Pizza Express in South Kesteven

We had a bit of a wait to be seated, everyone seemed to be busy but it would have been nice for someone to acknowledge us sooner even if it was to say someone would be with us when they could. Service was good and friendly when we were seated. The food was very nice!

I enjoyed the lunch and the service was good. However, I was disappointed to have been charged for a glass of tap water!!!! Attached is a photo of the bill. We did not have a "cordial jug" but did have everything else on the bill. I can only assume that it was a charge for the tap water. If so, that is very poor. Update - Nearly 3 weeks have passed since my initial feedback and as I'm not planning on making a special journey back to the restaurant to "show my bill" to prove that I was charged for water (possibly), I did upload a picture of the bill for review but have not heard anything more. Not very good customer service.

Stamford branch is such a friendly restaurant, the staff always go above and beyond and the setting is just perfect.

This Pizza Express is in a pleasant location overlooking the river in Stamford. We went on a Thursday evening when it was about half full. The food was the usual Pizza Express fare and good quality. However, service was very slow. There were two issues. Firstly, they seem to be doing a large take-away/delivery trade which I think causes delays for diners in the restaurant. Secondly, our server kept disappearing which, given the smell when she served us, I put down to her going out for regular cigarette breaks.

I very much enjoyed the starter and then pizza I had for main course. Tasty and well prepared. The kitchen area is in the centre of the restaurant. The chef working there would throw things instead of placing them. If he could make a noise, he did. Very disturbing and not a pleasant eating atmosphere. Clattering pans and plates endlessly. Food good, noise very bad.

Had a lovely time at Pizza Express Stamford. Food was good, children looked after, the price with the kids eat free reasonable and the service and server excellent. Sadly it is all too common to find poor service in restaurants these days but this is not the case here. Well done all.

Nine members of our family ages ranging from 5 years to 70 years visited on a very busy Saturday evening for a Birthday celebration. We all had a three course meal which was lovely. The service was quick, efficient and the waiter was super friendly. The 3 youngest grandchildren enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the pizzas. We all enjoyed the busy but relaxed atmosphere and did not feel rushed at all. Even though staff busy my husband was presented with a candle on his desert and a rendition of Happy Birthday. A very good experience - Thank-you Pizza Express 🍕 😋

Went the other day and at first thought the food was a bit expensive. but once it arrived it was clear it was prepared with care, love and fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. So in terms of value for money 10/10 only negative for me was a family with 3 kids crying and occasionally screaming(won't be the case for everyone) but ignoring that the theme of the architecture and furniture paired with the service of the very polite and hard working employees I can confidently recommend to anyone wanting to treat themselves or friends/family to a sit down meal at the end of a busy week. You won't regret it. 5 stars

Will never go back! Has to be one of the worst experiences of dining I have had in a long time. The level of noise in that dining room was absolutely horrific!!! Cutlery being thrown about, plates clattering, staff shouting, guests raising their voices constantly , in order to be heard above the awful racket!! Tables too close together and food not good enough to put up with it all!! Exhausted looking salad and overdone pizza. Wow!!

What a terrible experience we had during recent visit to this small town Stamford. We are visiting from Florida, the owner first won’t let us order pizza around 9pm asked his kitchen staff if he has ingredients? What? If you are open for business you must serve or change your timings. Next day we decided to go earlier in a day, he won’t let us dine in coz we did not have reservations even though half of restaurant were empty. I have reason to believe the owner is racist and prejudice. I am a restaurant owner, he should have find a way to accommodate his customers. I checked online he had tables available for reservation. We decided not to spend money on his “pizza shop” and ate lunch at Turkish place. If he is in Florida I would have taken him to court for descrimination. I wonder if he is a franchisee they must take action against this guy rude and non professional behavior.

Arrived 10 minutes late for a booking and the greeter tutted and looked at his watch. It was like being shown to my table by Basil Fawlty. Not dining here again.

We are not local but visit the area once or twice a year. Have visited previously and despite the great food the service was extremely slow. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. Seated promptly and drinks came quick. Hurray. Starters then about half an hour later….but then normal service resumed as we had to wait well over an hour for our pizzas (nearly 2 hours after arrival). Just not good enough. We could see the kitchen and they are constantly firing our take away orders which seems their priority. The pizzas were lovely like last time, but the wait was just toooooo long. We live nearly 2 hours away and it just made us much later home than we’d expected. So if you have time to kill, go along as the food is nice but put about 5 hours on the car park ticket!

I have eaten in this restaurant many times and been happy, unfortunately that wasn’t the case tonight. I ordered my normal leggera pizza and the base was really thick, despite being described as a Romana pizza on the menu. It made it very dry with not enough topping. The whole idea is that this is a light option so please don’t make the base thick. I was asked how the food was and I told them of my issue with the base and was dismissed with a we changed that ages ago. I pointed out that the menu still says Romana and was told - yes that’s very confusing. I have come home hungry. Felt that my complaint wasn’t taken seriously at all

Always a great night out, food, staff, service all excellent

We visited for a midweek lunch using a gift voucher given to us for our first wedding anniversary. We were seated at a lovely table outside along the river and every single member of staff we passed was super friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, probably the best I’ve had in any Pizza Express. Above all else the service was incredible, we had an issue with our gift voucher and the manager in the restaurant couldn’t have done more for us. We are incredibly grateful. We will absolutely be back again! Thank you.

This is my favourite restaurant. I love it. Never had a bad meal in all the years I have been going. Would love to see my favourite starter come back though. Bruschetta con fungi.

The food was absolutely gorgeous! No complaints whatsoever. My friend threw me a surprise birthday party and Pizza Express even Brought out the cake and sang Happy Birthday! Highly recommended, food and service of high quality.

They lure you in with “offers” like free starter with a classic pizza and then when you have chosen you have to select off some tiny highly restrictive menu where nothing appeals! Forcing you back to where they wanted you to pay their outrageous prices! Then what eventually arrives is very at best mediocre! A real rip off when for the price you can have a proper Italian meal elsewhere! Will never go back!

A warm welcome greeted us, great table near window, not busy as just before 3 on a Sunday afternoon. My Padana was absolutely gorgeous 🤍 hubby enjoyed his Burnt Ends although he thought was a bit spicy! Just had cokes. I love pizza express but I believe £40.60 for two pizzas and two cokes is a tad expensive, we went as we had been bought a Christmas voucher and this or Tesco vouchers is unfortunately the only time we would go. 😔

my boyfriend and i came here for my birthday meal and it was absolutely fantastic! i don’t eat cheese so i had a vegan pizza with ham, mushroom and pepperoni and it was delicious, vegan cheese was much nicer than any other i’ve had before. he had an american classic and said it was lovely too. the service was fantastic and so quick, our waiter was lovely and attentive. i’ve been here many times over the years but haven’t been for a while. would go back again and again!

Ordered for collection, we only live a few doors down and never had a problem before. Ordered a pizza which was fine and Penne Al forno, when we got home the toppings on the pasta were black! My partner brought it back and the awful woman Chef tried to tell my partner that its prone to burning. The only reason im giving a 3 star for service is because the gentleman behind the desk agreed it was burnt and couldn't appologise enough. If the lady had dealt with it i feel this could of been a different situation. I work in hospitality myself and i do not work in a chain that is nearly as expensive as this establishment and i wouldnt dream of telling a customer im sorry but the dish you ordered is just prone to burning. They replaced the order thanks to the gentleman but the second time the pasta was rock hard and not edible. I'm gutted because we love pizza express but the food at Stamford pizza express has gone so downhill. The server was good but you definitely should look into replacing the cooks or providing more training.

Clean, warm and comfortable. Food was hot and speedy. Alin, the Italian gentleman was a fantastic waiter and knowledgable about the menu with great recomendation. The other staff were also very polite and upbeat which is nice to see. Will happily go back. Never having dominoes again 🤣🤣🤣

Standard pizza menu is good, offering tasty (but rather pricey!) variations on a theme. They offer a GF option for the same price, which I opted for, but this turned out to be a rather small and mean affair. What was worse, the pizza base was extremely doughy, soggy and tasteless. I honestly have done better with Shar bases and my own sauce.at home. What was encouraging was their response to my complaints. I immediately got a second GF pizza, cooked a little longer to crisp it up. Good intentions from the staff, for sure, but they couldn't make the substandard, bought-in, base much better, no matter how much they tried. Pizza Express need to source much better GF bases. While their customer service was good, I really expected a better GF product from them.

The staff seems a little stuck up. They showed us to our table. We were waiting for a little while. But the lovely lady who served us was amazing, she was very attentive and extremely helpful. The food was well presented but not a lot.

Ordered a takeaway from here, it was delayed 2 hours and then they decided to cancel the takeaway. It was going through uber eats but ordered via the Pizza Express app, neither uber nor pizza express would refund, my family member decided to go out and collect it herself in the dark because she didn’t want to waste the food, they wouldn’t deliver it and they wouldn’t give us a refund. As expected, it was stone cold by the time we got it home. (It was probably stone cold by the time she left the house seeing as it was delayed 2 hours.) 2/5 for food since it was stone cold by the time it got here, but would’ve probably been alright had it been reheated. 1/5 for service seeing as there quite literally wasn’t any. 5/5 for atmosphere because I don’t really know what to put here since it was a takeaway.

We were staying in a Stamford hotel for a couple of nights, so decided to have dinner at the Pizza Express for one of those evenings. We didn't have any reason to regret it. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was good, and staff were efficient and very pleasant.

I had a great experience at this Pizza Express, the lady serving us was very kind. I was surprised when they started speaking in my own language, which was lovely. Food was also good, and brought out quickly. Would definitely come here again.

This place is the best pizza express I've been to in years, you're right next to a river and the atmosphere is really nice, the food is a straight up delight and I will definitely visit here again in the future.

First time at this particular Pizza Express, ordered Polla Forza and my husband had this and pepperoni ( a twin combination you can have) Both Excellent pizzas, cooked to perfection, ate the lot is was delicious, staff were quick, we were seated quickly as we asked not to be near children- noise factor and they sat us in a quiet area, thank you. Located just off the River bridge so you are in a lovely location. Will be back again to eat here when next in town.

This is a regular branch of Pizza Express set alongside the bank of the River Welland in the upmarket town of Stamford. It has a good number of tables as usual set around an open view kitchen area. There are also about three tables set on a balcony over the river but I have never seen these open for use and the chances of staff remembering you are out there are very slim. The food was average Pizza Express fare although I am always surprised how the same pizzas look different every time you visit or between different branches. I thought, especially for nutritional information purposes, they would all be made exactly the same rather than allowing them to be open to interpretation or maybe some chefs are lazier than others in the way they prepare things. Also the chilli oil was incredibly mild to the point it wasn't worth bothering with which is a shame as I particularly enjoy it. Staff were friendly enough but were very slow and didn't pay enough attention to what was going on. This led to our children getting bored and restless for what should have been a simple lunchtime meal. We ended up being there two hours when we expected to be there one hour. The toilets were clean and respectable enough although we were there not long after opening so there shouldn't have been a problem. The gentleman's toilet needs to be better signposted. A number of men accidentally use the ladies as it isn't clear where the gent's is. In places the restaurant is looking rather tired and could do with a bit of TLC but in the current climate I doubt that will happen. On the whole it is ok and perfectly acceptable but it just backs up my idea that going out to a restaurant no longer has any wow factor and you are just as well eating at home and saving money.

Really dissatisfied and disappointed with this branch. Ordered multiple pizzas on deliveroo well in time before closing and they kept pushing back delivery time. Ordered at 9:30pm, they accepted, made the pizzas; said they couldn’t find a driver been waiting for hours until 11:30pm- TWO HOURS. They had shut at 10pm and obviously just threw away the pizzas and went home. Luckily deliveroo helped me cancel. Will not be reordering.

Pizza was delicious, fresh, service lovely, but prices have gone up so much, it can not be considered family friendly anymore. Lots of our friends no longer go due to same reason. You can eat restaurant meal for the same or lower price in other places in town. They used to have regular special offers, vouchers if booked online. They have a new app now to collect stamps but you would have to spend hundreds of pounds to benefit from them. Unfortunately we won't be going very often like before.

PizzaExpress hosted my nine-year-old sons birthday party with his friends. The team were absolutely brilliant. The chef was very patient and everyone were very welcoming. They even prepared an extra pizza and doughballs for my daughter who wasn’t really involved.

Had a very poor experience this evening that has put me off ordering from Pizza Express in the future. Ordered through their website and it said it would be delivered by Uber Eats. About 10 minutes after the food should have arrived, with a child getting hungry, I thought I'd better check the tracking only to find that my order had been cancelled! Apparently Uber didn't have any drivers to deliver the order so they just cancelled it. We ended up driving to the restaurant to find out what had happened, re-ordering and waiting for the food to be cooked, then driving it home again. Now, I realise it's not ENTIRELY Pizza Express's fault as Uber cancelled the order, and PE was out of pocket because they'd already cooked the food and had to bin it. HOWEVER... 1) PE could have just phoned me up to say Uber couldn't deliver and we could have offered to come collect it; 2) They have chosen to work with Uber Eats when they are clearly unreliable; 3) The text message said to contact the restaurant for more information but they don't answer the phone- they just have an answerphone; and 4) They didn't even offer us any sort of discount!!! They were apologetic and sorted our order out quickly, but offering a discount is the least of what they should have done after the massive inconvenience and late dinner we had and I was pretty shocked that they didn't do this. So while it is completely unconscionable that Uber can take an order and then cancel it half an hour later, once it's already been cooked, there are an awful lot of things Pizza Express could have done to rectify the situation but didn't. Just a small effort at communication would have easily resolved the situation.

Staff were polite and friendly atmosphere was nice a day relaxing food was fantastic and enjoyable, although I did mention to our waitress that my pizza was nice but it would of been really nice to have had more than 3 beef burnt ends on it, she oh I'm sorry I'll speak to the chef with that she took our payment and I didn't see her again.......😡😡😡😡😡 That was the only let down

Pizza Exp dining experience is very good. It is a bit pricey but for all the right reasons.

A lot of restaurants could learn from the staff here - I eat out a fair bit. But in recent months many places have been very disappointing because of their service - not so Pizza Express Stamford. The service here is standout. From the minute you are greeted at the door, to the pizza chefs (on show) smiling and twirling their pizzas. It is a busy place, but service is always prompt, friendly and helpful. 8 of us went for dinner before an event. The food - mainly pizzas, sides, and puddings was very tasty. The building is lovely and it is always busy so has a good atmosphere. They are reliably excellent. Well done - if only other places were as friendly and reliably as good. Well done.

We ate here today and it was very good. When we arrived we were quickly shown a table in the main area overlooking the river. The food was excellent, I ordered the barbecue pizza and my husband the Paneer Tikka, the pizzas tasted lovely and were cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and professional.

Been here numerous times and always a good experience. Relaxed atmosphere and well thought out lay out with sections that can be dedicated towards larger parties. Meaning the rest of the dinners are undisturbed. Food is consistently good and hot. No complaints after years of attending!

Staff were great and food was delicious

We were a party of 7 including 2 children for an early dinner on a weekday after seeing a local matinee. We were early for our booking but were still welcomed warmly by a lovely friendly waitress. Orders were taken and delivered quickly. Food was of the usual good standard we expect at Pizza Express. Good all round and an easy family-friendly option.

The food was amazing today in pizza express. They welcomed us with lovely starters, the main menu was a pizza it has done with chef Walid full of flavour and we finish with special coffee served with ice cream, this is my first try. We came back tonight because we well welcomed last time in our son's birthday, well dedicated from his parents 's friends. We will come back in valentines days. See you guys on Friday with friends.

Seriously bad service. Walked in seated fine had to wait for ages for somebody to take an order, lots of attitude from the staff, manager was appalling, chef was brilliant and came and said hi, complained to the manager who laughed following a group meeting with the staff who also kept looking over and sniggering, shan’t be going back and needs to have a staff review, especially the manager who laughed in my face when I complained. Had I of been a mystery shopper I would have scored 1/10 and the 1 was for the food, and the chef, nothing else.

Great food, good staff and service

We love visiting Pizza Express in Stamford. The staff is always really helpful and fun. Last time we have visited the restaurant with my sister's family who has all sorts of allergies between them. Pizza Express has a great choice when you have these kind of issues and the waitress was brilliant with explaining our choices. And the food tasted absolutely lovely.

Had a table booked at 3pm yesterday , we arrived on time and were ignored by staff on reception as they took payments from diners that were leaving , we waited 10 minutes to be shown to our table . The restaurant was empty . We then waited a further 10 minutes and were not offered a menu or drink so left the restaurant . No wonder it was empty . Won't be going back .

Lemon & Herb Chicken Wings were good. Sloppy Giuseppe pizza was not bad either. Good service and staff.

Lacking in plant based options. Offer a dairy alternative for teas/coffee in order to have the only dessert What we did have was lovely 😍
