Oor Wullie's Braw Fish & Chips in Aberdeen City

Wanted a nice fish n chip supper instead got half raw fish batter was very disappointed felt like the order was rushed won’t be ordering here again

Absolutely shocking, smallest curry sauce portion ever n for £2.60 u should be ashamed, my husband asked for a macaroni pie and chips, jeez what did u use, one potato!!! The portion of chips is an utter disgrace, normally my husband and I share the chips but not this time, hardly enough for one never mind sharing!!! Im not greedy by any means but the audacity to practically rip off your customers means we will never set foot in ur chipper again!!! Utter greed especially when a chipper is a treat, obviously a chance for u to take the p i s s

Had no service from this place today. I was told rather rudely to go round the corner to place my order; when I did, all four women staff just ignored me and kept talking amongst themselves. I just left and went to the Ashvale where I got excellent service.

Awful just avoid it. 1st and last time we'll be there. Fish was so dry it was almost powdered.

Great wee chipper, always stop by every week or so for a jumbo sausage supper on the way to work in the evenings.. right fine!

We regularly buy our fish and chips from here. The food is generally very good. The place is let down by a chaotic system after placing your order. A lot of waiting is required and today (not the first time) I got home with the family food only to find that the assistant had once again forgotten something from the order. Imagine the disappointment of not getting what we had paid for and someone not getting their food especially after the long wait! No receipts provided so I don't see how I can get my money back on the missing item. We will now go elsewhere for our fish and chips; a chippy that is efficient and better organized.

Usually brilliant, but this time the readed fish was flat, burnt, and very small. Hope this was one-off, disappointing.

The food was good but one of the workers was extremely rude. The little old lady. When I asked if I could place an order she blankly looked at me as tho she was deaf and I had to get someone else to take my order. Horrible experience.

Owner decided to have delivery app customers collect their food from “round the back”, conveniently, where the bins are. I refused to stand by the trash with my delivery bag and decided this delivery and this shop “wasn’t a good fit for my standards” and cancelled the order. When I left, the owner comes running up to my car hammering on the window with his fist as I was already driving away. A rather silly move if you ask me. When I stopped he began yelling at me for which I said “I no longer wish to deliver the food”. Had to call the police. See the owners response below? It’s a lie. Would you buy chips and feed yourself or your family from a guy who made a mistake, looked foolish and then lied to cover up his inappropriate actions? The same guy who wanted delivery drivers to wait by the bins for delivery orders?…. I’ll let you ponder that one over while I leave.

Very smallportions of chips in your supper. Bit disappointing. Don't like the oil it's cooked in but that's just my taste. Others seem to love it.

Dried up scragg ends of chips. Fish tastes like it had been fried days ago. Much better places to go in Aberdeen. Give this place a miss

Very disappointed. Arrived at about 7pm and ordered a standard haddock supper. Service was quick. Too quick. The fish was pre-cooked and stored in a box in a side room. Chips and I was out. I get home and the fish is overcooked and the batter is a grey and not cooked where it sits on the fish. Shal not be returning. Shame.

Rubbish food. Should be embarrassed. Obviously customer service and cooking experience is not required. Bunch of muppets.

Walked in and there was one person working on a Friday night. I heard one person ask how long his meal would be because he's been waiting 30 minutes for chips... The place looks good from the outside though.

Good quality food but disappointing to wait such a long time for a portion of chips that were extremely expensive. 4 members of staff on duty but nobody willing to satisfy customers not waiting for other foods to be cooked. I understand waiting in line but why wait for someone’s fish to be cooked if I only want chips. All 4 staff wandering around I interested and all not wearing hair nets which caused concern for extras in my food.

Prices up, portions down. Shocking amount of chips for a £7 macaroni pie supper. Family of four, all our suppers had this little chips.

Just to add they offer gluten and dairy free options. The gluten free batter is delicious and is fried in its own fryer, chips only in the chip fryer. One of my favourite chip shops in Aberdeen just don't do a deliveroo as ends up cold, well mine did as they got lost. Always cooked well with great quality ingredients and piping hot when you buy direct.

We have visited Oor Wullies many times before and always recommend it to everyone I know but not anymore. We had family staying from London last week and ordered online 5 Fish Suppers, A Steak pie Supper and a Sausage supper. All of which were horrible- all dried out and tasteless. Considering what this cost us we would have expected better. Maybe it was a blip or something but it will put us off going again.

Had some tattie fritters mmm not sure but bland needs some seasoning.

Best fish and chips I've had in years

Ordered and paid for my food online for collection. Took my 14 year old son with me in the car to collect and asked him to nip and pick up the order. This is quite a big deal for him, as he has anxiety about speaking to people especially with other people around. He asked if he could pick up an order placed online. The woman behind the counter was so rude to him, she told him he had to reorder his food and would have to pay for it. He explained it had been placed online and she was horrible and shouted at him, which completely embarrassed him and he left the shop in tears. I had to go in myself and the woman was once again so rude to me too. The food was okay but the customer service was beyond disgusting. For a grown woman to make a boy cry when he's polite and well mannered and just asking to pick up food for his family is unbelieveable!!!

It was good. I had never been there before but my grandson and I both enjoyed our haddock suppers which we ate on the tables/chairs provided outside.

I bought Haddock and chips , had a bit of a wait but the shop was really busy so only expected. Love the name love the look of the place and all the oor Wullie cartoons posters and all the t shirts etc that they sell. Food was that good I am going back tonight ! Staff friendly enough remember they are young and busy. Our Wullie is Scottish and why not name a chippy after him!

Ridiculously overpriced for the portion sizes you receive although food is of a reasonable quality for a chipper. Also, not sure what oor Wullie, a cartoon character from Dundee, has to do with Aberdeen. Clearly we are paying extra for the food to cover their ridiculous and meaningless branding.

This is a very smart, funky Oor Willie's themed fish shop. Immaculately clean with great service and GREAT food.

I always order my take away fish and chips from here. Normally they’re lovely. Nice and crispy fish and lovely chips. Can be quite busy if you’re buying in person but it’s worth some wait.

I’m not new in delivery , i’m going to pick up one order with Deliveroo , i’m going into the restaurant, i’m waiting about 5 minutes after one lady is coming and is SEND ME BACK TO THE RESTAURANT WHERE THE BIN IS TO WAITING FOR THE ORDER . It’s impossible to do THAT WHEN IS RAINING, I got like offence this because I ask them “ HOW LONG I NEED TO WAINTING ?! “ and she is answering “ go round back “ , I ask again and she again answers “ go round back “ , i’m sorry , I’m not look like a idiot , I make money with you , you make money with me. The restaurant was like full . This is not normal . BIG DISLIKE

Great food and service is super kind. It just takes a while to get your food but I guess that’s normal but really good. Only take out.

Food is fine, staff are extremely rude. (Edit) I have had to come back to edit this after what I saw, the women behind the bar, who clearly hates being there was rude so everyone especially the couple in front of me who were clearly unfamiliar with the menu, offered no assistance and then spoke to them like dirt on her shoe when they asked to change from standard fish suppers to jumbo before they had even paid. Then after handing their food to them like it was a dirt filled nappy she then proceeded to talk about them to other customers after they had left. Truly despicable. If you hate it so much RETIRE, god knows you’re of age. Won’t be back unless there’s a change of staff.

Six people working, all clueless, waited 20 minutes and then had to inquire what happened to my order. Got palmed off with an obvious pre-order that had been lying in the hot plate for some time. Poor poor quality, greasy and cold. Lucky business busy because of geoegraphical situation, avoid at all cost !!!

Look, I live about a half mile from Oor Wullies and we always get our food delivered. Right now, as I write, it is 18:31. I ordered the food online at exactly 17:00. The food still hasn't arrived after one and a half hours! Won't be using this awful service ever again!! Absolute garbage!!

Paid a visit while visiting relatives. Family loved the Sausage and Fish Cakes. Lovely chip shop setting.

Over priced for the tiny (standard) haddock and lack of chips. Service with a smile would have been nice as well. Won't be back as very disappointed.

Over priced, over rated and underwhelming. Plus, what on earth has Oor Wullie got to do with Aberdeen? Absolutely Hee Haw. He is a Dundee character from the Stobswell area of the city. This is an overpriced gimmick of a chipper charging over the odds for branded packaging that has nothing to do with the city. Just give us decent produce, wrapped in paper and at a decent price please.

Came here on my way home to Falkirk as they serve vegan options. The first time I have had a white pudding supper in many years. The shop is decorated in oor wullie theme which is quite cool. I will definitely be back the next time I am up north.

Delivery was missing a whole order phoned the shop to be advised 2 fish suppers had left the shop so just eat delivery drivers must be stealing peoples food.

Food was alright but the service and general atmosphere was pretty poor. The senior staff member was less than polite to customers and down right rude to the just eat driver and the junior staff during the short time I was in there waiting to be served.

Saturday night delivery. Macaroni pie suppers were very nice. Really good onion rings, not dripping in oil like some I’ve had. Steak pie supper good too. Will definitely order from here again 👍

Loved my black pudding supper but why are chips white?

Had a haggis supper from here tonight. Must have been a child's haggis. Never ever thought I'd experience a haggis with no taste!

We been in this shop often over the years and we love to stop by and get fish and chips..today we bought supper and the staff was very awful after I asked for fresh cook fish., one of the staff started to give me an attitude so I asked her if she's not happy with her job? And she started to become more mean..I asked for the manager which give us an attitude! Is it too much to ask for a fresh cook fish and add more salt and vinegar? Seems like your begging and not paying for what your asking for... Really bad service! I would not recommend this chips shop it will just change your mood! Important to add that it was good service under previous management but since change of manager and some new staff [not all] the service is very disrespectful and rude !!, Frankley working with the public is not for everyone so perhaps the fish fryer / manager should find another line of work as there attitude stinks .

I only use 2 chip shops and this is one of them, usually go when it's quiet on an afternoon, been several times now and it's always good even on Mondays and Thursdays! and staff have been friendly each time.

Great food and service. Called in on very busy Saturday evening. Kitchen working well to get food out, with minimal wait. Quality excellent, portion sizes good.

You took my order on deliveroo and then closed, leaving the rider hanging outside the store, and letting me wait over an hour before finding out that you had closed. Thankfully I could get a refund from deliveroo. Next time either fulfill the order, or don't take it at all.

Phoned up for take away and was told 20 minutes. Went in after 20 minutes and paid for my take away. Then they started actually making it.... Over an hour in the end to get very basic fish and chips meal.

Don't bother ordering take away. They only start making it when you've already showed up to collect!!! Altogether a hour to get some fish and chips. Absolute joke of a chip shop. No warning about the surprise wait, no apologies.

Update 11/11/22 This place has certainly let standards slip massively!!! The Jumbo Haddock - The only thing that's Jumbo is the vast amount of batter around a small piece of fish and they charge £11 for it! Get the normal sized one as it's probably the same fish size with less batter. The red pudding was tasty enough but was well over cooked to the extent I genuinely thought it was a black pudding they'd given me ie before cutting the pudding looked black not red The chips were either cut from very small potatoes or were the dregs from the bottom of the chip hopper very few were eaten. If there were a value for money score they'd be into minus points The best fish and chips in the Aberdeen area without a doubt, thank you and well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Pretty good fish and chips. Reasonable parking, depending on time. I like the Oor Wullie theme. For those of us of a certain age seeing the cartoons on the takeaway box may well remind you of the Sunday Post's Dudley D Watkins cartoons of the early 1960s.

Ordered stood fir over 20 minutes called up and my order wasn’t there will not be back would t recommend poor service and overall food over priced and just not nice

Been dying to use this one since it opened; being a Hass Chipper Fan, I eventually did. The Shop is Braw, with all the classic Oor Wullie Stuff inside and out; sadly, the Service lacked. Advice, don't collect on a Saturday evening as they are too busy to ensure you get ahead of the Queue. I ordered a Collection for 19:15 and arrived at 19:12; perfect timing as I thought my order would be in the process of being done.....No No, I think you go to the end of the Queue and I had a wait until 19:40. I went to cancel and ask for a refund as I felt that a 25-minute delay on a collection for 19:15 was a Wee bit long., luckily my order was shouted out, and I left at 19:42................an apology would've be Nice. Ah, well, stick with what you know best; Hass am on my way........ Oh, the Fish was fine, not brilliant but not bad, the Chips were perfect.......

Expensive and rude, the delivery driver dumped the order at my door, won't order again.

Just had possibly the worst fish supper ever from oor Willie’s. Fish was tiny and dry and the chips could only be described as shrapnel. And all for £8.80!

Been going here for a while now but the last twice it’s been cold and hard chips and pie was not fresh seemed to be in the hot cabinet for a while to be honest the dogs got the chips as they where disgusting the haggis was a bit under cooked so the dogs got the hole order so that’s them done will now not be going back DISGUSTING is the word . would really like words with the owners as if this is the service you get you will not keep your customers

Had a jumbo fish supper. Excellent, chips are really good and the fish and batter were too.

Lovely vegan white pudding moist and tasty vegan black pudding was barely edible dry and crumbly and overall a salty mess. Chips were the worst I’ve had from a chipper. Won’t be back.

I love Oor Wullie's, it's been a family favourite for years and I was worried the change from Mr Chips would mean a change in quality as it often does, but I'm delighted it's still as good as I remember. Their food is cooked to perfection. Their chips are always freshly cooked and their batter is just wow, so light and crispy. Never disappointed. Best chipper in Scotland.

The staff normally very nice and never jumped other customer when it’s busy. I’ve come to this place many times and also order via online. But tonight I had to wait for about 30 minutes for chips cheese and gravy ( without informing me it will takes that long, normally they informed you ) and other customer after me got his first ( Seems he knows one of the lady who is working there ) It’s doesn’t seem right the service tonight.

Pretty decent. Chips were well cooked which seems to be a lost art in modern chippies. Only complaint is that you can't get sauce on your supper - they sell sauce though :(

Good evening I was very disappointed tonight. I went in before 8.30pm and ordered 2 red pudding suppers and I waited alot longer than normal. When I got home which was just across the road on Cranford Road .The chips were terrible I actually threw most of them in the bin they also got my order wrong one of the red puddings was a haggis . Not good sorry

Was quite surprised to find such an interesting chipshop. The theme certainly wasn't lost on me. Just taken aback that a Dundee Cartoon Character was the theme. Bit ming you he is a national treasure. Food was fresh hot and delicious. Better priced too than a competitor. I thoroughly recommend but take a camera fir selfie with Oor Willie

Just had the worst haddock supper. The fish looked and tasted like it had been sitting for hours. Was very dry and tail area was inedible. When paying the price for a fish it should be better!! Will not go back.

Having a food allergy I asked if the batter contained milk, first response was “it has white fish”. Clearly staff need education on food intolerances.

Mostly excellent food but occasionally get a pretty horrible meal. Very infrequently that is. When very busy, the chips tend to come out the fryer a bit early.

A very good fish & chips place here in Aberdeen. The order is made fresh, the fish was very less greasy, super crispy and tasted amazing. The fries were a bit dry and need some improvement in my opinion. Overall, a good place. Would try again!

Good, clean value for money, but the waiting window-seats are pretty cold on your bum. Service is ok, meals are ok too.

Seem more concerned about the online orders, waited 20 minutes for chips cheese gravy and fillets then to top it off the server rested all the chicken fillets on the fryer counter before putting it in the box letting them sit in the dried in grease (counter wasnt clean)
