New City in Sandwell

Really dissapointed..Used this place 25+ years and tonight food really lacked the normal tasty spicy flavour and the service seems to of dropped..!! Seems to be too busy for staff to handle with all the delivery orders.. Such a shame but youve lost my continued custom.!!.

Been going here since I was little and my mum did the same before that. Always good food and service. I'm not local anymore, but always have to get my Singapore chow mein when I'm in the area.

Last time I order from there. Food was cold. Menu says 10 spring rolls. When order arrives only 5. Phoned and asked why they said that's not our menu. The menu clearly states 10 if not your menu GET it off your website

One of the best in Birmingham, I keep coming back.

I have been going to this Chinese takeaway for over 20 years it's simple the best in the West Midlands.

Very poor quality food. Ordered a duck in bbq sauce which came all fat and soggy. The sauce was very watered down. Also ordered a chicken curry, the meat was of boiled texture and the sauce again was watery and tastless. When calling the resturant we were asked to return the food for refund. Why should we bring the food back. We insisted on them collecting the food. Still waiting for refund!!

Firstly just to note the food here is actually really nice, however the one star is given for the appalling customer service!! After ordering a large order one item was missing (chicken chow mein), on calling to advise of the missing item the manager was extremely rude and I’m accused us of lying saying he put the item in. We advised maybe it had fallen out in the drivers car and could he ask the driver to check, to which the reply was his driver is Muslim and does not eat Chinese so it would not be in his car. Again I advised the one item from the order was missing and we would not lie for one item. He continued to insinuate we were lying and that we had the item. I would advise if you order from here check you have all your items before you pay, otherwise do not expect any apology for missing items or replacement item/refund. Will never order again!!

I LOVE HOME at the moment. Snow & covid have made it sooo easy to be la💤y. As for places to go...there is a little butchers on Bearwood road just past Aldi (also great), next to Poundland that due the most amazing pulled pork, stuffing & gravy sandwich for less than £1.80. The whole world should be carnivorous for a day YUMMY

Partner went tonight all i wanted was a pancake roll , came back bag of small spring rolls rock hard and hardly anything in them went in bin phoned called to complain all i could get out of him was i asked meat or veg how many times i tried to tell him it wasn't that i wanted pancake roll got spring rolls lost my cool in the end, last time i had my usual a house special Chow Mein was just full off salt so that went in the bin , so think i am done with them used them for years don't know what's happened to them

Placed a order at 1730 at 1830 called them and asked where my order was..As its only 8 minutes drive from me..He said what do you want me to do about it... Thought very rude so cancelled order..He said ok then hung the phone up...Not even willing to compromise like other good food takeaways would do to apologize...Never again..

Placed a order at 17:30 only live 8 minutes drive from them...called them at 18:30 and asked where my order was he said traffic...I said your only 8 minutes away from me...his answer to that was..What do you want me to do about it . rude...so said forget it and cancelled my order..he said ok then hung the phone up...not even willing to apologize or compromise like other fast food companies would...first time and last time ..

Don't use this place because they take to long to bring your oder and when you phone them up to find out where you order is the person /owner. Just plays his mouth off at you and dose not said sorry for your order been late he just say it the driver fault for your food as not turnup on time and yyou have to take it up with him. I will not be us using them again

This restaurant has been here for so long, and they are the best. Great value for money, good portions lots of experience, friendly. The only reason why they get 4/5 is because they don't take credit card, cash only but The food is perfect.

Mediocre food. Dry dark egg fried rice could be a lot fresher, soft & fluffier. Often food is over-cooker and over-fried and the sweet & sour sauce tastes more like sour tomato. Sometimes food is ok which shows they could be cooking a lot better.

New to Birmingham, Edgbaston area, walked past there for a few months on my daily commute. After trying various Chinese takeaways, I finally tried New city and love it, don't think I'll be trying another in the area.

My mum and I have ordered from here for years. Always great food and quick delivery. Our favourites are the spring rolls, beef and mushrooms and Singapore fried rice or chow mein. I've moved up north now but always make sure to order when I pop home. Definitely recommend!

Thus is one of those places that doesn't look much from the outside. However, what piqued my interest was that whichever night if the week I drove past this corner takeaway it seemed to have a fair few people queueing to order food. My subsequent visits have revealed the reason why - well made tasty food. I've had perhaps half a dozen meals now from here and each one has been a delight. In particular I'd recommend the salt and pepper chicken for chilli heads - crispy and spicy! Naturally they deliver, but Friday or Saturday nights that can take a good hour to arrive as they're so busy, but we'll worth arrive as midweek indulgence if you don't want to wait too long.

I've been using this takeaway for many years and the quality has always been consistently high. If you live in the Edgbaston area they do a home delivery service and I would highly recommend them.
