Extremely poor service received from Pizza express Tonbridge. Was made very clear that the priority for staff was take away orders! Sat waiting over an hour for a pizza - No starters ordered. Order after order was just going out the door for takeaways. Other customers just sat with no food also just waiting. Staff just laughing when asked why the wait was so long. Food arrived and pizza was just like dough - Trying to make up for time by taking the pizzas out early and then they was un edible. Very disappointed to say the least.

Service was attentive and at a good pace. Very warm inside, they do have a/c but not sure it works very well. Starters were good but the Pizza toppings was very sparse!

Drinks service was slow and we had to wait a while. Starters were good, I had a Mozzarella & Tomato starter and it was a decent size portion. The Pizzas were a little on the soggy side in the middle and also a little on the thin side hence the reason for the sogginess. The waitresses were pleasant and attentive. Given this an average review for the slow drinks service and soggy pizzas.

Waitress was really nice and friendly done a brilliant job! The food was crap…..the only thing chilli about the chilli prawns was the temperature, they was cold and had no flavour, thin based pizza was rank and looked nothing like the pictures advertised, it was like someone put some sauce on a tortilla burnt some cheese and pepperoni on it and wacked it on plate that was too small. Overpriced rank food, to sum it up, Havet across the road will give you better food which is fresh for the same money!

Great offer (at the moment), of children eating free if someone orders a main meal. Ordered the light pizza with salad in the middle. Great staff. The girl worked out two different offers for me to see which one saved me the most money.

Cold greating. Restaurant half empty but we were not given a nice seat in the sofas saying it was booked when nonone ever came. We had to sit on those uncomfortable chairs. They forgot to give us the menus. Never came to see if everything is ok once food was served. Place is ok. Location is gorgeous. Food is tasty. But the service is a big nope for me.

This really is a poor excuse for a restaurant, our hot starters were cold but nothing was done to rectify this. It was as if the waitress was sick and tired of people complaining about the food. The pizza came next, it was so thin that we could believe it, the topping was pretty much non existent, the base tasted like a heavily fried pancake. Apparently these are more in keeping with the pizzas of Rome. I suggest you go to Rome and you will most definitely find the pizzas of Rome are nothing like yours. Overall highly disappointing experience, very expensive for poor quality inedible food, it’s time to get some new staff and management in this business, it really is very badly run.

Went here as PE do good range of gluten-free kids meals for gluten intolerant grandson. He enjoyed his meal, but our pizza was poor as had been cooked too early and left to stand (whilst grandson eat his starter). Waiting staff pleasant but kept trying to clear table whilst we were still clearly eating. It wasn’t busy, so no excuses.

Visited for a birthday and was really impressed. Our waitress was great (didnt get her name but had light brown hair, we visted evening 19-June). There was a mistake with one of our pizzas, and we wanted to change our mind on another pizza - both situations resolved in a very short time. Great evening.

Been going here all my life since a kid. Came in with my father and sister and was told they were fully booked. Used the restroom where I saw the empty restaurant then she told us that there wasn’t enough staff. Very disappointed Sunday lunch ruined.

Calamari was delish! Got a pollo ad astra. Highly recommend. Atmosphere was nice

Pizza express salads aren’t what they used to be. Barely any chicken in my Caesar Salad and small overall. Hugely over priced :(

Waitress was great, really friendly and nice with the kids. Manager had an odd demeanour and said they had a lot of tables booked despite the restaurant only having 7 tables occupied. Apparently when we ordered, 20 collection orders were also put through the system and we didn’t receive our food for a whole hour. We had 2 small children with us and it’s not acceptable that uber eats is prioritised over your covers. The manager could see our small children when we came in and to delay our food at a chain that I frequent because of its relative speed of service was embarrassing. The manager did not say goodbye and did not come over to apologise about the poor service. Poor business model that needs to change.

I love coming here but I don’t think I will come again. Chefs were shouting at the young waitress and made her upset, another waitress was sitting at a table with her friends not doing much while everyone else was busy. The poor manager looked like she had had enough but kept smiling and took over our table. Some staff were so rude to her while she looked after a very big table in the back too. The manager needs a medal for dealing with the disgraceful behaviour we witnessed. I didn’t catch her name but she had a very colourful shirt on.

Excellent Thai eatery with bold and vibrant flavours. The pad Thai is a must-try.

The food was good and the service from the staff was outstanding. It was my wife’s birthday and when they brought the cake out, which I supplied they had brought it out on a beautifully decorated plate which made the occasion even more special.

Whilst the food was 4* the failure to declare the accessible WC was not functioning (staff were asked where it was during ordering) beggar's belief. That a member of staff subsequently asked if a mobility impaired customer wanted to be shown the way to the downstairs WC despite just having been advised the customer cannot use stairs was just thoughtless ableism. PS - There must be more than one plumber in Tonbridge if the first fails to turn up!

You know what you're getting. The food is okay and the setting is very nice by the river. Sadly, the few times I have been here, the place looks like they could do with more staff. It's always a mess with tables uncleared and generally messy.

Great date night location in Tonbridge. Perfect for an easy night out. App always allow freebies so that's a bonus and the app also allows you to pay at the table so no more waiting to pay. Pizza is always an easy choice for a night out

I went in earlier this week and it was amazing! You could see that the manager was helping out and serving tables, Natalie was perfect, couldn't fault her. She was attentive and made some incredible reccomdations. The bbq pizza was out of this world. I will definitely come back for the great food and the friendly staff.

Ordered from Deliveroo. Driver walked out without our Pizzas then told us to just call the restaurant. Restaurant were amazing let us collect so it was quicker and gave us some brownies to say sorry. They took it up with deliveroo as soon as it happened and tried to request a new driver ASAP. Shout out to Natalie for helping us out and taking the time to care.

I have many pizzas in my lifetime, from Turkey to Canada, and have eaten from both a large chain and independent restaurants. Thanks Jaden Coutihno and co, I believe I have had the ultimate pizza experience. Special shoutout to Steph as well. The pizza was lovely, the service was exemplary and the atmosphere was perfect. Couldn’t recommend more.

We were a big family group who came in for a meal just after Christmas. This restaurant did us proud. Good choice of food, all if it nice. The best bit was the service. We had a waitress called Natalie and she worked really hard to keep all of our group happy. Not an easy task but she was really good at her job and helped to make our day. Thanks Natalie!

Great service and lovely experience

We are here on the 28th December and had the most amazing time. We were a table of 8! 5 adults and 3 children, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. We had 3 Neurodiverse children and 3 of the adults are too to some extent. The lad who served us was called Ed, he was a superstar to say the least!! He helped make sure that everyone was ok the whole time but not in an intrusive way. We had a Coeliac child and another child who is Milk Protein Allergy with Soya Intolerance as well, Ed did everything he could to reassure us that he/they would be very careful & OMW! were they, they made sure both boys were taken care of and also that their little brother wasn't left out either. We normally go to Pizza Express because they do lovely pizzas and can cater for allergies but Tonbridge went even further and out of their way to accommodate us. When it came to Ed, he was just what you want from a server/waiter! He was such a lovely, friendly and comical guy. He was very knowledgeable about all the pizzas and sides, he also knows his stuff when it comes to the drinks too, he recommended a couple of lovely bottles of wine and didn't push the expensive ones, he also knew his beers much to the pleasure of our eldest diner, who loved the recommendation so much he asked to take the empty bottle home to see if he could source it closer to his home. I as a non-alcohol drinker was trying to decide which of the "normal" "boring" drinks when Ed very kindly pointed out the non-alcoholic drinks and recommend a very lovely raspberry drink which was so refreshing and really made my enjoyment of the meal so much more.

We arrived almost 45 minutes early to our booking however we were seated and our waitress Natalie was amazing all throughout. The kids loved her as she always got down to their level to talk to them. My son that has autism loved her. He is a fidget and won’t stay sat still. She asked him if he could sit down to tell him what he wanted to order, he couldn’t stop talking about her all night. All the food recommendations where spot in and everyone had a great time

From previous visits I found the service lacking me and my partner were looking forward to our time together as due to professional and family life we do not get to meet at as much. We entered the restaurant i admit quite early and the servers weere all preparing for their day. We waited to be seated for several minutes but since we were there early we saw a large number of empty tables. So given that there were tables free we just took our seats as Nobody had acknowledged our standing there. We were then left at the table for over 10 minutes without a menu or a "hello". I got up walk to the bar and said "can I have a menu please" which was met with a smirking face to which I replied "i understand you guys are just setting up I don't mind taking them" I was met with why didn't you wait to be seated I didn't reply as my reply would have been why didn't you acknowledge us at all for over a number minutes....... I digress the fact is the service was shoddy and going back here will not be on the menu.

Fabulous, you know what you get. Food delicious straight forward bit expensive but you don't mind. Staff very friendly and helpful, lovely atmosphere. Rewards are good, already reached gold for a second year! Can't go wrong, easy family dine out.

Had the worst services this evening. 12 of us booked a meal for 5pm as we had a concert to go to. Was asked to preorder our food beforehand. Arrived at 5pm at 6pm only 7 of the meals arrived and were cold then another 6 arrived cold. Which left my meal that hadn’t turned up. By 6:20pm we asked for the manager. She arrived and apologised and said she would remove 4 meals and the drinks to which I pointed out all bar 2 meals we inedible and I still an hour and a half of waiting hadn’t got mine. Eventually she said she would waiver the whole meal and drinks. Pizza Express Tonbridge if you can’t cope with the number of tables don’t book them.

Very poor service, was more interested in the customers that had ordered for take out. Toilets were disgusting and smelt really bad. And dough balls were flat not fluffy line normal. Very disappointed.

Disappointed! Cold day and no heating within restaurant. Not many people at the time, so needed some gentle heating. I ordered Lasagna. Very disappointing! At a cost of almost £16 I would have expected a great Dish! Unfortunately, there was very little meat - mostly passata. I asked for Tabasco. None. Dye to the cist of this dish, with very little (to none( meat, I cannot recommend. Perhaps teenagers and kids are not as expectant????

We had Eddie as our waiter, and he was super lovely and kind. He entertained my grandad and laughed at his questionable joke, and was a delight to have as our waiter.

Went there for dinner with my partner tonight. What an awful experience! We waited 20 minutes to have our order taken. The drinks came out quick and they were good, however, my starter arrived (waitress literally threw it on the middle of the table) whilst my partner had to wait another 15 minutes for his starter as they had forgotten about it. They literally cleared my starter and then brought out my partners. Our pizzas at least were good! The atmosphere of the place was quite poor, we had the table next to us which was members of staff on their day off and they had a special treatment with the manager overlooking their table very well. I think some of the waitresses need more training on table service and greeting customers at arrival. We understand they were busy but it’s not an excuse for poor service.

Incredibly expensive for what it is

First visit to the Tonbridge restaurant. Lots of positives. Menu for the grandchildren was excellent at a very good price, £7.95. Service was good and very friendly. Food excellent. Only one big but, which was the price of one piece of garlic bread. £5.65. Seriously??

I just wanted to leave a review because we had such fantastic service our waitress Rachael was brilliant. There was a large party of us but she made sure we had everything we needed, nothing was to much trouble. The food and drinks were extremely good. So all in all a very lovely place to eat in Tonbridge.

Thought we would book a table in here as my sister just recently moved to the area, and we was able to walk to this location. From the outside it’s lovely, such a nice vibe as the high street is very clean, and has some really beautiful buildings and a river. Upon entry we was shown to our table right at the back of the restaurant, which was okay, however we seemed to be forgotten about once seated. After some time we made our order and got our drinks. My daughters dough balls arrived first, and then 45/50 mins later our pizzas come. The waitress told my mum they had burnt her pizza so she’ll have to wait for another, no apology nothing. They then forgot about my sisters dough balls and the halloumi bites were soggy and not very nice. Once we had pretty much eaten our pizzas they brought my mums pizza, she had opted for a margarita, however, for it being just cheese and tomato they seemed to lack in the cheese department. Not only that the waitress was extremely rude and aggressive, we asked to speak with the manager and he was clueless, he had to be told to apologise. I will never step foot in another pizza express again, they are overpriced for an underwhelming Experience.

Great service , good hot food , only negative restaurant was half empty and they stuck everyone in the middle together making it feel cramp, toilets where run down and needed updating also bug enough for a 5 a side kick about There was a burning smell although nothing was burnt , our meals all came out together apart from my sons but was 3 to 4 mins behind but no big issue would go back again

Visited on a Wednesday evening so relatively quiet inside. Shown to the table as soon as we got there and drinks order taken fairly quickly. Not too long after, our food order was taken. It was a quiet eve so food came pretty quick! Used the app to get a free side and pay the final bill. Manager was really friendly as well as the waitress.

What a rip off £16 for a pizza the size of a tea plate. Never would I pay to eat in here again

I've avoided eating here for a number of years because, despite many staff changes, the service has not been great. Not any more! What lovely waiting staff and excellent service. Everyone had a great, friendly smile and was very attentive. I'll definitely be back.

Firstly staff were very attentive and seated promptly. Drinks were also served quickly despite them having a n z suavignon blanc on the premises, which they were unable to serve us! The pizzas were smaller than usua,l tasty toppings, but dough was crispy bottom but soft middle base! The rocket salad was a disgrace only grated parmesan instead of flakes.

I swear they're cutting back. A chicken pizza for £15 with six pieces of chicken. There's still the dramatic colour scheme, but if you inspect what's on the pizza I swear someone in management is now measuring out the ingredients and the result is meanness. It's a shame, because the ambience is lovely and the staff are excellent. But to sit there counting the pieces of chicken, unable to believe the chef's been so ungenerous, is a bit sad...

Good location across the road from Tonbridge Castle and on the river, this was a busy and noisy restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime. Tables are quite cramped together. Like most restaurants prices have crept up. Service was friendly and the pizzas were fine. Separate vegan menu with plenty of choices if required. Good fixed price kids menu, although a drink isn't included in the price.

Had booked a table for myself and my family and they were so accommodating. One of our party needed to use a wheelchair and they got the ramp out for us to use and it was a smooth and dignified experience, we weren't made to feel inconvenient. Food was lovely, staff were lovely, will be coming back.

Only reason 4 stars as when I booked I asked not to be sat near the kitchen or noisy area but we were. When I queried it (as they had other free tables) they said only one available! Hmmmm. I will return though as food and service are great!

Shocking quality for the price of the food. I ordered a £16.45 Burnt ends Romana pizza, which sounded delicious and was meant to come with pieces of slow cooked beef brisket on it. It had 1 visible piece of beef! I was so annoyed I asked for some beef on my beef pizza, so they warmed up 5 more pieces. Not even enough for 1 per slice. Absolutely shocking for a product that probably cost them a pound to make. They also had 5 kitchen staff all stood around chatting not doing a lot. They'd be better off sacking some of the uninterested teenage staff and putting some toppings on the pizza. I won't be going again. Terrible chain food staffed by people who ultimately don't care if you ever go back.

I didn’t rate the food and I’m a pizza Express fan! But this was not good. Kitchen also was filthy and toilets the same! Really quite disappointed and didn’t expect this….

Forgotten our order waited for more then a hour. Staff friendly but clueless. Should be handy for the manager to do something about that. Pizza arrived after more then a hour and not cooked, a pity won’t come back

Very enjoyable evening with a bit of seasonal greeting

We have eaten at this Pizza Express almost every week for over 10 years. That must be close to 500 visits. It is our go to place for the end of week family catch-up. Reliably, consistently good, both in terms of the food and the staff. And we have lived though various iterations of the menu in that time and several generations of staff. Not perfect, they occasionally produce food that is not great and staff are often young and in the process of being trained while earning little more than minimum wage. But they are just human. And speaking as someone who has eaten all over world, and in one year alone ate at every Michelin star Restuarant in London (a record I suspect), I remain impressed at a Restuarant that can turn out such tasty food week in and out, with a friendly welcome and generally good levels of efficiency. It may be that at peak times it all falls apart for some people, which I can imagine, but we always go off peak. So it remains part of our family life which we all look forward to and really enjoy pretty much every time. In fact I am genuinely looking forward to our next visit!

Pretty sad! Go in with my son who is 4 years old. Starting ordering food, such a shame the waiter/waitress took my order did not even asked bout the ALLERGY😏😏 unlike other restaurants. Great food yes but the customers Service is blunt!

So disappointed at our dinner in Tonbridge, the staff were very nice and helpful against all odds. Warm beer, I had 1 beer if you want to charge nearly £7 a pint please at least serve it cold, dirty glasses, soggy Calamari, no Jalapeños they had run out, how do you run out of Jalapeños in a Pizza restaurant? 2 glasses of wine nearly the national debt. 3 children and 2 adults cost me £170 - REALLY It’s a pizza not a steak restaurant. I won’t be going to Pizza Express again anytime soon.

Expensive and bitter, €18 for a greengrocer's pizza, and there were more expensive ones

The food is great, I like the fact we can view the cooking area. We sat outside and it was absolutely lovely, especially in the sun. The menu has changed for me as I have not been to Pizza Express for a while. I loved the new additional items and the thin based pizzas was great. I have always enjoyed Pizza Express and Pizza Express didn't disappoint, especially located next to the river and a sunny day.

Dinner with work mates, we were a table of 10. The waitress was very kind and fast even though she said she only started 2 weeks earlier. She also helped to apply some vouchers to our bill. Food was as expected, very nice!

Will not be coming back. Very long wait for the food and missing drinks. Strangest bolognese sauce ever - with fennel and not sure what else. Definitely not the comfort food you’d expect. Cesar salad had a fish (possibly a sardine?) served on top, really odd. The lettuce didn’t look very fresh either. Very, very disappointing. Sadly no one asked us how the food was either.

Wrong order, missing foods and bad quality, burnt pizza. Supermarket pizza is much better.

Vegan pizza came incorrectly as the vegetarian version for the 2nd time - happened when we here last as well. Vegan salad a bit disappointing - asked for more hummus. Staff friendly and helpful. Waited a while because I think a lot of take out orders on. Everyone enjoyed desserts that were ordered.

Lovely location, friendly staff, food hit the spot too. Time taken for food to arrive was overly relaxed. We gave up on ordering dessert as the one course had taken two hours and we feared how long pudding and coffees might take to appear. It was ashame as it is basically a nice restaurant.
