Tonight we had a big fish and chips meal from here and they were delicious. Freshly cooked to order and so tasty, pjs has to be one of not the best fish and chip shops in the area. Highly recommended to any and everyone. The food here is so fresh and so tasty I can not recommend this fish shop anymore than 5stars. The curry sauce maybe the best I’ve ever had from any chip shop ever you will not be disappointed with the curry sauce it’s so good.

Seems that everything here is cooked to order. The result is that you might have to wait a while for some of the best fish and chips in the area . Reasonably priced too. Highly recommend the gravy if you like that kind of thing.

drunk so can't remember but is the battered fish only 5 quid ? thats impossibly cheap for haddock, i think they great but as drunk tough tk give a really trusted opinion as all tastes good

This was my regular chippy (11years) until today! The old blonde woman is extremely miserable and RUDE! She put the tiniest amount of curry sauce on my fish butty, then when I asked her to put a bit more she became rude snapped and said “well I’m going to charge you extra for that as that’s a full tub”! Nonsense it was curry across the fish and she’d only put a tiny amount on the middle earlier! For someone who goes to this shop weekly if not twice a week, I am fed up tbh of the rude service from the old woman .., her and her counter part are always miserable! The only reason I’ve stuck by all these years is the other staff aren’t like that and the owner is always welcoming. Due to this terrible service and over charging I’ll never go again! This is how they treat loyal regular customers! The management should sack her! She’s always been a right miserable rude one! This was last straw for me! Never go again! RIP off £7.20 for a fish butty with curry sauce !!!

The fish and chips here are so good. The batter, fish and chips are always cooked to perfection. Staff are always polite and friendly. The whole place is superclean and very summer they have gorgeous flowers surrounding the building😊

Had haddock and chips absolutely the best again on Tuesday the 3rd October 1st one in lady fryer she knows what she's doing thank you ladies.

I have been coming here since i was a kid & it has always been the best chippy in wakefield! but last couple times I have been standards have dropped massive! Beyond greasy, sloppy & never cooked right. Such a shame as this has been passed on in the family but its gone down hill & can see from other reviews.

Great busy shop, it’s a long time since I’ve tried them so decided to go again, didn’t have the special, but tried the regular, great taste & great staff

We travel from Leeds for these, so that should tell you all you need to know. Never had a disappointing visit. On my top three favourite traditional fish and chip joints.

I have been using this chippy for thirty years and visited yesterday when checking in with my elderly mum in Ardsley. The blonde lady at the counter was delightful , although the lady in the headscarf that appeared from the back was not so friendly, will leave it at that. However the fish and chips were just awful ( never happened at this establishment before for me) . My mum thought exactly the same. Hardly any batter covering on the fish and the fish was also very dry and over cooked, indeed it had all the hallmarks of being warmed up! Won’t stop going but hope this isn’t a sign of things to come

Even though the fish was good and the chips were also good, the atmosphere was depressing. Absolute lack of any social skills from the front counter, no general chit chat, nothing. Just complete silence. People won't remember the food unless it's different to the usual but people always remember how you made them feel so make an effort to make people feel welcome and comfortable. Have somebody friendly at the front dealing with customers or take who you have on a customer service course because I will personally only return when all other options are exhausted. You want return custom, so give people more reason than the food to return 👍🏻

Absolutely cracking Fish & Chips from here, reasonably priced. I have 4 fish shops closer to me but I travel here regular for the quality.🙂

Called yesterday for fish chips . I can only discribe them has discusting the worst fish chips we have ever had they used to be good but my advice would be not to waste your hard earned money on them . I will discribe to you all that the fish tasted like damp mold. Not a very pleasant taste to have in your mouth believe me .I write this review because I used to own my own fish chip shop so I know what I am talking about. At this time of year all fish should be of good quality winter caught fish is always better than summer caught fish. If you have ever heard the term Scarborough woof . Well this is w————ers woof the owner will know who I am talking about doesn’t waste your money stay away

What can I say about this beautiful little Gem of a place? It's the best Fish and Chips I have eaten. The fish was so fresh and cooked to perfection. Definitely a place to visit.

This is a lovely little fish shop if you fancy a bite too eat. The staff were friendly and we didnt have to wait too long for our food. We called in to get something for dinner and we enjoyed all our food everything was good nicely the food had a good taste and you got a decent sized portion for the price would definitely go back again.

Cracking fish and chips, travel 3 miles to get them from P Js always fresh, don't need to cook to order, because they always have a queue waiting, so the fish and chips actually have time to drain. Try them for yourself, you'll be going back time and time again.

Lots of bones in the fish cake. Poor quality fish. For an expensive price.

Decent fish and chips. I find the fish quite often overcooked and dry. Not a patch on Main Street Fisheries East Ardsley which are amazing.

Chips are too often pale, greasy and undercooked.

This chippy is outstanding been twice now and it’s my go to when I’m near by. The quality of the fish is spot on and the portion sizes are just right to make that enjoyably filling lunchtime meal would 100% recommend.

Best chippy ever! Discovered it 20 years ago whilst commuting between Rotherham and Pontefract. Sadly could never visit often enough but the food is always amazing. Fish always freshly cooked in a light and crispy batter accompanied with perfectly done chips in really generous athlete size portions! I now live in Switzerland so regretfully cannot frequent very often, but whenever I am back in the area this is one place I will always find an excuse to visit whilst I am here! Well done PJ’s and really glad the next generation of the family are keeping this amazing place going to the high standards set by Phil and Jean! Keep up the great work and look forward to visiting again soon!

Some of the best fish and chips in Yorkshire. The main thing is the curry is actually chip shop with no raisins.

Hot,salt and vinegar,scraps or batter bits whatever you like to call them you cant beat this chippy

Young teen that was serving didn't have the ability to wright on the paper what they contained after asking him to ! 3 different orders to deliver and after asking him to, plus fish was like leather. Usually nice from pj’s ?????
