Nice pub, great landlord, & service, a little bit quieter last night than usually Disappointing they don't serve, Strongbow or Guinness anymore!😞. Some of the most popular drinks around. Good selection of lagers & real ales. Just not to my drink. Hence the 3 🌟

Proper pub, selection of beers and some ciders. Food, although we didn't have a meal there it was busy, always a good sign. Pleasant staff and friendly crowd. Nice visit!

Really tasty Sunday lunch. Choice of beef chicken, pork or a mixture- have the beef - it's beautiful. Gravy's great too and reasonable prices.

A good place on certain nights to have a chat with your friends. But also the weekend is with band's of all types but a very good atmosphere. Friendly barstaff and a good array of beers and larger. A recommendation I would definitely give. 😁

Was nice and quiet when I was there.

Came here for Sunday dinner with the in-laws when we were visiting from London. I'm vegetarian and it is still difficult for me to get a proper meal when we go out in the area, especially when it comes to a roast (unsurprisingly). Imagine my delight then when I was offered a Quorn roast as a substitute, and was told that there are often other options available like nut roasts! My veggie gravy was brought out separately too - the bonus being that I had an entire portion of it to myself - and all of it was done with minimal fuss and maximum smiles. We all agreed the food was very tasty and the prices were standard at around £10 a head for dinner and desert. Our only complaint was the size of the Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and roast potato. They were TINY and you only get one of each. This is a small issue but let's be honest - those 3 are most people's favourite parts about a roast dinner! If this could be improved we would come here every time we visit.

Lovely atmosphere, great welcome & a fantastic choice of ales.

Good atmosphere, great selection of drinks. There is nearly always something going on either bands, quiz night or other things. The only reason I marked it down a star was because every time I come here the glasses always seem to have little black bits stuck at the bottom. Even though I speak to the bar staff about it they seem quite relaxed about it, and just offer another drink rather than sort the problem.

We joined the music quiz which was great fun. Plumb porter on draught was delicious. A great night had by all.

The Pencelli pub is probably one of the best pub's in South Wales with a Fantastic range of real ales and great entertainment and always a warm welcome

Excellent "local" pub with good selection of real ales, ciders and wine. Superb live music venue in Thursdays and Saturdays. Fabulous Sunday lunch with the best "cooked in ale" beef you'll ever taste. Friendly bar staff always ready with a smile.

Just had the nicest lunch with friends. They have a new chef and menu. All freshly cooked from scratch, I had home made fishcakes with chips and parsley sauce, the rest of the group had bangers and mash, chicken curry and thr tastiest looking steak pie ever. Would definitely recommend!

I have just returned home after a fabulous night around the valleys, utterly ruined by a final visit to the Pencelli hotel in Treorchy for a friends birthday, the music was great, a cracking live band, all in all a great night, until last orders, my friend ordered two pints of lager, was given one lager, one bitter, she asked to change the bitter for a lager as she couldn't drink it, the LANDLADY came over, we expected a reasonable resolution, simply swap the bitter for a lager, OK, a lost pint to the pub, but the correct order would be served the landaylady simply said " Last orders have been served, your lucky to get that " , now, if you can't, don't Iike the drink you have been charged for and can't drink it en a simply replacement for the drink which you didn't order because you don't like bitter, would have sufficed, instead, after complaining on my friends behalf, using no bad language, no aggression etc ( being a six foot punk with red hair I am super careful about how I complain etc, to avoid any sort of confrontation etc that folk expect folk like me to be capable of etc , which, really, I avoid). The next thing is the police are being called apparently, despite NO bad language, threats, shouts nor even raised voices. I waited for thirty minutes for the police, if I have done nothing wrong why wouldn't I ? I have not come across such bad public relations in many many years, the bouncer who was the one who " removed me" which was dead easy as I made no effort to resist then said to the folk with me he didn't know why the landlady ( his wife😅) was acting .ike that as far as he could see I hadn't done anything wrong " but he had to back her up" . The pub is great, the music fine, the landlady ? She really really needs to do some front of house training, you cannot treat customers like that no matter how narrow minded you are,the staff member made a simple mistake after a long shift, everyone does, but the boss ? They should deal with things better than look at a six foot bloke with red hair and not think he deserves the same respect as any other paying customer, my only other gripe is that I have to chose between one and five stars, there should be a minus stars option, because her attitude wasn't only rude but provocative in the extreme, standing behind her bouncer hubby chucking in provocative comments which had I reacted to would have fullfilled their expectations of some looking like me, a six foot, red haired punk( who runs his own business, works alongside CAMARA and also works with some of the breweries she sells ale from, NEVER look at someone an think they don't deserve your respect, manners and good service because they look weird, makes you a bit of a bad choice for someone to run a public house IMHO
