Food was absolutely superb, perfectly cooked. There was a great atmosphere in the place. Our server was also a credit to restaurant, Ammalie (apologies if spelled wrong) was attentive and really friendly, also brought a small treat for my partner for her birthday. Will definitely return.

From the very entrance we were met by friendly staff, who escorted us to the table and explained the menu in detail. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really exquisite: stylish interior, pleasant music, creating a cozy atmosphere. The menu turned out to be very diverse - you can find both classic dishes and original author's recipes.

The service was fantastic and the food was cooked to perfection with the layout of my starter,main and dessert was good quality for its price.I would recommend going here for good quality food and amazing service with a calming atmosphere.Thank you, I really enjoyed it.

This was our first visit to Pasture although we have visited Nightshade, their secret bar, previously. It was sensational! The food was exceptional, cannot recommend a visit enough. The service was top tier and the cocktails…wow. Thank you so much for an amazing meal experience. We will be back! Gareth & Pippa x

It was our second visit to this establishment and whilst the service was fantastic, the food this time around was not worth the price. Even though we had the largest Tomahawk steak on the board (1.3Kg), it was not worth the £130 price tag that accompanied it and looked very small (all bone). My partner had the 45 day dry aged burger, which again, she was a little disappointed with. She was not too keen on the cheese. The starters were ok, the crispy fried chicken wings were nothing special but the mushroom parfait was very tasty. We regularly visit different steak houses and for the total price we paid for dinner at Pastures (£221), expect to experience premium dining. However, this was not the case. The service was far better than the food, sorry guys.

Maysoon looked after us so well, she was really friendly, knowledgeable about the menu & interesting. The starters of Short rib Croquettes & Beetroot Tartare were fab. The Rib eye steaks with the Sunday Roast sides were amazing. Love the ambience. Would highly recommend!

Food was outstanding.. though a shame about the fish main dish ..was ok..but a little underwhelming

Went to Cardiff Pasture for an early dinner (booking was at 1pm but as it’s currently 8.15pm while I’m writing this and I’m still full I doubt we’ll be eating much for the rest of the day 😂) with my partner for our anniversary and we were both blown away by the level of service, the quality of the food, and the general atmosphere of the place! It was our first time in the restaurant, I ordered the teriyaki fillet and my partner ordered the ribeye, both to the chefs recommendation and it was some of the best steak I had ever tasted. The waiter even managed to convince my partner (in the loveliest way possible) to try the caramel sauce with the chocolate dome (he’s not a fan usually) and he absolutely loved it! 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone, we will definitely be back again!

We went for valentines and had the valentines set menu. We had the best night from the minute we arrived till the minute we left. The service was exceptionally good, everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful, especially our waitress. The food was all stunning, thoroughly enjoyed every bit. They made a small error with forgetting to replace one of the Rip Croquettes with a vegetarian option for the wife (much to my pleasure as they are amazing and i got 2), so not only did the bri g her her item, they gave us 2 free cocktails, which are also amazing. Highly recommend the Rasberry and Pistachio Expresso Martinis. Didn't know they had a bar downstairs, The Nightshade, which we greatly attended for some more great cocktails. A wonderful experience, defo going again.

Went here with my sister for her birthday, what a wonderful place! The food was amazing, both our steaks were cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic and the whole vibe of the place is second to none. Thoroughly recommend you try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

Best steaks in Cardiff! I absolutely loved the fillet, all steaks are dry aged, and the service is amazing. Staff were very polite and helpful, the atmosphere was calm and not too noisy. I also loved the beef carpaccio as a starter. Great food and great prices, too!

What a great place full of atmosphere and run by enthusiastic professional staff . Miriam was incredible making sure that I enjoyed my food . Incredible meal at Pasture! This was our first time visiting and it did not disappoint. We had the CHÂTEAUBRIAND 1kg to share between the 2 of us, with beef fat chips and season greens and it was amazing! It was the best steak either of us had ever had 😍 Staff were friendly and we were able to sit at the bar and have a drink as we arrived early! See you again soon!

We come to Cardiff from Shrewsbury normally once a month just to have a meal at Pastures. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

The steak was pretty average but the sides (particularly the tender stem) and desserts (chocolate dome) were to die for! Amazing service, all the team members were incredibly friendly. However music was a little loud so it was hard to hear eachother and the floors were a little slippery so be careful!

It’s not often that a restaurant lived up to the hype and the lack of reservation slots, but this one does. From the moment I entered to the time I said goodbye to the welcoming people at the host stand, I had a truly great experience. If you don’t know, it is expensive to dine here but it lacks nothing. Best steak I ever tasted; Great Beef Fat chips and a cocktail list for every strength and taste. The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent and enthusiastic - no fake smiles or obsequiousness here. If you are celebrating, go here. If you want to impress a date, go here. Me? I just wanted a damn fine steak… PS The mussel starter was very “yummo” too! (as one Rick Stein might say). Basically plan (in advance to be sure) to go here or miss out.

First time in Cardiff and what an amazing place to celebrate the Mrs birthday dinner. Couldn’t ask for more. Hard to fault a single thing about the experience at the pastures. The service we got from Matteo & Prince was of the best standard. Definitely recommend & will be back over & over …

Our experience at Pasture was amazing! The food and drinks were tasty and cooked to perfection but the most stand out thing for us was the service we received from Matteo! He was incredible, explained everything to us and showed us the different cuts of meat, made recommendations to us which were great. He went above and beyond which took everything to the next level in terms of experience! Would 100% recommend 👌🏻

We enjoyed a delightful meal during our visit to Cardiff. The location was convenient, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. The food was quite tasty. However, we did experience a delay of an hour from placing our order to the arrival of our meals, which affected our overall rating.

What a banger of a restaurant this one was. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left the service was outstanding. The place was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the staff were brilliant. The food was amazing and absolutely delicious.

Probably the best meal I've ever had in my life, the starter was divine, the short rib croquettes were to die for and my steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned as were my sides. My server was also incredibly friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was nice and lively, I definitely recommend the cote dé bouffe, truffle fries and creamed spinach 👌

All I can say is wow. This was one of, if not the most, delicious meal I have ever had. The chicken wings, the rib eye, the truffle fries and carrots… outstanding. Amazing food, amazing service, the atmosphere- perfect. And our wonderful server gave us brownie bites with ‘congratulations’ written in a chocolate sauce after we had told her it was our 5 year anniversary. Already booked again to come for my partners birthday in June.

Spent a lovely evening mid week, celebrating our daughters birthday. The steaks were exceptionally good and worth the price. Matieo our knowledge and attentive waiter looked after us exceptionally well. An excellent restaurant that adds to Cardiffs gourmet offering.

Unbelievable experience and a fantastic evening celebrating my daughter’s 21st birthday. Wonderful service from Monica and all of the team. The steaks were to die for! The ambience was perfect and the whole time spent there was truly memorable!

Anything pasture or pasture related is always an amazing time! You always are made to feel comfortable and it is a challenge to order something that does not blow you away. A quick lunch or a fancy night out you cannot go wrong.

We booked Pasture a few months in advance following some very good reviews from friends and family. Whilst we did enjoy our evening we feel that it definitely is not worth the hype or months of waiting to visit. The food was fine, the service was very good and the ambiance was alright in summary. The tomahawk steak we ordered seemed rather dried out for medium rare, lacked any sort of succulence or meat juices you’d expect for a good ribeye, almost as if it was overcooked. The starters and sides whilst okay were very heavily salted and the truffle chips were saturated with a truffle taste and tasted almost artificially flavoured. The service received from our server was very good throughout and was very attentive. The atmosphere however was very loud with the music being played being too loud for dining setting as we found it difficult to speak to one another over dinner. Overall we did feel as if we’d had an okay meal but definitely not the best value for money or worth the hype and wait surrounding this place. Would we visit again? We’ve both said it would be highly unlikely unfortunately based on the food we had and the actual restaurant ambiance.

I went here for a special birthday celebration and fantastic was an understatement. Everything about Pasture was excellent. The food was absolutely perfect. The bit that really added to the fantastic experience though was how well they dealt with my own nut allergy, and my friends no-alcohol requirement. The manager dealt with any requirements sincerely and seriously and even broke down all the parts of the menu to help us and ensure we had a safe and enjoyable experience. They really went above and beyond in this respect and we felt in totally safe hands. As well as they made my birthday that little bit more special. Highly recommend, it's pricey, but worth it.

Wow wow wow! Amazing food and amazing service! Anita was simply the best, made sure we had everything we needed with a smile on her face and was always making us laugh! Food was incredible. We will definitely be back when we return to Cardiff.

Second review: 20/1/25: Located just off the pedestrian high street and a short walk from Cardiff Castle, Pasture offers a spacious and stylish dining experience. The interior combines exposed brick walls with circular marble tables and dark faux-leather chairs, creating a modern yet welcoming atmosphere. On entering, a bar sits to the left with a few casual seats, while the open-plan kitchen at the far end showcases their cuts of meat. A board near the entrance highlights the larger steaks on offer, including cuts of 700g or more. Visiting on a quiet Monday lunchtime around 1 PM, the restaurant was only about 20% full. I started with a Beetroot Negroni, a cocktail that immediately caught the eye with its striking deep red hue. The flavor was bold, with an intense beetroot taste upfront that transitioned into the sweeter, familiar notes of a classic Negroni. While interesting, the overall effect was almost overpowering and left a sharp finish that made me want to cough. The glass size also felt smaller than expected for a short cocktail, which was slightly disappointing. For the main course, I opted for the rare ribeye, which was cooked perfectly but ultimately fell short of expectations. It lacked the distinctive grassy or hay-like flavors often found in aged beef, leaving it good but not exceptional. Similarly, the truffle chips, while enjoyable, didn’t quite deliver the indulgence one hopes for in such a dish. The service, however, was attentive and professional, adding a pleasant touch to the experience. While the meal was enjoyable, the quality of the food didn’t quite match the high expectations set by the restaurant’s reputation and ambiance. First review :Busy and therefore recommended to book a long time in advance. Arrived for lunch on Sunday. Drinks took about 20mins to arrive but the order for food took 30mins from Arrival. Starters arrived about 50mins post arrival. The crispy squid was ok- looked rather unappetising due to the squid ink, the bread with butter was average and the crab toast was good. The filler was medium rare but over done, the teriyaki sauce was awful. The cabbage grilled was ok. Smokey old fashion was ok- too Smokey.

We all absolutely loved our 3 course set menu with you. Everyone has commented how much they enjoyed their food, all the flavour created in each of the dishes was incredible. Your staff went above and beyond to cater for members of our party who had GF requirements. We loved the restaurant, it's ambience and the staff were brilliant. Thank you.

Excellent!! We had our Christmas do here and it was the best we’ve ever had. Food was outstanding, cocktails even better, and considering it was obviously such a busy time for them, their service was as exceptional as always. Always such a great experience coming here.

wow wow wow. I booked pasture for my boyfriend’s birthday months in advance as we’ve always wanted to visit and the wait has been 1000% worth it. From the second we arrived, our waiter Joel was outstanding. He gave incredible recommendations (and we tried every one!!) and was super friendly and easy to talk to. He clearly knew the menu very well and was able to book us into the speak easy downstairs after our meal which made our night! As well as the service, the food was outstanding! I would definitely recommend the croquettes and pork belly starter! Will definitely visit again soon!!

Visited here lots now and I’m never disappointed, the food is fantastic, we’ve had both the steak and roast dinner which are amazing. I would recommend sharing the chateaubrand with your roast and adding cauliflower cheese. The service is brilliant too.

Almost perfection. Fantastic service, great staff, highly recommend the Mocktails. This is a restaurant for meat lovers, if you are in anyway vegan inclined do not bother, you get to see the Chefs daily cuts up close before cooking. The short rib Croquettes are a thing of Beauty and taste. 4 perfectly seasoned balls of beef rib coated in crumb with a stunning spicy sauce. The Cote du Beuf steak is a beauty if you want to treat yourself, great value and tastes amazing. The Moussaka was beautiful, piping hot and cooked in an iron skillet. I had mushrooms as a side, again tasty and plentiful. The only kick in the pants was the fire cooked baked potato. The topping was tasty but the potato lacked finesse it wasn't soft and buttery as I expected, quite lumpy and to me at least, was not cooked as well as the rest of the food. The skin was burnt and charred as to be expected if it was cooked in the coals but it just missed the mark when the rest was so brilliant. The Coconut pineapple Mocktail was divine. All of the staff were fantastic, helpful and courteous. A great atmosphere, Will absolutely be back, but will have the chips next time.

We love everything about Pasture so brought our children for a birthday treat meal (it was our son’s 11th birthday). The food, drink, service and experience Joel gave us was superb. He took time showing the kids the meat fridge, introduced them to Tom the head chef. He is an absolute credit to your restaurant. We didn’t think we could love Pasture anymore but after yesterday we absolutely do! Thank you very much for being brilliant!!

My partner and I booked a table with the festival menu last night, but we never received a pre-order form or email. We were unaware that we should have obtained one. When we inquired about this with the waiter, he responded in an extremely rude manner, implying that he was doing us a favor by allowing us to order from the festive menu. He could have simply explained that, we didn’t mind ordering from the A La Carte menu at all and that we were simply confused about the situation. We ordered non-alcoholic beverages (my partner has an alcohol allergy, and I needed to drive later in the day). However, the alcoholic version of the beverage was served to our table. We were not bothered to address this issue at the time given the attitude received from the waiter. The table next to us was occupied by six intoxicated men who were behaving inappropriately. They were yelling and vaping in the restaurant. This was likely the worst experience I have had at this establishment thus far. While the service is usually excellent, it was particularly poor on this occasion. Fortunately, the food was still of high quality.

We chose Pasture for a celebration meal, and couldn't have been more impressed. We were greeted at the door and seated by a very friendly and helpful person. Our server (Jake) was amazing knowledgeable and friendly, he put us at ease and made the dining experience wonderful. The dining room was quite busy and the atmosphere was great. We had a perfect rib eye steak, with salad and fries. The steak was probably the best I've had in a very long time. My partner had the Monk Fish with tenderstem broccoli and was extremely happy with it. Desert and coffee to finish, was a perfect end to the meal. A big thank you to the team for such an awesome experience, can't wait for a return visit.

The service from the minute we arrived till we left was outstanding. Anita was very attentive and checked in with us at regular intervals. She was kind, caring and had such a warm smile with no request being too much trouble. James, the manager, was very knowledgeable as I'm an awkward soul with an unusual food intolerance. The food was absolutely outstanding and real value for money. The food came out so quickly and every dish was divine. Highly recommend to one and all. Came here to celebrate an anniversary with my girlfriend and after searching for multiple restaurants to go to I am so glad I came here. It was busy when we walked in we were sat down in the corner (best spot in my opinion) and the atmosphere was amazing especially when they dim the lights later on. Staff were nice and gave out good vibes especially our server Suven (sorry if mispronounced) who was pretty kind and enthusiastic and made the experience at Pasture better. Don't get me started on the food. As soon as I bit into the chicken wings and the ribeye steak, it made me feel things that i've never felt about food before and I must've said "oh my god" every 10 seconds. It is simply THAT good and the prices were quite reasonable too. Definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere new to dine. Would definitely come again.

I’ve always enjoyed eating at pasture but my last two visits fell short of expectations for the prices charged. The Côte de boeuf served to our table was the worst we’ve ever seen. The manager acknowledged this and admitted it wasn’t ideal and that they will do better for next time. That’s it. Nothing more. A small discount on the £50 steak or £400 bill would go a long way. Again, the visit before this, the peppercorn sauce was far too salty that it ruined the meal, again nothing apart from an apology. £700 in two visits and to come away feeling like your been brushed under the carpet is not good enough!

What an amazing place to dine! Our first visit on a recommendation and you certainly didn't disappoint. Such a warm welcome and Veronica was something else! She took time to go through the menu and was very informative and funny! So attentive and with such a busy service going on she was on point with service the whole night. We popped in tonight for a drink, ended up cancelling our reservations at Ivy Asia and staying to eat. We say in the bar & Ryan was our server, he was exceptional! Attentive, professional & personable, you simply couldn't ask for more. Pasture, your food is incredible, your drinks are amazing, having staff like Ryan only amplifies these exceptional touches.

We were in Cardiff on vacation and just happened to stop in to Pasture for dinner (the menu looked good). We didn’t have a reservation but thankfully for us we were able to get a table. We ordered the burger and it was the best cheeseburger I have ever had!!! My mom wasn’t feeling well and they went above and beyond to get us some soup to-go to take back to the hotel. Veronica was our waitress and she was AMAZING 🤩. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful dining experience and exceptional food. 50/10 would eat here again and highly recommend to anyone looking for some amazing food in Cardiff. Make reservations though!

Excellent in every way!! Couldn’t recommend more highly. Our server was a dream, as was the food! We went for the 550g Chateaubriand which was some of the best steak I’ve ever had and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere stunning. Definitely one to try!

If you like MEAT then this is your place!! We had a really enjoyable experience, when ordering the house cuts we were presented with a board of the 3 cuts and my eyes lit up, I wanted all 3. I have never been shown a steak so thick before and it was cooked perfectly and so tasty. But for some weird reason it was just and ordinary steak, the highlight were the sides we ordered, they were exceptional, I have never had veg so tasty and I will def go back for some more, the charged cabbage with bacon butter was to die for and I never knew you could make carrots so damn tasty, I highly recommend. We will def be back again and might try a different house cut but the sides were incredible. The staff were so friendly and helpful, I can't thank them enough, overall it was a really good experience, so if you love MEAT then this is for you!!!

Second visit to Pasture maintaining the high standards. Pricing is still very good, as is the food, which this time was a rib eye steak, beef fat chips and cabbage cooked on the coals with bacon butter, all washed down with Felinfoel ale.

My absolute favorite restaurant. The staff are outstanding and always incredibly welcoming. I've visited many times and never experienced anything other than excellence. The food is always exceptional and it's great to try the new additions. The steaks are without doubt the best you'll have, you can see they take a huge amount of pride in everything they do, it just shines through. Couldn't recommend Pasture and the team enough. Wonderful!

Sadly no pics, but it takes nothing away from the amazing time we had! The food was outstanding and our waiter, Matteo, had great recommendations and just the right level of attentiveness. Not our first visit and definitely not our last!

Yesterday I celebrated my fiftieth birthday with my wife and daughter and it was my first experience in the Cardiff branch... magnificent food and meat... five stars to the chefs especially Sam Hepburn who did an excellent job!!! next time I come back I hope to also meet Federica and Jake (the legend)

Everything was amazing, especially the staff! We were very earlier to our booking, but the staff got us seated, had some drinks - which were incredible and the guy who talked us through what we ordered was great! The main lady who served us, we forgot her name, but she made the day! She was brilliant, great customer service and gave us some perfect recommendations on the menu. 10/10

If you’re lucky enough to find a slot that is free to book don’t even think twice about it. There’s no two ways about it, this is the best place to eat in Cardiff. So good I’m writing this review while we wait for our dessert (which has just arrived)

Great communication and support from the booking team before our family celebration. We had a lovely lunch with fantastic staff taking care of us, wonderful food, delicious wine, and finished everything off with a couple of cocktails in the amazing Nightshade. Perfection. A Steak Lover's Dream at Pasture Pasture is my go-to retreat for a peaceful and indulgent dining experience. Whether I need a break from the hustle and bustle or simply crave a great meal, this place never disappoints. The ambience is truly fantastic. The staff are absolutely stunning, professional, and warm, always making you feel valued as a guest. And of course, the food is a masterpiece. Their steaks are cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and the sides are just as delicious, with creative options that elevate the meal. The attention to detail is evident in every bite. For anyone looking for a serene spot to treat themselves or go with someone to excellent food and exceptional service, Pasture is an absolute gem. I’ve already booked my next visit next Wednesday.

The meals we had were outstanding 5 star all round. Service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was great. Next time we are back in Cardiff we will dine here again for sure.

We booked a table for a late birthday meal and the experience went far beyond my expectations, I had an allergy and I was treated with utmost respect and care by the host and the server, the service was quite possibly the best I’ve ever recieved, I’ve been working in hospitality for almost a decade now and managing restaurants for about 5 and all I have to say about my experience is that it’s quite possibly the best example of how a dining experience should go, I don’t remember my servers name but we were the last table in the restaurant and he was serving us and I hope he gets some recognition for it because honestly again it was quite possibly the best time I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

This 4* rating is given in the context of the price point the restaurant sets out and the remarkable hype around the place. Honestly, the steak was wonderful, the service was great and the place looks nice. It was a little rowdy and loud in there (with a chap being sick in the toilet)… but we visited after a Rugby match so that is to be expected. I just didn’t get the “Wow” factor that social media and word of mouth proclaims about Pasture. I think there are better premium priced restaurants in Cardiff that are doing more exiting things with food and pushing the boundaries more. If you haven’t been, please do try it!!
