Awful service, rude and unorganised. Nothing was ready to go, not even chips and it was 6pm! The only thing that was on display was a saveloy that he poured some hot water on in an attempt to take the chill of it….it didn’t work. I asked if they had any hot pies and was told no but we heat them up in the microwave, why would anybody pay for a soggy microwaved pie? My friend just wanted a chip butter but was told there was a five pound minimum card order! Useless place. I can only assume it’s under new mismanagement as it always use to be very good.

I have had a bad experience with Peggoties. Firstly the fish was inedible, the batter was undercooked and extremely soft. When I called to voice my concerns the manager told me that I was the 2nd person that day to complain and that it was a bad batch of batter and that next time I ordered I could have my fish and chips for free. I’ve tried twice now and everytime the manager is not around to authorise - funny that! Food nowadays is not cheap and having spent £35 on 3 lots of fish and chips that we could not eat is not acceptable. I wouldn’t ever go back and advise everyone else to steer clear.

Having lived in Hadleigh for 4 years i finally visited Peggotys for the first time last Friday. I bought food for four, two adults, two grandkiddies, we had sausages, steak and kidney pie and two portions of chips. All was very nice, the chips in particular were really good, proper chip shop chips ! It was well priced and the staff were nice and friendly. We will definitely back, a local gem for us in Hadleigh.

A great fish and chip shop! I would most certainly recommend a half chicken. Chips are always brilliant whenever I’ve ordered them from here. Lastly, they are reasonably priced.

Went into the shop Thursday 4th may for cod and chips waited over half hour for them but when we got home the chips where like lunch time chips reheated was disgusting and having to pay £14 plus for the food and I am a pensioner and thought I would treat myself I won't be buying chips from that shop anymore x

Fast and amazing service, cleanliness was not an issue. I ordered a haddock fish with their scampi fish, loaded with a nice crunch to it (highly recommend) and was amazed by the freshness and crispiness of the fish, this was by far my third visit to Peggottys and I will definitely be visiting again. It includes reasonable prices with large portions, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Food is out of this world. Very busy when we came in but understandable with the quality.

Excellent fresh cooked fish and chips. I was given what they referred to as a medium cod. It was huge well cooked crispy batter. Chips cooked just the way I like them. £8 for cod and chips and because of the quality it was worth it. One thing I do need to mention, get rid of those awful cheap ketchup sachets at 30p each with nothing in them and get the heinz ketchup sachets with a decent amount of sauce in them. Small thing and would definitely not put me off. I know where to come for fish and chips in that area!

Don't know what's gone wrong with the chips lately?! The last 3 times we've had them, twice as an evening meal with other items and once on their own at lunchtime they have been awful. Need longer frying as some have been on the raw side and are not crispy outside. We drive up from quite a way as our local chip shop wasn't very nice and thought we had found the perfect one, by-passing many other's en-route.

Waited almost an hour for my order. Phone orders take priority. Food was average when I eventually got it.

Food is ok but not particularly well priced. People say the potions are large but again, in comparison to where. All the chippys round here are similar. But the wait isn't worth it. Theres no where to park and it's on a busy road. Even if you phone your order through you'll still be expected to wait. I'll find a new chippy to use even though this is on my door step

You will have to wait while your order is cooked but the results are well worth the wait. just don't try the veg spring rolls as they are rank everything else 10 out of 10

We could walk to our local chippy but I would rather drive to Peggottys. Fabulous chips, Large portions - usually have to queue but worth the wait.

Probably the best fish and chip takeaway for miles. The fish is always cooked freshly to order and the chips are excellent. Beware large orders if not booked ahead. You may wait for 20 minutes or longer. Smaller orders are quicker. The service is friendly and efficient. Recommended.

The fish is always cooked while you wait and so are the chips i go on a Tuesday and i phone tell them i will be about 10 minutes and when i get there the man is just putting the fish on.i only get one potion of chips because there is a lot the staff are very helpful and friendly
