Saw through the window that they did pies. We wanted something "simple" with venison. They had a large Venison and cranberry pie ( and some beef burgers for one of us who wouldn't try the venison). Friendly service - offered tips on cooking the pie. The pie itself was just absolutely gorgeous - loads of venison and so so tender. Try it. Beef burgers were great as well.

We were visiting Braemar and stopped off to buy some BBQ supplies. Neil was very friendly on arrival and the venison burgers and venison and black pudding sausages were absolutely delicious (despite the BBQ skills). We also got a bone for the dog who equally enjoyed it. So nice to see a local butcher on the High Street and wouldn't hesitate to visit again if we are in the area.

Thanks to a local friend, I sourced 'wild venison off the hill' for a second festive year. The quality of the meat was excellent and Neil Menzies and his team were so helpful in advising the correct , very lean cut. All communication was prompt via 'Messenger'. Payment was straightforward by bank transfer. My vacuum sealed pack arrived within 48 hours (postal service delayed this year!) securely packaged complete with cool packs. Many thanks.

We stopped in Braemar, Scotland to stretch our legs, do a little sightseeing and find lunch. After all the sit-down meals my traveling partner and I had on this tour, we wanted something easy and hand held. We stopped in Neil Menzies Butchers and there was a whole selection of meat pies at a very reasonable price. The butcher even took the time to heat them for us. They were filling, warm and delicious. Definitely worth a stop if you are tired of restaurant food and want a taste of the local fare.

Brae is close to home, in the village of Chapleton, between Newtonhill & Stonehaven. Popped in just before lunchtime on a Sunday, and received a very warm welcome. I was there to get takeaway goods. Both members of staff encountered were very friendly, and attended to my order in a quick & efficient manner. Hot chocolates and mochas very nice, special praise for the apple crumble cake. Utterly delicious and the dog liked it as well! 😬 Nice decor, it was also very clean. I will happily return again.

We visited this Cafe after a long walk in the forest. Dogs are welcome inside the cafe. Inside there is a log burning stove, which was very welcome, the cafe had a nice rustic feel they do there own baking and my wife described the scone as the best she had. The coffee was lovely. We had visited the Cafe at the Cheese makers across the road which was very nice but had to sit outside with the dog. We will certainly be back here, probably for a lunch next time.

Visited here for Sunday "carvery" whilst staying onsite. Service was excellent by all staff members, however we were expecting a carvery where you help yourself to a selection of roast meats and veg. This wasn't the case it was just a regular Sunday roast prepared in the kitchen and served at your table. The roast itself was very average, the only veg being peas and carrots along with cheap tasting pigs in blankets. This was priced at around £21 pp for 2 courses,I think it was done as cheap as possible. Although the food tasted absolutely fine it was by no means anything other than average and definitely not a carvery.
