Peckham restaurant in Argyll & Bute

Very long wait. Not great value and not great food. Had been before for lunch a year ago and loved it. This experience was not the same.

Thank you for fitting us walk ups on your busy Mothers Day lunch. Brilliant drinks and wonderful lunch made great memories of our trip

We booked here last week for a family lunch for 10 people before a family event. We were booked in for 12.15. I arrived just before 12 and there was no one about. Eventually I shouted hello and a member of staff came out. I said we were booked for 12.15. Waitress said sorry, no food today, staffing problems. I said perhaps they could have called to let us know. Yes, maybe we should have was the reply. My wife then received a call at 12.06 and an email at 1.30 to advise of cancellation. Girl told my wife they knew yesterday about problems. We had travelled over 40 miles to be met by this awful service. Thanks very much to the wonderful Sugarboat who managed to fit us all in at short notice. Can't see this place lasting long if that's how they treat people willing to spend some serious money.

Didn't actually go, tried to book but although they open at 10, they said food started at 12 and they couldn't guarantee a vegan option. Why open at 10 and why put vegan breakfasts on the menu?? Not filling me with optimism for a future visit when there are lots of options in town.

Taken time to write this as had tried via 2 emails to get a response form management on the Christmas Day disappointment.. 7 of us including 1 elderly person & 2 kids 5 & 9 years.. last sitting of the day but that shouldn’t have mattered.. Pre paid & pre ordered meal but they’d sold the prawn starters to others who hadn’t so no prawns & all the adults had ordered them! Apologies galore so we carried on.. long wait & 40 mins in before the re chosen Brake brothers style starters.. despite asking for the kids order to come with the starters no sign.. 90 mins in before the kids got anything… Rest of the meal it was clear we’d the last of the days food, sparse main course & luke warm & well by then we couldn’t wait to go.. A free drink was offered & accepted but seriously unhappy & passed on to the what appeared very junior team, who did try hard no doubts, but who also advised they’d ’chef problems’.. So disappointing on a one off day.. emailed the restaurant to let them know & was looking for some form of acknowledgement & recognition of the poor customer experience that day, was not looking for anything more & we’d paid in full… No response, nothing, sent. 2nd email, late January, the same, no response, clearly the management have chosen not to deal hence this review.. A shame as it’s a new venue in town & promised so much, but we won’t go back now, no confidence the management value their local customer base & that tells us all we need to know..

Both my partner and I had really lovely, different meals here. The wine was also delicious and reasonably priced. Looking forward to the deli opening. The staff too were so welcoming and cheery.

My partners Cullen skink was "ok" according to her and my fish and chips were very disappointing. Fish was fine but rather small and the chips were inedible due to being covered in salt with a tiny ramakin of peas. I would have said something at first but the staff were pretty much absent from the bar most of the time. No condiments were offered and no one asked how our meal was. I mentioned the chips when paying and the member of staff said "sorry, I'll tell the chef". I wasn't looking for a grovelling apology or a free meal but the sullen attitude of the young woman gave a 'couldn't care less' attitude. Plenty of great places to eat in Helensburgh so we will be giving this place a miss.

Lovely staff, stopped in for cocktails and snacks very welcoming to us and our little dog. Nice chicken club sandwich, cakes , wine and cocktails and Really went above and beyond for our little dog too bringing him water and adding on an extra side order for him 💖

Booking for the 31st of December on the limited tasting menu you would think this is an easy service as only 3 or 4 tables were taken . Made even easier since every course was bought in from a local supermarket . Canapés - Scotch egg quartered , Smoked salmon on something and mini Falafel burgers you get in the party pack . Starter . Ham Hough Terrine which was really Brussels or Ardennes Pate straight out the packet . Mains were Salmon with a cutting of pastry and Steak Pie which still had the shape of the corners from the container it arrived in . Dessert was a Cranachan , or if you like a slice of sweet puff pastry with a dollop of cream and blueberries. This was not a cheap meal in a sub zero temperature restaurant and since we were guests of our local friends it was also embarrassing . When a word was had with the manager/ owner the excuse was the Chef had not turned up , but very soon the bill did . Change of Chef is no excuse for inferior and even incorrect ingredients that would have been ordered and prepared way before the day . Needless to say we will avoid on our next visit .

Been for food once and drinks in snug bar several times. Food was very nice and service good. Really love the snug bar. Bar is small and bar fittings and seating are all lovely, along with open fire. Toilets are well done & upstairs rooms look great. Please get rid of painted chubby people on the walls though in bar & restaurant, they are really not good quality or pleasant to look at. Art is generally a bit of a miss. Too many lights in small bar now too, better when darker & moodier. Also would be better if back room of restaurant made into bar area with stools around the counter for bar food. This place is nearly here. Really want to see if do well. Staff are enthusiastic and helpful.

We went for Christmas dinner and it was a complete disaster 40 minutes before menus were given. Another 40 minutes for starters to arrive. One starter was missing and we were told it sold out at the last sitting too late to choose an alternative. Main course turkey was dry and overcooked. Earlier sittings may have fared better. Dessert parfait served in a warm glass! No festive decor on the table, brightly lit like a canteen. No festive atmosphere. Staff were young and although they tried their level best they were clearly overwhelmed. Pleasant and friendly but not very experienced. All in all a complete disaster for Christmas dinner.

Thank you to all at Peckhams for Making our xmas day super special. I would like to name staff but all were amazing. Service was a bit slow ; but so it should be on xmas day and we had a long lazy dinner with amazing food and great atmosphere: c u next year

Having checked what was available on the online menu we booked a table, when we arrived the place was empty and very cold. Menu was completely different from the online version and we were told a number of things on the menu were unavailable. The food we did eventually receive was at best very average, service was slow considering we were the only folk in there. Waitresses seemed disinterested in customers and when we tried to choose a dessert we were again told our choice was unavailable. Save yourself the trouble, better food at a fraction of the price, in a properly heated environment is available at nearby Spoons. We won’t be back
