Phu Siam in Shetland Islands

Rather quiet when we visited, so no real atmosphere. Attached to a guest house so a slightly strange need to ring the doorbell to get in. The food was plentiful, reasonably tasty but not as highly seasoned as I am used to from other Thai restaurants. Beer was bottles only. Not expensive, but not cheap either, so overall worth a try but not outstanding as a dine in experience.

This restaurant is within the Glen Orchy hotel. The food was lovely. The service was slow and lacked attention, possibly due to language barrier.

We initially missed the entry to this Restaurant as its actually located within the Hotel, so you just need to press the button and the Owner will let you in. Delicious Thai food is to be had, promise . We never would have expected to find such good quality Thai spices in Shetland, coupled with a generous serving of the local seafood, made a very memorable dinner for us. Thank you for your hospitality and good quality food...from two very happy Outback Aussie customers. PS all the food was delicious...its was too hard to choose just a main, so we both had entrees as well ha ha ha.

Though hidden in the Glen Orchy Hotel this authentic restaurant is run by a lovely Thai family you would expect from Thai restaurant. Having worked in Thailand I experienced the same taste here in the Shetlands! I had the Panang Beef, my wife her standard Egg Fried Rice with Shrimps … well prepared and tasty!

Had a really tasty Pad Thai before catching the ferry to Aberdean. I wasn't expecting to find a good Thai restaurant in such a remote part of Scotland. I have lived and worked in Thailand so I know how a Pad Thai should taste and I wasn't disappointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Booked for 6 people with varying tastes and really couldn’t fault our meal. The food was fantastic, everyone got something they liked ,the staff were friendly and really helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommend dining here if you like Thai food.

The meal was delicious, shame the green curry wasn't terribly spiked with chilli. Otherwise a great experience.

Authentic Thai​ Food.​ So​ Delicious

It's not really that easy to find an open restaurant in Lerwick even in summer, but it was a good thing we ended up at the Phu Siam on the first evening, because the food is really delicious. A big menu with all sorts of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes to choose from, a big choice of wine to go with it, and the service is enormously friendly. We went there again the next evening, of course!

Here on Sunday evening, didn’t book but no problem. Wide range of dishes, fresh, tasty & colourful. Would come again.

Food is good. I had satay for starters and jungle curry for main. It has around 12 tables. I do think more people go for takeaway than sit in as the takeaway seems busy. Closed on a Monday.

Clean and tidy. Good service and wonderful food and plenty of it too.

Second time visiting here, and can't fault it. Lovely attentive service, great food and very reasonably priced. We got 2 mains with sides, 2 starters, 2 alcoholic/soft drinks and a pot of tea for under £50.

Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted with a smile and kindness. The place was empty but it was still early. The tables were all ready and clean. A television with images and videos of Thailand streaming and paintings hanging. I didn't see any windows in the room. The staff advised us on the best combinations to make. The order was served quickly and the food very good at very good prices.

Good price, and ok+ food. Great for takeaway.

Absolutely delicious, would highly recommend. The staff helped advise us with the best food to our tastes which was phenomenal. If you find yourself in Lerwick make sure you find this fine establishment.

First class Thai food, fresh ingredients, super tasty and plenty of it. Friendly staff and calm atmosphere.

It was a cold and windy day, so I ordered the Tom Yum with chicken. Cook asked me if I wanted spicy or extra spicy. I took of course extra and did not regret. A very good authentic soup with a bit of sweat!

Ate here on a quick trip to Lerwick. Great service, excellent food and pleasant surroundings. Ribs were huge. Unlike other reviewers we found the staff very friendly and attentive. If you like Thai give it a try.

Good authentic Thai food, pleasant service & very reasonably priced.

Food was very good and lady was very helpful. But had to keep most of our clothes on as heating wasn't on. Would certainly go again or maybe have take away if it was winter.

Not good, worst decision I’ve made this month but everything served was aufull even the sparking mineral water with lime in I couldn’t drink it. I felt they couldn’t care less and they didn’t. Realise Shetland is a bit out of the way but no reason to take the piss. Very very disappointed

A neat enjoyable restaurant with good food and service, a rarity in the centre of Lerwick.

This is my favourite restaurant / takeaway in Shetland. Food is always freshly cooked and full of flavour. Normally an Asian takeaway leaves you feeling bloated and unfulfilled. Not this one. The owner and staff are very friendly, it's always nice to test my badly spoken Thai which usually gets a laugh.

In Lerwick for business, and nearly missed it but inside you get a friendly welcome and nice Thai food at a reasonable price. The inside is extremely basic but you are there for the food. They also do takeaway.
