It's not worth the wait. Order tea and Posh fish finger sandwich for 2 . Waited over 28 mins for the sandwiches to arrive, and it was a disappointment. It was not even busy.

Had cold meat's and cheese's which were nice enough on their own but combined together made a delicious sandwich. Coffee was good and welcoming service to.

I used to live in Littleborough and came here with my best friend every week for a walk and a coffee for years. I came again with my children recently, I have to say the service was below average. Staff same very busy but there were only a few people, we asked what the cakes were on display, they did not even know the cakes’ name. My son ended up ordered a vegan cake, which was not a massive problem, but we would have ordered a non vegan one. It took very long for a hot chocolate to come to our table, after my son finished the cake. It is not a cheap place, the location and deco are very nice. It’s a shame the service was poor. I will not return after coming here for years.

The food was lovely, and beautifully presented, but the service was very, very slow. It took half an hour for them to bring slices of a cake which was already on the counter, ready sliced. All they had to do was transfer a couple of slices from the big plate to small plates. Lovely food in a nice location, and plenty of choice. It'd be a great place if they weren't so slow.

Was really looking forward to trying here and it was absolutely shocking! Staff weren’t at all interested, got 2 of our orders wrong, massively overpriced! We had toasties which were dry and forgotten cheese. I wish I could give it 0 because it was that bad! Also waited around 40 mins for it to be wrong! I’m not one to complain but the staff were so uninterested! Wouldn’t recommend at all

We visit Olive and Pickle on an almost weekly basis and absolutely love this restaurant. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing both the breakfasts and lunches, I especially recommend the homemade cheese and onion pie. Olive and Pickle is also dog friendly and our Springer Bramble enjoys the sausage she gets on every visit.

Shocking. Only had an hour's ticket on car park, thought would be enough. Half hour just waiting for drinks. Out of five ordered, three cups and a teapot returned because dirty. Three sets of cutlery returned as had egg on them, can't comment on food as I left as had enough . Came home to make my own and assume I will still eat before the others I left on there. If only place left open, won't be returning

We had a lovely lunch. Friendly staff and lovely food. We had chicken and chips and a vegetarian breakfast, followed by an excellent piece of home-made carrot cake. I would recommend it. The toilets were nice and clean

Looked nice and inviting and that where it ends. Got a table ok, eventually came and took drinks order, we requested if we could order food and the waitress said, your drinks are ordered and on their way we will take food order later. We drank our drinks and waited 15mins before they came to take our order. Everything we asked for were not available so we reluctantly picked something we didn't really want. Although there were plenty of staff around the food took ages to come. From a party of 5, one meal was OK the rest were horrible. A total waste of time and money. One good thing, the toilets were nice.

Our lunch went from bad to worse. Really disappointed with every aspect of our lunch here. The only part of the order which was correct was the Diet Coke I ordered. 20 minute wait for drinks. A further 15 minute wait for a straw. 45 minute wait for soup and a jacket potato. Had to change our order multiple times as they had ‘ran out’ of pretty much everything. The order was wrong when it arrived in any event, the waitress had not a clue how to take an order and had no idea what they had in or for specials. It wasn’t even busy, and with lots of waitresses etc working I can’t understand how it was so very poorly run.

Ordered two coffee’s out side. Cafe was very quiet had a long wait .one coffe arrived hot the ther one was Luke warm. No sugar was offered and coffee was spilt in the cup. Very Expencive £7.00 wil not return

Longest wait ever to get served in what was a clearly quiet cafe. Over half an hour for coffee. Over an hour wait for toasties and chips. Not good enough

Had a lovely lunch here with my friend, both had different meals and both really enjoyed them. Lovely and warm spotlessly clean staff nice and helpful.

Wow….I hadn’t been to this place for 25 years and was amazed to find this bistro. Loved it….as did a lot of other people. Get here early time to get a table for breakfast ( they open at 0830) ……eggs Benedict to die for.

Lovely cafe. Went with friends after they had been on paddle boards. Brrr. A welcome retreat for a cuppa and a big piece of vegan cake. Scones for the boarders. Friendly service and we all left happy

We visited the olive and pickle this morning as a quick breakfast stop, we waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken. Coffee syrups advertised on the menu was not available and the orange juice was very watered down. Following this, there was a 50 minute wait for 2 breakfasts! The cutlery provided was dirty (as was the tables next to us who also complained). When the breakfast arrived, the beans, egg, tomato’s and mushrooms were all cold. Nobody came to check on how everything was, and when we came to pay the bill, again we was not asked if everything was okay. Very poor service and cold food, for the extortionate price of £30. Very disappointing and will not be returning.

Awful cafe and dreadful customer service. I had to ask twice to get served and no one came to take my order at all. It took them 20mins to bring me a menu. The cafe wasnt even busy. Dont bother with this place.

Really nice place and the staff are brilliant. Food is really tasty but portions could be bigger for the price.

Came here for a birthday brunch. Waited 40 minutes for our order to be taken. Found it a little bizarre to have to ask and wait for cutlery after the food was brought to us. On a positive, the full breakfast was cooked perfectly, delicous and good value for money. My friend had ordered an omelette which was cooked well but very expensive when compared to the breakfast! Especially when every extra item is £1 each! Overall, good food but service could do with an improvement.

We've been several times over the years but I promised I would put a review on after chatting to the owner. We went for breakfast last Saturday morning and as always fabulous. Top quality produce, cooked and served well. I also have to mention the toilets as they were fabulous. We have just travelled around the UK for 10 weeks and have experienced some dia toilet facilities. It's a shame not more people think about their facilities, but I for one appreciate them. Good morning and I wrote this review with a smile on my face. I used to be a regular visitor at this lovely cafe for breakfast and I stopped coming for a little while because it appeared to go quite down hill but on the sunny morning of 19th August I decided to give it another try! Well what a pleasant surprise I had the service was excellent from start to finish, I was very pleasantly greeted by an older member of staff by her quite infectious smile and her bubbly personality really made me smile, I’ve never seen this member of staff before but what an asset to your business she really is, I sat and watched for a while as I had my coffee (which wasn’t up to scratch I have to say but overall didn’t spoil my visit as everything else was was spot on) she seemed to have your younger members of staff quite in check in a kind and caring manner, what was once chaos in such a beauty spot seems to now be a place of tranquil for a solo breakfast. Well done Olive&Pickle keep up the good work and I shall be back very soon. Joan

Just had a just eat takeaway afternoon tea delivered. Mini burgers, pieces of cheese and onion pie,sandwiches,a drink and selection of cakes. Nice for mother’s day

After wanting to visit many times over the years due to the cute decor and rave reviews, I finally ordered during lockdown. The first time I collected three meals, a young lad was cooking, the fries were lovely, really nice, as was the chicken and pizza. The second time, I had it delivered, the chips had far too much salt, tasted terrible and the pizza was underdone and lacked flavour. If they were busy they should have simply stopped taking orders rather than given a reduced service. I also notice a lack of care for the appearance on the outside recently with illuminated pizza sign, many sandwich boards, a large bin and cars blocking the way. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come when they reopen as I still would like to experience sitting inside for my meals in the future in a nice place.

Tried homemade pizza to walk around the lake . Not the best I've had, definitely better in the area. Been here before lockdown and breakfast was okay. Perhaps the lack of quality was due to takeaway / fast service. Would possibly try again once opened inside and less rushed.

Called in for a take away after walking round the lake. My Husband had a bratwurst on a roll with onions and mustard and I had a bacon butty. I asked for well done bacon and it was perfect, nice light bread roll and good crispy bacon. Called in the day before and had cheese on toast which was lovely and I had a coffee with Baileys and my Husband had a Baileys hot chocolate. Hit the spot and warmed us up after a freezing lakeside walk.

Hot chocolate heaven!! Oh my I must say these are the best hot chocolates I have ever encountered and I am a connoisseur of them ha ha Definitely try! Great customer service too

Ordered a take away on just eat, was delivered quickly & with a smile. Food was amazing, had a burger and a wrap and salt and pepper chips. All warm and delicious. Would recommend. Have also visited the shop and had black forrest hot chocolate which was amazing.

Went to the olive and pickle today for the first time since the re-vamp and WOW the food is 100% better and my little girl loved the milkshakes. What was even better was the staff and how they dealt with the COVID-19 regs That’s how to do hospitality in these times just hope boris reads this

I visited the cafe over the weekend and I’m not going to lie I was quite shocked when I saw how busy it was. No social distancing, no one way systems and the tables were so close together! Me and my partner were sat at a table at the end of the bar which the waitresses had to get past to bring food back and forth from the kitchen and I just felt I was in the way. My chair and coat kept getting knocked and I felt really uncomfortable as the social distancing was really poor. I also ordered a breakfast wrap which wasn’t great and I barely touched it. I’ve been to the cafe on two other occasions and I thought it was lovely! So disappointed.

Visited here for a late breakfast. Sat down fairly quick on arrival. We didnt feel wanted. Front of house staff very cold. We ordered our food and drinks. While waiting, the chef glared out of the kitchen window and started shouting at a member of staff. This left us a bit uneasy and feeling quite awkward.Food and drinks arrived quickly and was great. When asking for the bill the waitress came and slammed down our bill (she must of been embarrassed after being shouted at) All in all mixed feelings about this place. Not sure if we will try again.

I am very sorry to say that, having visited on Monday afternoon for lunch with my husband, service was exceptionally poor, we were given drinks, which were for the table next to us, it was pure coincidence that our orders would have been identical, which left us feeling very very awkward. my food order was incorrect when it arrived, and the buttermilk chicken, far from being juicy and tender, could have put a shop window through. We did raise this issue with who I.presume is the deputy manager, but we were still talking to her as she walked away, very very rude indeed. When I told her about the chicken she brazenly said I will deduct it from your bill, no apology, no intent to make a customer feel wanted or comfortable, to the point that we will not be returning. A shame as the young lady who I believe owns the place is a very nice person.

Called for lunch and sat outside with my grandson. Prompt ordering but took ages to come which is understandable in current climate. I ordered a sausage barm which arrived as a bacon and sausage, was tasty though. I asked for brown sauce which never came so I asked a second waitress some 15mins later ... again it never came . Neither did my cup of tea until I’d pretty much finished my lunch. Staff were visibly avoiding contact with people and eventually the couple on table next to me left without ordering. It’s a shame because the food we had was fine but tainted by poor customer service

Very disappointed. Our first visit in a while and ordered the pancakes with bacon. When served it came with streaky bacon, I pointed this out but the waitress wasn’t interested. So I paid £8.50 for pancakes and syrup! Still great quality food, but let down with poor customer service.

Clean modern interior, pleasant staff. My companions brunch was very nice, I chose the wrong thing, which was the pancakes. Nothing wrong with them but from a packet.

Stopped here today for a late lunch with a friend. Sat outside and waited quite a long time for service. In the end I had to go and ask for a menu, after another 10 mins or so went back inside to ask for someone to take our order. Once ordered, food and drinks were served in a timely fashion by a pleasant waitress. Cheese and Onion pie was nice, warm and tasty. Friend ordered beef sandwich which she throughly enjoyed. Both meals were presented well.Would recommend as a place to drop into for a light bite.

Social catchup with a friend, saw this on TripAdvisor and thought would try.We sat outside and was served quickly and efficiently by the staff and noticed that tables were being cleaned in between customers. Coffee and a club sandwich was good , used the facilities and looked nice inside with a good atmosphere. Everything was nice, clean and controlled even though they were busy.Nice place, thank you.

The home cooked food here is absolutely lovely and always is, every time i have been in. The staff are friendly and cheerful. Overall a really nice place to sit down and have a drink or something to eat.

So I was very excited to be going into here last week on arrival we had 2 kids our temp was taken and we was taken to our table the waitress gave us a high chair and put it where we thought must have been the best place therefore left it there however a few minutes later another waitress seemed like a manager came and very aggressively moved it out the way..every time my friend would ask them something we would be ignored by the waitress, my friend has come from UAE and was shocked at thier behaviour she even said to me where not sitting here for free why are they so horrible. Then her child was banging the reserved sign on the table so she took and ask the manager walking past to take it to which she said IM BUSY and walked off at this point I said give me the sign I'm from the UK an will tell her exactly how she should behaviour however on her way back she took the sign no smiles nothing..a few minutes later the waitress came to take our order and kept giving her baby dirty looks as he was babbling and messing with the tanker number sign and actually said to my friend can you ask him to stop the table will get ruined never in my whole life have I experienced a resturant worried about thier fable being ruined by a table number sign.1 of the waitress we was served seemed tired buy friendly she told my friend not to worry about the food her child dropped on the floor which was nice however normal for every resturant.Already parents feel pressure to look after thier children and the dirty looks and behaviour just made her never want to go back there again.However the food was lovely the desserts were so fresh and delicious the toilets wer nice and clean and so was the resturant itself in would give that a 5 star but the staff attitude was a big let down so unwelcoming I would probably go back with differnt friends but if the behaviour continues if there a kids with me I will be putting in a complaint in.

Great food (the scampi and lemon cake I had was really nice) Friendly staff and lovely decor-cute :-) It was very busy around about 2.30 pm but quietened down a bit after this-so if anxious about being in a busy cafe space as tables are quite close together (which I understand as is a cafe space)try to go a bit later :-) They took your temperature as came in, took details for track and trace and sanitized all tables, hand santizer available on tables so all felt safe. They have a mobile van outside so can also get things from there and seating area outside at front (no covering so only good when weather is reasonable) I am pleased that still open after lockdown as always liked it. Can't wait till able to extend menu once feasible to do so :-)

Heard very good things about this place but went for lunch today and not happy that there seemed to be no social distancing. It was very busy and tables very close together. Waited ages to be served and every time we tried to get waitresses attention we were ignored. The food was quite nice but was very surprised to be charged 75p for tiny pot of jam with our scones which tasted a bit stale.

Been here on many occasions the food is lovely, well presented and not over facing! Prices good and menu choice is just right!Staff very pleasant as usual and the refurbishment is much brighter and uplifting and that is what customers want and will enjoy coming here for a breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or drink. Outside seating is great and they now have a new lovely takeaway drinks and snack kiosk.I’m sure who goes here will not be disappointed!!

Just home from having a lovely lunch at the newly refurbished premises. Notice at door asking to wait to be seated. Hand sanitizer, and asked if we minded having our temperature checked. Shown to a table and everyone was seated with adequate social distancing. Although busy the service was very good with polite staff. The food was really good and got slices of cake as a takeaway as lunch really was very filling. Well done to everyone concerned.

Had a lovely experience Here with friends.I am vegetarian and I was really impressed with the menu available..would recommend the falafel & halloumi salad.It’s a busy place however we were perfectly taken care of by our waitress who couldn’t have done more for us & felt safe with all covid safety precautions implemented with temp checks on arrival & sanitizer on the table.The cakes are also to die for & we will definitely be returning soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have been to this lovely little cafe on several occasions but have been over 3 times in the last week.We have found the staff to be so helpful and accommodating and the food is wonderful.They have worked hard to keep the tables safe for social distancing and will ask you if you feel safe on the table that you have been allocated.I have recommended this lovely little cafe to most of my friends and family.

I have been to the olive and pickle a couple of times now and both times were FANTASTIC. The food is exquisite and the staff lovely. The whole restaurant is immaculate and they take their covid procedure very seriously. So friendly and go the extra mile for you. I don’t understand the negative reviews because there is absolutely nothing wrong with this fabulous dining experience. I’d ignore the ‘Karen’s’ saying it wasn’t clean enough. If you were that bothered you wouldn’t leave the house. Next time, instead of leaving a rude review, don’t eat out yet. Period. LOVE YOU OLIVE AND PICKLE

Waitress was nice who served us, and the door host was asking us to use sanitiser upon entry and took our temperature (without asking) - didn't really mind though for obvious reasons. Place was very clean, and food OK (but took ages).. Wouldn't normally leave a review but wanted to as what really let the place down was the way they really crammed people in. It was ridiculous. I couldn't get past as chairs so close together. It's a shame.

Good menu choices, both for snacks and main meals. I had the salt & pepper chicken salad which was one of the best salads that I’ve ever had, choc full of goodies. The cakes looked good - but I was too full up with the salad to have one. The cafe does get busy, however the service is quick and efficient.

This fab little place has become one of our favourite places for having lunch out. The food is lovely and the staff all so pleasant. Definitely worth trying when visiting Hollingworth Lake, you won't be disappointed.

We went here on a Sunday. This place is a victim of it's own success. The food here is very nicely presented in nice traditional surroundings. The staff are pleasant and attentive. Great food, expect it to be busy most of the time.

I am lactose intolerant so like to read men descriptions. Was a bit surprised when the Olives with the Humous and Olives came with Goats cheese. It was changed OK. Meal was expensive for what it was and the staff didn’t listen.

Came here with my girlfriend after walking around the lake. It was very busy but we were seated straightaway and both the food and drink came quickly. We had the cheese and onion toastie and chilli fries and both were really lovely. We'd definitely come back here next time we come to Hollingworth Lake, there were loads of things on the menu I want to try.

Excellent location with an excellent atmosphere. Coffee cups could be slightly bigger, to appreciate the wonderful coffee that little bit longer. No shortage on tea.

Enjoyed coffee and cakes on a lovely warm sunny September afternoon sat outside this cafe watching the world go by. Despite the cafe offering Gluten Free Options none of the cakes were suitable for a gluten free diet, much my disappointment. Others in our party enjoyed their selection of cakes and hot drinks, although the strawberry milkshake was a little short of strawberry! They did however re-make it much to our appreciation.

Not sure if it's me but £11 for 2 coffees and scones little expensive? Would not have minded too much if coffee had been nice but not great I'm afraid. I like a black coffee to have the lovely crema foam on top and taste of coffee rather than boiled water? Scone did come with a small carton of prepackaged clotted cream and a teaspone of jam ‍♀️

Favourite spot for lunch by Hollingworth lake. Been here a few times with the kids, everyone always finds something they like. Great burgers and salads as well as breakfast. Also the best place for takeaway coffee for a walk round the lake.

Took our friends from Spain to this delightful cafe , well we was in for a treat , we all had the fish platter and it was excellent, from the presentation to the eating, staff friendly and attentive, excellent and thank you , will be calling again

This was a child friendly venue and the food was great. We had wraps and everything was presented well. We shared a portion of chips - I would have expected them to be larger for the price. Staff were wonderful and there was no waiting around: service was prompt and a member of staff was at the till for when we were ready to pay. It came to £17 for a wrap, chips, coffee and a slice of cake to takeaway. Thank you!

We eat at Olive and Pickle regularly and have done since it opened, what a little gem it is. You can have a belly filling breakfast or a hearty lunch, it is always delicious. The cakes are irresistible and coffee of the highest order. The girls waiting on are efficient and have a ready smile.

Good produce but could do with a more child friendly option. A breakfast and coffee for me and a sausage and bacon sandwich with an orange juice for my 4 year old granddaughter. £20.

Its very nicely situated opposite the car park at Hollingsworth Lake.It was reasonably busy though we got a table fast and then the service and food were good.

We purposely looked for the olive and pickle but almost went elsewhere. It does not look all that great from the outside but then we saw someone's food and decided to enter. Approached and showed to a table with a friendly waitress, given menus which were a bit tatty, and offered drinks. Drinks were prompt then we placed our orders. All dealings were done politely with a smile. We all ordered different chicken strips, Italian one, chili burger and pie. All were lovely no complaints at all just good standard cafe food. Again good service, prompt and pleasant the only real downside was that things were a bit tatty here and there like the menus, some of the waitress clothes looked a bit tatty and outside just worn. Regardless of the looks I would recommend eating there

My husband and I visited today olive and pickle it is a very inviting place nothing to much trouble. The home made cakes were exquisite. I had the homemadechoclate and orange it was yummy.

We called in for coffee and cake on a very busy Friday afternoon. We chose an attractive looking Victoria sandwich cake and two coffees. Service was quick but the cake and coffee disappointed. The cake was on the dry side and with artificial cream was not worth the 3.95 price.

Always very busy but can reserve tables. Seating outside close to road but ok on a warm day. Nice decor clean, efficient service, waitress to table. Good range of food available. Well cooked and well presented. Toilets to the back of the deli including disabled.

Staff were so helpful both pre visit and attentive and friendly during the lunch despite being very busy we were made to feel completely cared for . The place looks clean and classy lots of light and excellent food . Truly excellent food . I can't praise it well enough for our party of 3 we reserved a table as it's a testament to them how busy they become . And inwas glad we did . I visited your cafe yesterday with a friend at 3pm ..... we were met at the door by “we’re closing at 4pm.” Staff not at all pleasant, couldn’t wait to close.

Popped over for brew in the way back from the walk around the lake. Lovely new deco, very impressive. I ordered cup of tea and glad to see it was served with milk on the side. Great choice if home made cakes

I was served a warm, flat diet coke, and my companion a normal teabag with a pot of water, when she asked for earl grey. The food was very dull, and the noise from them making smoothies and shakes was not conducive to having a nice chat over lunch. Never again.

All food very fresh and tasty. Pleasant to sit outside in sunshine. Poached eggs on toast very dry as bread so thick and unbuttered. Home made cakes gorgeous and well presented. All staff very friendly

I’ve been here a few times cycling but took the family along. It was busy as always, fast service, the staff were attentive but didn’t seem to be smiling or chatty.

Visited for a cake and a coffee after a lovely family stroll around the lake. The decor is very pretty. Flowers everywhere! The cakes all looked amazing. I opted for a scone and was absolutely delighted that it was served warm. served with jam and cream, it was delicious. 2 of our party chose the salted caramel and white chocolate cake, 1 chose the toffee popcorn and peanut butter and the other the lemon meringue cake. All said they tasted amazing. Hopefully we will be walking around the lake again over the summer, we will definitely be back!

Great choice of food, reasonably priced and a friendly atmosphere. No trouble booking a table even at a relatively busy time of the day. Would definitely visit again.

This is a nice little place to eat beside the lakes, there are vegetarian options and the cakes are tasty!

We went at lunchtime today. There wasn’t a single table to spare, and it’s clear why - wonderful buzzing atmosphere, well run and great service. We phoned on our way after leaving another (shocking) restaurant, and this place squeezed us in with just 20 minutes of notice. The waitresses were friendly, smiley and polite. Fab food, good menu and service was prompt. The fish sharing platter was highly recommended. We left full and happy - we will be back! Thank you :)

Called here for lunch whilst visiting Hollingsworth Lake. A very pleasant cafe/deli with good service and reasonably priced. I had warm chicken and goats cheese salad which was delicious .

Having never visited Hollingworth Lake before, my family and I decided to take a trip and go for a walk to see the sights.

What a find! Looking for a halfway point between Bolton and Wakefield and we decided on Olive & Pickle because of the opening hours - the earlier the better when you’re leaving the family sleeping on a Saturday morning! Generous breakfast, amazing hot choc, freshest cakes to tempt ... it would be my local if I lived locally!

What an absolute delight this place is! If you find yourself by the lake, you simply must go in. These guys have worked extremely hard to get this place operating as efficiently as it does. The staff are all wonderful, happy, smiley and VERY efficient people. Rarely do you go in to a place where the standard of food is so high and the staff meet that standard, the girls all clearly love working there!

This place is always busy! A great place to finish off your walk around the lake, good quality honest food, ideal for breakfast and brunch. If you can leave without buying a slab of homemade cake I salute you...
