Awful tuna jacket to oily and smells very vinegary. Tried calling the Shop to complain number doesn’t exist. £6.70 for an over priced awful tasting potato that I now can not eat won’t be visiting again ever

I have visited this cafe at least 3 times a week for the last two years! the place has a great relaxed atmosphere and really family friendly.the food is Italian based but they also do lots of English courses. The soup is delicious!! lots of space...comfortable seating ...relaxed music....great food...lovely friendly staff! what more could you ask for? give it a try you won't regret it.

Excellent value for money..had the afternoon specials..lovely sandwiches..cakes and drinks..comfortable surroundings..friendly service.

Stopped in for a Latte Coffee and a Bannana Milkshake..nice friendly service..pleasant atmosphere..Bannana Milkshake was really good..very good prices

Impromptu visit for a quick cuppa, ended up having an afternoon tea. WOW, it was enormous! You could have a choice of sandwiches from the menu (which normally is set) and 4 different cakes, delicious & fantastic value!!! Definitely worth a visit.

We have just been for afternoon tea - by far this is one of the nicest we’ve had. The atmosphere is relaxed, chairs comfortable and staff friendly. Sandwiches tasty, as were scones with butter and jam and the chocolate orange cake was delicious. This is such good value for money. We are very full and satisfied

Love the lounge feel of this place with the sofas and arm chairs very comfortable. Just misses out on 4 star as they really need to invest in an extractor fan as when they are cooking it does become very smoky sometimes very strong.Having said that they do a lovely cappuccino which is lovely and hot which is quite rare for other places.And a very nice pot of tea .

This Cafe is clean and warm, service was good, with a smile. Music subtle, which is great for chatting. The Sofas are really comfortable really home from home. The toilets are kept locked, but again clean. Maybe I'm out of touch with prices, but I though £8 odd for 2 sausage rolls and coffee a little excessive.

Very affordable and cozy place. The afternoon tea for two and tea is only £10! Great for an informal meet up. Just a bit chilli at the back sofas, might try a different table next time.

Looking for some comfort food after visiting the Grayson Perry exhibition at Firstsite in Colchester, we found the disappointing in-house cafe sadly lacking in menu choice, comfort and atmosphere. So we set off to find a nearby alternative. Battling through wind and rain we found this cafe just around the corner. Well worth the effort!

Popped in again whilst in town..and it was terrible..other half had scrambled egg on toast..egg was watery and unedible..it was dumped on toast .making it soggy..a real mess..I had a bacon sandwich.,the bacon was not back bacon..goodness knows what cut it was..but it could not be eaten..WILL NOT BE BACK.

This friendly and comfortable coffee shop is a great place to relax with a cup of tea or coffee and beautiful, simple and delicious home cooked food. I recently had the vegetarian pasta with garlic bread and salad. It was truly delicious. My sister had the lasagna and she was just as impressed as I was! The staff are so friendly and accommodating. If you just want a half portion they are so obliging. The salad you get with the food is so fresh and so tasty. They do not skimp on the portions but the food is so delicious you dont want to leave anything!

When shopping in Colchester..an ideal place to stop for breakfast..snacks..coffees..Sundaes..opposite Peacocks..near Sainsburys..also next door to the best nail bar in Colchester..warm friendly service

Called in for a snack..other half had a lovely sandwich and a lattee coffee..I felt like something different..so went for a Strawberry Sundae..they said would be short wait..they had to get strawberries..but it was one of the best I have had..so worth the wait.

Came in for tea and something quick to eat. Our pot of tea for two was massive, and not too expensive. We had little baguettes (bacon, and sausage and egg) for about £3-4 each, which we couldn't fault, and the service was very prompt. The place itself was nice - sofas in one part give it a very relaxed feel, which we enjoyed - although we were pretty much the only ones in there when we went, so can't comment on what it's like when busy. There are also two or three small tables outside, where one can smoke if need be.

Great cafe..in a good location in Colchester..in town center .does a really nice breakfast..and good lunches..great ice cream treats.

It's so lovely to have a local coffee shop to break up all the huge coffee chains! The service is fast and the staff are friendly. The food is plenty and the prices are extremely good. It's a great place to go for lunch and we've been several times - will keep going :)

Nice big coffee shop with good food to old style furnature adds a bit of style would be nice if they had waitress staff though

Will not be returning here. We came a few months back and was not happy with the service but the food was ok. This time the breakfast was cold, despite the bacon being overcooked. Everything came at different times, the drinks were forgotten and many others had also had to remind the staff that they were waiting for orders as well. When we mentioned it the waitress looked blank. Will not return. This is obviously why they ask for payment before cooking the food!!

We managed to find a table quickly for a lunch time walk in but wish I it was too busy to accommodate us!

A very nice cafe very clean great staff food was lovely nothing to complain about there but for the £8 odd price for the breakfast as nice as it was to be fair the breakfast was £6 odd but the flat white that you would expect to come with the breakfast was £2 odd at nearly £9 I expected a little more great food but price needs looking at

I have been here a few times and it's always a pleasure! Such a wide selection of food (which you can pick and choose from if there are ingredients you do/don't like on the set menu). Milkshakes are divine, highly recommended them! Only downsides can be other people, but that can't be helped.

Cosy warm comfortable little cafe..English breakfast was great..also pannini was nice with a little salad..good location.

Very impressed with menu and service achieved since the change of ownership. Visit today was for a quick snack before moving on. One of us had the all day breakfast which was more than sufficient while the other had a jacket potato, with salad. Huge portion!

We came to Colchester from Cambridge for the day so by the time we had parked and orientated ourselves my husband was desperate for food. We literally stumbled upon this place - it has a restaurant part and a cosy sofa/armchair area for tea. Although it needed a lick of paint I really liked the latter but we came for a sit down lunch. We both ordered paninis which initially we thought were expensive but when they came out they also had a side salad on the plate. Food was ok, but what was strange was that the 2 serving waitresses hardly spoke to each other, both were sullen looking and each just got on with their own task. It's a shame that there is no warm welcome here as the place is in a good location with lots of potential. Don't know what it would be like later in the day as we came here at 11.30 am.

Popped in for ice creams and that is exactly what we got. Very relaxing atmosphere and the ice cream was great :) tasted of good quality. Sofas were comfy too hehe

Piatto is a very nice cosy little coffee shop. The food is lovely and I especially enjoyed the hot chocolate!

Have eaten here several times for breakfast and lunch, and food has always been good. Reasonable selection of items and not too expensive

Warm friendly staff..service with a smile..had fruit and ice cream..did not have fruit..so sent out for it..Apple..bannana..strawberries..kiwi fruit with two scoops of ice cream..ideal on such a hot day 30c..other half had latte coffee which was good.

We sat on the most comfiest seats and had the most moist piece of cake ever, the staff were very friendly and i noticed a b ox of toys for the kids in the corner

Had a small snack on my lunch time break with family members, asked for drinks which was served fine.... ask for scones.... also served fine... but tasted stale and looked dry, crusty and fell to pieces when cutting it in half.... not only did I order 1 scone, but ordered 3.. for 1 of us each... each family member stated how stale they were, I told the ladie behind the counter.. she replied.. oh they had them freshly delivered this morning from bakery. the question is.... when were they made in the bakery?, certainly not that day, nor the week before im guessing!! asked the ladie to sample one.. when she bit into it , again it crumbled and she stated... it tastes fine. three people complaining yet 1 staff saying its fine... no apology or even scones deducted of bill.... proves this place has already got no respect for customer service. as you can see fro the photo... a crumbling stale mess

I dropped into this place briefly a few weeks ago to have a look at the folk club that meets here on the occasional afternoon. The music was rather pleasant, so on deciding to stay I walked up to the bar and ordered a lime and soda. The serving girl stared at me blankly, before asking her manager how to make one, which I found slightly peculiar. She then asked the manager how much she should charge for it; so not only do they not teach their staff how to make fairly basic drinks, but they don't even seem to put them on the menu.

Coffee shop that serves snacks etc..had a breakfast..was not the best in the world..other half had egg on toast..was Ok..tea had a funny taste..coffee bitter..will not rush back..only good thing was comfortable settes..

Dont know about the food or coffee, but the drinks are cheap and the salsa rythms on friday nites are groovy. If you are into dancing, this is your best pick in town!

Had the misfortune to pop into this place for a bacon butty and coffee. What we were served was atrocious. Cheap flat white rolls a burger van would use filled with cheap fatty anemic bacon that hadn't been anywhere near a frying pan or grill. When we asked for ketchup the waitress disappeared into a storeroom and appeared shortly with sachets she dropped on the floor before handing to us.I had a coffee which was ok but not brilliant and my wife had a soft drink. We paid £10.60 for this culinary delight which probably didn't cost the establishment more than £1.50.Truly awful!
