Passioni Italiane in West Somerset

After over a decade of visiting Minehead we were recommended to try this restaurant. I am delighted to say it was well worth it. Delightful home feel and decor, this small restaurant and its owner Cristina make you feel the centre of attention as their guest. Beautifully prepared home cooked food from my main of pollo parmy and rigatoni to dessert of tiramisu, all washed down with a Victoria Beer. Can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in May 2025.

Stumbled upon this little gem in Minehead when looking for a post-Parkrun breakfast and was not disappointed. Very nice coffee and delicious baked cheesecake. Lovely atmosphere and good service. Will be stopping off here to try dinner when I'm next in the area.

I drive for 30 minutes to visit this wonderful trattoria. Breakfast, brunch, lunch or just a coffee. The relaxed Italian/ Aussie operators are the best at what they do bar none. The specials board reflects homemade Italian food. Alot of ingredients from their own allotment. Say no more.

Visited with a local friend and what an amazing find this little trattoria is in a side street of Minehead. Christina and John are delightful and although we only had coffee and brunch the food was really tasty and the atmosphere welcoming and lively. I can’t wait to go back for lunch or dinner. There are only 5 tables so best to book as deservedly very busy.

Found this small restaurant by accident, glad we did. Very small with 6 tables. Menu of the day with probably 4/5 choices all cooked authentically italian. We had two pasta dishes which were the best we have ever tasted. Simple and homely italian dishes at great prices. The owners were friendly and very warm. Would definitely return.

I’ve looked forward to trying this little cafe, it looks wonderful and i had expectations of excellent coffee. The male owner was quite cold, which put me off ordering breakfast, and although there was only one other couple in there he scooped there cups and plates away the second they finished, it seemed he wanted them gone. We had coffee which was bitter, and tasted like it came from a machine, not the drink I thought we’d get. Disappointed and won’t be returning.

Popped in here with my mum for breakfast . Looked like a lovely place . However the man (owner) was extremely rude to us . We were deciding where to sit . My mum has a walking stick and mobility issues. We were offered a small table which was fine really but i queried whether we could sit at a larger one just so we had a choice . It was reserved for 10.30 . We were there at 9.20 . I asked casually if we could sit there as an option as we wouldn’t be over an hour . The man replied “ well if you don’t want to sit here you don’t have to stay” which I thought was really rude .so we left . I am not giving my hard earned cash to someone who is so rude . His customer service skills need work .

What a find this place was. The lady was Italian and we had the most amazing Italian food we've ever which is praise indeed as we've have visited Italy many times.

We popped in for lunch today and were blown away with the quality of the food and produce. Truly authentic Italian cuisine! We shared bruschetta, pomodoro and lemon ravioli - all were exquisite. Definitely visit here if you’re in Minehead and love Italian food!

without a doubt one of the most wonderfyl side street finds we have come across we were on holiday from london and please anyone who loves great italian food and great coffee go there. The hosts are charming, the food unusual and wonderful they welcomed our dog and the double machiatto was spot on. we will most certainly return. Ray and sally hough

We had lunch here on Saturday and it was absolutely delicious. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, and the food is amazing!!! Must visit when in Minehead.

We were greeted with a friendly smile straight away and made to feel very welcome. We ordered pesto scrambled eggs, mozerella ciabatta and spinach and ricotta cannelloni. All were so delicious and reasonably priced. We decided to have the tiramisu and pistachio canoli for pudding. Again, divine. We will definitely be returning and are looking forward it.

Twice before we looked in for lunch on trips to Minehead, no chance it is a small resturant and was full on both occasions. On Saturday we tried again and we found a free table and our treat was on. Great atmosphere, lovely coffee was just a start, we experienced a great value dining experience from hosts who love what they are doing. We will be back, provided that is we find a table again!

Passion Italiane is amazing! We have had some of our best eating experiences there during the last 26 years we have lived on Exmoor. The service is wonderful. Thank you Australian Gavin & the food is second to none a huge THANK YOU to Italian Christina. We don’t really want everyone to know about this wonderful place, because it is small but very special.

Who would have thought we'd have found this wonderful Italian restaurant in Minehead! Don't understand why it's not the number one restaurant in town!! Welcoming couple that run the place, intimate cozy restaurant with excellent tasty Italian food. Although we were visiting from the US, my sister is from Somerset and definitely plans to return with her husband, next time she's in Minehead.

Well what a pleasant surprise. We arrived there to find an absolutely fantastic small family restaurant. Charming, hospitable hosts in a small easy going relaxing environment. No rushed meals, drinks came first meal to follow. On our list to follow up , will go again with friends and family

I asked for a light meal recommendation. Tomatoes on ciabatta did not sound much but I trust Gavin's judgement. Wow, the Tomatoes were off the scale flavour. A few excellent ingredients put together skillfully was a joy. Gavin & Cristina grow alot of the seasonal produce. The Tomatoes were grown using their own technique. Natural hospitality runs through their veins. You arrive a customer and leave a valued friend. It is no surprise they have countless returning friends.

We tried to visit this place 3 times, but they are closed every Sun and Mon and Tuesday had a hospital appointment...but eventually we managed to get a beautiful Italian breakfast before we left Minehead....5/5 amazing food...and coffee.

My mum and I visited this restaurant for the first time earlier in the week. We were lucky to get in as usually the place is quite busy. We were pleasantly greeted by an Australian gentleman who showed us to our seats - he was our waiter. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, it was very chilled, service was effective - not rushed, but not leaving us waiting around, and very friendly. The menu is varied and good prices too. My mum had a mushroom and tomato ciabatta (i think, pictured) and I had lemon and mozzarella ravioli (also pictured). The food was stunning, there was the right amount on the plate, it was flavoursome, and quite frankly, when the gentleman offered me some bread to mop the sauce up I was delighted! They also had a nice selection of desserts and I tried the mango sorbet which was lovely and refreshing, especially after the hot weather we’d been having. A good selection of drinks are available, some are imported from Australia so definitely worth trying those too. They also have different Australian and Italian food/drink items you can buy there, such as pastas and Tim tams. It really is worth the visit, looking forward to coming back to Minehead and having another bite to eat here.

Luckily we came across this little deli/restaurant by chance, what a find. Booked for lunch the following day. A small buzzing place, serving home cooked authentic Italian food. Delicious food, wine and beer at reasonable prices. Fabulous.

We were introduced to this lovely little restaurant by our neighbours. We go for coffee and toasted croissants with homemade jam which is fabulous. Always good and always get a very friendly welcome. Have not tried the other food on the menu but it always looks and smells great. Best kept secret in Minehead, would certainly recommend

My wife and I found this restaurant by accident and we were very impressed by the friendly couple who run it: an Italian chef and her Australian husband on front of house. They were very friendly and chatty with several locals popping in for snacks...

We only discovered passioni italiani on our last day - excellent coffee, friendly service. We didn't try the food but the menu looked great. Will definitely go back when we are in the area again.

Dealing with Covid restrictions we were thrown by the fact that everywhere was booked out as it’s Tuesday and the government 50% eat out scheme.. we found this wonderful place on google searches.. the food options was brilliant, the owners were friendly and very accommodating.....

Very disappointed by the small portions and initial reception when checking menu for the vegan friendly content. If you expect Italian warmth and generosity forget it. More like nouveau cuisine cool and no salad, not even a lettuce leaf.

We popped in for a light lunch after seeing it reviewed on Tripadvisor. The menu is quite small but there was a lot of specials which looked very tempting. Resisting, we went for the toasted Ciabattas. I went for the Italian Sausage (being a bloke) my partner had had goat cheese with roasted vegetables. Both were excellent. All around us people were saying how lovely the food was. While we were there a local (character) popped in to deliver the free range eggs. Chatting to one of the owners we heard about the allotment where they grow some of ot veg and salad. We also got tips on growing excellent Dahlias. Well recommended.

Gavin and Christina are lovely and welcoming people who make you feel like part of an extended family. The food is excellent. More than you might pay elsewhere but the quality is worth it. A smoked salmon panini is a delicious lunch stuffed to bursting with top quality salmon. Anything made with their mozzarella is creamy and flavourful. The pasta gets rave reviews from everyone I've spoken to,The cafe itself is very cosy and tucked away from the main town. Not exactly my taste but very refreshing to feel like you're away from the norm. The kitchen is very open which creates a lovely atmosphere, almost like a bustling family home.

The food and atmosphere in this relaxed uncomplicated trattoria is a joy. The specials board is appropriate for the season and is all home made. I thoroughly recommend the coffee, always excellent. The lemon ravioli dish was light, simple and delicious. Recently I had the 'Aussie Breaky' a homage to the Australian joint owner, do try. The dishes are of good value, made with passion by people that love what they do. The welcome always heartfelt. I cannot recommend it enough.

The tri medley of ravioli a joy, the chicken parm was delicious. The friendly owners Cristina and Gavin are relaxed professionals always putting you at ease. The specials board is constantly changing ,the food is a reflection of top quality cooking and knowledge.

If you're looking for deep fried fast food, there's plenty of choice in Minehead, however Cristina and Gavin have created something a little bit special and a little off the beaten track.

Regularly go here for coffee and lunch. We booked a small group for a pre Christmas lunch today. Gavin and Cristina as always welcomed us warmly. The food was excellent. A lovely plate of meat and cheese to share for starter. Slow cooked lamb and to die for potatoes after. A selection of yummy cakes finished our meal. What more could we ask for. Happy Christmas both. Called in for a takeaway and ordered the Parma ham ciabatta sandwich. I had just returned from Italy and could not tell the difference from the fantastic sandwiches in Bologna. Will definitely return for a proper lunch.

Amongst the typical high street chains we wound a real delight! If you want a warm welcome and a proper Italian coffee, please treat yourself to here! Lovely selection on the "today's specials", even though we'd just had lunch....wish we had found this sooner and eaten here. However had coffee and cakes, really delicious! Even bought some pasta from the deli! Perfecto!

When the urge for a proper espresso and/or a very decent home-cooked Italian lunch becomes irresistible, then this is the place to come. It's small, friendly and relaxed, the owners are welcoming, the food is wonderful, simple and flavourful, and you can see into the kitchen area to watch it being prepared. Top marks every time. The only fault we can find with it is that its opening hours are daytime only!

The food and service were OK, but nothing too special either. I didn't feel there was value for money in what were essentially sandwiches on their own. It's nice to see a small and independent place, which there are a few to close from.

Been here quite a lot and it's just such a wonderful place. The couple who run it are so lovely. The food is wonderful, always always cooked to absolute perfection and is also great value for money. I always look forward to having lunch here.

Called in for lunch after reading reviews. Ordered warm croissant with mozzarella in one and mozzarella and parma in the other. The one with para had been overcooked and was black and inedible in places. Coffees were OK. On this visit would not recommend although a regular, who had had ravioli, was full of praise. At £4.50 for the incinerated croissant I would consider it poor value.

Gorgeous ravioli! Freshly prepared food with a small menu that perfectly catered for our mixed group of veggies and meat eaters. Very friendly staff made us feel welcome and we even took some produce home with us.

Gem of a find in Minehead lovely Italian family owned which is lovely with so many chains taking over.Spottlesly clean fresh flowers on the table and food to die for.

We stumbled in here by accident on a rainy Monday lunchtime travelling back home from a weekend in Devon. The food was excellent; fresh, tasty, authentic Italian home-cooking. The portions were large and well priced. Can't fault it. If we're ever travelling through again we will make a bee-line for Passioni Italiane!

I have eaten here several times - normally choosing from the specials board consisting of home-cooked Italian dishes. The ingredients are top quality and every meal has been delicious. As others have said, the coffee is excellent too. Ciao!

This small independent restaurant is a joy. I only wish I lived closer to use it more regularly. The husband and wife team know exactly what customers want and deliver it. It has a relaxed interior with Italian and Australian items to buy featured on old wooden box shelving. Victoria bottled bitter or dried pasta to name two reflecting each of their back grounds. The coffee is very good indeed as was the mozzarella & prosciutto panini. My pumpkin ravioli and sauce delicious. No frills, just simple great tasting food cooked without fuss.

The very friendly owners run this bijou restuarine delay. It is very relaxing and the food is home made by Cristina.

Since Passioni Italiane opened, my friends and family have returned and returned and returned (kicking myself for not having written a review yet!)! It is so perfectly authentically Italian, which is no surprise considering everything is homemade by Cristina (the lovely Italian chef). It is without a doubt the best place to grab lunch in Minehead and very reasonably priced (albeit a small cafe - but worth waiting for a table if they're busy!). The cafe is also a deli, and you can purchase genuine Italian specialties, pastas, wines, oil and much more! I would also say they serve up the best coffee in Minehead (by a long mile). I highly recommend Passioni Italiane - you won't find better in town!

what a treat this Italian place is. We had a lunchtime meal here that was different from the normal fare in Minehead. Freshly cooked and very tasty.

Having had breakfast here on numerous occasions, and I have to say it's the best place to start the day in Minehead, it was time to try lunch. Well, it was brilliant. I had angnoletti with Gorgonzola, walnuts and truffle, while my wife had risotto with prawns, spring onions and squid ink. Both dishes were fabulous. We shared homemade tiramisu and had a coffee, which is always superb. If you love food, real food, then this is the best place to eat in Minehead.

Last minute lunch date with the Hubby and I knew where we should go without doubt. As always a very warm welcome, beautiful food and fabulous, quick service is this cozy little restaurant. I am really looking forward to bringing my friends in when they visit Minehead in a few months. Thanks so much!

Charming owners and Maria's homemade food is fabulous. We had coffee and homemade raisin bread, bought carrot & goat's cheese deep friend balls and plenty of saugages. Definitely will return.

I came in feburary I came only for a drink and I wanted a grapefruit fizzy drink and it tasted nice. Came back in April their food was delicious as I tasted their spicy sausage and mash. When I thought the place was open, the owner said there was a party but as I said it was my birthday he gave me a free passion fruit fizzy drink. I felt so happy and thankful to them. Very cheery and kind owners and recommend the people from Kent or tunbridge wells to come down when on holiday. Thank you you two :-)

Found this hidden gem by accident. A brilliant place with very friendly and efficient service. The food is amazing every time and it is very difficult to choose so we have had to return a few times while in the area. Just bought a house in Minehead so can't wait to move in and become a regular customer.

We decided to eat out and my Husband suggested here as he had been a few times before and has been raving about it. I was not dissapointed..nor our 5 year old Polly! She ordered brucetta but also had huge helpings of ours! Gorgeous food, lovely drinks (coffee and juices) and fabuolus service. This is one time I don't mind my Husband being right! Will be back soon to try more of the delicious food.

A delightful, intimate little cafe that serves great coffee. We had the margherita ciabatta which was freshly prepared and delicious. Looking forward to visiting again soon in order to try some of the other dishes available on the menu. Highly recommended.

A stylish little Italian cafe - a great addition to a rather culinary bereft town. Great tasting, well seasoned food and reasonably priced too. Good house red and lovely coffee. Friendly Italian / Australian owners and Tiramisu to takeaway - what more could you ask?

Delicious authentic lasagne and pasta followed by wonderful tiramisu. Everything homemade by Cristina. Daily specials and also great coffee. Fast friendly service. Will definitely go again.

While I was on holiday in Minehead I found this little haven, after a busy morning exploring my friends and I rested our feet and indulged in some much needed coffee and a toasted croissant. The place has a really unique charm and the staff there are great so we decided to go back for lunch the very next day and enjoyed the meal even more, their all singing all dancing Aussie burgers are sooooo tasty and filling, well worth a visit!!!

Food is always a cut above the local competition and the coffee is to die for........
