Oldham Star in Oldham

I'm writing this post because I've just had a delivery from Uber. We chose Oldham Star as wete regulars at Cheetham star in Cheetham hill so guaranteed the food would be excellent. The Uber delivery driver that brought the food was not who was on there ID the food was cold after collecting over an hour before, I questioned the drivers (kids) they said the food was cold when collected. I knew it wasn't as the presentation and quality you could see. Just wanted the restaurant to know that I've put a complaint in that the food was excellent but cold because of there greedy drivers collecting too many order an driving Miles out the way who are ruining good businesses and it's time it stopped nearly £11 in fees thatis taken from the restaurant. Please if your food arrives cold complain to uber as its not the restaurants fault.

Love the food, best known for kebabs and nan breads. One of my go to food places. Friendly staff always get a smile as appreciation for custom. Good location with limited seating area. Would have been nice if they had a bigger floor space to eat tin and also be able to enjoy the country side in the distance, which you can see if you sit near the door. Excellent rating for the numerous times ordered. Value for money if eating in or collecting in person. If you order through Just eat lots of service charges and it's pricey.

Honest, hard working lads. Consistent high quality food. Only thing I would complain about would be that the chips portions are too small.

Walked past here on way into the town centre and it looked and smelt banging cooking in the window, so after a cheap pint in the town centre we made our way back to that little kebab shop and ordered two of thee tastiest chicken and lamb wraps. All I have to say is thank you for making a grown man weep happy food tears.

Pizza was over-cooked, large portion of chips looked medium sized, salad has gone downhill. Their sumac salad was always spot on but has been of a terrible standard lately. Mint sauce tasted off. Will be returning here (having been a regular for the last decade)

1st time visit and got to say the donner kebab was one of if not the best I've had. None of the German muck some proper dirty kebab meat. I will be revisiting.

Really fantastic kebabs. Huge portions, excellent value for money and particularly good chilli sauce. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

Disgusting pizza with no taste and £3 for this tiny box of fries for £18 what a rip off Won’t be ordering from here again Came within 15 minutes Cold and not eatable put in the bin

You really got it wrong 😡 Ordered yesterday, two kebabs, one side of fries. Not a difficult order to get right so you would think. Got into the car started driving off and realised there no fries,rang back 5 star explain the situation, went back got the side of fries got home open the bag no sauces. So rang 5 Star back again !. Explained there was no sauce in the bag by this time I was incredibly frustrated. They said they would deliver the sources with an extra side of fries for free. Can you imagine how delighted I was at receiving some extra sources and a side of cold fries. By the time they got here the kebabs I bought were cold. The naan bread was soggy . Clearly my business to 5 star is valued not. Well I won’t be back. Disappointed

Best food in oldham always nice and fresh

Great place with very clean food. All salad and chicken burgers are made fresh on the spot, great selection of crispy onions, fermented cabbage, lettuce, cucumber and tomato as well as the house salsa chilly sauce, which goes great with the chips and on the burger.

Honestly these guys consistently produce top quality kebabs, fresh bread and fresh salad - our go to kebab takeaway in Oldham. Kobeda is always fresh, tasty, seasoned and cooked perfectly; chicken is always juicy and tasty, they do chicken on skewer and chicken donner, lamb donner is super tasty too, a lot better quality than your average takeaway.

All around winner! Everything of the menu is cooked nicely, always happy with Oldham Star

Just had a takeaway mix Donner meat and chicken horrible taste not good meat and the yoghurt sauce smells like it's gone off

£4.50 for a quarter pounder, no meal, take away, expensive

I want to say thank you. There was an error in the delivery of my order and the staff quickly delivered my original order.

Came in through the front door was greeted with warmth, even managed to have a real conversation with the member of staff who was serving me, who was genuinely concerned and interested in my woes which made me feel like a valued customer, he even spoke to my father over the phone to make sure his order was what he wanted. Now thats what a place to eat should be like. Visit soon it's definitely worth it!

The delivery took over 1hr and 10 mins and they took the piss after saying the location at least 4 times they said "ThE DriVEr WAs ThEre" the pizza was cold and hard, wouldnt recommend going to this place paid £24 for the pizza and wasn't that good.

Had it years ago and was amazing this time not so good. Don't recommend

What can I say apart from fabulous! I want to try other items on their menu but the kebabs are that good that I would regret it if I went there and left without getting one of their kebabs. The kobeda is the best I've ever eaten and the chicken tikka is special, large portion size and tasty. A well run quality takeaway with a worthy excellent reputation!

Everytime I go the prices have gone up. Doner Kebab up from £5.50 to £6.50 that's over 18%

Staff is very rude 😒. They don't know price. Monday i bought pizza £7 Wednesday same pizza said £8 . Then another staff came very rude he said it's is £10. Never going again. All are fu,,,,,,,. Rude saff.it was very busy takeaway but now it's very quiet because bad staff and now bad food. Please don't waste money.

Not sure what the hell was going on with the Donna meat yesterday am absolutely green with food poisoning.

Travelled back from Llandudno and quite simple the best anywhere around Oldham, great people, great produce, quite simply the BEST !! keep smiling and keep up the great work

Amazing Kobedas and chips and burgers and pizzas. Excellent price and fresh food. Parking is relatively easy too. When busy hard to sit inside. One of my favourite kebab places. Can’t wait to go again.

Its my brother’s favourite so decided to order a couple of pizzas. Didn’t disappoint!

Ordered a 16 quid kebab and a tray of donner meat, spotted the tiny sign on the till cash only, shell station opposite has a cash machine but it charges. Parking is limited to the side st . So food was all bagged up seperate , with a tray of salad and Yoghurt, chilli sauce. The chicken chunks were big but not much taste, the naan was nice but small, kobeda tasted plain, the donner meat also had no taste, its taken me 2 years to gwt to be near Oldham star to try it, noticed they do 16.inch pizzas.for around 11 quid might try that next .

Used to love this place but recently customer service has become terrible. They barely put any sauce on their Donner portions, and tried asking for more and on two separate occasions was given a rude response. How you expecting us to eat a big portion with a little tiny amount of sauce? They charge a lot of money for their food the least they can do is not be stingy with sauce.

We came to this shop from Southport because someone recommended this shop to us... it's the first time we come here but also the last! I had a very bad experience with their kebab! The smell of smoke in the chicken is very strong, I couldn't eat anything! One thing was good chips and cold juice! I DO NOT RECOMMEND🤢

By far the best takeaways in the Oldham area my personal favourite is the large kebab mix dinner chicken tikka and kobeda

Went for first time tonight whilst visiting family in Oldham. They had run out of lamb but I got chicken tikka on naan. Naan perfectly cooked as was the chicken. Chilli and garlic sauces also very tasty and the guy behind the counter was very friendly- definitely come back again

My all time fave takeaway in Oldham! Friendly staff and good prices for the quality. Highly recommend the spicy lamb fatayer and spicy chicken burgers. The kebabs are also very good with fresh, tasty salad. Everything is made fresh so I would recommend to phone up and order especially at a weekend.

So, this spot used to be THE place to grab a killer burger. Recently though, things have been a bit different. Feels like they're hustling more for the Uber Eats and Deliveroo crowd and us regular folks eating in are getting the short end of the stick. Like, last time I was in, I ordered a burger and it was pretty obvious they'd just given me a mix-up from someone else's order. Plus, they went a bit crazy with the spicy sauce - the thing was swimming in it, making my burger a complete soggy mess. It's a real head-scratcher, 'cause this place used to nail it every time. Here's hoping they take a step back, look at what's going on, and get back to what made them so good in the first place. They’ve forgot about the customers and only care about the food. What happened to this place…

We came here on Saturday eve after hearing rave reviews, We ordered 2 lamb kebabs and chips. The person taking our order wasn't friendly at all. The lamb was as tough as old boots and we ended up throwing the meat away, The sauce came in the tiniest of pots maybe just enough to cover one piece of meat. There was a token half grilled onion which was nice. We ate the Nan bread, salad and chips which were pleasant. For the price which isn't cheap compared to other places I would expect better produce, also a bigger sign stating it's cash only!

Best take away in Oldham. All food cooked fresh in front of your eyes. All staff is very polite. I will definitely recommend and give 5star.

Absolutely terrible! I ordered a kebab which was dear for what I received. All my salads were missing and part of my order. I rang to rectify the issue however the person on the phone wasn’t much help. He simple said there’s nothing he could do and hung up the phone. If I’ve paid for food I expect all of my food to arrive! If not at least rectify the issue:

Worst customer service, not sure their reviews are genuine. The food arrived late, it was too spicy, not warm, could not even eat it. called the restaurant and they didn't care. this was such a waste of money. The food was too hot despite the menu not specifying this and they said its not their problem

Hands down best Kobeda kebab! Grilled fresh in tandoor oven. Naan was soft and crispy at the edges, great salad & sauce too! Top top place. Great value too. Double kobeda on naan with salad about £6. Worth a trip!

The staff are so friendly and welcoming when you enter and they do the best homemade chilli sauce ever! I can't wait to come back and try the kobeda kebab

They were amazing once. But now staff is terrible and dodgy. Most discriminatory shop ever seen in my life. If customer is white they are OK to accept credit if customer has foreign ethnicity they refuse to accept credit card and ask for cash only. They are tax stealer. May be I’m gonna report to HMR

Disgusting behaviour my one of the staff his skinny wearing a black t shirt..I went in at 4 o'clock on the 28th of May..I will never go back my full family was going everyw spending £100 pounds never again..please avoid this place they only here for our money no respect talking down at you like you ARE NOTHING I put the time and date so the owner could see it..I got 3 takaways myself if my staff did want he did il get rid off him not good for business

Had the spicy chicken fillet meal which was recommended by one of my colleagues who used to live in Oldham but now lives in Australia. It was fresh and really flavoursome. Would return again to try the Kobeda kebab. The staff was nice too.

Best in the business especially for the Kobeda kebab. The food is always fresh tried the chicken burgers, donner, pizzas, chicken strips, chicken donner including the salad etc. There is so much variety makes it difficult to chose because its all very tasty. The owner looks after the customers & the staff are very polite. I highly recommend to try this place its been open for many years a well established business. Thanks again!

They have got one of the best doner I have eaten in Manchester but I strongly feel the team I met when I visited should learn to communicate properly and be patient with their customers. Good food though.
