. Recommend booking though as it does get busy.

Absolutely amazing start to finish, the wine was lovely and so was the sangria, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was lovely and if I could recommend one dish that stood out it was the pig cheeks, spoke to the chef and it's slow braised and the sauce it's braised in is to die for, we were mopping it up with bread. Very well priced tapas and full of flavour! We will be returning soon.

I’ll start with the good: Food was decent, had the plata platter, it was a nice little sample selection of tapas, the croquettes were also good, pan con tomate was delicious. Patatas bravas were nice enough, not the best I’ve had but not bad. We also got ordered the chicken y chorizo. I can’t comment on that dish as we didn’t receive it, we got the chorizo in red wine instead. No major complaint as maybe I wasn’t clear when ordering and the chorizo in red wine was nice and tasty. The bad, and when I say bad I really mean the not that bad but just not great. The sangria tasted like just red wine mixed with orange juice, it was ok just not that tasty. This is a nice little place, sat out in the sunshine was pleasant enough just a shame for the noisy road and view of some sort of industrial silo. I feel like it might be nicer sat inside but we walked in last minute so not a big deal. All round I’d come again, food good and in fairness we had a few drinks and a decent amount of food for less than £50, what more could you ask for!

We’ve wanted to try this place out for ages and decided a wet June Sunday was the perfect time. The food was fantastic, in particular the sardines, the dates wrapped in Serrano ham and the cauliflower steak. Will definitely be back!

We have been here several times and it never disappoints. Lovely tasty food and good service by pleasant people. Quiet tonight due to Challenge Cup final but very enjoyable. Specials add variety if you’ve worked your way through the main menu.

Good place in Wigan for Tapas. Nice platter of cold dishes to start. Could have done with more Ham in there but all good. However the Fritata made up for it. Made from scratch and it was amazing. Hot dishes good and wines were decent too

Second time visiting Plata Tapas and was not disappointed. Excellent food and service. Fantastic hidden gem in Wigan.

Food was ok Patatas bravas was excellent As was the cod and prawn special. The chorizo in red wine and honey was too sweet, the pork cheeks although tender was just ok in flavour. The oil/vinegar that you get with the artisan bread was way too acidic! You need to look at the vinegar you are using. This is coming from someone who can drink and enjoy pickle vinegar!!. We were the only dinners and yet the food still didn't arrive together. A no no when it's tapas. Although the food was ok they still have a way to go to be an authentic tapas bar.

Hands down the best food served in wigan for me, food is always cooked perfectly with a great choice, everything tastes amazing and the price is spot on, staff are all really friendly I would highly reccomend

We celebrated my sister's 50th birthday here and were not disappointed. Faultless service and delicious food. It was quiet hence the score of 4 for atmosphere. Everything else was 5 star!!

Luckily managed to get a table at this lovely little place the other evening! We ordered the shared cold platter, prawns, steak pinchos, padron peppers and the showstopper was the Patatas Alioli 👩‍🍳 Everything was piping hot and fresh out of the kitchen in authentic terracotta dishes. Portion sizes are perfect for two people to share, which I actually prefer to the Spanish style of bigger portions for a whole group to share. The padron peppers were a bit old (the seeds had gone black) and weren't all grilled evenly. Service was a little slow but the waitresses were very pleasant. Would absolutely come back here!

Heard of this place through friends . Travelled from Chorley it did not disappoint. Such a lovely little place just how we like it not too many seats so it’s the perfect environment. The service lovely friendly happy faces . The food was exceptional. My husband had the meatballs , prawns , cod and steak ( he had four dishes ) everything was so perfectly cooked the seasoning the portions . I had three and I think three is plentiful . Really impressed and hard to find decent tapas . This place is really outstanding. I love we could see them cook and that for me just topped it off Thank you for a lovely evening before Christmas . After reading reviews thought we would give it a try on Sunday evening firstly the young lady who served us was nice and the lager was good. But that's has good as it gets. The tapas was pre cooked and looked like it been put in microwave had four tapas dishes wouldn't recommend any. Sorry to leave poor review but this was my honest opinion.

Been there tonight with a relative that has lived in Spain for over 20 years. I thought the food was excellent and he said two of his dishes were better than he has ever had in Spain and the rest just as good. Good service nice atmosphere will definitely go back again.

In my opinion, bringing 1 dish of tapas and making other 3 people sit and watch, isn't great service. And empty starter sharing platters still taking whole table up, not being cleared till prompted, isn't great service. But expecting you to be out in 2 hours to free the table. We literally still had food on plates 5 mins before our time ran out, shoved food down, and with full drinks went to sit outside. Running out of cider after a few bottles - bad stock control. The food was nice, but some dishes lacked seasoning.

Don't bother going shocking service and even worse food !! Avoid

After booking ahead and leaving clear notes that we would need space for a pram and a wheelchair, we turned up to celebrate our wedding anniversary to be offered the tiniest table wedged between other tables , there was no space for the pram, we actually didn't need the wheelchair space in the end but definitely wouldn't have got that in. When I questioned when the pram could go then alternatively suggested what I can only describe as a window seal with a pub stool placed under it (for a couple with a pram and a disabled guest. We basically couldn't be seated so despite booking we were left disappointed but luckily managed to book a different restaurant last min Do not say you are accessible if you are not and use electronic booking systems if you are not going to read the notes. We will not return and certainly won't recommend

Lovely intimate tapas restaurant for delicious and authentic Spanish tapas. Also some delicious sherry on offer. Excellent food and friendly staff. May be difficult to park next to so I'd suggest parking on Rodney Street and walking down to the restaurant.

We booked for a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere and the service was excellent. Our food was fresh and delicious and we enjoyed all the dishes we’d chosen. Great night out and would def recommend. 5*

One of the best restaurants in Wigan, I’ve never left disappointed 😍 Staff are lovely, food is super fresh, and service is always fast. There’s loads of veggie and vegan options - the team are really good at tailoring dishes to dietary requirements if you ask. Only a small venue so make sure you book!

We went about 12 months ago and were disappointed so haven't been back until yesterday. First impression was that the seats outside were very dirty and clearly hadn't been wiped. We ordered the sharing platter which was bland and sparce. The jamon was cut in wierd wafer thin shavings and the tortilla appeared to be burnt. I was pleased to see Spanish black pudding on the menu although, being a huge fan of the Spanish variety, I was disappointed at what was presented. it was clearly uk black pudding with only 4 tiny pieces served. We won't be going for a third visit.

Having travelled to Spain on multiple occasions, I'm simply blown away by the quality and authenticity of the Tapas. I'd go so far as to say that the food here is better than in Spain. We're so lucky to have a Tapas restaurant of this quality in Wigan. Long may Plata Tapas continue! On top of all that, the value for money is exceptional. Most dishes average around the £5/£6 mark and with that in mind, when the bill came it was a pleasant surprise. I've paid 3 times more in other restaurants for a meal that was just about OK. My advice, be grateful for the value and make it up with a healthy tip for the staff who are amazing. Just go! You won't be disappointed!

Have been intending going here since it opened but today was the first time. My son booked a table for a mother's day treat and what a treat it was. All the dishes we picked were utterly delicious, perfectly cooked and really nicely presented. The two young girls waiting on were lovely, very friendly and cheerful. Will definitely be going again soon.

lovely resturant with athentic spanish dishes made with locally sorced produce weekly specials which always taste fantistic . Chef/Owner and front of house staff are great and very knowledgeable about the food definitely my favourite resturant in Wigan if you haven't tried it you should I will be back again soon

Unfortunately for Plata Tapas, they didn't know that they were serving a Spanish family. Food was typical of tourist restaurants in Spain but not of locals eating places. I will not be going again.

Nice food good service, reasonably priced

The surroundings feel quite basic but the food is quite wonderful and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place if you like tapas or if you want to try it for the first time.

Oh, it was so good! There's a few things that I've not seen at other Tapas places, which was lovely 🥰 We had steamed mussels in a cream and sherry sauce, grilled aubergine with goats cheese, walnuts and honey, goats cheese croquettes which were so fluffy and dates stuffed with manchego I think it was, wrapped in Serrano ham and drizzled with honey. Delicious! I was envious of the braised pork cheeks at another table. The food was truly outstanding and very reasonably priced. It's a firm favourite for me now after this, my first experience, and I'll return when impressing a date ❤️

Excellent quality, great attention to details. You can see on the blackboard where they source meat and fish (local shops). Good selection of gins and wines.

Attended here with my mum for birthday, unfortunately didn't get any pictures, but the food was quick and delicious. The dates, meatballs and goats cheese balls were particularly lovely. Staff were so friendly, and provided us with some free drinks for my birthday which was a lovely touch. The sangria was amazing! Such a lovely, special day, thank you.

The food here is so good! The atmosphere is great and the service is great. We ate and drank plenty and the bill was beyond reasonable and didn't reflect the quality of food! Just booked again and the way to book is so simple too. Great place to go!

Sadly I didn’t take photos, wish I had as the food was excellent. Service was great, they put up with my family on Xmas eve, where we lost track of what we ordered and drank plenty through our stay! All of the plates were lovely, nice quality ingredients and cooked well. Kinda wish the seating was a little more comfortable, as it seems to be all wooden chairs, it’s quite an industrial setting within the arches. Very glad somewhere like this is in Wigan though.

What a fabulous meal we had here. I can't recommend this place enough. The bravas is beautiful and the sharing platter for a starter is a must. The cauliflower frita is beautiful. And on top of that alhambra bottled beer. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere and the staff helpful. Great little place.

Absolutely brilliant I visited on a Friday night and the restaurant had a lively atmosphere and good selection of drinks (beer, wine, gin etc). The food however was the main event, all of it was really fresh and each dish had its own individual flavours, my favourites being the pork cheeks and the fillet steak. Prices were more than reasonable and I’d recommend to anyone to try. Very impressed.

First time visit, we found this Spanish themed restaurant well appointed and comfortable, the waitresses were excellent and helpful. Food was to a very good standard and at a reasonable price. Its in a convenient location being close to other excellent bars and a good night could be had in this area of town. Would definitely go back.

Food was good. We ordered a mix of 6 dishes that we thought we would both enjoy. When they came out there was some that we liked more than others which is always going to be the case. The serrano ham was really nice, as was the pork cheeks, spicy beef meat balls and goats cheese croquettes. I did find the lamb and honey strew a bit dry. Inside the restaurant was full when we arrived with just our pre-booked table free. Definitely a place you need to book ahead and if you are still worried about Covid maybe give it a miss on a Saturday night. Service was ok. I got the feeling that the serving staff are new to the role and they will improve with time.

Just been here this afternoon as a family of four after discovering on ‘Google’ searching for local Tapas . Was initially hesitant however was not disappointed the food was 5 star would definitely recommend and will be going again !

A very welcoming and atmospheric eatery offering a great selection of tapas at very reasonable prices. Coupled with some decent wines and friendly staff, what's not to like?

First visit and we had a really lovely time. Ordered a plata platter and 2 dishes each and all were lovely. Particularly enjoyed the King prawns, aubergine and meatballs. Finished with churros and chocolate sauce. Perfect 🥰

We had 6 different dishes between the 2 of us and everyone was brilliant cant wait to go again the only negative was when I was paying by card and it came up with different amounts you would like to leave as a tip I left a tip in cash and I think it is down to the individual to leave what they want but we will be back again

Visited for the first time and the whole experience was great. It was my partners birthday, and so she was greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco, which was a nice touch. The food was exceptional! Every dish was done to a high standard so it was really hard to pick a favourite, but the pork cheeks & honey glazed chicken wings do get a special mention. Given the quality of ingredients used the prices are very fair/competitive too! The staff were friendly, attentive and the service was very efficient. We will definitely visit again.

We visited platas tapas yesterday for some lunch Staff was all very polite and the place was spotless. All the food we ate was amazing. It was some of the nicest tastiest food I have ever eaten. We will definitely be returning here in the near future
