Had some lovely chicken n fried rice 😩 They handled all my special needs 👍👍

The food was nothing to write home about. Very average, but satisfactory for the cuisine. The prices on the online menu were about a third as much as in person. It seems quite deceptive to not have the online menu match at all with what I was handed in the restaurant. I prefer to avoid restaurants with questionable practices like that, whether intentional or not. Wouldn't recommend unless you were staying a while here, and even then, I think there are better options in town.

Who knows, family members, you get 2 cents for 1 yuan.

Would not recommend, no flavour, food far to salty, rice was stodgy. More onions than meat. Overall horrible and expensive.

Absolutely shocking £50 for two Chinese meals , then my husband was confronted by an member of staff who wanted to fight with him, please avoid this place , terrible

As is the usual story, it was embarrassingly the first time I had eaten at The Oriental House. The food , service and overall I was delighted and enjoyed being in this long established St Andrews restaurant.

A very delicious Chinese restaurant, and the Hong Kong-style food is very good. The food is served very quickly. Highly recommended.

Tiny Portions and tasteless Amateur waiting 45 minutes for a bang average meal I cannot say how disappointed I am. There moist be a better one in St Andrews. Next to no chips and half filled tubs. An absolute joke

Food tasted really nice, but portion sizes were microscopic. Enough veg, but very little chicken in our 3 dishes, we’re all still hungry!!

Can’t understand the bad reviews, clearly someone with a grudge! We had takeaway twice during the week, the food was amazing, delivery service on time and so friendly, portions fab and a good price. Best Chinese takeaway in ages!

Decent traditional 'British Chinese' plus some more authentic dishes. A little tatty but perfectly pleasant and reasonable value for money.

Had craving for some Chinese, although mixed reviews I tried and I can say this place does great authentic Chinese food and does it well. I had the beef fried flat noodles, a classic dish, bak choi with garlic, a simple staple dish and added a salt pepper ribs, which were great!

Best Chinese in Scotland. We were in St Andrews for 12 nights and kept going back. Great flavour crispy vegetables. Fantastic menu. Highly recommended

Crispy beef was quite tough but it was flavourful. Service was quick and the portions were a decent size for the price. Much better than the Thai down the road

Ordered 2 chicken satay and egg fried rice last night. This was the worst take away food I have ever experienced. You’re lucky if you get 80g of chicken per portion and the presentation and flavour is just awful. I would have been embarrassed to serve this and it’s a perfect example of abject neglect bourne out of operating from a prime location. Avoid at all costs.

Have been a regular here for a year or so. Ordered a dozen times without a single error so far, in general pretty good. I am deeply in love with their Malaysian Fried Rice

Food was bland and service dreadful. Update, just saw restaurants comments and clearly didn’t remember who I was. I was on my own and seated alone in back corner next to bar. No one was seated near me. I ate 1/2 and asked the rest be boxed as takeout. Never ate the rest. Never spoke to any other customers and certainly didn’t try anyone’s food.

For Taiwanese tastes, I think it's quite delicious. The portion is quite large and people with small appetites may not be able to finish it.

Food absolutely fabulous, a super efficient elderly Chinese lady served us and she was brilliant!!!!! Late in years but she added greatly to the experience. Brilliant experience

Maybe the decor is somewhat dated but the food certainly makes up for it. Everybody raved about the egg fried rice and the starters and main courses were absolutely top notch. A bit of fun trying to communicate with the waitress but hey ho. Definitely recommend........

Very fast delivery, standard Chinese-style special curry and rice. Food was delivered at just the right temperature. Good comfort food.

We stopped for take away her on Thursday 29th June. The portions are disgraceful. The food was very poor very very small portions really a rip off we felt we ordered a good few items and The chicken balls were tuff as old boots as was the chopped chicken curry. The salt and pepper chicken wings not good either and The beef and mushroom had hardly any beef mostly all mushrooms. We also ordered duck portion again it was find the duck mostly vegetables. I would not every use this take away ever again. To be honest we get Chinese takeaway from our local and we have never had an experience like this with half portions. Avoid at all cost we were left a very hungry family and it was not cheap!!!!!!

My girlfriend and I made a day out of travelling to St Andrews and were both craving a Chinese meal… we were not disappointed. I have had the best beef curry and egg friend rice I’ve ever had in my life… and finished off with a fantastic banana split 😍 we’ll definitely be spending the hour and a half travel more often to visit this fantastic small restaurant. 10/10

As bad a chinese meal as I've ever had, tasteless watery sauces, dry meat, bang bang chicken was basically just soggy batter, satay was full of onions carrots and bizarrely celery and Pineapple! Chips were a disgrace aswell. Very disappointing.

Very sorry to say buy the food was just poor. We were the only table in on a Saturday night at around 8pm which should have set off warning bells. Lady who served us was friendly enough but the food was so poor, it was hugely disappointing. The phoenix prawns were like rubber and completely tasteless, although the manager assured us they were fresh?! Tasted frozen to me. The crispy pork wontons were soggy around the meat, and while I appreciate there was some shrimp paste in the mix, they had an unpleasant fishy aftertaste. As if they were fried in the same frier they were using for fish. We had one individual wonton/prawn off each dish and left the rest. All the sauces provided were bought in and low quality and overall seasoning was either non-existent or over done. Having looked at reviews afterwards here on TA it seems like they are paying people for 5* reviews as there is nothing authentic about the cooking here. Almost untouched dishes were cleared without asking if anything was wrong and when presented with the bill we said we didn't feel it was fair to pay for the prawns (at that point thinking this was already generous on our part as we didn't eat the wontons either), at which point the manager was called and started haggling with us, telling us taste is subjective... overall it was a very expensive round of starters, half untouched, and a fairly awkward experience.

First visit back in almost 30 years.....still feels the same. Authentic traditional and modern Chinese food on offer. Well worth a visit!

Awful experience. AVOID! Restaurant staff were lovely and kind. However, we ordered to be delivered to Morton of Pitmilly. Delivery driver was worse than useless. He was on the phone describing where he was. We are not local and didn't know. I sent him our live location and he still could not find us. We did not get our food and left a large family of 10 very disappointed 😞

Called to get food they sent the wrong food then manger said tuff luck and tried calling them back and they ignored call. This takeaway only want your money and food is not good

Went in late on with 2 friends. Was very very busy. Restaurant a little basic but clean and perfectly acceptable. Food arrived quickly and very tasty. Staff were very good and efficient considering the pressure they were under. Still smiling throughout. Would definitely go back

I'm very familiar with HK Chinese food and I have to say the food here is exceptionally good, better than anywhere I know in London. I get takeaways from here regularly and the ingredients are evidently top quality and as good as what you would get in China - this is particularly extraordinary for a small establishment in a Scottish coastal town. Everything is fresh and that really comes through in the taste. In particular the Hong Kong Hot and Sour soup was absolutely delicious, and inexpensive for such good quality - just under £3. The takeaway service is very efficient and my meal was ready within 15 minutes. Highly highly recommend this place for an authentic meal, but if you're the sort of Brit who has no appreciation for authentic cuisine and orders chips wherever he goes then I suggest you look elsewhere!!!

Don't be put off by the simplicity of the restaurant. A group of 8 of us had a lovely meal last week. Very tasty food, really good menu. we really enjoyed our meal. Very well looked after.

Gem of a restaurant in St. Andrews, our favourite place to eat when visiting this historic town. There are only 6 tables making it cosy but large enough as not to feel crowded when eating. We picked their meal deal today, 3 dishes for under £12, all the food which came to the table was excellent, couldn't fault any of it, clean plates all round. They have a full bar and serve soft drinks, teas and coffee. Prices are on par with other establishments in the area.They also have a take away area downstairs for food collection. The server today was polite, prompt and well presented. Toilets are available for customers. Unfortunately the dining area is up a set of stairs, the take away section is down a few stairs, the gents toilets are down a set of stairs to the rear of the dining area as well, so it will not suit wheelchair users.

There are not many Chinese restaurants in the town. The dishes are good and delicious. The location is convenient.

We've been going to The Oriental House for many, many years for takeaways, and it used to be amazing. The vegan tofu dishes were outstanding, but changed a few years ago, although were still really good. However, the takeaway we got last night was very poor. Tiny portions, and the tofu hadn't been cooked. We didn't enjoy it, and I'm sad to say, that I don't think we'll be back.

This is by far the worst Chinese meal I have ever had, the add insult to injury it was also one of the most expensive I’ve ever had. The food was totally tasteless,dry and loaded with salt to the point I had the shakes in the night. The service for drinks was slow to the point we thought they had forgotten about the £5 small bottle of beer as it came out after our starters. The food comes out in plastic tubs (obviously reheated in the microwave) AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I asked for Spicy Chips and on the bill it was £5.60! I challenged the miserable women waiter who needs to attend a charm school. She tried to justify the cost but obviously could not. She reduced the cost to ordinary chips but that experience, with the food, left a nasty taste in my mouth. There are better places, so avoid unless you require a basic meal at a high prices.

We visited during a golf trip and can only say that whilst clean and presentable the cost was very high and on eating the food was poor. We decided to leave after 4 mixed starter and 1/2 a duck as the quality was so poor and still faced a bill of over £90 for 4 with 2 beers each. The owners really need to look at the pricing and quality!

Excellent food! Didn't taste processed and not too salty. Didn't have the feeling that the food contained artificial colourants and monosodium glutamate unlike some places. We ordered sweet and sour chicken HK style and and crispy spicy king prawn noodles both great!

During a visit to St. Andrews we dropped in here for a spot of lunch as we noticed it was open between 12.30 and 14.30. I ordered the katsu chicken ramen, my wife ordered chicken sweet corn soup and szhuzan chicken and rice. Both dishes were excellent, really tasty which came with free prawn crackers. The restaurant is upstairs with the take away downstairs. The restaurant is small but cosy. The toilets are clean. The premises are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair access as there are steps up to the seating area and the gents are downstairs to the back of the dining room. The server was polite, prompt and well presented. The meal and drinks were more expensive than some other places in Fife but do remember this is in Market Street in St. Andrews which is an overpriced tourist town anyways.

My son and i had a chicken chow mein and fried rice and the crispiest chips ever with prawn crackers absolutely delicious. Great service, speedy delivery. Would positivley recommend the Oriental House. First Class. Our thanks and compliments to all involved.

The food here is excellent. The service is also excellent. Food cooked to order so you have a little wait but worth it.

Absolutamente impactante lugar. Mi esposo y yo fuimos a comer con la mente muy abierta. 8) 50 para un plato de costillas, que eran asquerosas es ridículo. Pagamos menos en un restaurante muy superior en Glasgow. Nuestros dos platos principales fueron terribles, incluso las fichas eran sólidas. Era claramente obvio que no disfrutamos y la anciana solo preguntó si habíamos terminado. No hubo atención al cliente y definitivamente NO recomendaría este establecimiento a nadie. Manteles de plástico grueso, etc. . Una excusa realmente mala de un restaurante: evítela a toda costa. Teníamos 45 años 00 por un asqueroso intento de comida: pérdida total de dinero y no podía esperar para salir del lugar.

Almorcé aquí. No había menú de almuerzo, así que pedimos el menú normal. La comida estaba bien, nada especial. Pero la factura era especial 10/12 para la comida principal que no es irrazonable jajaja la captura era 3. 50 cada arroz jajaja. 2) 70 para galletas de gambas. Podríamos ser solo nosotros, pero donde vivimos el arroz y las galletas generalmente son con comida. Disfruté de la comida pero casi me ahogo

I haven't used this take away in quite a while as they had been inconsistent in the past so I thought it was time to give them another try. I kinda wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered the beef curry and, once getting it home, I discovered the thinnest slithers of beef imaginable. The curry sauce was also thin in nature and had a weird balance to it, one mouthful would be fine, the next would blow the roof of your mouth off. The only saving grace was that the chips that came with it were very tasty, if not for those this eating would have been even lower.

It was good many years ago, but nowadays people don't want to work. Used to be open a long time at lunch when we'd get very good carry outs. So sad how times have changed. The whole area has gone downhill. It's been a few years since they only opened after 4pm. ☹️

Wow, no puedo expresar lo buena que fue nuestra comida, mi compañero y yo comimos el pollo con sal y pimienta y, si te encantan las cebollas, esta es para ti. La relación 50/50 de cebollas y pollo era impecable. ¡Muy buen gusto, espero que mi compañero todavía quiera besarme esta noche!

I tried several of the dishes here with friends and family and cannot say we enjoyed a single one. Every one of the dishes, including the soups, had little to no taste. I will not be going back here.

Please if you value your taste buds buy anything out of this Chinese take away, the food was awful. Still looking for the Black Bean that my chicken was supposed to come with , The Lemon chicken was also missing the lemon

In edible food, worst Chinese takeaway ever. Chef must be away on holiday? Spicy chips, disgusting. Nothing for a family of 5 was as discribed. They even forgot one of our order. Do not even bother complaining, they do not care!.

Very disappointed with this take away. Food is dry and lacking any sauce. Ordered spare ribs with bbq sayce. Got plain ribs and some greasy red runny sauce that tasted of nothing. Also chow mien had no sauce and the beef with mushroom and oyster sauce was like a half portion, again with little sauce although it this tasted nice. Would NOT recommend this take away and service was very slow even though there was just one other person in shop. Over priced as well.

This place clearly wins the prize for the worst Chinese I ve ever had in my life! Utterly awful, unbearably salty and cheap meats used in the noodles (ham instead of pork meat and spam instead actual beef). The price is quite high as well, clearly not reflected in the quality of the ingredients. Avoid

El pollo crujiente rallado es básicamente rebozado y marinado en TANTO SAL. Tuve que enjuagar el plato bajo el agua y solo entonces fue un poco más comestible.

Ordered fried rice chips and curry sauce with onions for collection. The rice was all mushy was not fried and a few boiled onions thrown on top with very little sauce. Phoned up to ask what order they had given me and was told fried rice chips curry sauce, the lady was disinterested! Won't be back stay clear of this place. Waste of money. A tub of mush was what i was given.
