Noisy Noisy Noisy . Don't you just hate places where you have to read the menu with the torch on your phone? You can't have a conversation as its to loud in there.Its ok for teenagers but not for adults. I never got to eat in this very overpriced Beefeater. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of ripping me off.

Excellent steak and service. Music a little loud. Smaller spoons for deserts would be nice.

Pasture was a highlight of our trip! The food was spectacular and the service was fabulous. Would HIGHLY recommend and would go again the next time we are in Cardiff!!!

Visited Pasture for 10th wedding anniversary as it have been highly recommended but what a disappointment the food was ok had better elsewhere, service was slow and poor.I got up to go to the toilet and slipped on the floor and nearly went down reported it to one of the girls at the front but nothing was done about it, only on leaving the restaurant and checked the bill noticed an optional 10% service charge added without my knowledge will definitely not be returning

I took my wife for her birthday, it did not disappoint. I'm not a great lover of steak, but if you're gonna go for steak, go somewhere proper and order something proper. For sharing, the Chateaubriand is a winner. Sides were all tasty, wine flowed beautifully. Good restaurant, good location, priced as expected.

Amazing place food is top notch

We visited this place as a family of five, our daughter's have been twice previously and said it was amazing. The first is top class and tastes amazing fro the way it is cook to presentation. The staff were very friendly and engaging especially our waitress Veronica she made sure we had everything we needed and made our experience a very pleasurable one. The meat just tasted amazing in fact all the food looked and tasted beautiful. It was more than obvious the cefs take great pride in what they cook and produce. The only small negatives is the music wasn't to my taste I thought it was awful and it was too loud, we were sat on a large round table and it was difficult to have a conversation also to speak to staff it was difficult to hear.

Went with a couple of friends for lunch and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals we can remember. Food excellent, cooked to perfection and the service brilliant. Highly recommended.

Our first visit to Pasture last night to celebrate my partner’s birthday and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Firstly, the service. Impeccable! Extremely welcoming and friendly but authentically so, not forced conversation. Our waitress was attentive whilst giving us time to read through the menu/ enjoy our meal etc. I tipped 20% which says it all I think! The food. We had the crispy squid starter which was delicious and well presented, then shared a chateaubriand for main with the ember potato and coal cooked cabbage. Presentation, taste and portion sizes were spot on. The meat was cooked to perfection. Wine. A great and extensive wine list with many at very accessible prices. We had the Valpolicella which was a perfect pairing with our steak. Birthday marshmallows were a very nice touch and the perfect end to the meal. We finished our evening in Nightshade, the cosy speakeasy bar downstairs where we finished off our wine in a quieter setting and enjoyed a fantastic cocktail as a night cap! The barmen there were super knowledgeable, attentive and friendly too. Overall, a brilliant night and well worth a visit - we will be back! Our spend per person was on the higher end as we opted for the most expensive steak … but it was worth every penny 😊 Thanks to all at Pasture for a fantastic evening

Simply fabulous. Cocktails to start and end the meal were very special. Our Spanish waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel very special. The food was exquisite. The restaurant was full, so a super atmosphere. I am having my hen night here. Can't wait!!

From arrival we were taken and sat at our table which was in the corner of the restaurant , it was a nice cosy setting, we were served by Monica who was attentive , excellent with providing options and had superb knowledge of the food, we had the chicken wings and rib croquettes, which was to die for absolutely sublime! Sam the owner had a fantastic setup here , I’ve had many steaks in through the years but we had 650g worth of chateau briand cooked medium rare, which I must say is by far the tastiest steak I’ve ever had, served with a side of - broccoli, truffle chips- these are scrumptious , the roasted carrots- cooked to perfection, accompanied with peppercorn sauce, we had the chocolate fondue cake to finish, we had a few bottles of wine and tiny rebel pints to accompany the meal, I think the whole price was £200- considering the quality of the food, the excellent service, relaxed atmosphere, Sam has a great setup here and we will definitely be back, massive shout to Sam and the team on your great work..

My wife and I took a 16 year old yesterday to celebrate her birthday. It was a really good experience for us all from start to finish. Friendly, efficient reception gave us a nice table, big enough and not too close to others. The room was full and buzzy but you could hear and hold a conversation. The menu is not too long but everything on it looks good. Matteo was our waiter, cheerful, relaxed but efficient. The starters jumped off the plates with great presentation and flavours. We shared a massive tomahawk steak which was cooked exactly as we asked and brought to the table well rested and nicely carved. The wine list has a good wide choice of sensibly priced bottles, we enjoyed a Malbec. The sides were real standouts, full of flavour. And finally, the best tiramisu...

So good the first time, we had to fly 8,000 miles round-trip to go again! We're from the US and have twice visited Pasture on day trips to Cardiff from London while on vacation there. Both times were absolutely amazing! Everything about Pasture has been great, from the incredible food to the wonderful staff and everything else. Our first time there last year, we stopped in on a whim for lunch on a damp day. Fortunately, we were able to get a table without a reservation. It was easily one of the best meals we had on our UK vacation. Then, we just stopped in again this past weekend on our current vacation, again without a reservation as we thought we might try somewhere else... but remembering how the total experience was in August 2023 as we walked by, we decided we had to try it again, this time for the famed "Sunday Lunch!" Not only was the food amazing again, we were absolutely floored by the price; for 500g of Chateaubriand, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables, roasted potatoes, spinach & leek gratin, and butternut squash puree, the price was an incredible 80 GBP! (Oh, and the complementary short rib croquettes we received for ordering a house cut were an unexpected but *very* delicious appetizer!) Even on just this vacation we've had meals that were more expensive for not even a third of the total amount of food we got... and that's nothing to say for how high-quality the meal! We didn't get leftovers for that price; it was all that anyone would expect from top chefs! All that coupled with an inviting and warm atmosphere, great staff, super location in Cardiff, and more made for a second tremendous experience. Who knows if we'll ever be back here since we live across the Atlantic, but we sure hope that if we've been there twice in 358 days that there will be more visits in the future to this amazing restaurant! Our only disappointment for the whole meal was that we forgot to take a picture before we dug in so we could show friends and family who didn't believe us! :) Thank you to the entire Pasture staff for another great experience while on vacation!

Fantastic service. Amazing food. This was the best meal we’ve ever been out and had in our lives. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The service was friendly efficient and extremely professional. I would highly recommend going to Pasture for a special occasion, or a date night. Its a venue which offers great music, great food and a wonderful atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back again soon and male regular visits.

I was so fortunate to secure a reservation at Pasture as it was my last night in Cardiff. Boy it did not disappoint! I loved the vibe of the restaurant as soon as I walked in. Sophisticated with a warm ambiance. I was seated at the corner table and had the most delicious meal. Two complimentary hors d'oeuvres, followed by my delicious filet, spinach gratin and a glass of red wine. Special thank you to the amazing staff (and I hope I don't omit anyone): Harry, Carys, Fede Tosin, Emily and James! Highly recommend!

We were very satisfied. The food was fantastic. We ordered meat that was cooked to the perfect level and was of very high quality. But the side dishes were also great. We particularly liked the carrots. And are highly recommended. We received very friendly and competent service even though it was very busy. We definitely recommend making reservations in advance. We will definitely stop by again on our next visit to Cardiff.

Honestly, absolutely spectacular. Perfectly cooked steak with delicious truffle and Parmesan fries on the side. The service was impeccable, friendly and welcoming but also extremely professional. This spot is fully deserving of its 5star rating.

Both the restaurant and bar (Nightshade) are great places to chill out. Everything, including the meal and the staff, exceeded our expectations. Will visit again.

I had been looking forward to eating here. And it did not disappoint. Super array of dishes. So busy but staff relaxed and friendly. Food was excellent. Highlight? The roasted carrots! And the chateaubriand. Kudos to Will and Alexandre for making it a super meal.

This restaurant has it figured out: high quality, *good* food, good for local farmers and good for the patrons without the strictness of high end dining. An experienced front of house team (where did they find them??) who serve with such grace and poise, they understand the true meaning of calm hospitality. Even attentive bartenders, who make sure each drink is as beautiful as the last. And of course, talented chefs who make sure the food is cooked and plated to perfection. Alexandru (I'm sorry if I've misspelled) helped make our dining experience truly wonderful, sitting down to walk us through menu highlights which made it feel more personal than just a routine. I hope everyone on the team feels proud of themselves, because the talent and the effort to go above and beyond shows.

We had an amazing time at Pasture. We had a weekend getaway in Cardiff and saw the reviews about this place and thought would give it a go- glad we did as everything was just great. Bella was the one helping our table that evening and she was friendly and professional. We had a nice chat and she was also giving us lots of recommendation. We had the steak and it tasted fantastic. This meal is our highlight from the trip to Cardiff. Recommend this place especially if you are having a gathering.

Used to be our favourite steak place in Wales. We have been here many times, more than 10 for sure! However I don’t know what happened, whether we got unlucky the past few times, or they are having issues with staff retention and proper training… But the service has been quite poor. Dietary requirements completely not followed even after telling the waiter multiple times, and kitchen confirming. Also the chips that were supposed to be EXTRA crispy came out soggy and oily. Service was super slow and steak was overcooked and served cold. Our waiter wasn’t interested in any customer service tonight either, not a pleasant experience overall. Used to love this place but not anymore which is a shame.

It's ok, nothing great, but it's different for everyone

Food was the best there is out there, rump steak on point, atmosphere on point, EVERYTHING ON POINT. Try to get served by SUVIN as he’s extremely helpful when it comes to helping you to decide on food, explains everything thoroughly (Pasture make sure you keep him he’s a great waiter). Just brilliant! From the welcome by the front of house staff, we knew we were in for excellent service. After being shown to our table, we were introduced to Harry, who was looking after us. Harry is a true asset to Pasture. He was attentive and extremely knowledgeable. He went over and above to make sure we had everything we wanted and never had to wait long. He was even kind enough to recommend other places for us to visit whilst in Cardiff. We went for the Chateaubriand... Wow, it was absolutely phenomenal! We have had the pleasure of eating some brilliant steaks, but Pasture really blew them out of the park! We are already planning our next visit!

As our first, well overdue, visit to Pastures we were very impressed with the service. All staff we encountered were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.

This was my fourth time at Pasture and each time I visit it seems to get better and better. The service is always attentive and personal. The waiting staff are the backbone of the restaurant and should deserve more credit. The food, as always, was outstanding. You certainly get what you pay for, and that’s amazing food, lovely surroundings and incredible staff. I’ve never left there wanting more.

First class place, both my partner and I enjoyed a 650g cut accompanied by Sunday lunch. Exquisite dining.We will be back. See you soon.

First the food! Absolutely amazing. To start we had short rib croquettes and squid. Both equally superb. We had a chateaubriand for our main and it was cooked (medium rare) to perfection. Our waitress Isabella, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the food and took time to explain what she would recommend. She was very attentive throughout and made our evening just perfect. The manager, James, also took time during a busy evening to greet us. Such a great experience, well done Pasture. We will be back soon, Kate and John.

First time hear, heard a lot about it so tried it out. Booking was for 17.45 shown to a table in the basement where it smelt damp. No atmosphere at all, waiter was a nice guy very help full. Ordered starters and a child' meal and ordered some drinks, drinks came quite quick after a wait of about 45 mins the starters turned up. Then a long wait for the meal. All in all nice meal had to wait to long in a damp smelling celar. Will not go again

Fantastic service and food was amazing took my partner for a surprise 40th birthday the waitress very kindly gave her house chocolate truffle with birthday plate and candles lovely touch best steak ever tasted.

Too expensive for what you get, you walk out hungry, but the servers are very sweet and kind. The prices are way too much for the amount of food and, though not bad tasting, it wasn't impeccable either. Nothing to the presentation either. I couldn't see (taste) anything special with it. Sometimes you can say quality over quantity. But the quality, not being bad, it wasn't up to the price standard for that high amount. Chips where not any particular flavour just tasted like over cooked chipshop ones. Even after three courses we were left hungry and went somewhere else after. You could then say it was the experience but that also lacked for what price it was. The music was more of a distraction than anything and didn't make for easy conversation as It was extremely loud and bass like, It felt more like a night club. If you like that sort of thing just not for my dinner in restaurant choice. And we went during a quiet time, apparently, They still took really long to serve the food. They do have comfortable seating, the tables are clean and some lovely plates and cutlery. But nothing particularly standing out. I just think it's too expensive for what you get, in amount of food, particular. If they lowered the prices, increased the portions and increased the experience (aka lowered the music and increased serving speed), maybe it would make sense. For what it is right now, though the servers are really nice and look after you really well, I would probably not go there again and not recommend it

Second time I've been & had a fantastic experience on both occasions. Your staff are a credit to you. So friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Steak is the best I've had anywhere (along with Asador 44) & the nibbles, starters & sides are a joy as well. A well deserved spot in the World Top 50 Steak Restaurants. Keep it up 👍

Celebrated my graduation here and all I can say is wow! Everything from service to the food, drinks was impeccable! Such nice staff and very friendly! I was amazed by how tasty and tender was the steak and at the end we were offered to take home what we couldn’t finish. Would recommend to anyone visiting Cardiff to pay a visit to Pasture.

Service was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and looked after us through the whole experience. He even turned on the AC for us immediately when one of the guests was talking about feeling warm. He kindly brought my brother some desserts on the house for his graduation/birthday as well which was a very thoughtful gesture. Drinks were absolutely exceptional however food was slightly cold which is understandable given the size of our party. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again. :)

Extremely friendly staff, very happy to serve and great service. We were able to sit outside which had outdoor heating and non smoking tables. We had cocktails which were beautifully balanced. High alcohol content and not too sweet. Perfect drinks before the night ahead. I had the Pistachio and Raspberry Espresso Martini which was delicious. I also tried the Passionfruit Martini which was sweet sour and inclusive of the prosseco shot which was all poured at correct heights. All in all we had 4 drinks in total amd the bill came to £54

Last night was our 2nd visit to Pasture for a meal with a good friend. The music, food, drink and service were all just as excellent as the first time. This has become my favourite restaurant in the centre of Cardiff.

I booked well in advance for the six nations set menue for my sisters birthday visiting from Manchester, as both of us had wanted to go. It soon turned into a family affair, as 3 other sisters had also wanted to go for a long time and had never been, which was graciously accomodated as there was still some availability. We chose the set menu and it took a while for the group to agree and research what we wanted. I chose the fillet steak, while the sisters shared the tomahawk and the porter house. When I booked I was not sure if I had made the right choice of resturant as some reviews said the music was too loud and I wanted to catch up. It was a vibrant atmosphere,but you could still hear what people were saying. Our table was in the cellar, which was nice and a little less people around. 1. Food was flavour full and was quality produce cooked well. I had the fillet steak, which was melt in the mouth and lovely. We thought that if visiting in future we would request the larger steaks also not be precut as the meat went cold quickly due to this. Also as a steak restaurant they do cook your steak properly, so my sister who thought she would like medium rare and actually preferred a medium and asked for it to be cooked a bit more, which was communicated politley that it was her issue and not the kitchen and recieved well. 2. Waiter - He was friendly, positive, polite, attentive and professional and kept water topped up as well as retaking drink orders an checked in on food. 3. The atmosphere is a cohesive vibe, which I would call rustic farmhouse or wine cellar. I would visit again at some point, but I would be a bit more careful sitting down as the sharp brickwork wall scratched up the leather on my black versace backpack, which was the only damper for me on an otherwise lovely evening. Not many photos as we mainly took video. Went again with no booking, service and food again 5*

One of the best steaks I've ever had. Fantastic food. The sides are a very good size. What a little gem in Cardiff. Service was exceptional from the moment you arrive, very friendly and spend time to explain the menu. A lovely touch of a free chocolate to celebrate our recent wedding. Thanks for a lovely night!

Food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented; that's possibly the nicest bearnaise I've ever had. And staff went above and beyond with food intolerances, bringing out a menu with everything that I couldn't have or would need adapting highlighted. Well, what to say. I've been to some restaurants but this may very well be the best experience I've ever had in one. The most expensive, admittedly, but fantastic value for money nonetheless. We were sat to our seats by the fantastic Tosin, who couldn't do anymore for you. Walked us through the specials steaks, the tomahawk, porterhouse and what I ended up having the chateaubriand. Firstly was the starters, spare rib croquettes which was a nice little opener of what was to come. We then brought over tosin to ask what would be the best type of wine to go with our meal, which was a 40quid bottle of argentinian malbec. Not my favourite ever grape or region (price or country!), but was absolutely perfect for the meal. We had deserts, but arguably didn't need any. Eyes bigger than our bellies which were incredibly full after the experience. Stunning meal and wonderful service. Couldn't ask for more.

We came for a dinner me and my wife. We didn’t have a booking. We waited 5 minutes outside the restaurant. A young polite young man came and advised that he will get us a table. He surely did in 10 minutes. Another person called Thomas came and explained the menu. We chose the Chateaubriant thick slices and it was really delicious and amazing. The service we had from Thomas was really extraordinary! I really recommend this place for the nice food, atmosphere, but mainly the kindness of staff!👍👍5 ⭐️

From start to finish the whole experience was flawless, I heard lots of great things about this place, and like anything I wanted to experience it myself to make up my own mind. The steak was by far the most delicious cut of beef I have ever eaten I didn’t want it to end. Highly recommended a full five stars. The price is expensive you pay for what you get. If you haven’t been I suggest you book now. One word….Flawless 🫡

Don’t get me wrong it’s a brilliant restaraunt, food is very good and the service was good (nothing special). Feel it just lacks that something special to quantify the prices. Came to about £100 for a starter, two steaks, a dessert and one glass of wine which is expensive for Cardiff. Probably wouldn’t go again but very good food.

Our party attended for a birthday celebration, and we had booked one of the two "vault" private dining rooms. We were a party of 8, though the room could have fit 10 or 12. This restaurant is immaculate from the moment you step through the door. Attentive staff, entirely professional without being overbearing or snooty, perfectly friendly and accommodating. We were shown to our table, with iced water carafes already in place. I ordered a Banana Old Fashioned cocktail and my partner ordered a Pasture Passion (basically a passion fruit martini) and we're both bowled over. The old fashioned was strong, smooth, and aromatic, the passion was brilliantly fruity and juicy. The birthday boy ordered a Smoked Old Fashioned, served from under a smoky cloche, which was equally delicious and woody. The cocktails here aren't cheap, but are served with care, top shelf spirits, and a wealth of knowledge and skill behind them. Very much worth it. To start my partner ordered the Soy Glazed Chicken Wings and I ordered the Char Siu Pork Belly. The wings were deliciously crispy and the kimchi dressing was a pleasant suprise, my initial apprehension over the stereotypical kimchi funk being too much, was moot. The pork belly was meltingly soft, se ved with an airy puffed crackling shard and a "competition" BBQ sauce, that was very good. Main course, my partner and I shared a 600g Chateaubriand, rare, accompanied by the beef dripping fries and the standout side of fire roasted carrots, with Cashew cream and crispy spiced chickpeas. While the fries were delicious, this glutton prefers a slightly thicker cut, but the carrots were ultimately so good, I would consider them the best thing on the menu after the steak. The Chateaubriand was however, something quite exceptional, and possibly the best steak I have ever experienced. The flavour of open fire, well seasoned, rich and juicy. The texture so tender, I could not help but continue to eat until I was past being full. Again, not a cheap dish, our cut coming in at £84, but included two sides and two sauces (the brown butter bearnaise being a highlight) I left not feeling short changed. Brilliant in every way, and my only regret being I couldn't find room for dessert, at the risk of ending up like Mr Creosote. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

A bit cheesy atmosphere, but decent food

amazing food, every dish tasted superb, wine was great, service excellent. Can't recommend highly enough. You can see why it is so busy on a Weds evening!

Popped in for dinner, and had the most delicious meal, and the best service! I was a little disappointed that they didn't have Guinness, but Oli my waiter bought me 2 beautiful ciders instead! I went for the Thai steak noodle, and it was delicious! Fantastic service, food and drinks! Nice view of the castle entrace too! Highly recommended!

Our Waiter was Jake. On sitting down there was another customer sat alone making a complaint which immediately set alarm bells as yesterday 25/06/2024 was our first visit. Jake did an incredible job explaining the menu to us, showing us the meat and we immediately felt a lot better. We went for the 1.2kg Tomahawk steak and the Monkfish catch of the day, both perfectly cooked. Whilst waiting they brought out complimentary short rib croquettes which were unbelievable so rich and moreish well worth the 4 days it takes to prepare them! We usually like rare steak but Jake recommended that we go medium on the Tomahawk to get a good caremelisation of the fat - which was spot on 👌 To go with that we had the new potatoes and the (sp) Tom yum Sam both of which were great recommendations. Both sauces peppercorn and truffle butter were perfect accompaniments to the steak too. The monkfish was the best I've ever had but i didn't really rate the garlic butter sauce with it. I think I would have preferred something herby and zesty but obviously that's just my personal taste, the garlic butter was still delicious. I definitely recommend the Melon drop cocktail so fresh and juicy and great refreshment on a hot day. Thanks for a great visit we will definitely be back. First time coming here and the staff explained in great detail on how it all works and I must say what an outstanding restaurant this is. Don't let the price fall you if you want that melt in the mouth experience with steak just amazing quality above all the rest. Would definitely recommend.

The food and drinks are fabulous. The service is , however, atrocious. Very inattentive, slow and inconsistent. The ambience is equally horrendous - extremely loud music making conversation almost impossible. This is more Benidorm/ Real Housewives / trashy club than high end restaurant. Will not return.
