Disappointing decline in service I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times for work, often for a week at a time and have spent thousands over last couple of months. Unfortunately, the service has really gone downhill. After my most recent stay, I accidentally left a few small personal items in the room. When I contacted the hotel, I was told they wouldn’t return them unless I arranged and paid for a courier service myself—hardly what you’d expect from a hotel at this price point. This followed issues during my last visit, where I had to raise a complaint about flies in the room, particularly around the windows and coffee machine—definitely not what you’d expect in terms of cleanliness or hygiene. The location is convenient and the gym is a useful perk, but overall, the service and attention to detail have been disappointing. I won’t be rushing back.

I must admit I found myself overwhelmed by the quality of the service coming from the floor staff tonight. I was warmly welcomed and guided to my table by the lovely Julia 🤗 My drink 🍸 was expertly crafted and delivered by the delightful Monika. Upon ordered, my side 🍟was swiftly brought from the kitchen by the incredible Marcelina. Their hospitality was on point and I will definitely return to this refined establishment for dinner very soon. Credits to the chef(s) on shift for the quality of the food aswell. 😋🍽️

We booked a table for 4 on a Thursday evening. The name of the restaurant kind of suggests that this might be a vegan/vegetarian only venue - it couldn’t be further from the truth - there is certainly a full vegan menu but there is an extensive menu offering non-v/v options also. All three courses that we ordered were creatively put together and well presented and cooked. I have scored down for atmosphere as the restaurant/bar was very very quiet on the Thursday evening when we visited. Based on the food service the restaurant should have been booked up. Aberdonians/visitors - if you’re not eating at The Braided Fig you are missing out. And as the saying goes - use it or lose it. Alas, the large braided fig tree in the centre atrium is no longer - a victim of Covid it seems? Even though it remains in the restaurant/bar and is hanging onto most of its shrivelled leaves for now, it does feel like the restaurant might want to invest in a healthy replacement at some point as the old fig tree is now in a rather sad state. Overall, very happy with our meal and would definitely recommend it to others.
