Oriental Cafe in Fife

Placed an order online at 5.30pm on a Sunday night, but by about 6.30pm it hadn't been delivered so phoned them. Was told that they were really busy and the delivery driver had just left, yeh right. By 7.20pm it still hadn't arrived, so I phoned back, and was told it was still out for delivery!! Anyway I cancelled the order, if it was actually out for delivery it would have been sitting for almost an hour, why would I want hours old cold food. Complained online and after a week got a reply from them, that they would refund my order and if I texted the owner? for my next meal I'd get a free £25 order, how generous I thought. So on Friday night I texted the number they gave me with all my details, but no reply after an hour. So I re-texted to ask what was happening, but still no reply!! So stuff them, I drove 6 miles to Glenrothes and ordered some food from the next closest takeaway. Anyway I have no idea if this place still cooks food as I've never managed to get any lately. This is the only takeaway in the Ladybank area, which is what they seem to rely on, worst service I've ever had. Needless to say, I'll never be back.

Mum decided she wanted chinese so , as she lives in Ladybank , I went in personally & ordered. Waited about 15 mins for sweet & sour chicken balls , fried rice & banana fritters. There were 9 large chicken balls , lovely batter , crisp on the outside with a good chunk of chicken inside. Chicken moist. Fried rice & sauce were as you would expect. Had been apprehensive due to reading some reviews but have no complaints. Mum really enjoyed her 1st chinese meal in about 4 yrs.

Used to order from here all the time. Had a salt and pepper munch box a few weeks ago and it was tasteless. Thought maybe they were having a bad day. Had it again tonight and it was covered in this red powder which was spicy yet tasteless. Someone needs to go in and show them how to cook. Also the online order does not work. Won't be going back!!!

Having a £30+ Credit from a previous disastrous meal, finally plucked up the courage to use it, to be told - Under New Ownership! How typical! Decided to go ahead anyway, with the order, despite the Credit not being recognised, although a slight discount was eventually given. Big mistake! Some of the food in breadcrumbs was grossly over cooked (burned) and the general flavour of the meal in general was bland. Noodles were totally flavourless, despite me dowsing them in Soya Sauce. Extremely disappointing, especially when they’re taking up space in a small Village!!! AVOID!!!

We have used this takeaway for years.. must have been a change of owners/ chefs. Utterly disappointing. Ordered duck in oyster sauce got carrot and onion stew with duck fat and we bits of meat. Fried rice was dreadful smelt awful and was a clump of fat. Sweet and sour prawns were those frozen things you get in Lidl with the tail on in some pink jelly. Seriously don't risk it. Expecting a day in the loo tomorrow if not the Victoria hospital. Just gonna no!!! £30 in the bin. Save your self the waste.

Won't order from here again, the food is ok but takes far too long to arrive. The last twice that we have ordered we have been told it would be about an hour which is fine but it has ended up being much longer. Last night it was over 30 minutes later than that. This isn't the first time this has happened so definitely won't be back.

We ordered our food on the app, but it doesnt provide any notifications for when your food will be ready (or even if the order has been recieved) so we had to go down there to ask, and wait. They also claim to deliver within 4 miles but we live 2 miles away and delivery wasn't available.The place was busy with people collecting orders but no-one was wearing masks and they weren't being asked to!The food was ok.

My last delivery was of poor quality, but I thought I would give it another chance being in the same village...all i am going to say is that's me finished with this chinese. It used to be excellent now your lucky if it even meets ok regarding quality. Ordered delivery it took 45 minutes to arrive, I stay 5 minutes away! When the food arrived we were missing fried rice I rang up telling them this and instead of just saying somebody will be up soon with it the call taker and man were disputing this in the background ignoring the easy solution to this...I had to intervene and say just someone come up with the rice! 20 minutes later I was still waiting I phoned again..the calltaker said we are busy i replied but i have ordered paid and my food has been delivered. Another 10 minutes later it came..disgraceful! Who ever the manager is needs to get some training on how to treat customers.

Since lockdown we have treated ourselves to a takeaway each weekend. We started using this place and for the first few weeks it was decent food. The last two weekends were terrible. Last night one of our orders only had half as much in the container as usual. We also ordered salt and pepper chips. The chips that came were cold, soggy with hardly any flavour. Won't be using this place again.

For over two years we have travelled the 20 mins to get our take away.. but after the meal tonight we wont be back.. Chicken sweetcorn soup.. very bland and minus the sweetcorn.. Chicken curry bland and runny.. tatally tasteless.. Think they must have taken the phone of the hook tonight as been trying to phone to complain but always engaged.

Really disappointing takeaway from here last night. Sweet and sour chicken had batter so soggy we had to discard it and eat chicken on its own. Sauce was stodgy and bland. Kung Po chicken equally bland and very slimy. Have used it a few times and always liked it in the past but wouldn't go back. Most of it went in the bin.

Has been a bit hit or miss in the past but was really good tonight. Hopefully a sign of things to come

This is a decent Chinese (although the actual shop could use a lick of paint). Food is very good and everything tastes fresh

Moved to Fife from Dundee last year and yet to find a decent take away, but I must say that this is one of the worst so far. To say that the best part of the meal was the prawn crackers which are obviously bought in as they are like the ones from a supermarket is not acceptable. I had the chicken breast curry which just tasted of MSG with no spice to it and my wife had duck with black bean sauce(No green pepper) which was overcooked and had a thick layer of grease on top of the sauce. If you like Chinese, stay away from this place.

We often get take away from here and the food is good and popular with our family, Always found the service and delivery good also

Just want to warn people about a horrible experience we have just had with the Oriental Cafe in Ladybank. Ordered online, as we often do. Instead of the usual 45 min to 1 hour wait, we waited for 2 hours. Tried to phone several times after an hour and found the line to be permanently engaged. On arrival we asked that they waiver the delivery charge due to an extensive wait(their website advertises 45 mins). Incredibly aggressive driver left our door to seek advice. After a phone call to a number, we clearly do not have access to, he drove away without acknowledging us again. We were loyal customers and are disgusted by the poor service. Please take heed as clearly loyalty is a one way street.

Am really impressed with this Chinese takeaway. The food is really good and the staff are friendly. Highly recommend it.

Do not order for home delivery unless you want your takeaway cold and late. We phoned and were told delivery might be slow (an hour) which is fair enough on a Saturday night despite the fact we live 5 minutes away. An hour and 10 mins later we were told the delivery would leave in 5 minutes. An hour and 30 later no sign. An hour and 40 later cold food arrives. We are not joking we are 5 minutes away by car and this us the third time service has been so. poor. Avoid this takeaway

Order regularly, late only once with delivery which is to be expected on busy nights. Chinese food in Fife and east coast in general has been poor, this place is amongst the best. Friendly staff, good quality meat and decent ingredients.

Can't believe this place gets bad reviews. We moved to Ladybank in April and started using this place. We have never had a bad meal. In fact everytime our friends and family visit, they ask for Chinese as it's the best one they have had. We love it. Best and most consistent we have had. Amazing food. Thanks!

I last visited this takeaway 18 months ago so i thought it was time to give it another try.The interior looked really scruffy and has not been updated for a while. The food was decidedly very average with very little flavour which is kinda what it was like 18 months ago.I will stick to my homemade

Ordered a meal for my family and had to wait for an hour and 15 minutes.We ordered 2 beef noodle dishes, they were pretty awful both to salty and drowning in soy sauce. Other part.of the order for my son chips and cheese was inedible and had to be thrown out. First order with this take away and definitely the last.

Always late with deliveries - gave them one final chance but again 40 mins late - no apologies in fact became abusive and hung up!!! Totally unacceptable. I had ordered through just eat so could not cancel order. We shall never order from them again

Very high standard of food for carry out restaurant & its consistently good. Phoned to place order & was provided with the time for collecting meal. Fast, efficient & very good.

The food here was good. The portions were large and we felt it was good value. Plenty of options on the menu. They deliver locally and have a good online ordering facility. We collected and the staff were friendly, in an unusually large and grand take away area, with a piano lol. Would eat here again and recommend

Ignore all the bad reviews. We are really fussy about Chinese food and cannot fault our meal at Oriental Cafe. Ordered online to collect, girl who served us was so polite and it was really good value! We both had chicken dishes and the chicken was really good quality and there was loads of it! Amazing guys, we will be back :)

don't go here anymore thats all.they opened with a fair quality but that soon dropped off I won't go back.

I have used this cafe since it opened and the standard of food has declined somewhat over that time. At the start it was quite appetising but tonight's meal was, to put it mildly, disgusting - chicken and cashew nuts. The chicken was boiled, pale in colour and slimy to the palate, the veg consisted of small squares of hard carrot, onions ( they were ok) and some veg which again was diced and yellow in colour- like swede ! The whole meal was bland, no taste whatsoever. The boiled rice was 'stodgy' and cold. A couple of months ago I purchased sweet and sour chicken which was covered in an orange sauce - extremely tangy and quite overpowering which meant the actual content of the dish was hard to detect - the pineapple was non- existent.On my next visit I chose chicken curry - same orange sauce !Sorry, but this was my final purchase - I won't be back.

We occasionally stop off here for a takeaway.The food, in my opinion, is always very good. There is a large waiting area with seating and a television to watch while waiting for your order.They also provide a local delivery service for a small fee, where you can phone up and place an order.The counter staff appear to change quite regularly. It is usually young people on duty taking the orders and I feel their manner with the customers could be a lot better than it is.Be very careful when placing an order because if they get it wrong they will not accept liability and will always blame the customer! This has happened to us on at least two separate occasions now. Yes, they will amend the order but they will charge you for the separate order, as well as the order they got wrong!This is the reason for my average rating - if I was rating the food only I would give an excellent rating.
