Nonna's Sheffield in Sheffield

I asked for a platter for two people and they brought me slices of salami that they sell at the discount store. The gnocchi were not handmade. I didn't see or feel Italianness. The prices were too high for courses that contained little food. I don't recommend it to anyone.

Good food and service, but NOT cheap!!

Authentic Italian cuisine, lovely service.

Can't fault Nonnas. It never fails to deliver whether you're just popping in for a coffee, a beer, breakfast, lunch or a special meal. The food is always amazing, the staff and service top notch and somehow it always has the right atmosphere at anytime of day. Our go to place.

Is it cheap? No. Is it expensive? No. Is it more than I'd normally spend on a family meal? Yes. Was it the best steak I've ever eaten? By far the best. Was it the nicest red wine I've had? Easily. I've eaten at Michelin star places and many of Ramsays places due to being lucky in my past. The food I had at Nonnas was ad good as if not better than anything I've eaten before. Also the Italian manager is awesome.

Everyone enjoyed all their dishes! The seafood risotto was really nice, just a few undercooked rice grains that slightly bothered me other than that it’s beaut! Goat cheese & fig bruschetta isn’t how i imagined; just underwhelming to look at and tasted ok - sorry .. overall Lovely and welcoming atmosphere!

Since the beginning when the staff received us on the door until we paid the bill. Absolutely amazing. The food is delicious and proper done. The flavours....omg we went to Italia. Thanks for the fabulous experience

Great food and lovely restaurant but most of the female staff were horrible from the moment we walked in.

The staff taking our food and drink orders were nice, the gentle man bringing our food just looked fed up, nearly threw a burrata of the plate putting it down and didn’t even acknowledge us. When he was clearing the table he again didn't acknowledge us. When he brought the mains, face liked a slapped arse again like we were an inconvenience. Then when grating Parmesan he covered 2 guests (did the same to a poor man eating by himself next to us aswelll. The food was okay but a bill of £160 for 4 basic pasta dishes, 2 basic starters, a cocktail, a shandy and 2 vodkas was definitely not worth it. Comparing to other independent Italian restaurants in the city. Wasn’t full but was not worth £40pp to then need to go get a burrito after to not be hungry

Superb New York style cheese and flat white

Ate here with my wife and daughter last week. The food was delicious and the staff were just brilliant with my 2 year old daughter. We really enjoyed our meal. Thanks to the staff at Nonna's

Probably we’ll go back for dinner or brunch as the food is pleasant, but not for coffee. Ordered this morning a latte and a flat white with my daughter. Both coffees served with plenty of milk and not at all coffee flavoured. We both felt like just had drinking our milk. Excellent breakfast and service too. Happy when the waitress asked me if I prefer the almond croissant to be served warm or cold.

Fantastic experience, as always, at Nonna's Sheffield. I'd highly recommend the risotto nduja and the lasagne. The garlic bread with cheese is an absolute must too!

Overcharged, an extra glass of wine was added to our bill. Sat in the rear area made getting service tricky. Excellent Antipasti, good risotto. Reasonable prices.

One you have a steak at Nonnas you won’t find a steak better!! The food and service is impeccable!!

Had a wonderful evening here with family celebrating my wife’s birthday. The food was excellent, delicious & authentic Italian, the place had a really cosy feel to it & the staff were so friendly & helpful. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a bit more of a ‘special’ meal out & will definitely return if we’re back in Sheffield again

Overall, it was a great evening, a little pricey and restaurant area very noisy with a couple of kids and a table of well-oiled adults!

We’re always impressed with everything about Nonna’s and have visited for our anniversary for ten years now. The staff are always welcoming, the food is fabulous and there’s always a buzzing atmosphere to add to the experience. We love it!

One sees the small restaurant from outside and… and it really doesn’t matter what you think. They pizza is simply the best. Believe me, I have tried thousands.

The Sunday roast is perfectly cooked, with crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy.

Finally our reviewer has committed to writing up a visit to Nonnas! But before reviewing this simple visit for coffee on 16-December, we must set the historic record straight. Our reviewer has visited Nonnas many times in the past 25 years, but we never nailed him down! So here it is... Congratulations Nonnas on providing the ultimate five-star package for what is probably, the best restaurant, cafe and wine bar in Sheffield. It's a simple case of the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.  And that means that if something didn't quite measure up to five-stars, the rest makes up for it, and you come away feeling Nonnas got it completely right. Nonnas caters for everyone, young, old and all those in the middle. Yes, there's a loud crowd on weekend evenings and yes, you struggle to get a table when you don't book in advance, and yes, the food just very occasionally can be more café than restaurant, but it tastes amazing! Our reviewers' late mother epitimised many customers... she loved coming here, even with all the noise, as she felt special, appreciated and loved the way the maître d' made a fuss over her. And so to the coffee visit this evening... Our reviewer popped in, as a last minute decision and ordered an Americano at 1803hrs. The waitress Magdelina said well, actually coffee was no longer being served after 1800hrs... after a quick smile, a great coffee was served to the reviewer's table without delay. Thank you Nonnas for everything you do!

Had to visit to see all the hype around the place. Whilst I ordered the tagliatelle salsiccia and lasagne della nonna, I found both to be too sweet for my liking. A real shame because I felt with a bit more of a kick and something to cut through the sweetness, they would have been great dishes.

Like a reliable old friend, this place has stuck around through thick and thin.

We were a table of 15 with most guests eating 3 courses and drinking alcohol. Our booking was at 6:30, but with no notice or warning we we asked to leave the table shortly after 8 due to ‘angry footballers’ wanting our table who did not have a reservation. Half our guests were still enjoying their desserts when staff started clearing the table ready for the next. We were then asked to move to the bar several times whilst still eating and finishing drinks as they we getting impatient. I must note the food could not be faulted but was truly spoiled by the service and treatment we received. When we were told to move to the bar. There was not a table for our party to sit together or room even stand in a group. This really spoiled the occasion of what was meant to be a special meal for family to reunite after many years and celebrate my graduation. Being unable to carry on our night was cut short. Feeling disheartened and disrespected. Our booking made weeks in advance and a large sum of money spent with no sincere apologies or compensation. To be disregarded for a group of ‘footballers from Germany’ who had walked in off the street with no booking. I was given no notice when booking or even on arrival that night that our time at the table was limited. This has ruined my views of this restaurant and I would not recommend to a group booking.

Great food and great place to meet people

Ate here with family. Lovely waiting staff but the food was poor. Not sure how you can go wrong with brushetta but the overwhelming flavour was overcooked toast on one and olive oil on the goats cheese and fig one? Charceuterie platter disappointing. With again less flavour that Lidl's selection. Seafood linguine was unpleasant. The flavour of overused cooking oil. Inedible the lasagne however was perfect. Recommend a review of suppliers to get better quality ingredients. The chef needs to fall back in love with cooking and take pride in their craft

I was in town visiting family and took me here for dinner. What an incredible experience, this is how dining out should be. We started with a drink at the restaurant’s bar next door which had the perfect blend of cosiness with modern touches. Chatting to some of the locals they said we’d be in for a treat and they weren’t wrong! From the moment we sat at the table we were greeted by the friendly waiting staff. Nothing was too much trouble and even though it was Friday night and very busy this didn’t compromise the level service we received. We had a mix of olives, bruschetta and dips to start followed one of the best bowls of pasta I’ve had. The Sausage Tagliatelle delivered on every aspect, perfectly cooked al dente pasta made to perfection. The sausage was slow cooked with a rich deep Tuscan flavour with a hint of chilli. Whenever I’m next in Sheffield I’ll definitely be returning back to this gem of a restaurant which transports you to Italy with a sprinkle of northern charm thrown in!

Superb Italian restaurant. All the food was great, but the stand out dish was the nduja risotto which had a perfectly mild chilli heat level for me. I will definitely add it my risottos at home!

Great welcoming place. Booked table for me and my wife’. The food was fabulous the staff Natalia recommended what to have steak asparagus and potatoes with mushrooms. sauce. Can’t thank them enough Natalia is a gem really helpful lovely lady. Enrich with his fantastic humour.. highly recommend.

Food was brilliant, service in the restaurant was exceptional. In the bar the time between last orders and the security guard asking us in a brusque manner to leave was only about 10 minutes which didn't feel like enough time. Either last orders needs to be earlier or kicking out time needs to be a few minutes later. A spritz is a hard drink to get through quickly!

I have been a few times - truly an incredible restaurant, if friends are visiting town I tend to bring them here for a meal! The menu offers classic dishes as well as innovative recipes, and the food is full of flavour. The service is very good, orders are taken quickly, staff are willing to make a substitution (within reason!), and generally staff are smiling and attentive. The decorum feels on the luxurious side, with a certain cosiness created by the lighting, and the music isn’t too loud. Overall, a favourite restaurant of mine and I hope they keep everything up :)

Starters were the highlight. Mains were good (similar to other restaurants in Sheffield). Desserts were average, not the best I’ve had in Sheffield. But overall service was worrying! The food runners were great but management was not paying attention. We constantly had to go retrieve someone for service and they were caught up in their own conversation at the door.

Always a lovely way to spend time with your fave coffee. Staff are super friendly and efficient. Their in house staff banter and singing creates a lovely atmosphere.

We had a really lovely evening. The seafood risotto was delicious.

We order Still water, pasta Amatriciana and Rigatoni Scamorza. Water was served from a bottle that was already opened, waitress didn't open on the table in front of customers... The Cheese used for the pasta wasn't Scamorza as indicated on the Menu and also I specifically requested to have the pasta aldente but unfortunately was over coocked nearly like glue. The pasta Amatriciana was very poor on Pancetta, with a very minimal amount of it, the Menu indicated Red Onion but it was over saturated with standard Onion,unfortunately they used the Onion as the main ingredient for the sauce instead of Pancetta.

You can't know how to eat Italian food if you've never done it, you can't know the taste of Italian products and dishes, these are not things you can explain or even imagine, you just have to decide to go and try it yourself, only then will you understand what you've missed, eating Italian food is one of life's pleasures.

Walked in spontaneously and wow what a delight it was. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely food and amazing service. Everything was lovely and we'll definitely be back. If youre walking past nonna get in now, you won't be disappointed.

I've never been there in person and I'm sure the food is great, but found £18 for a takeaway tagliere a bit too much when other respectable pizzerias in Sheffield can offer a lot more at the same price. Never again a tagliere from here 😅

We turned up without a booking and were welcomed with open arms. The service was exceptional. The cocktails were delicious and prepared our tummies for some of the best food I have tasted. I had the seafood risotto and my wife had the chicken breast. Both were delicious. I think the value for the quality of the food is superb. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome. Thank you for the excellent food and atmosphere. We will be back!!

Good food. Excellent service. They do need to look at their wine options. £32 for their cheapest bottle of red. £39 for a decent bottle of red is a little excessive. You're in Sheffield guys, not Mayfair.

Very enjoyable food, great service and an overall wonderful experience. Food is a little pricey, though. Would recommend the limoncello!

A latte here comes as a single espresso shot, and is small. If you ask for an extra shot then you will pay £4.55 for a small latte. Far too much for Sheffield, even in 2024. I do like this place and will probably return but my experience the last couple of times has been spoilt by screaming children. It’s clearly a child friendly establishment but at the detriment of everyone else’s experience (for almost £5 a coffee I don’t want to be sitting in a crèche).

Brilliant food friendly service couldn't fault it if I tried

We went here for our anniversary date night and it was the best place to go! The food was incredible, service was great, the atmosphere was romantic, and the owner came by and said hello and was incredibly welcoming. Definitely our new go-to italian restaurant in Sheffield

I love this restaurant and really enjoyed a lovely relaxing dinner with my friend. Some of the staff have worked at the restaurant forever and take time to welcome customers old and new. Bit more expensive these days,but isn't everywhere. I had the Salmon and Courgette pasta with Lemon. So delicious that I cooked my version of the dish last week at home. The chocolate mousse was to die for. Nonna does fabulous desserts so make sure you have room. Thanks Stefano and team ❤️

If this restaurant didn’t charge such a high price for the food I would have given it a much higher rating. It’s in a very nice part of town and the service was very good, but it just isn’t good enough value for money. We had one cocktail each, a portion of bruschetta each, one cream of spinach pasta with no meat or fish and a small portion of gnocchi and the bill came to over £70! £16 for a portion of pasta that contains no meat or fish is very difficult to justify in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind if this was a fine dining establishment with white tablecloths and excellent service, but I didn’t even have to extend my arm to touch the next table we were so close! It didn’t feel intimate or relaxing at all, and we also witnessed the manager telling off one of the staff twice!

An amazing place to visit. The service was very good especially the owner, very attentive and polite. The atmosphere was lovely and very welcoming. The food we had was superb. Everything was cooked perfectly and very balanced, which made the dishes a pleasure to eat and enjoy. The wine selection is also very good quality (it went down a little too well). Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for some of the best Italian food in the city.

Literally the best pasta I’ve ever eaten! The Vele Al Tartufo was literally to die for as well as the focaccia 👌🏻 cocktails and mocktails were also delicious. We will be back again soon.

Great coffee, disappointed with our breakfasts as we didn't actually receive what we had ordered. We assume they must have run out of some products but would have liked to be made aware as we may have chosen differently. My husband ordered the Italian style breakfast but it was served with a plain pork sausage & smoked bacon, instead of any Italian meat so so apart from the stew (amazing btw) it was a English breakfast. I ordered the pancetta & scrambled eggs but again, I got smoked bacon. As we had ordered any coffee when our menus were brought to the table, we planned to mention it when the coffee arrived. Unfortunately, no one came back to our table so my husband went to ask about them once he had finished his food. We finished our coffee, went up & paid then left. Really hoping it was a bad day as all the menus look great & the atmosphere is lovely. Will try again but don't think it will be any time soon

Gorgeous food and friendly, helpful service. Definitely get yourself over here. Service is quick and there's a lot of choices on the menu inc vegetarian, gluten free and vegan.

Came here for drinks so cannot rate on the food. This is a small bar and the drinks list is pretty good. The espresso martinis are very strong I did feel a bit off afterwards, deffo can't have too many of these. For a cocktail and pint of moretti it was just under £16. Not a bad place to come in for a drink when on eccy road

Rude staff, 3 different waitresses came to table to offer free table water that we clearly had in had in our hands then had the cheek to charge you 3.95 for said water and the woman in the black top om the day needs to learn manners and personal space. food was dire none of the food was fresh you could just tell it wasnt and made me go to the toilet with extreme stomach ache and toilet issues for the next two days and they place an optional service tip on the bill without letting you even have that option of taking it off.

This is a very good place, but somehow standards of food are sliding down. Pasta is not as delicious as it used to be few years back, still good, but not excellent anymore. However, risotto can be recommended without doubts. Overall, it is a nice place to be with good choice of Italian wines.
