Normans in Mid Suffolk

Always a pleasure staff always very welcoming and friendly and chatty food is always cooked fresh when we arrive decent portion size and prices are good

Had to travel a few miles to get to the shop but well worth it as way better than our local chippy. Delicious, perfectly cooked fresh fish, and chips were delicious, neither too greasy or soggy. No hesitation in returning in the future.

Somewhat out of the town centre.....but well worth tracking down. Had to ask the locals for directions [Bury Street] .....was on holiday from Oxfordshire. Small shop but very clean. Fish & Chips were of excellent quality....not overcooked and soggy. Will be my first choice when in the area again. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely vile!! Very soggy and cold. Chips were Undercooked. Huge disappointment would not recommend

I am really surprised at the 4 & 5 star ratings. Maybe I have been unlucky but I have had cod & chips from them 3 times and every time it was literally dripping fat from it. Shouldn't have gone back a 2nd & 3rd time but I had hoped that it would have improved. Really greasy. Shan't be using them again.

Delicious food, freshly (and quickly) cooked, by great friendly staff. On street parking is usually available but at busy times there is a car park literally seconds down the road. Good price and delicious - would have no hesitation in recommending.

Went their 21st January where I was served very quickly the cod and chips were absolutely delicious and more than I could eat.

I’ve past this chippy many times & thought I should give it ago. So when I had a longer than average lunch time I gave it a shot. I ordered cod & chips with a can of coke, pretty simple, and chose to sit in. They only have one table & four fixer chairs. I received my meal in a takeaway container (a little surprised as I’d asked to eat in), I then asked for a knife & fork..no, sorry, only plastic forks from the counter. OK, i sat down to a takeaway fish & chips with a plastic fork that couldn’t handle the heat and kept bending, so after several forks & my multi-tool knife & a coke with no glass..all for £7.50..I’m writing this now having just had the exact same meal in the Lime Tree Cafe. Good size cod & chips with side salad on a china plate, eaten with a metal knife & fork, with a window seat of my choice & a chilled coke out of a glass...cost £8.15......0.65p difference, Normans won’t be seeing my money again.

I am not ashamed to say that we use Normans regularly, mainly on a Wednesday evening. The food is always fresh, great quality and the service is always warm and friendly. We highly recommend.

Fish and chips are freshly cooked, good quality. Clean premises, friendly staff. There is a good choice of fish, sausages among other food. Drinks are also available to buy.

If you want a nice piece of fish in this area Nomans is the place to go. We have always had very nice cod, thick and nice white flakes. The chips are good as well. You might have to wait for it to be cooked but it is always worth it.

I always go to Normans for the families Fish and Chips. Food is always fresh and well cooked. The staff are friendly. You can also call up and pre order food to prevent standing round waiting in busy periods.

Turned up with around 40 mins of their advertised trading hours left. Enquired As to whether a large battered sausage was available, but was abruptly told by a man, “ we’re closing!” So I placed my order and was shocked to have the shop closed around me, signs brought in, lights switched off and general feeling that I was interrupting their early closure. The food was mediocre and sadly I will continue to use the fisherman’s basket which I highly rate for first class old fashioned fish and chips.

Always go to Norman’s for our weekly fish and chip takeaway.

I used to frequent Normans Fish Bar some 50 years ago after going to the Pot of Flowers pub opposite. Dropped in on a reminiscing trip to Stowmarket about 18 months ago and it was still as good as ever. Norman's son had taken over but superb!!

Been going to Normans for years and the quality and taste fails to meet any disapproval - always fresh, tasty and good to go, re,aims tasty and good after a journey of 15 mins home.

The fish is always fresh and the chips are thick and very tasty. Their battered spicy saveloy is the best I have ever had. The portions are very generous. The service is quick and always polite. The best fish and chips in the area.

By far the best chip shop in Stowmarket. Worth the drive to come here. Parking is luck as is in the street but never had to walk far.

very nice fish and chips as always from here. Plenty of chips and very good size fish portions, in fact if you order the extra large fish you are 'gunna need a bigger plate'

I really think you need to go a long way to beat the fish and chips served here they are freshly cooked good value for money and taste great
