New location on Union Street has facilities for hotpot, which is great for families and get togethers. Have been hoping that Aberdeen would get a hotpot restaurant as my family really enjoys it! We had the set combo C, which was perfect for three of us at lunch with some extra noodles (marketed as a set meal for 2 and I can imagine it’d be great for dinner!) - it had a great selection of meats to try and LOADS of vegetables. The service was excellent and the owner remembered my face from visiting months ago, which made us feel very valued! Highly recommend - sadly forgot to take photos as we were too busy eating!

Popped in for a quick lunch to this hidden gem. My colleague had the Tom Yum Noodle soup which they thought was full of flavour and a meal in itself. My rice dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice on the lunch menu, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the service was efficient. Not busy when I visited, although centrally located at 189 Union Street, the street-level entrance to this upstairs restaurant is not obviously attractive, but once inside the seating is spacious and well-appointed - it really is well worth the effort and deserves to be doing much more business!

I had chicken sate for starter, the chicken was stringy. Main course Thai green curry chicken, the sauce and vegetables were very nice but again the chicken was not great. I do not understand why some restaurants buy poor quality chicken, I will not go back. £7 for a glass of poor quality wine is a rip off.

The curries here had a really good taste, but were spoiled by the very poor quality chicken which was inedible. Rice and sauce it was then , a waste of money. Beer £5.20 a pint, small glass of cheap wine was £7.00. Service was good. I wouldn’t go back, not for that poor quality chicken, plenty other restaurants to spend my money.

I ate here on Saturday night. The food was good - I had the shredded chilli beef. The other half had the hotpot which she scoffed as per. The service was excellent. The bill came to just over £40 for two people which is decent value for money. The place has moved from the Indoor Market to Union Street just opposite KFC. I’d definitely come back, and I’d recommend this place to others.

A friend of mine suggested we'd go here as we wanted to have a late lunch (they close at 5pm!). I never realized there were restaurants inside the Aberdeen market but after having been here I'm definitely coming back! Portions are huge, service quick and the food tastes great! Our server was also very sweet and was so kind to take a few photos of me and my friends. The overall atmosphere of the place is great too, it gives these typical cute/manga vibes, it's lovely! Foodwise I've ordered the green curry with tofu and was great, also tried almond sweet and sour chicken and loved it! Thank you :)

I practically lived in Pad Thai until I moved away to Tokyo. They’ve renovated with the money from me and my friends going so often and I don’t regret it for a moment. I only wish I could visit more often. The sweet teas are amazing and the food is delicious.

My personal favourite place to eat in Aberdeen. I come here at least once a week , ok more like four times a week. Large portions at decent prices served by very friendly staff. If you've never been you have to try Pad Thai. (Pictured today's choice Tom Yum Noodle soup with chicken)

Thoroughly enjoyed the Tom Yum soup with seafood, so authentic. There was slight confusion with our other starter, vermicelli seafood salad ordered but something completely different arrived. Credit to the staff there was no fuss to change it for the correct vermicelli dish. The vermicelli salad was excellent. 3 mains were ordered, Panang chicken curry was tasty and the other two dishes were enjoyed. Went for the iced green tea with condensed milk, asked for it to be made less sweet and more lime juice was added, different and worth a try if you like green tea. Overall a great lunch and it is a tough decision between Madam Mews and Pad Thai. The quality of the soup and vermicelli salad sways me towards Pad Thai.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I ordered chicken Thai green curry and my vegetarian boyfriend ordered tofu massaman. There's plenty of options for vegetarians as the base for most dishes is tofu with the option to change to your choice of meat. The prices are very good and the portion sizes are huge. I couldn't finish all of mine even though I wanted to. The lady at the till was very friendly and bubbly, fab service provided. Also, please don't judge the place for its location in the market, it's certainly a hidden gem.

The best place in Aberdeen to go to for Thai food. Never had a bad meal even when trying something new. If you love Thai food then you really need to pay Pad Thai a visit. My nephew aged 4 loves the Massaman curry! Have tried Madame Mews before but Pad Thai always wins in taste - Pad Kaprow Gai, Pad Thai, Som Tam Thai, Prawn Delight, Red Curry Fried Rice (sorry can't remember the Thai for that one!) are a few of my favourites and regular choice when visiting washed down with a yummy Thai iced tea - can't beat it!! You will find it in the corner passed Madame Mews with the pink walls - can't miss it!! Enjoy!!

This is a small family run restaurant with a limited menu but well worth a visit, but remember it is not a Michelin restaurant, but a place for a tasty treat if you like Thai Street food it is well patronised by local Thai customers, we had the king prawns in peanut starter followed by beef noodles and the one-ton and roast pork noodle soup with deep fried egg on top washed down wit coconut juice, all in a tasty snack.

As has been said in other reviews 'a little gem'...Okay so the ambience might leave a little to be desired given that the restaurant is in a 'pokey' shopping centre...but we had heard good things about this place so sought it out...and what a nice experience it was...it only has a few tables and all were filled during our visit.5 of us all ordered different meals and all arrived promptly and well presented, food was tasty and cooked fresh.Washed down with some sweetened tea. All very authentic.By the looks of it, the restaurant is popular with the local Thai community, which is a good sign.Prices are fair (party of 5 = £40) and the service is friendly and efficient.Again don't be put off with first impressions, this is most certainly not fine dining but fine food all the same. It's only open 10am - 5pm so grab yourself a tasty lunchWe will be returning.

The aberdeen market has a couple of Thai gems so I wouldn't be put off by appearance when you get served such authentic food. This cafe stands out for the friendliness and warm welcome. The spring rolls were great. The sauce with the massaman curry was delicious - best I've tasted however I think the chicken had been over boiled and so I would recommend going for beef or pork. The honey chilli chicken was good and with the chicken being fried, it was perfect. This cafe is very reasonably priced we were £17.50 for all that included drinks.

Having lived in Thailand for 5 years and cooked and dined as the locals there do, we are always looking for cafes, street food and restaurants that are as close to what you would get in Thailand. Pad Thai Cafe is one of these places. From the pictures of the food on the walls, the plastic tablecloths, the tableware, the waft of cooking chillies that catches your throat, to the smiles and chatter of the friendly staff. Along with Madam Mews just along the corridor, this place is where you should go if you want to eat like a Thai! The portions are huge, the prices are very fair and the tastes and cooking style are authentically Thai. If we want Thai food during the day this is one of only two places we will go now. Pity the Market closes at 5pm!

This little cafe in Aberdeen's market gives a very good idea what it is like to eat true street food in Thailand. Growing up eating thai food everyday because my mother being thai I guess gives me a good insight into thai food. I also love cooking it myself too. I came here specifically to try their tod mun goong, as the other cafe next door did not do it. When I was there we also tried the pad thai and the tom yum gai. I would normally eat tom yum goong but it was for my partner and she isn't so keen on prawns. The tod mun goong was really nice, just like Thailand, but the rest of the food was just good. The ladies that run this cafe were super friendly and always willing to help. I would go back here again, but next time I will try other dishes so I can other little hidden gems in their menu on the wall. Prices are super, a bit more familiar to Thailand then big up market restaurants in Aberdeen City and that Thaikhun which is just not thai food at all.

On a rainy day we were feeling nostalgic for sunny days spent in Thailand. We decided to head into the market and were not disappointed. Pad Thai transported as back to crowded roadside places in Thailand. The massamon curry and the moo skewers were particularly delicious, and very cheap. This is an authentic thai place and was absolutely jam packed with thai people. The only downside is they are only open until 5pm.

If you can deal with the dilapidated midden that is Aberdeen Market, then you shouldn't miss out on this interesting little Thai cafe. There's a huge choice of authentic Thai food, most with pictures of the dish on the wall to give you a better idea of what to expect.Pad Thai with all the trimmings and condiments, with a Coke to wash it all down cost me a snivelling £6.50 Cracking value for money and it was absolutely delicious. There are no airs and graces with the staff and it's a fairly basic place. If you can't deal with 'rustic', off you pop to Sabai on Union Street and pay triple what I did.I'm going to go all Pokemon on the place, work my way through the menu and "Catch 'em all".PRO-TIP: Go easy on the chilli flakes served as a side for your meal. I like my food hot, but these made me feel like I was eating magma.

I love eating here if I needed a good lunch. My favourites are Moo Ping and Chicken Pad Thai and tge Thai Lemon Iced Tea.The mains are a good price - £5.50. The taste do vary though as there are 3 cooks that rotate in the kitchen so sometimes they do miss on the taste ie salty but overall really good. If you dont want it spicey hot just tell them and they will cook to taste. My Thai Green Curry is always super hot so I just always ask them medium then its perfect.Brought my Mum here and she loves it a lot too. She loves the noodle soup, Moo Ping and Sticky Prawn. Better tasting than Thai Khun Restaurant in Union Square and cheaper too.Not a negative but just a warning to those not used to Thai Street food atmosphere. This is as authenticvas you would get. No fancy tables and chairs. Thai ladies speak loud at each other, over each other and theres always a lot of them eating here so expect noise and shouting. LolAt lunchtime you must be very very patient as they are always busy andvyou could be waiting 30mins for your food. I always find it better eating at 12nn than 1pm as less busy.Just enjoy the food and ignore the rest. It is worth it!

We discovered this place today quite by accident. We were headed for union square but decided to opt for some food here instead as it seemed very busy and a bit unusual. We had sticky prawns and chicken delight for starters. Both were super tasty with latter getting our vote as dish of the meal. For mains we had Pad Thai chicken which was a chicken/beansprout/veg/noodley type thing and a special rice dish. Both were a huge portion and were very good. Service is definitely slow, there was only one lady out the front with one cook from what we could tell and a constant stream of people waiting for a table. Overall though I really enjoyed it. It really did give off the vibe of a Thai Street cafe (or at least what I imagine that would be like having never never visited Thailand!) Prices were quite good too, just under 25 quid with 2 drinks each. Will definitely return another day!

My wife beef noodle was almost perfect. The beef was tasty and tender. Unfortunately the pad Thai noodle was used. It would be a lot better if the noodle from my pad Se-ew was used. The cafe has a notice from the Aberdeen Council post by the kitchen door "Improvement Required". The price is reasonable (£5.50 per dish). Worth trying. Service a little slow.
