One of the best meals we have had for a long time. Bread and pork belly to start, rib eye and sirloin with spinach gratin and firepit carrots for mains. Basque cheesecake cake to finish. Wine and cocktails are also delicious. Miriam plus the main waiter ( forgot to ask him his name) gave exceptional service. You must try this place! Loved it! We went to Silures on Wellfield road the week before and, to be frank, Pasture is so much better.

Amazing service, very friendly and helpful staff (nothing was too much). The food was amazing and without question I would recommend the Pasture as a must visit.

This place is absolutely amazing. The staff are so friendly and so knowledgeable about their cuts of meat and all the cocktails. Cannot recommend this place highly enough will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I just enjoyed a delicious porterhouse steak here today. The staff were lovely, friendly and very informative about the food and drinks. I also had a cheeky peak at the Vault ( a smaller more private restaurant downstairs) which looked lovely but the best was yet to come. I got caught snooping but was kindly invited to look at the Nightshade bar adjacent to the Vault. Wow, the private bar & lounge was fabulous/ sumptuous and glamorous. If ever you're looking for somewhere special for a private party or a few drinks for a special occasion this would be it. Amazing!!! I believe it can be used for private functions/ individual bookings or check at reception for availability. Enjoy!

Very good quality, excellent service, you can't miss it if you like meat, although their vegetable-only dishes also deserve attention

I visited today for the first time with my husband for our first wedding anniversary. We were blown away by everything. As huge foodie's who eat out a lot, the steak was the best that either of us have ever tasted. To start I had the belly pork, and my husband had the short rib croquettes, both 10/10. We shared the chautaubriand, which was like butter and had the most amazing flavour. The chimichuri and peppercorn sauces complimented perfectly. The drinks were also really tasty (I had Pasture's version of a Pornstar Martini). Shout out to Our server Alexander was really lovely and friendly, and extremely attentive throughout the whole experience. I was given a Dairy Free menu and Alexander explained that they could alter dishes to be dairy free, so that I wouldn't miss out. He even brought us a complimentary Anniversary dessert, which was really kind. He made an already special occasion even more wonderful - thank you. We can't wait to return! Best restaurant in Cardiff by a mile.

We went for the fillet and rib-eye and both delivered. The cabbage on the coals and the glazed carrots were great accompaniments along with the truffle fries. Staff definitely added to the experience.

Was really looking forward to visiting this acclaimed restaurant but left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The restaurant looks great with a good atmosphere and was full within the first hour of opening on the Monday lunchtime we visited. Staff are friendly, layout and decor is good, clean etc as you would expect from this kind of price point. Starters were fantastic, a great show when brought to the table and delicious. The main course though we found disappointing. I had the rib eye steak which they did say was more fatty than some to add flavour but this was more fatty than I would have expected and flavour, while good, was no better than a decent cut of supermarket steak in my opinion. Server was friendly but asked us 5 times during the meal if everything was ok which became a little irritating plus our plates were whisked away almost as soon as we’d put our cutlery down which made the meal feel rushed. Maybe we just had an unlucky experience, perhaps we’d built our hopes too high, after all the place is booked out well in advance but it certainly, for us, didn’t feel worth the high price and we won’t be rushing back.

Well, what to say. I've been to some restaurants but this may very well be the best experience I've ever had in one. The most expensive, admittedly, but fantastic value for money nonetheless. We were sat to our seats by the fantastic Tosin, who couldn't do anymore for you. Walked us through the specials steaks, the tomahawk, porterhouse and what I ended up having the chateaubriand. Firstly was the starters, spare rib croquettes which was a nice little opener of what was to come. We then brought over tosin to ask what would be the best type of wine to go with our meal, which was a 40quid bottle of argentinian malbec. Not my favourite ever grape or region (price or country!), but was absolutely perfect for the meal. We had deserts, but arguably didn't need any. Eyes bigger than our bellies which were incredibly full after the experience. Stunning meal and wonderful service. Couldn't ask for more.

Best place for steaks ever!!!! The fried broccoli was my top one, really good, only thing a bit disappointed me was it was quite salty, but the sauce goes very well with chips. My partner love the steak he ordered which was a ribeye. I had the chicken dish, it was lovely too!! All the staffs are super nice and very helpful. Everything was great, I would defo come back again!!!

Overpriced pretentious food served in a venue as intimate and comfortable as a school canteen . Front of house and customer care staff very good but the food we tried from the menu was very disappointing; stringy sugar snap peas, dry mushroom starter, over seasoned foam butter . The steak was ok nothing special, the sourdough bread and Parmesan chips I would recommend , but for £200 lunch for three people I was disappointed and underwhelmed and would like to be able to say , having sampled numerous starters and mains, that the venue has more going for it than chips and bread . Personally I will not return

Loved my visit here! The smoked beef carpaccio and the burger were amazing. The server was incredibly knowledgeable and every employee we interacted with provided excellent service. We were able to walk in and get a table for 4 on a Friday night so even if you don't get a reservation it's definitely worth walking up and seeing if they have a table.

Timings right, restaurant busy, yet felt relaxed atmosphere with staff who are friendly and unobtrusive . The table was managed well.

Amazing food and experience. Went with the crab starter and rib eye main with cabbage on the coal and rosemary Fries as sides. For dessert, I went for the tiramisu. All the food was done to an exceptional quality and the staff were attentive and explained the food and food prep in detail. Probably the best rib eye I have ever had. The atmosphere was given a 4 star only because the tables are pretty close together in the middle. Far enough apart to not bump into each other but did feel a little squeezed because it was a full house (on a tuesday!). Will certainly come again!

No less than 5 stars all around for this restaurant from the food to the service everything was amazing. I’ve heard such good things about the short rib croquettes and they did not disappoint. They were delicious, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Our server was super friendly and attentive and there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant for a midweek meal. I was most surprised at the bill charge, such a high standard of food but actually quite reasonably priced. A much higher standard than a lot of the other restaurants in the city. Can’t recommend enough!

Anniversary meal - Sirloin Steak was cooked to perfection, Beef fat chips were stunning- pepper corn sauce was excellent! Great service in a lovely afternoon atmosphere - would highly recommend!

Outstanding food and the service is excellent. If you haven't been before they really explain the menu and how you order based on the weight of the meat.

We always have a wonderful meal here and make several bookings in advance. The steaks are phenomenal, we usually order the châteaubriand but the sirloin is also fab too. We usually get new potatoes and cabbage in the coals - so good! They used to do a whiskey sauce which was amazing but no longer serve this, however the Sichuan Peppercorn (I think) is similar and honestly even better! The wine and cocktails are great. Staff are always friendly and so accommodating. We have been for date nights here as just a couple but also have done a few day time visits with our babies, high chairs and tables with space for prams are available! The baby changing room is sooo nice. Worth making a few bookings here. Parallel next door is also wonderful, we usually do the chefs menu and highly recommend the experience.

Waiter was first class. How ever if your after a top class steak experience then your better off getting down to your local butchers, ask them for a great cut, spend an average sum of money and fry it in some grass fed butter at home. £30+ for a steak. Chips are extra, garnish extra, sauce extra etc etc. If it was more reasonably priced then I would rate the food 4 stars how ever for the price of the food it was an utter let down. Very disappointed on the whole and have received far better steak experiences at chain steak house.

Despite several pleasant visits to Pasture, I’m bewildered by the lack of care and attention to our most recent, and only, complaint. Two out of a table of six fell ill for nearly a week after our visit to the restaurant on September the 30th. The management team have denied our illnesses were a result of eating at Pasture. We’ve been told there’s no correlation because ‘no other guests’ were ill. This review shouldn’t put you off attending as the staff are attentive, the service is good and the food has been good on a number of occasions. But If you do fall ill or have a negative experience, prepare for Pasture to go through an external H&S safety provider with the main goal of not taking accountability. Will not be in any rush to visit Pasture again after a lack of empathy for a once regular client.

Celebrated my brothers 18th here tonight and had a wonderful time- every element was perfect. We wanted to give a special mention to Anita our waitress who was the best, so lovely and helpful- deserves all the credit. ☺️

First time visiting tonight. Service was excellent, especially from Martin who served us. He was very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and he made us feel very welcome from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and will be back very soon.

Had an amazing dinner down there recently and I have to say that this place does not cease to amaze me by perfection of its cuisine. Steaks are always full of flavour and incredibly tender. Staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and made the dinning experience even better. Highly recommend for a steak lovers.

I love it. It's like a bit of Soho in Cardiff. In house matured UK dry aged steaks destroy anything from a wet aged import young beef chain like gaucho. Its expensive but its so quality and so attentive service over allergies etc. Absolutely love the place Pro's.

Wow wow wow from the greetings at the door to being seated the service we had all night from Martin all I can say is excellent. Martin went through the menu with us and boy when the food came out WOW perfect everything cooked to perfection. We had the tommerhawk steak between us it is the best steak I have eaten ( even my dogs were over the moon with their doggy bag ) . Everything with this resteraunt is perfect would I recommend pastures cardiff definitely best steak house. around.

We ordered the tomahawk steak is medium, actually I think it's medium well , and some parts are close to well done. But overall I think it was very good, and the staff were very nice.

We have dined at Pasture many times and its quite simply the best in Cardiff. Great atmosphere and the staff are very attentive but not over the top. The quality of the food is top notch and is generally cooked to perfection. I don't like the automatic service charge that has recently been added as I believe this should be an individuals choice. However , it is discretionary and again the staff are brilliant and worth it. I also like the consistency of the restaurant.

The service was immaculate as Prince, who was our waiter knew his stuff about the dry aged steak and gave a fantastic understanding of how and what to order. Furthermore the food was fantastic and the place had a great atmosphere.

My vegetarian meal was absolutely amazing

We’ve been here quite a few times for special occasions and we always have a fantastic experience without fail. The produce is always so good and fresh, in particular the meat. On this last visit we had short rib croquettes, which are highly recommend and always amazing, also char sui pork belly with crackling. For main we shared a chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly for rare, like butter and so tasty (see photo). For sides we had mac & cheese, always a favourite and truffle fries. The wine selection is second to none and a great complement to the gastronomy. The staff are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. To top it off my wife had a lovely surprise with a cake and candle for her Birthday. Overall a fantastic experience again, thank you to everyone at Pasture for making this a very special occasion ❤️

Not my first visit, and can wholeheartedly endorse this venue from a meal for two upwards to a large booking The contact reference my booking was polite, professional, and well delivered. Our service, food, and presentation set the bar with regards to dining out. The staff and service frankly was flawless, even negotiating numerous changes to the menu and unforseen changes. The occasion was a 21st and all In attendance unanimously agree how exceptional it was. Second visit, knocked first into a cocked hat!. Kudos to the staff and admin who were involved in this. Unreservedly recommended, will return post haste.

3 weeks in on this European holiday and I have had some amazing experiences in food , but tonight has been the highlight. Had the steak and ale pie, absolutely delicious, with a side of truffle fries covered in parmesan cheese.

Attended last night for my birthday, from the moment we stepped in everything was class. The italian gentleman who served us (forgotten name 😪 ) Was the best serviceman i've had anywhere in my 36 years. His knowledge his upbeat attitude and passion for his customers and the food served just put a sparkle on the occasion. And my tomohawk was the best steak i have ever had. (Credit to the chef) And they even gave me a birthday treat which was unexpected. This establishment just screams out class and perfection. Thank you.

First time for us at Pasture and I was blown away by everything from the greeting at the front desk and our server Joel. He even gave me a lesson in steak and showed us how it was cooked. Then came the food! Oh my…. It was stunning!! It was for my wife’s birthday and Joel even brought out a small chocolate brownie and a candle. I love steak but this was next level. I will definately be returning, Pasture you have an incredible set up and you should be very proud of what you have.

Amazing food, "unfaultable". However the servers are overworked and service as a result was not the standard expected for such a venue. The atmosphere has also gone down hill a little as they have started cramming 6 head tables onto 4 seater so the place is over packed out. All in all I love pasture, but it has noticeably changed in recent weeks/months... And I eat here regularly.

What a wonderful experience I had here on Friday with my family, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, explaining the choices of different meats, the food was hot and tasted amazing, we were celebrating a family event and they brought us a celebration plate with brownies on which was a lovely touch…. We will definitely return

We had a table booked for 3 people at 12pm and we were greeted by a friendly host, and then our server Tosin who was superb throughout the afternoon, he recommended many dishes and checked in on us many times. We had a side of pork belly and a side of squid to start, both amazing dishes and then me and my wife shared a tomahawk steak which was incredible. The cocktails are fantastic and we had a bottle of Malbec to compliment the steak, we even had an extra side of blue cheese sauce given to us as my wife was curious how it would taste. The kids menu is brilliant and cheap, it was two courses at under £8 so you can’t complain about that. We were celebrating belated exam results and qualifications so the congratulations message on the chocolate dome dessert was a nice touch. It’s one of the best experiences you can have in a restaurant no wonder why it’s incredibly successful. We hope to be back again soon. Pasture is staffed to the max so everything runs efficiently and smoothly. Well done Pasture a fantastic experience!

This was the best chateaubriand with brown butter bernais sauce I have ever had! In Cardiff, who knew. Well, the locals know, and judging by the crowded service, I think they appreciate it. I loved the fennal beet appetizers, a palate cleanser, really. The sides, the carrots, and the portobello mushrooms were fantabulous! And the chateaubriand was transcendent. We arrived on a Sunday brunch time and were seated immediately. Our server, Bella, was very informative and such a great spirited young woman. She shines! She and the rest of the staff took such care of us. I have a gluten intolerance, and I can tell you the concern for my well-being was off the chart. I loved this experience. I recommend this dining experience to all comers. The open kitchen, the meat locker, the chandelier over the bar, and the bumping music all enhance the atmosphere! Overall, a great experience. I recommend you eat here as often as possible.

Visited this restaurant on Friday evening. We were greeted very friendly by the waiting staff at the front door, we were shown to our table as soon as we arrived. We were greeted with friendly, quick and impeccable service once we were sat down. We were shown recommendations that we ordered. When the order came out we were blown away by the flavour, texture and perfection on every item. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was also very nice. The table was candle lit and the room was also lit quite dimly, it was a very relaxing experience. The music was at a nice relaxing sound level. Quite frankly, Pasture in Cardiff was the best meal I have ever eaten and I would go back here in a heartbeat. I will most definitely be recommending this restaurant to anyone looking to eat in Cardiff.

Worth every bit of hype. Went there for a birthday dinner and it was every bit as amazing as everyone says it is, and then some. The steaks were absolutely perfect, my mom, who does not like steak 9 times out of 10 even polished her plate off. We will definitely be going back.

Easily one of the best restaurants I've been to, and I used to live in London. We booked well in advanced, because this place always seems packed and booked a Monday night. Service was great, friendly, responsive and helpful. The food was delicious and the portions were definitely enough. Even at 9.30pm on Monday night as we were almost finished the place was still busy - an obvious sign just how well regarded this place is. I'll be back again (and again, and again...)

Went here for a lunchtime meal with my son. We were so impressed with the atmosphere and service received. (Friday 6th Sept 2024) I have some food intolerance and the manager, James went over and beyond trying to help me with the menu to choose the right things. We opted for a Ribeye for my son and a Sirloin for me. James kindly asked the chef to put two fried eggs on top as I eat a carnivore style. I was so happy as no other restaurant on the planet would offer that to me. Everything was cooked to perfection. Can't remember out waiters name but he was lush aswell . They really made us feel special and nothing seemed to much of a problem. I would like to add. The atmosphere on Friday lunchtime was relaxed but somewhat on the contrary, electric aswell. Staff looked happy and that's good going for a city centre restaurant at a busy time. Well worth every penny and I can't wait to go again. My son was impressed that he took his girlfriend there tonight. Thank you Pasture for looking after me. I'm not a difficult customer but I don't eat sides / sauces/ vegetables as a carnivore. The eggs were amazing and you made my experience memorable.

Perfection, from the cocktail outside under the heaters, to the team and the meal and drinks all around it was fantastic, my partner in Coeliac so gluten-free options are normally limited, not here though, the manager came over and sat with us to talk us through the menu; what is okay for Gluten Free diet or coeliac friendly honestly couldn’t have been easier. Loads to choose from, food was cooked perfectly, the team were super helpful and passionate about their locally grown menu! Will be back for sure.

Noisy Noisy Noisy . Don't you just hate places where you have to read the menu with the torch on your phone? You can't have a conversation as its to loud in there.Its ok for teenagers but not for adults. I never got to eat in this very overpriced Beefeater. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of ripping me off.

Visited Pasture for 10th wedding anniversary as it have been highly recommended but what a disappointment the food was ok had better elsewhere, service was slow and poor.I got up to go to the toilet and slipped on the floor and nearly went down reported it to one of the girls at the front but nothing was done about it, only on leaving the restaurant and checked the bill noticed an optional 10% service charge added without my knowledge will definitely not be returning

Just great all round. Super attentive and friendly service with some great personal recommendations. Quality of the food was absolutely excellent, cooked to perfection. Not surprised there is such a big waiting time for peak tables. Will absolutely be back!

I took my wife for her birthday, it did not disappoint. I'm not a great lover of steak, but if you're gonna go for steak, go somewhere proper and order something proper. For sharing, the Chateaubriand is a winner. Sides were all tasty, wine flowed beautifully. Good restaurant, good location, priced as expected.

We visited this place as a family of five, our daughter's have been twice previously and said it was amazing. The first is top class and tastes amazing fro the way it is cook to presentation. The staff were very friendly and engaging especially our waitress Veronica she made sure we had everything we needed and made our experience a very pleasurable one. The meat just tasted amazing in fact all the food looked and tasted beautiful. It was more than obvious the cefs take great pride in what they cook and produce. The only small negatives is the music wasn't to my taste I thought it was awful and it was too loud, we were sat on a large round table and it was difficult to have a conversation also to speak to staff it was difficult to hear.

Our first visit to Pasture last night to celebrate my partner’s birthday and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Firstly, the service. Impeccable! Extremely welcoming and friendly but authentically so, not forced conversation. Our waitress was attentive whilst giving us time to read through the menu/ enjoy our meal etc. I tipped 20% which says it all I think! The food. We had the crispy squid starter which was delicious and well presented, then shared a chateaubriand for main with the ember potato and coal cooked cabbage. Presentation, taste and portion sizes were spot on. The meat was cooked to perfection. Wine. A great and extensive wine list with many at very accessible prices. We had the Valpolicella which was a perfect pairing with our steak. Birthday marshmallows were a very nice touch and the perfect end to the meal. We finished our evening in Nightshade, the cosy speakeasy bar downstairs where we finished off our wine in a quieter setting and enjoyed a fantastic cocktail as a night cap! The barmen there were super knowledgeable, attentive and friendly too. Overall, a brilliant night and well worth a visit - we will be back! Our spend per person was on the higher end as we opted for the most expensive steak … but it was worth every penny 😊 Thanks to all at Pasture for a fantastic evening
