Osaka Japanese Restaurant in Cardiff

This is my new favourite restaurant. Cozy, unassuming, family run with a warm and welcoming atmosphere... and then the food arrives. There was silence at our table except for the occasional sigh as we enjoyed a taste sensation. I can only say you must pay Osaka in Cardiff a visit. You won't regret it.

Ordered a takeaway (regularly use this restaurant - in fact looking at my just eat account I’ve spent over £807 there in the last year with various people) and one of the Hana rolls tasted off, so I spat it out. It made me very sick and I contacted the restaurant to let them know. Had a reply to say sorry I felt I’d had a bad experience but there was nothing wrong with the food and a laughing emoji reply to my message. They then sent a picture of some salmon as if that proves anything. I told them I wasn’t happy and would contact EHO who could take a sample as their response was so poor. They then offered a refund but said just eat wouldn’t let them refund without us contacting them directly. Which we did. Just eat said that as this more than 24 hours after the order we couldn’t request a refund but the restaurant confirmed they had refunded the meal and we would receive it in 7 days. Now I have a message saying just eat cannot refund the meal and asking me to contact them to resolve the issue. So I’ve paid to have a weekend in the toilet and been given the run around in the aftermath. Will never order from here again

Wedi mwynhau ein bwyd yn arw. Amrywiaeth o fwydydd wedi eu coginio’n flasus. Thoroughly enjoyes our visit again. Tasty food and good service. Lwcus i fyw’n agos! Lucky to live near this restaurant!

The food was delicious and the service was great. Plenty of veggie options to choose from. I recommend the korroke curry rice!

Food was very prompt, very tasty and we felt looked after. Our young child was welcomed and catered for.

It was over 90 mins late, and the quality was below average. I am quite sure the seafood is frozen & canned. The squid was incredibly rubbery, and it all lacked flavour. When it eventually arrived it was hot at least, and the dumplings were alright (standard frozen fodder, but fine). All in all, disappointed, I would not recommend, and I won’t be going back.

Really good food and service. Would def recommend and be going back. If Japanese cuisine is your thing definitely worth a visit

This place used to be great but the hygiene has taken a turn for the worst! I was sick the last time I ordered the chicken, it was slimy and ice cold! Will never be coming back to this restaurant ever! Poor excuse for japanese food!

This was our first visit to Osaka and it was a wonderful experience. Full track and trace was in place, our temperature was taken and the staff wore masks. We met friends here and we all thorough enjoyed the food we ordered. We tried a range of fish starters and then all had different main course, each dish was declared special and delicious. The food was served with a smile and the waiting staff were very attentive. There is a short wine list and draught Japanese beer available. The loos were well appointed and clean.

We ordered a delivery with Just Eat for our first ever Japanese takeaway. They advised it would be an hour and was just under an hour. The food arrived hot and was so tasty and we received a text to say the delivery was on it's way. I have never eaten in the Osaka restaurant but based on this evening's meal we would certainly order another takeaway.

Really good food the Katsu Chicken Curry was lovely as was the Ramon. Ordered and delivered in good time, still hot and the delivery man was following Covid regulations which was good to see.

Amazing fresh sushi and service! We arrived with out a booking and was told to return in fifteen minutes, went to the pub for a beer then returned to a clean fresh table. The place was busy with takeaway orders and guest all social distancing and all the staff wore masks. The food was delicious, fresh quickly served but not rushed. They had the knowledge to cater for a vegan which was extra special, the even gave me extra pickled ginger and returned a dish I had been confused about when ordering. Definitely recommend this place! It will not disappoint!

Ordered food via Just Eat. When it was over an hour late arriving we called and they said it was 15 minutes away, it didn't arrive. After 45 mins we called again for them to admit they had "made a mistake" and it hadn't actually left the restaurant yet but would now be made a priority order and be with us in 15 minutes. Another hour and numerous failed attempts to phone the restaurant for an update the delivery driver arrives (over three hours after our order was placed) and freely admits the restaurant has now taken their phone off the hook so customers can't contact them because they are too busy. Appalling customer service!

Having been a strong supporter of Ichiban in Cathays, we ventured here, as I was once a strong supporter of this wonderful sister company to Ichiban, and thought to try it. Soon after, they changed to Osaka:, I noticed that the Ichiban quality went down dramatically. Osaka was the best. I can say, after branching out and removing themselves from being linked to Ichiban, that after-trying both... Osaka is seriously the best Japanese food I have ever tasted In Cardiff
