First of a big thank you to the chef you pulled it of the food was amazing hot delicious and all came together for 16 very happy people for my wife's 70 th birthday . Chef you should be really proud of what you achieved. you staff were brilliant and pleasant and helpful and yes we will be back . Anyone reading this just remember these people work very hard at what they do so be respectful good manors cost nothing .

Lovely food and atmosphere - both are warm and homely. Food was great, full of flavour without relying on salt or other additives etc, felt very wholesome and actually very healthy considering we were eating out. Service was wonderful, all staff very friendly and receptive. Enjoyed the shots of amaretto too. Thank you for the lovely experience. Will definitely be coming back!

Bitterly disappointed - discriminative We went for my birthday meal. We specified on the booking we were bringing a wheelchair and yet upon arrival this was clearly a shock and an effort for waiter Andri. He was huffing and puffing whilst bringing out the ramp to let the wheelchair in and also insisted we moved tables for no apparent reason. He also made comments about how big and an inconvenience he thought the chair was. Even after all of this, I thought it may have been an honest mistake so I tried to calmly speak to bring his behaviour to his attention and how it may accidentally have come across discriminative. He was not apologetic at all, he spoke angrily to me and told me it was a business suggesting this was not an accident. Not only that but he also wasn’t an attentive waiter, he got orders wrong and clearly couldn’t count as brought 3 glasses of water instead of 4. Disgusted.

Went here on a Friday, took our booking with very little nice , we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming waitress who showed us to our table. Not long after they took our order for food and drinks. The drinks arrived promptly followed shortly after that by our starter of bruschetta, calamari and garlic bread, all beautifully cooked and presented. Then for mains we had gyros and a big beautiful seafood platter. Everything cooked to perfection. Amazing food, great service. Would highly recommend

Had a lovely meal at Opa's. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Don't go there if you expect fast food...it does take a little longer to get served and you need to factor that in but we'll worth it.. Simply relax, enjoy your evening with lovely food and drinks

Having been to opa on numerous occasions, I chose this place to have my mams small gathering of family to celebrate her 80th birthday. As always food and hospitality was absolutely amazing. There is no better place to eat in North shields in my opinion, and nowhere else around where you can feel like you are in Greece ❤️

Second visit here and we all had delicious food staff were attentive and polite. Food was excellent some of the starters were like a main course. Lots of selection on menu. Excellent meal

Visit every time we're on holiday at Whitley Bay, only a short hop to North Shields. If you like Greek food, this is the place to eat.

Best Greek food in North Tyneside, as well as amazing Sunday dinners for 11 / 12 quid. Food is fresh and delicious - and the portions are nice and big! Lovely staff and great service. Can't really recommend enough.

We had the opportunity at the last minute to eat some amazing food here at OPA. My husband had lamb shank that just looked and tasted he said amazing. I had the beef which was delicious, we had 3 courses and was amazing value for money. We will definitely be back and the staff were amazing really friendly thank you.

I got a takeaway Sunday lunch but l was very disappointed with the food mash potato was not good it was slope and the gravy as well l would not go back it was the first time and he last so disappointed

Lovely little restaurant which serve’s beautiful fresh food… and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend going.

Really disappointed by the poor service and attitude of the woman who was serving tonight. Very abrupt and impatient. You could tell she was in a hurry to go home we weren't even asked if would like coffee's or dessert there were 13 of us and she even left before we did and we left at 9. 30ish.Would have been finished earlier had we not waited well over an hour for our mains. There is usually a lovely softly spoken Greek lady taking orders and serving who is the epitome of politeness the person serving tonight could take some lessons from her.

Fantastic food and absolutely huge portions great value for money

Went on a Saturday night (booked in advance), restaurant was busy, atmosphere nice, staff very friendly and helpful when ordering drinks and food. Excellent food, portions are huge, we were a table of 4 went for starters and mains, really struggled to finish the food there was so much, next time we'll just get 2 starters to share rather than one each. Prices are good and the quality of the food is great, all served by friendly efficient staff. Will be back and if your after great food in nice surrounding served by efficient, helpful staff I would definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed.

I celebrated my birthday here today. We had their lovely crusty bread and butter, butter beans in tomato sauce prawn cocktail chicken gyros bread salad tzatziki and chips, all delicious but best of all Greek meatballs in tomato sauce. Brilliant staff and fabulous food. Huge portions reasonable bill. Couldn’t be happier

Very tasty food, attentive ( but not over the top) service. Place was full as we went in, gently emptied by 9 ( I think). Went in very hungry, couldn't finish sll main after a starter - big portions. Topped and tailed with beer next door it made for an awesome evening.

We had a late mother's day meal with kids and my wife, all I can say is the food was outstanding the staff very attentive and friendly, would recommend to everyone. Will definitely going back the Greek platter is a must

We Heard a lot about this place and popped in without a booking as we were in the area and thinking it was a Greek restaurant. In fact it's a Greek Italian!!!! There have to be over 50-60 items on the menu but only a handful of tables so there is no way at all these dishes be cooked fresh... hence the ping from the kitchen. The food is okay but it definitely did not taste freshly made. My Moussaka lacked meat and tasted weird....the stifado was decent... Try for yourselves but it's not a place that I will return to

We love Opa so it made sense to visit for our son’s 19th birthday - and it didn’t disappoint! We had the sharing platter for two whilst our son had two starters as mains. Food was amazing as usual and brilliant service with a little birthday surprise for our son. Can’t wait to go back!

Well what a find this was an it's an absolute gem. The food was first class all cooked fresh and served by friendly attentive staff. We finished the meal with a coffee and complimentary liqueur which was a very nice touch. Thank you see you next time.

My partner and I went to OPA tonight for their special Greek Night. I thought we'd have to be rolled out of their after eating so much delicious food! Reminder to self - don't eat for the entire day before the next visit. The so called "mini" maze starter was a huge portion. Could easily have fed 2 people. The lamb kleftico melted off the bone, it was so tender. Ice cream and baklava for dessert. They left plenty of time between each course to enjoy the live music and dancing. The Greeks certainly know how to have a good time! Or only regret was having to leave early (9.30pm) as tomorrow is a work day. We'll definitely be back.

We ate dinner here on a Saturday night. The service and food was all top notch! Bread and butter was brought to the table. Had calamari for appetizer. So fresh and tender. Served hot and cooked perfectly. For dinner I had Salmon with orange sauce and a side salad. Husband had Pasta with sausage and wild mushrooms. Both mains were cooked with skill and we enjoyed our meal.

Jill and I (Jo) love this restaurant. They kept us going with Sunday lunches delivered during the height of lockdown. When we have friends or grandkids or whoever (!) staying then this is where we come. The service is very good, the food is excellent and it is not unreasonably expensive. They serve a variety of well cooked Greek and Italian food (OK so they also serve a 'Sunday lunch' and I'm sure its delicious but come on people why would you?!) so you will not be disappointed. Have I mentioned baklava?!

A hidden gem in North Shields! Lovely restaurant with amazing food. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and so friendly. Atmosphere was perfect for our occasion which was a girls night out of the more reserved variety but this lovely place would cater for whatever the occasion 😊

Well this little gem in North Shields is a family-ran authentic Greek restaurant - with both a Greek & Italian menu. The food takes us back to when we were in Greece on holiday. The staff are so courteous and exemplary in assisting with your order. You’re asked if you would like to taste the wine first before deciding to accept the whole bottle and the waitress was able to confirm our concerns about food allergens. The atmosphere was brilliant, traditional Greek music playing in the background and the restaurant decor makes you feel like you’re back in Greece. They have Mythos and Metaxa at the bar, the Chicken Gyros Portion was cooked beautifully and more than I could finish. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone - but pre-book as they get very busy.

We have just visited Opa again for a family lunch and have to say the Sunday roast dinners were the best we've had. The service was first class and the warm welcome was second to none as always. We would highly reccomend this authentic family run restaurant.

Give this place one more try, prior to the Flu pandemic it was full of Stepford wives and there blokes.....stary people that just sit there like Zombies and don't even speak to each other. Once again service at the bar was dished out by grumpy...
