Otters Bistro in Liverpool

Avoid. 35 mins to make toast. Just toast. Staff bit*h about you within earshot. Dirty tables. Pricey

1 star cafe charging 5 star prices . Had a lovely walk with the dogs and family. Was resistant to getting a coffee from the cafe because last time rubbish coffee, charging real coffee prices. This time even worse. Spend 12 pound on 2 hot watery 'coudnt taste the coffee's and 1 fancy cold coffee in little plastic cup. I was going to take it back and ask for money back, but didnt want to upset the young girls serving who were pleasant enough, and probably on minimum wage. Overall just a money making scam for the owner, no love, no quality, over priced, minimize costs, maximize profit.

Where do I start? The tables. I don't know what they're wiping them with but it makes everything sticky and tacky. Staff have no initiative; they stand their and talk amongst themselves whilst you wait for your drinks to be made and handed over to you. If you're not at the till they don't want anything to do with you. We ordered 2 ham and mozzarella paninis, halloumi fries and skinny fries; £24.60 including two regular americanos. It wasn't until after I paid I was told there was a half hour wait for food and we waited 6 or 7 minutes for the two coffees alone. Food came just on half an hour but only 1 Panini initially. Server went back and found the other 'sitting on the counter'. Side salad; slimy lettuce from bottom of a salad bag; completely unappetising. Fries, nothing skinny about them...just regular frozen fries. Halloumi fries...4 sticks for £5!!!! Paninis???? Cheese not properly melted, greasy and worst of all it was cheddar, not mozzarella. This is the second time in a month we've gone to this place since COVID restrictions have ended. Should have avoided it to begin with. I'm not a food snob but I have standards. If you do too I'd recommend skipping this place.

We called at this cafe for coffees after our walk along Otterspool promenade. My husband sat at one of the outside tables why I ordered inside from the counter. There were about eight people in front of me, only two wearing masks, also mothers walking around inside around the drinks station and tables without masks on. There was no sign of social distancing either and no attempt by the young staff to speak to anyone not wearing a mask. It felt like no precautions were being taken whatsoever. As I have no intention of putting myself at risk of catching Covid for a second time, I wont be visiting this cafe again.

Ordered bacon on toast, advertised as bloomer bread which gives me a picture of nice fresh thick cut rustic bread at a cost of £3-50. Waited good 20 minutes but was busy so it is what it is but feel like I have been done, all for purchasing from small business but what I received greggs does better for a quid! Shame really as good location so really should try harder. What I got was 2 burnt slices of thin sliced poor quality bread with 2 slices of the smallest rashers of bacon I think I've ever seen 😎 sad really as all I could hear around me was people complaining. Think cafe needs a rethink on either the prices or quality as just a poor effort.

I waited in a queue outside so I could go into the cafe to purchase a drink. I wore a mask. The group of three young mums behind me didn't. The young man organising our queue told them to just pull the neck of their jumpers up over their mouths! They did this briefly on entering the cafe then just ignored any pretence of complying with the covid rules. It was all pointless anyway as many people were coming through from the adventure playground area with their noses exposed or no masks on anyway. I won't be going there again as it is not safe.

Given that we are in times of Covid. The amount of adults walking around the cafe area with no mask on is disgusting. Also the number of children running between tables is in my eyes unacceptable. Isnt that what the play area outside is for? Albeit very overpriced for what is essentially a play park. Shall not be returning for obvious reasons.

Always stop for a coffee here on visit to Otterspool. Really handy for women of a certain age and parents of young children to have somewhere to get a bite to eat at a reasonable price and access to toilets. Can’t wait for it to be fully functional again. Feels safe and well run

I visited the cafe today at Otterspool. I ordered a coffee and tea and toast for my client. I paid and was then ordered to wait outside. I wasn't asked to wait outside, which I knew because of covid-19 guidelines, I was told, "Go outside and wait". No please or thankyou. In response, I asked to speak to the manager as I was not happy about being spoken to so rudely. The manager came out, and on hearing what I had to say, replied, it's because of covid-19. I hope they read this and the service improves. Anon.

I can only think that the owners dont read TripAdvisor. I was in the area photgraphing ships and much against my wishes had coffees from the cafe. Somehow I knew it was a mistake and it was. I sat in the car so dont know what food or the building was like now. The coffeee is hellish. I have no idea whose beans they are using or what machine they are using but it is worse than dishwater. In fact dishwater would have a flavour. The product is simply hot coloured water. PLEASE change your supplier - I would happily advise but your current one is a disgrace. Your offer is dreadful sorry

Wouldn’t eat or drink here owner is rude supposed to be dog friendly cafe if your a dog lover I’d stay clear of this establishment and it’s owner !! He profiled my dog as some nasty large dog customers even expressed they couldn’t believe the way he spoke to us And pretty much chased us out the door !!! STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE

This place has changed and cant quite work it out. The place is now dismal - Its like a huge open space airport waiting area. Dead and boring. Food is second rate and service poor. Coffee fairly dire. The name has also changed. Shame as this place had a homely feel to it. I assume change of hands so from a nice stop off place it is now a not return place.

Came with my 2 Grandchildren at 12.45, asked for 2 pieces of toast and was told they finished breakfast at 12.30, I asked if they could accommodate us, they refused. Terrible family service

Sadly I have been disappointed by the service here on many an occasion, the only reason I return is that it's the only cafe in this particular area and the views are great. The staff an surly, rude and disinterested. The food is over priced and of low quality. The interior is soulless like the interior of an army barracks with tables laid out row upon row like a school dining room. I was helpfully told that I could sit on the opposite side of the cafe looking at wooden structures and trees, (again in my head, because unlike the staff I do have manners) not quite the same as gazing out at the river and promenade eh!!!!!! Abysmal !!!!!!
