Menu for Aberdeen Restaurant Week looked good so we went for dinner tonight and Kin Kao didn’t disappoint. Tasty menu with lovely choices and the veg and tofu options were delicious. Would recommend and we will be back to sample their full menu.

Tried Kin Kao as one of our choices for restaurant week and was delighted we did, the food was lovely and great value so much so, we are going back next week. Service was friendly and efficient. Will be recommending to friends and family. *****

First impressions walking in was that the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The menu is a good size and we went for the mixed platter to start, which was an excellent choice. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our food was exceptional, which is a rarity these days. Overall one of the best places I've eaten at in Aberdeen and I will be back again.

Food very good. Service not so. 2 meals ordered for 2 people. One being a salad (little did I know this was a starter). Anyway salad arrived, waiting for other meal, waiter then came over to ask, did we want our meals at the same time???Had to then wait further for my friends meal to be prepared. We got a "sorry" from the waiter when he brought my friends meal, but the manager (who took our order) nothing. We wasnt asked at any point if the foid was ok by anyone. It even felt like the manager purposely avoided us as we left our table to leave. No thank you, no apologies for the mistake. I wouldn't of wrote this, as mistakes happen and that's OK, but the ignorance from the manager meant we both left feeling like we were not welcome there?

The most delicious papaya salad and crispy squid. Seriously good food.

Very nice restaurant with a modern feel. There isn't any old school thai restaurant cliché here. It us a modern restaurant serving Thai food. I liked it a lot. The service was very good with friendly staff and the food was very good. Presentation was excellent. On the menu, if it says the dish is Hot, it is, very.

Another fabulous meal here with friends. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed both starter and main course. My penang curry was absolutely delicious, I was stuffed, but did not want it to be over, always a sign of a great meal for me and I can be quite fussy - seriously good food and service to match, well done 👏🏼

Best Thai food in Aberdeen! Everything we ordered was delicious, from the duck to the pad Thai butterfly prawns, we loved it! Would recommend to anyone

To preface this review, I am from Singapore, and have the fortune to access authentic Thai food back home. I have also travelled to Thailand several times, and know how Thai cuisine should taste. I was drawn to this restaurant on account of its extensive menu. Ordered moo ping (Thai pork skewers) and vegetarian tom yum soup. When the food arrived, both dishes did NOT look as they should (see attached photo, anyone who has had both dishes in Thailand will know) nor did they TASTE as they should. The tom yum soup tasted more like a spicy minestrone. Meagre portion size. The pork skewers were dry, when actual moo ping should be moist. The dipping sauce was OK. At least the jasmine rice looked normal. Service was alright. Staff checked on me periodically and cleared the plates promptly. I could use my YouTrip card. Left very disappointed and hungry.

Extensive menu with great choice of dishes. Friendly and efficient service. Food was excellent and portion sizes very good. I had the Tom Yum soup which I think is a benchmark of a good Thai. It was excellent as were all other dishes..

My sister and I came along last minute on Friday for the Aberdeen Restaurant Week menu and we were really impressed- the food came out quickly and tasted amazing. We had the fish cakes, panang curry and hot Thai basil with chicken which were all super. Our server Madiha was fantastic and made sure we were well looked after - thanks so much, we will definitely be back!

Night of storm 27th placed delivery order for 10 people . Phoned advance to check and Chas could not have been more helpful. He went the extra mile in the circumstances which were exceptional weather / getting a driver to deliver / dealing with weather issues in the restaurant . Food arrived exactly on time and was superb - definitely recommend .

The reception was great, the staff are welcoming and friendly. The menu is varied and well priced. The food was served quickly and efficiently and was well presented. The food was plentiful and tasty. Will definitely return to this restaurant when next in town. Nice wine selection also.

We had our work Christmas lunch for 18 people here today and we shared a selection of the three different Christmas set menus between us, including the vegetarian one. The food was absolutely delicious and presented so beautifully. So many things to try and the service was excellent. Really couldn't fault it. My partner and I ended up in Kin Kao by accident on a Tuesday evening and we loved it. It has a warm and cosy atmosphere, the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious and we’d happily dine here again!

Four of us dined here in September and we all had a fabulous meal! The service was very good and the staff were very attentive. Authentic Thai cuisine. Very good value as well.

Wow just wow. My husband and I ate here and were blown away by the tastiness and freshness of the meals. I had a lovely and very unusual duck curry with pineapple. It was amazing. Very clean restaurant. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Aberdeen

Ordered food for takeaway. Food was over an hour and a half late and staff were extremely unhelpful when phoned regarding it. Would not recommend.

We had such a beautiful dinner! Everything tasted incredible, the quality of food and drink was fantastic and all staff were lovely. It’s such a shame in the Aberdeen scene right now. Restaurants like this should be thriving but there was only one other table while we were in. We made no request for anything special as it was my 21st birthday, but still the staff brought out a cake with a candle and sang happy birthday to me. This completely surprised our whole table and was honestly such a lovely gesture. I really hope to be back soon.

My wife and I had dined here once before earlier in the month and was brilliant so decided to come back. My wife was raving about her starter of tempura battered prawns and we both opted for curries. My wife had the red Thai curry and asked if it could be not too spicy and it arrived was perfect for her. I went for the lamb shank in a massaman curry sauce and was the best I have ever tasted. The wine was priced reasonably. The staff were fantastic and very friendly and attentive and nothing was a bother to them to sum up this restraunt it without doubt the best thai in Aberdeen I just don't understand why I have not been before now. The meal was reasonably priced along with the wine and wonderful meal. If you have not tried this restraunt try it I guarentee you will be back we certainly will.

The food was delicious and very well priced. Service was quick and attentive without constantly being at the table hounding you. Only real negative for us was the drinks selection. No cocktails and no on tap beer, which is a small complaint really. Will definitely be back.

The best Thai restaurant in Aberdeen. Top quality food and service. Can only get a takeaway at the moment due to the lock down but looking forward to sitting in very soon when restrictions allow.

Family meal for 8 including a 7 year old. Really looked after us getting special noodles made for our youngster. We had one each of the starter platter, all finished and very tasty, especially spring rolls, tempura prawns and sweet corn fritters. Amazing Som Tam. We had a real spread of mains across grill and stir fry (beef and tofu) they were all lovely. Nice wines and service and we had the banana fritter, which I never have as I just don’t rate them at most places. How wrong can you be. Freshly fried in a Coconut batter and if you do go here, you have to try them, served with Ice cream they were amazing. One happy family, thank you 🤣

Went as part of the local restaurant week and had a really decent meal here. We went for the mixed platter to start and then the main course was the butterfly prawn pad thai which was very impressive , will be coming back to try a regular meal

Terrific. Vegetarian-friendly. Should be on every top-10 list, but is overshadowed by nearby Chaophraya. (And next door to excellent 8848 Nepalese/Indian.)

1730 27th January 2023 Very nice looking facade. All glass with a large Buddha outlined in gold. Very nice interior and layout. A manager and two waiting staff. Taken to a table straight away only a few tables occupied. Asked for water and a large corked bottle and glasses were brought to the table. We had a free bowl of prawn crackers brought to the table. The vegatable spring rolls were good but quite small. The sweetcorn cakes were good and crispy. The spicy fish cakes were tasty but rubbery and quite small and flat. The Massaman curry with chicken was tender very good and not spicy. The Pad Thai with chicken was tender, good, plenty of noodles also not spicy. Pad Gra Prow with beef was spicy and tasty, generous with beef but stringy and chewy. The restaurant had good service.

Food was tasty but very little meat in the beef noodles I ordered and the price was very high for everything.

Absolutely amazing everything about the place is great and the next time we're in Aberdeen we will definitely be booking a table to come back the food is outstanding 👌

The menu on the door and the website says Thai tapas Saturday 12-4pm. Turned up at 3:30pm and turned away as kitchen was resetting for dinner

Food was really nice. Enjoyed everything we had . The ambience is great and staff are friendly. Ordered a cocktail and the staff was honest enough to let me know the guy who made it was out sick and this was just a temp. Made sure I was aware I might not be getting the best and I had the options of wines and spirits instead. Really thoughtful. Ended up getting the cocktail and the temp did real good too. The only thing is that price point is a tad bit on the high side.

Very disappointed in my delivery. My prawn pad thai literally had 3 prawns. Since I had to pay extra I expected to have a bit more, also the nuts tub had barely any in it.Pork starter wasn't bad but definitely not like the description.

4 stars are only for delicious food. However service is really, really poor. I recommend ordering take away though! Lady serving us was rude. We were ready to order only starters at the time but she tried to force us to order everything and said it will come one by one, when we said we are not ready to order she did not seam very happy. After finishing starters dirty, sticky cutlery was put back directly on the table to use again for the main courses. I will not be back to dine in the restaurant due to terrible service.

The food was delicious, lamb shank was perfectly cooked and the curry was amazing. Pricing was a little high, but food quality made up for it. We came on Sunday and were the only customers there, yet the waiter still seemed to forget about us a few times. Had to find him ourselves when we were ready to order and then same for the bill. I would go back again for the lamb shank.

Their tapas menu is very extensive and the chicken larb and pork larb are nice and flavorful.

Table booked at 8pm Arrived and the place only had 5 tables of folks so not busy Starter took 30 minutes to arrive which i admit was tasty After a further 60 minutes there was no sign of the main courses I asked 3 times where the food was Eventually the waitress said she had forgotten to put the order into the kitchen !! At that point i paid for my wine, got up and left None of the staff seemed to realise or care that we'd been sitting in plain view for 90 minutes with no food at our table First time Ive ever walked out of a restaurant The only reason Ive given 1 star is because i cant give zero The food here is decent but the service is terrible and i wont be back for a very long time

I came here on Sunday evening around 19:00. The food was delicious - I had the Panag Curry and it was very tasty. The portion size was good. The service was good too. The prices were quite high, but overall we were very satisfied with our meal and we will definitely come back again soon.

I went with my girlfriend in the late evening, and recieved very good customer service from a young lad, he had some good chat too. I read some reviews saying customer service was slow - i did not have this problem as the restaurant was not super busy. You cannot expect fast service if the place is full, it is unrealistic. I am 1/4 Thai and have experienced real Thai food. The Tom Yum was very good, as were the rest of the starters. I was very impressed. My main did let me down a bit, but my girlfriend had a seabass which she thoroughly enjoyed. Very generous portions, almost too much. But again cannot complain. Thanks

Had to wait a long time for starters and when they finally arrived, one was nothing like what was advertised on the menu. We were told “the chef wasn’t happy with what he produced so he’s given you double the portion”. Errr ok then. When mains arrived, despite choosing completely different dishes from the menu, they looked exactly the same. Until the “forgotten” sauces arrived in seperate bowls. Again….ahem. Despite that, the sauces were delicious and transformed both main course dishes which were tasty after sauce applied. Service was a bit overbearing but maybe because it was a quiet Thursday night…

Went tonight, and it was the worst experience. poor service, waiting for 1 hour for just a starter. then they bring warm plates for the main course which you wait for another 20 minutes. Food is not spicy at all and in Thai place they normally ask you how hot/spicy you want your food. all food was blunt and tasteless. I will not go there again and would not recommend this place.

Myself and my husband had a meal in here when we were visiting Aberdeen. We love Thai food. We ordered our starters and mains, my main was grilled sirloin steak with vegetables , I asked for it well done and without chilli sauce, I was not offered an alternative sauce. The starters were lovely no problems. My main came and was like chewing leather and very, very dry. I could not finish it. It was terrible 😡 I told the waitress but she only said she would tell the chef. The meal came to almost £80 and I was not offered a discount for my meal being unedible . Nice surroundings, quick service but disappointing food.

Food was excellent-arrived before first glass of wine was complete,jolly friendly staff. Decided to skip the dessert as the main course portions were so large. Bill came to £63 for two of us two courses including bottle of wine. Well worth it!!

Takeaway Just received our takeaway which we paid £50 for and it was truly terrible. We've eaten here before and it was really good so I'm not sure what has happened today but they forgot to put in the satay dip for the chicken satay...

I don’t like leaving bad reviews of restaurants but everyone needs to be aware of what an utter shambles this place is. First the good bit - the food is terrific. We had mixed starters, then sea bass, duck, king prawn, noodles and two types of rice. Utterly superb. But we waited an hour for the main course - and it only arrived after I got up out of my chair and complained three times to waiting staff, of whom there were hardly any. People on my left had waited even longer and a couple on my right walked out after sitting for half an hour without service. The place is completely chaotic - service almost non-existent. It is also cold. The heating needs to be turned up. Plus, there was an unanswered landline phone ringing loudly at the bar for half the duration of our visit. The army of Deliveroo/Uber Eats/Just Eat delivery folk cluttering up the entrance just adds to the mess. What a shame that this restaurant just can’t deliver on service. In fact, it’s not actually a restaurant - it’s a food station that occasionally puts meals on a table.

Sorry but there’s nothing good to say about our meal tonight, a series of poor service, poor quality tasteless food, continuously having to call staff. No help with menu, had to ask over and over for water, starters arrived totally randomly, one main arrived so...

We went as part of Aberdeen restaurant week. We wanted to try a new restaurant and, as Thai is one of our favourite foods, we were very excited to try here. We were all so incredibly disappointed with what we received. The food itself was good. Nice, authentic Thai curries however, we did not expect to receive half portions as part of the offer. The restaurants set menu was just a couple of pounds more expensive and far better value for money. I normally struggle to eat 2 never mind 3 courses however, I left feeling hungry which is ridiculous. We were not asked by staff if we enjoyed the meal or approached by them at all without flagging them down. I understand it was busy due to it being restaurant week but to wait an hour to receive both starter and main at same time on the same plate was a bit of a joke. I feel the restaurant was cashing in on this and sadly, I won't be returning based on this experience.

Beautiful place, but very slow service! Fish cakes were like rubber are more egg and fish sauce than actual fish. Went for Aberdeen Restaurant Week and wished we went elsewhere instead. Starter and main came out together, which is odd but not the end of the world. Left full-ish (had 3 courses) but very much unsatisfied. All in all quite underwhelming, don’t think I’ll be back.

Staff are very nice and the food is delicious.

Good ambience, really good food. Full point for presentation as well. Thai red curry was well balanced and prawns were good quality. Keshew Chicken Curry was was dry but flavoursome. Slightly expensive but worth it. Really good outing overall.

We noticed this newly opened Thai restaurant on Union Street and decided to try it out. There was a 2 course menu for £10 that looked to be good value so had ordered from that. The restaurant was spacious and clean. The staff were attentive with quick service. The food was delicious, fresh, cooked well and portions were good sized so you'll leave here quite full! All in all a great experience and I would happily come back here again.

Had a meal there on Saturday, first impression as we went in was "what a smell of damp" there was a musty smell. Service was slow, staff member on phone texting someone, same member of staff in a pair of trainers. Food was below average and portion sizes were not ample for the price. We wouldn't rush back as not restaurant quality.
