Orto Pizza in Belfast

I’ve heard loads of good things about this place so was happy to try it today. I was very unimpressed. I had the goat’s cheese pizza but it was average at best, it was impossible to pick up after slicing it. The base was soggy so the toppings just slid off. Sorry but not worth the hype.

Great pizza and service. Only marking atmosphere down as we went late afternoon when it was empty. Would return.

Delicious food and excellent gluten free bases. Server was quite rude and threw out orders onto the table. Also told us to hurry up and leave for the next table waiting (we had no idea and happily cleared the table) tiramisu was to die for

Very efficiently run however didn't get a welcome feeling being rushed back out door literally the minute we finished our food. no time to enjoy our company. Felt like being in a cattle cue.

Quite nice pizzeria without being incredible either because it is quite expensive. The Caesar salad was good but with ham, and you had to pay extra for the chicken, it was a bit strange.

We visited on a very cold and wet evening and were greeted by very friendly staff. The restaurant was warm and festive, the food was lovely and served quite quickly after we ordered and it was served by a very attentive happy young man. An all round good experience

Good quality tasty pizza and starter, but only slight downside was the tiramisu they did not use tradition savoiardi biscuits in it and not much coffee. Service was good but was not asked how meal was and this gives a nice touch to your meal experience. Atmosphere was good for a Tuesday, but slightly cold in restaurant had coat on all through meal. 8.5/10 is my score for this place.

Enjoyed some pizza here, all of them could be made gluten free. The flavour and toppings were great (had a goats cheese and caramelised onion situation) and the base was acceptable as far as gluten free goes. Lovely quick service.

Best pizza in town! The dough for the base is top drawer with intriguing options for toppings. Well worth a visit but recommend you book in advance.

I have think the place is overpriced, pizza had sweet tomato sauce base- as if sugar was added, and a small cocktail or glass of wine was 7 quid. The chilli oil tasted like just oil with red food colour. Not for me, would not be visiting again

Came here on the recommendation of my walking tour guide. Yummy pizza, made even more delicious by the hot honey dip! Very friendly staff.

We have tried numerous pizzas in Italy, the best ones in Russia and several strong options in the UK (Paesano in Glasgow, Franco Manca and Pizza Pilgrims in London) and these pizzas can easily be in the top-10 among all of them. Definitely a bright spot in Belfast for pizza lovers

I have loved Orto since the first restaurant opened in Stranmillis, however, seemingly echoing quite a few reviews already on here, the customer service we experienced at the Talbot Street restaurant at the weekend was extremely off-putting. We arrived at our table on time at 6.30 Saturday evening, the waitress serving our table was lovely and we enjoyed a really tasty meal. However after being at the table for no more than an hour and 15 minutes, we were told that the table was booked after us and we had 15 minutes left on the table. We still had cocktails to drink so we continued to drink them. Another waitress approached the table 5/10 minutes later with our bill (which we hadn’t asked for) and told us the table was booked for 8.30pm and we needed to leave, bear in mind it wasn’t even 8pm at this stage. I was really not happy with the way we were spoken to but we finished up our drinks and got up to pay the bill. I’ve never had an issue splitting a bill at the other Orto restaurants so was surprised when I was very rudely told by the waitress who brought us the bill that they wouldn’t do it for us. I politely mentioned that I’d split bills at the other locations and the waitress responded so rudely to me, cutting me off. I was honestly shocked that she thought it was okay to speak to a customer like that. The bill was sorted by another (much more pleasant) member of staff, however we left feeling deflated as we’d been spoken to so badly. I love orto but would be put off from returning based on the last experience.

It's always sad to give a negative opinion to a restaurant but I ate a truly 1 star pizza. Both the mozzarella and the tomato lacked flavor. I'm sorry but when you spend 45 euros for two pizzas at least they are edible.

One of the best Italian spots in town - I would recommend the goat cheese-rocket salad it’s just amazing and of course the mushroom and margarita pizza 👌🏼

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE CEALIAC DISEASE!!!!! OR A GLUTEN INTOLERANCE!!! I am cealiac and I had their gluten free pizza, it was nice taste wise but within 30 mins of consumption I was throwing up and in a lot of pain; which can only happen from gluten cross-contamination. This place is NOT SAFE FOR CEALIACS, regardless of them having a gluten free menu their preparation was not safe given how sick I was afterwards; and having been gluten free for a whole year since my diagnoses this is the very first time I have actually been glutenated while eating out and it was at this very restaurant so please do not eat here if you're allergic to gluten!

Pizza was lovely. Don’t order the tiramisu, it comes with frozen bits, and don’t expect patient servers. Cormac who served us has terrible manners, not offered a dessert as time ran out, no apology either. Orto care more about making money (quick turnaround of customers) than keeping customers satisfied.

Excellent meal here today. The rating of 4.2* lead us here and it proved even better. The pizzas were excellent, the salads were delicious especially the beetroot and goats cheese and we really loved the honey on the nduja sausage pizza. The girl who served us was very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant and the place is spotlessly clean including the loos. It was good value for money too. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Weird experience at restaurant.Staff didn’t know what to do .When pyscho on drugs attacked restaurant. Manager no where to be seen!! Police very slow to respond!! What do you pay your taxes for ????

Nduja & Mozzarella Arancini and roasted stuffed jalapenos are a really good starter. The goat cheese pizza (4) and the nduja, mozzarella, caramelized onion, fresh basil and hot honey pizza (6) are amazing. I'd also recommend the bramble cocktail.

Really nice meal in here tonight. The pizza was excellent, the starters were delicious and I really love hot honey. The girl who served us was very friendly and always made sure we had everything we could want. Atmosphere there as a great crowd, full of energy and a wee bit of everything in there. My kids loved their meals too although I’m amazed they ate their pizzas with the HUGE starters. Would definitely recommend.

Had a chill pizza and a number 7 ,chorizo. Hubby and I had half and half. We haven't been off the toilet all day. It can only be the pizza as other than that we only had a slice of toast. I'm add more info . Day 2 now and eere still poorly having to seek medication. I need the restaurant to contact me.

Best pizza and banana bread ever! Love the soft based and wonderful combination in banana bread. However, it's a bit pricy. Despite that, it's completely worth it!

For a large party the food was pretty good. Promptly served starters and the pizza had a nice flavour. My friend’s pizza took about 15 minutes longer than the rest coming out so they wiped it off the bill, nice touch. That waitress was lovely. However, looking back through the reviews a common theme is the rude staff and I can see why. One waitress in particular said something along the lines of “I’m serving another table but what do you want?” when asked to refill the water jugs, leaving the whole table a bit shocked. Only informed about 15 minutes before the reservation that they required the table back in exactly 2 hours. I’ll acknowledge our party came in staggered but they had the pre order and were told to go ahead and serve the food if needed. They also took about 15 minutes to clear pizza when everyone had quite obviously finished. On the clock, 8 minutes until time’s up and some of the party still finishing their dessert, the rude waitress comes over with the bill and says we have 10 minutes left. I also seen another table get rushed up to leave with one guy standing finishing his beer while hurriedly putting on his coat. They need to look at the booking system because tables are clearly squeezed in too close together time wise. When your table is dropping over £600 on dinner you expect the service to be at least polite. Decent pizza but wouldn’t return based on this experience.

The pizza was really nice and the focaccia was some of the best I’ve ever had. The wine was ok but would have been nice to have a couple of options. Very busy - so book if you can. The staff were lovely and accommodating despite not having a reservation. Good atmosphere - brighter than you’d expect but works.

No customer service whatsoever. Mistakenly booked a table in Bedford Street instead of Talbot Street...arrived at Talbot Street to be told they could give us a table no problem but we would still be charged £80 by Bedford Street for not turning up there...asked could they not contact them to let them know...a flat NO. Couldn't find a number on website to let them know we would be late...went back in to Talbot Street to be informed they have no phone and my only way to contact was via editing the booking. At that point asked to speak to manager who never appeared but same girl came back to say it would be fine to stay in Talbot Street...meanwhile messaged Bedford Street who responded to say if we stayed in Talbot Street they would charge us the £80... To be clear neither restaurant was booked out... I get this was a mistake on my part but seriously...it's the same place...what difference did it make...they clearly hadn't turned any bookings down. This was a regular lunchtime haunt that I will never return to.

Modern interior of a pizza place. Small selection of pastries on offer. The pastel de nata was too flat, dense and sweet and limp. The coffee was over roasted and milk to hot so bitter and has a moo taste to the milk. Disappointing tasting coffee and pastry and the queues is too long due to the slow coffee making.

Very good pizza Could do with more vegetarian options on the menu

It started off with the hostess explaining I love your jumper to my girlfriend when we walked in and after seating us and giving us menus as the waitress came to take our drinks order she also asked my girlfriend where she got her jumper from because the hostess couldn’t stop talking about it. So far very friendly and warm over boringly professional and it really set a nice tone! The Arancini was delicious and up there with Milan levels of quality, the only problem was having 3 balls between 2 of us. On to the pizza which was AMAZE. The cheese and tomato pizza had the toppings perfectly spread with it cooked to perfection and even eating the crusts plain was a delight. The salami and prosciutto pizza complimented the cheese and base lovely as well. Both Pizzas were amazing, the staff was a delight, we were too stuffed for dessert but I have zero regrets.

Like a conveyer belt. 20 mins before we were offered a drink. Food came, took another drinks orde then said we had 15 mins to leave. No option to split a bill. Won't be back.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt I had to. I stopped in the Bedford street restaurant for lunch today. It was pretty obvious having a bad day, but the staff, especially the waitress ,were so nice and kind to me that it added a bit of brightness to it. Even though I didn’t get your name, I just want to say thank you very much.

Nice environment, calming, and very good and filling food !! Truly recommend and friendly for friends gathering, I recommend the number 8 pizza and red velvet cookie, big portion size and truly delicious.

Good quality food, got the pepperoni hot honey pizza however pizza was a bit oily. Good fresh ingredients could do with a little less of the honey. Service was ok nothing special, Nobody approached me after my order had been placed. Would go back for a safe pizza option and ask for more cook on the pizza without the honey.

Our visit to Ortho was marred by an impatient and rude waitress who unexpectedly rushed our lunch and insisted that we vacate the table in 25 minutes without prior notice. This unexpected turn of events significantly affected our mood, creating the impression that there might be xenophobic motives in the waitress's behavior. This suggests possible problems. I strongly recommend that the waitress' disturbing behavior be addressed and administrative action taken. The pizza did not meet our expectations in terms of taste and quality.

Pizza was hard like a stone and very rude waitress at the door. I had to wait long till someone take my order. I will never come back

Service was lovely from the male member of staff. Food was ok. I had high expectations so it wasn't wow. I thought it would be more of a fancier restaurant, but just another chain like pizza express, but you pay way more. Restaurant too bright and way to warm. I met other customers in the loo complaining of the overbearing heat. They did turn a/c on. Also they have dishes on menu which they mark vegetarian,but are not. When we queried about the parmesan, the waiter double checked for us, and indeed it is not vegetarian as we thought. You can obviously have without, but they shouldn't be labelling a dish vegetarian if it isn't

The servers were really attentive (one guy in particular was extremely lovely), the food was decently priced and very flavourful. The hummus and flatbread was so good. Quite a good selection of veggie/vegan options in general which was much appreciated.

Some of the best pizza we've ever had. Highly recommend the ndjua flatbread too. Great service, even though the place was packed and we didn't have a booking. Desserts didn't disappoint. Wouldn't hesitate to come back here.

Good was OK. Though iv had better in other places such as little wing. The fact that they do not split the bill is a massive problem. Especially as there were 12 of us. We chose from a set menu. My starter was delish. Pizza was just ok

Orto is some of the best pizza I've ever had. The pepperoni and hot honey pizza is amazing. My partner got the gluten free pizza too and enjoyed it. However the nduja sausage on her pizza was way too spicy and this is coming from someone who loves spicy food. We had to remove most of the sausage to make the pizza edible.

The pizza was great. Nice, soft dough, extremely thin in the middle like the authentic Neapolitan pizza. Good filling. N.3 with pepperoni and hot honey is sublime. The restaurant is a bit too small and if you're 1 minute late you will start getting texts from the restaurant through the dojo app saying that they will keep your table only for 5 minutes. I understand that their restaurants are small and they want to maximise their turnover but this is a bit strict and annoying. Plus, there's no phone number you can call: what if you're an older person, your battery is dead or you have no data and you're running late? We found very confusing that the Orto website only displays two restaurants (the Stranmillis and the Bedford Street) but on Google maps only the Stranmillis and the Talbot street can be found. Our taxi driver ended up driving us to the Talbot restaurant and we had to take another taxi to go to the Bedford one, with the dojo messaging pestering us because we were late. This is confusing and something they could improve.

We have been to Orto a few times and are yet to be disappointed. On our most recent visit we had two kids and a baby. We booked ahead about 30 minutes before arrival and had a perfect table for our needs. The service was great and everyone loved their food. We had the white pizza that was on special and a lovely goats cheese and beetroot salad.

Just arrived in Belfast on Friday 2/02/24 went to the restaurant in Talbot st , we hadn’t booked never eaten in an Orto restaurant before , the lovely staff member Claire found us a table , the food was amazing , just couldn’t fault this restaurant all staff were lovely but Claire was so lovely went above and beyond telling us about places to visit just such a lovely young lady !!! Thank you 😀

The pizza is as tasty as it looks, absolutely fantastic.

Good pizza. Quite crisp and light. It’s not got the soft chew of a traditional Neapolitan style.

The food was delicious, fantastic pizza base and sauce and generous amount of toppings. The macaroni and mushroom fritters were absolutely unreal, a welcome surprise. Staff were attentive enough but service seemed a bit rushed even though it wasn't that busy at the time. Nice relaxed atmosphere and family friendly. Only problem we encountered was that there was only one toilet and a few people were waiting for a while to get use of it. Would definitely recommend trying it out for the delicious food at a very reasonable price

Service was shockingly bad both times we went. Disinterested in taking drinks order, had to go find someone a few times throughout the meal and beg them to order a drink and even at that would take my order and run off without asking rest of table. Not attentive at all. Staff could do with training in customer service. They would def get more money in if they learnt to check in with quests a bit more.

The food was lovely but almost came out too quickly. We had ordered cocktails and the food arrived before they did. The service was severely lacking, everyone was disinterested and we had to go and find waitresses on more than one occasion to order more drinks. We had tried to phone to see if we could modify our booking as we were running late only to find there was no phone number available, seemingly a massive oversight. We messaged on the booking system to be told it wasn’t possible as our table was rebooked for 1900 (we had a 1700 sitting). That wasn’t an issue, we rushed and got there on time. However as we were trying to order a final round of cocktails the staff were very short with us telling us they could maybe make one but we wouldn’t have time to drink it as they needed our table back in fifteen minutes. It seems other people were told about the hour and a half seating, but we were literally informed on the way to the restaurant that we had the table for two hours. It wasn’t necessarily an issue, but it felt extremely rude the way the waitress was talking to us, then proceeded to come over with the bill and leave it on the table after telling us off. Really made us feel quite embarrassed if I’m being honest as it felt like they were kicking us out after paying a significant amount of money on cocktails and a lot of food. After getting a bill for lovely food and several lovely cocktails it really ruined the experience to leave on a sour note as it really felt like we were being treated like children and that we were just another number. I really do appreciate tables have bookings after you’re eating, but it was the way we were spoken to and chased out the door, especially considering there were several empty tables around us and no one queuing, it just felt a bit unnecessary to be so rude and short with us. Would not return which is a shame.

Food was extremely good and decent sized portions. The downside was the constant feeling of being rushed by the staff as they wanted the table back for the next group. We didn’t take very long over ordering etc but the bill was still set down while we were in the middle of eating dessert, which took around 15 mins to be brought out after we ordered it.

Worst customer service EVER. Arrogant and impolite staff. Especially the old guy with the tattoos at the entrance who thinks that is someone special there, while he just wipes the tables, and brings the menus. Maybe he has to remember that works at a pizza shop before having this attitude. Get some customer service experience first and then work at store. Good luck with your business (I don’t see any tho)

Best Place around city centre for Pizza ♥️💯 Amazing starter’s Stuffed Jalapeño is my favourite. Tried mushroom fritter thats just so lovely Pizza no.4 as-usual the best Pizza no 6 as well was good personally i didn’t like the meat option which ham and pepperoni. My husband and I ordered a white pizza, stuffed jalapenos and garlic bread. As dessert, Tiramisu and chocolate chip bread with butter with vanilla ice cream scoop. The dinner was fantastic, nothing to complain. BUT, the dessert were not good. The chocolate chip bread was still ok but I would NEVER call that a tiramisu. No only it was not cold (so you would assume they had just made it before serving), but the ladyfingers were not wet, they were dry and It did not taste coffee at all. I never had a worst Tiramisu before. I've even had better ones from the supermarket. Also the restaurant could provide a specific knife for pizzas. The knife they provide is terrible. I felt extremely frustrated when eating or trying to my pizza. I would go back for the pizza but never for the desserts.

Visited last week and started with a few cocktails which were gorgeous (Vintage Mai Tai and Bramble). We had a small problem with our starter but the staff were so lovely, they apologised and ensured it would be removed from our bill. Our pizzas arrived and they were stunning. I had the nduja, caramelised onion and hot honey. My mouth is watering thinking about it. We had a second round of cocktails and then the biggest cinnamon roll I have ever seen. Out of this world. If I could live on their Pizza and Cinnamon rolls, I would but I'd also be unable to move from my seat.

Great food. Pizza was delicious. Hat off to the chefs 👍🏼 Service not good. Asked for Lactose free cheese (Vegan cheese) due to my allergy. Discovered next day definitely wasn't lactose free 🤮. Asked for a double espresso received a single ristretto from a very fancy coffee machine. With no Creme. Staff need to be coffee trained. Please do that machine some justice and clean it once in a while.

Big fan of this local pizza restaurant (it is a godsend to Belfast's dearth of the Italian stuff) and wanted it to succeed - but sadly the service is v poor. Have been dismissed mutiple times by the gilet-wearing manager. Poor. P.S. - needs some more soft furnishings

Pizza was nice however very disappointed with service. This was my first visit. The food came out a little too quickly, I was quite shocked. The waitress then put the bill on our table after one hour twenty minutes. I thought a bit rude but carried on chatting, she came back 10 minutes later and said 'this table is booked NOW' we had not finished our wine, my friend had just order tea and didn't drink any of it. I queried that I thought tables were for 2 hours and advised that is only for parties of 8. Highly unusual and a bit useless if out with a small group as I was. Came to pay and bill wrong by £30, corrected this when queried and gave us a refund of £2 for the tea. Won't return, very poor !!!

Great pizza. Probably my favourite dine-in pizza in town. Their house beer is great too.

Food was tasty but the restaurant was freezing cold which took away from the experience, meant we had to eat in out jackets which is never nice and is uncomfortable. Also meant food got cold quite fast. We weren’t asked if everything had been ok when we were paying the bill, otherwise I’d have said this there and then. Just took payment then said thanks bye.

Thought this place was gonna be overrated but IT WAS NOT. Every bite was excellent. I got the nduja arancini, the chorizo pizza, and the cinnamon swirl… but I honestly feel like based on those everything would be delicious. The staff was also truly lovely!
