Pizza Express in Belfast

I had the nicest time in pizza express on Bedford Street! The stand out thing for me was the waitress Sophie she was incredible and nothing was bother to her! Everyone was so welcoming and the food and dessert was amazing! Thank you so much Sophie for making my experience that even more special!

When ordering we noticed on the menu under 2 vegetarian pizzas that their would be a charge of 25 p to the charities of Pizza Express's choice. We asked the waitress to have it removed. It's a small amount yes. However we do not like being forced to pay to a charity that we aren't passionate about. No business should force customers to pay for their charity. How would pizza express like us to ask them can they pay to a charity of our choice? Even worse was the charge was stuck on 2 vegetarian pizzas! So has vegetarians we didn't have much options to choose from. The waitress said they cannot remove the charge and argued her point. The manager, I think named Sylvia, who we asked also to remove the charge told us no. She was also extremely unprofessional and rude, telling my partner to shush, as kids in the restaurant! He wasn't even loud or didn't swear. What a disgraceful attitude to customers. We ended up leaving. The restaurant was empty, even though it was St Patrick's day and all other places were full. I'm not really surprised if staff have terrible customer service skills, frightening their customers away!

We had to wait for ten minutes for the bill and another five for them to bother to come eith the card reader. Food was burnt. Would be one star but the atmosphere was wuite nice. Cost seventy pounds for 4 pizzas and one starter. There was gum on the chair and got stuck on my trousers.

Went on New Years Eve, pre-pantomine, with 8 kids aged 6 to 15. Staff were pleasant and helpful and food was good with all kids enjoying their meals. One small complaint was that my prawn pizza had very little prawn on it. Otherwise enjoyable experience.

Our go-to place when in town for shows or concerts. Some of the nicest staff we've ever met. Special mention for the lovely Sophie, with her warm welcome and excellent service. Food is always excellent (the list below misses out some favourites, such as the Padana I had this evening), served promptly and good value.

Shrimp starter not great pizza good

Awful. Seating arrangement really bad. Food not served until 1hr 15mins after arrival. Service was appalling 1 person looking after about 40 diners. Orders were wrong and pizzas were mediocre. Service was added to bill and would have removed it except the single server was slammed so it wasn't their fault. Will never go back poor quality poor value poor service.

Yea, Pizza Express. It's good, Their Bedford Street building is really nice. I actually think upstairs is way nicer. I've noticed their prices have crept up quite a bit over the past few years. 1 adult, 2 kids, dough balls, pizzas, deserts, drinks - 80 quid. That's an expensive pizza!!

Me and my daughter ended up here because we couldn't get a seat in witherspoons. Glad we did cause we had a nice meal and it was great.

Arrived as a walk in group of 3 to a restaurant which was empty apart from 2 sets of other customers. Greeted by a manageress who clearly believes she's very important and working in a high class eatery rather than a chain restaurant. After considerable tutting and reflection we were shown to a table. Ordered dilute juice for 3. The excuse for a jug would have measured little over half a pint! Doughballs were OK, pizza was alright the pollo pesto pasta was bland, bland bland. Extremely overpriced for what it is. Easily get a proper 2/3 course meal for less than chain store pizza. Despite the inflated, self opinionated ideas the manageress appears to possess this is not high class dining. However, the prices are certainly on the overpriced end of things

A very frustrating and disappointing evening spent here tonight. A few of our party arrived 15mins early and I informed the staff member if this was not convenient we could come back, to which the staff member responded with "its better for us that you are here now as we will not have to take a load of orders at once". We were hurriedly given menus and at the same time I asked if we could order drinks the staff member seemed a bit flustered and in a rush and responded with "I've just to take another order over there first then I'll get drinks". We had specifically came here because of the £8.95 deal on classic pizzas as advertised on the website, however when we asked about this we were told it was £7.95 if you download the app, there was no mention of £8.95 for non members as advertised. Our party of seven proceeded to download the app which was an ordeal in itself as it involved signing up as a member with email, using a verification code, having to enter our postcodes twice as it doesn't accept the first go and a few other frustrating attempts that meant we were on our phones for ages rather than engaging with each other. We all felt like giving up which would have meant paying near double for the same pizza. We told staff that we specifically came for the deal and were told that unless we downloaded the app and that particular offer then we would each have to pay full price of £13-16 per pizza. The manner this was explained in by a woman I assume to be in charge was quite blunt and as if she were fed up with the whole thing which is understandable as it must be highly frustrating for her and the rest of the staff. In fairness to her she helped us to sort the discount at the end using the app but the owner needs to sort this out as staff did not seem overly happy to be working there, they seem very stressed and frustrated and this does not make for a pleasant dining experience. The food itself was pretty basic, definately not worth £13-16 so I am glad we got it for cheaper although still not worth what we paid. Overall a very disappointing experience which has put me off ever returning to any pizza express again.

Unless you have a smart phone and are willing to download apps,place orders and subscribe etc then don't bother going to this kip. It's twice the price if you want to order from the menu and pay there and then! There is no restaurant experience as such and it's just a food establishment consisting of everyone staring at phones. Also it's one order per person per app, so if you invite your partner then they need to have a smart phone with them for the dinner too. The staff were not too helpful or friendly and the prices were all exceptionally high. Maybe the set up suits some people but it wouldn't be for me personally and I won't be back!

Well it should be called Pizza excuse, the worst Pizza Express experience to date. Pizza arrived un cooked and doughy in the middle, sent it back and was horrified to see that they put it back in the oven with rocket salad on and returned to the table. May as well have defrosted a supermarket pizza or is that where they come from Frozen ready meals no no longer fresh?

I did not enjoy this pizza. It was tiny and the amount of ingredients on it were laughable. For the price you pay it is a rip off. I’ll say that if you offer tiny pizzas at least put a lot of ingredients on it! I order to take away, so imagine my frustration when I arrive home, open the box and saw that teeny-tiny pizza lacking ingredients… not recommended at all!

Loads of people at tables, so it is normal to be noisy and I can't say it was quiet.

I’ve been visiting this PizzaExpress over the years since it opened in the 1990s- never have I experienced such a rude manageress! When we requested a different table to the one we were shown to, she was annoyed & reluctantly offered us a table at the back, despite the fact that we had booked the table several weeks before. The food was adequate, though not as good as previous times. Prawns were overcooked, pizza was not quite as requested. When we went over to the till to pay, the rude manageress slammed my bill onto the counter- did not even hand it to me- the same with the receipt!’🙄

Took forever to be served, not that busy. Portions have got smaller over the last couple of years.

Great food and service. We had two very young kids with us and the staff were very patient and helpful.

Granted we were the fiat ones to arrive on a Tuesday so not much atmosphere but the lasagna looked straight out of a supermarket ready meal - the fancy kind and the carbonara was next level bland. If you have lost your sense of tastes and smell during covid this will take you right back there. Like eating texture.

Ordered 💷70 food for delivery, the driver said delivered while nothing received at all. Tried to call the restaurant 10 times but in vain! Also sent email to them while received an email saying blocked by system. 12th July celebration date we got so chicky experience from here! Update: Even they reply on the Google map, still no any reply from customer service team email after I sent another email.

Pizza very good, calamari was wonderful and the staff was excellent and very friendly! It was definitely worth a visit!

We went there 4pm 3 people Sunday 11th June , restaurant was empty but waiters standing at till looking at us at door & took 10 mins to give us a table then warned us we must leave restaurant by 6pm . Restaurant has only 3 tables. No smiles or anything. Waitress took water before we finished she left . Food served like drop food on Table . NOT AGAIN AT THIS BRANCH

Awesome Pizza, especially the Romana base.. tried the Padana pizza, and loved it.. Linguini Pasta was nice as well

P E is getting somewhat expensive for what is offered. Registered for their "club " but app would not open. So no special offers available. Pointed this out to staff who couldn't care less. Food was good but atmosphere was indifferent.

Walked in with my daughter at 8pm to a half empty restaurant to be told there were no tables free. So we left and reserved a table online for 8.45, just because we were exhausted and hungry after travelling all day, and we knew that PE are coeliac accredited and therefore safe for me to eat there. When we returned the waitress rolled her eyes and said 'ladies, I can't serve you!'. We were extremely confused at this, as they were open and we had reserved? She said we cannot serve children after 9pm. Well my daughter is a young looking 18 year old- which we could have told her if she had only asked! We were given a table and I ordered gluten free doughballs and a pizza to share. We checked with the delivery of each course that the food was gluten free, and told yes it was. However, within an hour of eating I had a severe reaction to gluten and was extremely unwell. So disappointed- always had great experience in the Edinburgh and Livingston branches- they are far busier, but the service and the food standards are always amazing. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs- nothing good about it!

Manager juts a really bad manners! Ask for the bill two times he didn’t even look at us. I believe managers should set up an example for their staff but he was actually doing the opposite. The food nice and the waiter really good but manager juts an ash….

Been in many pizza express restaurants.... and although the food was ok..... the topping on the pizza was extremely sparse for £14.95.....and the lasagne was a lot if tomato but not much meat.....been in other more generous portions ..... but nice enough.

Delicious pizza! Crust was nice and chewy, yet delicate. Great blend of flavors and zucchini fettuccine was also great!

Péssima pizza atendimento horrível fomos atendidos por um Jovem que me pareceu ser o proprietário minha esposa pediu para sentar numa mesa a qual tinha uma banqueta parecia de mais conforto o qual foi negado por esse rapaz que nos disse que ali era para 4 pessoas sendo que o ambiente estava vazio e por fim vimos esse mesmo rapaz sentado comendo uma pizza sozinho numa mesa pra 8 pessoas uso nos deixou mto chateadosmais a pizza e mto ruim e o atendimento péssimo recomendo a quem quiser comer uma pizza procurar por outro lugar.

The quality price of carbonara on my point of view wasn't good. Next time I'll try the pizza and eventually modify the rating. The service was fast and friendly

Had paid for pizza and dessert, had to wait over half hour for dessert, when we Asked about the dessert was told another party upstairs,,reply ed that I had paid for it and it only one dessert 35 min got it as I was about to leave

Slow service,and they switched the coffee machine off at 9pm, however after some discussion,those who wanted tea and coffee were served. Very disappointed.

Took a large group of volunteers out for dinner as a small thank you for all their hard work. We waited at least half an hour before our drinks order was taken despite the restaurant being almost empty. Next, one person's meal was unavailable but she wasn't told this until all the main courses were being served so she ended up with salad and garlic potatoes for dinner. To put the final nail in the coffin we were told that the coffee machine had been turned off. This was at 9pm. The restaurant doesn't close till 10!! Turns out they were so slack that they wanted to close early and so had turned it off without even letting us know. We had to argue the point that this was unreasonable and insist on having coffee. They even had the temerity to say that there had been a delay earlier in the evening - there had but it was THEIR delay, not ours!! Very, very disappointed.

We booked for a pre panto dinner for 5.15 and were seated at this time. We mentioned to the staff we had to leave at 7.45 and asked if we would have time for 3 courses as the restaurant didn't appear too busy. We were told probably not but would definitely have time for 2. We ordered mains at 5.30 and at 6.10 we were told our pizzas would be 5 minutes. At 6.25 our pizzas arrived. The child with us had to wait an extra 5 minutes and got really quite distressed by this point. We had asked if we could pre order dessert at 6.15 but no one arrived back to take our order until 6.30 by which point we realised it wouldn't be possible to have this given how long the pizzas took to arrive. The food was nice enough when it arrived (apart from one chicken pizza had no chicken on it) but we just couldn't enjoy it as we were so rushed and stressed by this point. When mentioned to the management that the service wasn't good enough we were told it wasn't their fault as everyone wanted food at the same time. I'm not sure whose fault it would be then as the restaurant/the manager accepted all the bookings/ walk ins. If the right level of service can't be provided the tables should not be seated. Just to note the one girl who served us was fantastic and was clearly busy so it was not her fault. So disappointed as have had so many good meals here in the past. Will not be back again and will be letting everyone know of the disappointing experience.

Went out of their way to find us a table even though it was really busy. Service spot on and really nice pizza. Great experience in Victoria Square.

Really enjoyed this place! Excellent for food sensitivities (truly excellent, with an easy allergen menu and competent staff who genuinely seem to care about getting it right). Servers were great with kids, and meals and drinks were all better than expected. Even the picky eaters downed it all!

First time at this Pizza Express, me and my wife had a great time. It was busy because of a concert, but Chris our waiter went out off his way to get us a table. He also kept making sure we were well taken care off, all while having a laugh. Food certainly filled a hole but the service was amazing! Thanks again Chris, will definitely be back!

Very average visit. Went here for dinner before a show at the ulster hall and really unimpressed. The restaurant only had two tables in when we arrived and I’m presuming she was the manager stood there talking and looked directly at us and finished her conversation before seating us. When seated she walked us over to the table set down the menus and walked off without even asking if we would like a drink etc. We then had to ask to order as all the waitresses (bar one) were standing round talking and ignoring our attempts to get service. Really not good service but I do want to highlight a blonde waitress with red lipstick who had a smile on her face throughout our whole visit and just seemed very happy.

Staff were friendly and greeted at the door which was nice. Kids meals are well presented the size of the pizza was adequate. Main meal pizzas were yummy too

Pizza is good, but it is not express at all. We wait for 30m for just a pizza. I am not sure how much effort need to prepare a regular pizza.

I was very disappointed. I went in, was ignored for about 5 minutes which was quite annoying, then the manager came to me and told me in a most brutal way to wait outside, no "hello", no "sorry", no "please, would you mind..." Just a point of the finger towards the door leading outside and a face showing a lot of negative energy. I did go out, I did not come back and certainly won't ever come back! I went to Nando's accroos the road instead which was more welcoming!

Pizza was good. Not as nice this time around, have been a few times but this wasn’t as good as others. Also asked for the red berry and white chocolate cheesecake to go since it was near closing, rushed home because of the icecream scoop only to find there was so red berry sauce on the white chocolate cheesecake. Was quite disappointed, not the same without it wouldn’t have gotten the cheesecake otherwise. Staff was friendly though and helpful

3 out of 5 stars because of service- I can’t fault the food but left feeling pretty angry by the service yesterday evening. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and normally no issues but on this occasion, we were rushed as we we were told to vacate our table by 5:45 and as we approached that time, 2 members of staff lurked around our table and made us feel very uncomfortable, even though there were several vacant tables available for this imminent rush of customers they were obviously expecting !!- we booked table for 4:15, what’s the point of booking if they still treat you as a walk in and second class- surely they should concentrate on maintaining customer satisfaction with current diners rather than prioritising for next shift - had 3 very rushed courses and bottle of wine followed by indigestion. Won’t be back but I assume the staff will not care less about my comments!!

Have often been here as the food is usually excellent and service quick & attentive however this evening we went at 8:10pm as a family of 5 to be informed by what I can assume was the manager (no uniform!!) as one of our party was under 18 we would have to be out by 9 and so could only order a main course no starters!! Checking the website they actually give children until 9:30 once seated to eat their food we ordered the food was lovely we also ordered desert as it was only 8:45 when we had eaten our mains and another round of soft drinks & a cup of tea these never arrived and I was aware of the manager + 2 staff standing at the bar area unoccupied but making us feel distinctly uncomfortable so I went & paid at 9:15 asking that the drinks we never received be removed. I will not be going again after this experience as standards have definitely slipped!!

Arrived at 8:05pm as a family of 5 told by “manager” no uniform! Our 14 year old son would have to be out by 9pm so we could only order mains. The law actually states 9:30 to allow him to finish!! We had finished our main by 8:45 ordered dessert & second round of soft drinks and a tea however whilst the manager & 2 other staff stood glaring at us behind the bar area our deserts arrived but the drinks did not at 9:15 I was so uncomfortable with the service & attitude I went up & paid the bill asking them to remove the drinks!!! I also observed another customer having to go and pay her bill at the counter it seems our waitress who was very pleasant was run off her feet whilst surrounded by lazy co workers another customer had spilled her drink & had had to move to one side so she wasn’t sitting in the spillage to finish her meal we would go to Pizza express often but I will be going elsewhere in future!!

Ordered online for collection at 1815, arrived at 1820. Told order wasn't ready and had to wait another 20mins. No dedicated collection point had to wait at the drinks counter (people eating there dinner less than a foot away). Customer service not great but the food tasted lovely!

Disappointed not informed straight away what is out of order asked for extra prawns not available. The gluten free pa sta tasted the same what ordinary one. Bill came out over £30 what for?

I always love Pizza Express. On this occasion I went with my husband for a meal to celebrate my birthday. I had the Padana pizza, unfortunately the caramelised onions were not available for it, this is the first time I am aware of this happening. I had a lovely still lemonade drink. Overall, an enjoyable meal.
