As always the food was top notch. Dont think i have ever had bad food from thus lovely little chippy.

Had fish and chips today and they where amazing highly recommend

The best fish and chips we've had in a long time. We stopped eating fish and chips due to grease or less chips or blimey fish. Oh my cod has our custom and we will refer them to all our family and friends.

Cracking little old school chippy Food amazing, price more than reasonable. Local people - don’t take this place for granted. They don’t make chippies like this anymore. 5 stars without doubt.

Visited this chip shop the other day and I won’t ever be visiting again this fish and chips shop is embarrassing!! I’m not going to into the full details but so far as to say the fish they serve is neither cod or is it haddock because the fish we had was watery and rank ( and I hate giving bad reviews but this shop is taking its customers for a ride) and it was the same the last time we came here a few months back but I thought I would give it another go but never ever again! If a fish chip shop is selling cheap frozen nasty horrible fish to its customers who must be deluded or just must have such a bad pallet to notice then I’m Truly at a loss! And may I add this shop is not even cheap!! I’m really shocked at some of the reviews on here, either the people of Barnsley don’t know there fish and chips ( which I doubt) or this chip shop has a lot of friends!! either way the reviews on here which say it’s “ the best fish and chip Shop in Barnsley” are truly deluded or are just simply lieing!

You're in safe hands here. Proper nice fish and chips, and good people at both sides of the counter. I'd definitely recommend the Irish Curry, but you don't need it, the fish and chips are perfect with just salt and vinegar on.

This is the best fish and chips shop in Barnsley. They do a special fish and chips with a side which is great as we are pensioners and it's fantastic. We have been having fish and chips from this shop for many years even before it changed its name. The fish is exceptionall really white and the batter is lovely and crispy not soggy. Would recommend 👌. We live at Staincross but it's worth the drive just for fish and chips. 100%👍

i went earlier today and i got 3 cod specials and omg they were amazing, the fish was perfectly cooked and was crispy on the outside and the chips were amazing like always! i 100% recommend if your craving a nice fish and chips! not to mention the amazing staff there who made my order. set of amazing woman 😁

I haven't eaten here (yet) but salt of the earth the people in this chippy. I got a flat tyre on my way home from visiting my husband in hospital who has had a heart attack. And in my state of panic needing to get home for the kids finishing school after one of the worst weeks of my life the chap came to my rescue and changed my tyre for me, so very grateful as was my husband. After reading the reviews I will be calling in on my way home from hospital hopefully without a flat tyre to try their fish and chips for me and the kids.

I do a number of reviews on chip shops and this one didn't let me down. Not only was the fish 10 stars and cooked perfect the batter was 10 stars also. I am really fussy with batter you can have a good fish and poor batter and completely ruins the fish. All soggy inside. Not good but this was excellent would highly recommend a visit even if means going out of your way. You won't be disappointed. I also tried the donner meat. Really nice and tasty. Will be visiting again shortly.

Really good chip shop, new owner. The previous review "this is a joke" shows a small cod special (customer has clearly tampered with this prior to the photo). Had a few of these when i go and the presentation in that photo is so off. They are lovely and the perfect size for myself. Recommend the chip shop to anyone. Friendly staff and quick customer service.

Go in once a week for my 90yr old dad nothing too much trouble he likes a lightly battered white fish and non anaemic chips and that is exactly what he gets The staff are so nice and always ready for a banter will their customers Would recommend Cmn

Best chippie round Barnsley Edit**** After not going here for over a year we came back to have some food and this is my second review after giving this place five stars four years ago on my first review. The attitude of the staff is disgusting, I can only assume that this shop has been taken over because the old Italian couple who ran it were lovely. The portions are smaller than I remember but the prices are still the same. The food was as nice as I remember however due to the disrespectful young lady and the old woman who was very unprofessional I will never come here again. I hope the new owner sees this review and uses it to make adjustments within the staff or I can see the business failing. TIP, give people a carrier bag. Tonight I saw you make an old lady walk out of your shop with at least 10 individual items, the old owners would have given her a cardboard box or a carrier bag, if I hadn’t of been there to help her out I don’t know what would of happened.

Very rare I fancy fish and chips as often not haddock or cod and usually swimming in grease.... But passing today and thought I would try as came recommended when we moved to Barnsley in Oct. Ordered a lightly battered fish with chips. Can honestly say they are the best fish and chips I have eaten. Portions great, fresh and not greasy at all and actual Haddock!

Great fish and chips and very reasonably priced! I dropped in around 45 mins before they were due to close and expected I might end up with bits that had been sat heated for some time. This was not the case everything was cooked freshly in front of me. Enjoyed listening to a bit of workplace winding down banter about who was doing the washing up etc.

Used to always go here, because the fish and chips were good. However, the last few times we've been we've had to listen to a young girl constantly complain about how busy it's getting (with 3 people waiting) and can't we just close up, if we run out of chips I'm not putting my hand in that bucket to get out anymore. On another occasion my partner walked in whilst an elderly woman was eating and she asked 'how would you like it if I came to your house whilst you were eating'! If you don't like your job, get another one. Who wants to go to a chippy and be made to feel like an inconvenience, when they are paying for a service.

Rude staff who clearly do not want to be there or have a clue what customer service is. Simply asked for a lightly battered fish which turned into a conversation between staff as no one wanted to fry it! I left and went to Shaws Fish and Chips which is of much higher quality. Will not be returning here.

I asked a simple question about if they had any steak pies and was spoken to rather in a rather odd and cold manner. if they don't know how to interact with customers then I wouldn't want to trust them to make my food as they clearly don't care about customer service

Paid £1.70 for a regular chips and there were roughly 20 chips which 8 where bad. My partner also got a free hair with her chips which we didn’t want or order . Shocking portions watered down vinegar won’t be going there again .

gone downhill since owners changed , i think i was just served yesterdays sausages reheated today , all three sausages rock hard , even my dog would not eat them , chips soggy and dank , peas watered down and reheated , fishcake was mush , you have lost yet another customer

Every other time was beutfiul, just popped up for a chips and gravy, never again gravy was a mix of tap water and cat p*ss and chips could’ve been used to drone strike general soleimani, not trying to be offensive but I don’t think I’ll be going again not happy

Not much to say really the service is excellent as are in my opinion the fish and chips. I would highly recommend the foot long cod if you are like me quite a hungry person, the chips are served in good sized portions which are big and bigger.
