Shocking from the waiter who charged us for drinks midway through our meal very bad table etiquette should of waited until after the meal

Freshly cooked food, tasty value for money, as described - no frills healthy options for fussy eaters. Drinks expensive but water available

Although choices were restricted due to demand earlier in the day - staff were clear and helpful in recommending alternatives, which did not disappoint. The salad was fresh, chips hot and the chicken was succulent and tasty. Cheese cake a decent size and as described.

App don’t work if you know it doesn’t work you need to say when we walk in Restaurant like Nando’s customers needs to be told this information not just wait till you sat down to find out yourself it’s not working

We came for food this evening with our Autistic boy. The service was amazing and we were very much looked after by Sam. I was amazed with her knowledge and support. She gave us some sensory toys for our child and offered to turn the music down. What a fantastic lady, Nando’s, you should be so proud of her.

Terrible service. Poorly run, they won’t serve outside tables and make you wait outside rather than using notifications like other Nandos.

Nice food, always hot on arrival and doesn’t usually take long. Good usually arrives at table within 20-30 minutes. Bottomless soft drinks also.

Cheeky Nandos. Always hits the spot. Juicy chicken, lots of tasty sides. It's a huge calorie hit but who cares. Butterfly chicken is my personal favourite. Not cheap mind can cost 15-20 quid depending on options. Everytime I come back to the UK I get a Nandos

Food was OK, toilets clean, table disgustingly sticky so not cleaned properly and the seats at our table were unclean too. I expected better.

Had a takeaway tonight for a birthday meal. Food was lovely except for the garlic bread. Every portion was burned black. No way would it have been acceptable to serve for dine in so why send it out. Shame, everything was super

I visited the Merthyr Tydfil branch for the first time in a few months after going to Nantgarw regularly (We prefer that store). We were greeted by an Asian man with a beard who said “whatsa dudes” which we thought was unprofessional even though he was enthusiastic. Although we didn’t approve of the greeting, the food was fantastic and we will be returning.

Ordered a takeaway from Nando’s last Friday and when I arrived to collect it the tills were down and they were unable to process my order through the normal channels. However, the manager was very professional under extreme pressure and managed to take my order manually, this incurred an additional 20 minute wait but I left with my evening meal where this could have finished with me leaving with nothing so well done to the duty manager that evening, kept the business ticking over until the till came back up - a credit to Nando’s.

Stopped here for an early dinner. It is everything you expect from a Nando’s - it’s good chicken. The restaurant could have done with being a bit cleaner and it has the usual leisure park/fast food restaurant feel.

Perhaps a little expensive for what one received, not large portions really, but tasty nonetheless. Chicken burger, salad & chips was £14 but included bottomless coke. Reasonable comfort, quite large seating area. Fairly quick, friendly service.

I've been to quite a few Nandos restaurants and have to say this was not the worst but certainly not the best. We were seated fairly quickly, well quicker than the 25 minute wait we were told... Bonus! When ordering food I was the only person waiting and stood for 10 minutes while the two staff took phone orders instead. Food came quick but my chicken was very dry. The usual food check didn't come until after we were finished and he disappeared so quickly I didn't even have time to tell him the problem.

Overall a good meal! Tasty food and great friendly service! Good value for money! We will be returning

Nando’s is a good place to eat when your on the move or travelling for work. A great fail safe for everyone. There were 8 of us that went and the service was really quick. Easily accessible as it’s right by the A470 and part of a retail complex so plenty of parking.

As someone who travels around the country for work, Nando's is one of my usual dinner choices in various locations, and more often than not they serve an enjoyable, reasonably priced meal.I recently tried to visit this one in Merthyr, but unfortunately got fed up of standing in the doorway next to the 'Wait here to be seated' sign. A few staff were rushing around but didn't seem to pay much attention to me; there were plenty of tables free and I was the only one waiting.After more than 5 minutes I just left and had a nice meal elsewhere.Shame, seems like the team here are letting down the side. Terrible service.

Expensive!!! I just can't justify £12 for a small bit of chicken! Chips were cold, corn was nice, chicken had clearly been sat around for an hour (it was mid afternoon therefore very quiet). Kids meals..... £6 for food, no drink or dessert included!!!!!! Drinks, OK their refillable but at nearly £3 a glass you'd want to drink 10 glasses!!! Overall a disappointing visit, staff were looking bored and unmotivated, I didn't like the fact they were eating at the food counter, surely the food is for paying guests and not for staff to pick at?!? Expensive and overrated. I won't be going back.

We visited as a family 2 adults and 2 children. We were told there was a 20 minute wait for a table although there were 14 free tables still waiting to be cleared and about 20 people waiting to be seated! When the food arrived it wasn't as nice as usual, we all had butterfly chicken and the chicken was very dry. We visit here regularly and love a Nandos but this is the 2nd visit w have had the same so we wont be going to the Merthyr branch again.

This is a great restaurant. The service was fast. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. The platter is great. Well worth the money.

45 minute wait for a table and then another 45 minute wait for food after we ordered. Ridiculously slow - love Nandos but never been in one this slow at serving the food completely put me off from coming again.

Few things in life make me happier than a Nando’s, any day of the week.

Me and my work colleagues went here a few months back. After placing and paying for our orders. Must of waited about an hour for food. Excluding my colleagues and me might have been about 4 other people there so was quiet. After receiving the food its not really all its cracked up to be. Felt everything was all in spices and herbs and just feel its a glorified KFC. Ridiculously expensive for a bit of chicken

We arranged to meet with friends had not visited before but judging buy the number of people in there and our 30 minute wait I thought it must be good.

I ordered a takeaway for first time and couldn’t believe the price! But we thought it would be worth it only for some of our meal to be missing, and cold chips ( portion sizes were ridiculous).

Visited Nando’s Merthyr Tydfil with my wife, son, future daughter-in-law and grandson for a belated Father’s Day meal on Wednesday and had a great meal. Service was excellent and the staff are very pleasant and efficient. Food was good and everyone enjoyed their meals.

We always pop in to Nandos after going to the cinema next door and as always we are taken to a table which then I go straight up to the counter and order our food and drinks as we always have the same every time! My girlfriend orders the Beanie Wrap with a side of garlic bread and chips whilst I order the Chicken Butterfly Burger with a side of garlic bread and chips. Every time we come to this branch we always feel welcome which keeps making us come back!

You know what your getting when you visit this nandos. Can get very busy, with its location next to the bowling alley and the cinema, but the wait we had wasn’t too long for a table. Food was cooked pretty decent.

Imagine ordering a new car with a nice metallic paint job, electric adjustable seating, panoramic sunroof and self parking only for it to turn up with no wheels. Well we experienced the culinary equivelent.

We called into Nando’s for a late lunch. I had the half chicken with peri peri chips and corn on the cob and my friend had the butterflied chicken breast with the chips and peas. It was hot, tasted good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Always enjoy a nandos - nice hot food - always taste great, staff are very attentive , but it does get very busy on friday evenings

Took my daughter here for food after a great night out at the theatre. Arrived and completed our food order by 10:30pm was told our food would take 15 mins. 30 mins later we were still waiting for our food. I wouldn’t usually be so concerned but when I specifically questioned whether the food would take any longer than 15 mins and I was told 15 mins longest, and it’s so late with a 12 year old. I dont feel this is acceptable. After 30 mins i questioned the lady who had advised our food would take 15 mins how much longer our food would take. We were then given our food by a man who I assume was the manager. Rather than just apologise for the delay, he gave excuses. In addition, the floor space behind the counter was covered in food, disinfectant bottle, and grime. Empty tables had dirty plates and the glasses we were given were dirty ( 2 sets) the water jug we were given was also dirty with yellow bits floating in cloudy water that was taken from the water machine. We obviously didn’t drink the water but made an additional order for cans of iced tea instead. First and last time I will eat at this place! Horrendous!

Lunch time on a rainy Monday. Restaurant wasn't busy and we had never eaten at a Nando's before (never been in a locale that had one).

First visit to a Nandos - and quite likely my last. Shown to a table and left to it, we had to figure out that it wasn't waitress service you have to go to the counter. The food came but we could not hear the waitress over the "background music" that was way too loud for lunchtime when people want to chat. So the food, we had a boneless platter for 2 - very poor value for money, not nice , what a rip. The flush handle in the disabled toilet was broken. Won't be going back.

I got to be honest i love a nandos its quick easy and very tasty. Yet i have had a few shocking meals they are few and far between and i always get a refund or free meal on next visit. Great service clean and good enviroment in the middle of rhydycar

Food of a very average standard, prices are high with portion sizes unacceptable, when management asked about this ,she was argumentative and dismissive, understand this is the norm from nandos, why so many people rate this low grade chain of outlets ,I can't understand. Feel my local kfc offers better value and taste far better.

We eat here quite often and never had any problems with the service or the food, It's always nice & hot and the service prompt. The kids meals are really good value with a drink or dessert included in the price.

We were shown to our table and after 15 minutes we left. No one came to take our food or drink order in that time so we left and went elsewhere. It's was an early Sunday evening, it was quiet and it didn't appear to be under-staff. I've never eaten at Nandos and after this experience I never will.

I'm a resident in Merthyr Tydfil, having visited Nando's restaurant in Merthyr Tydfil for the first time on 19/07/2017 12-30pm. I received poor customer service, but having visited other Nando's restaurants in Cardiff bay and Trafford centre Manchester compared to Merthyr Tydfil Nando's both had excellent service. However it was not the same experience at Merthyr Tydfil Nando's. I was greeted at the entrance by an employee of Nando's with a low key welcome and no instruction how the establishments system works. and where to order, not until I had to ask. Momentarily I was guided to the service order counter to order my food at the service counter. where two more Nando employees were preparing food. I waited for several minutes and continued to wait which seemed an uncomfortable amount of time, no eye contact with me from the two Nando employees. I no longer felt I wanted to stay as I received poor customer care and I was completely put off by the Nando's experience in Merthyr Tydfil. I complained to Nando's online with an unsatisfactory response and no apology. I feel I should warn people of my bad experience at Nando's Merthyr Tydfil and maybe Nando's will improve their employee customer care and employee training, If Nando's company read this review. I hope the Nando's service will improve for the people of Merthyr Tydfil who are spending their hard earned cash and expect to be treated respectfully and with good customer care.

Like Nando's but this is a bit unclean inside and too relaxed, service not really up to scratch puts a downer on the food

I love Nando's. I love how some reviews write that "it's only chicken and chips". What else do you expect??? Very busy friday night, been greeted by a lovely lady who told us it would be 20 mins for a table, it was less than that. Ordered chicken and chips, as you do, they came fairly quickly, hot and tasty, as per usual. Picked my sauces, cutlery, I've been offered a second plate to share my platter with my platter. All in all, really nice, polite and helpful staff, tasty food, free extra sauces, the places was cleaned as soon as they could, bear in mind the restaurant was packed. I love me some Nando's and this is a good branch. Try to save some room for desserts as the gooey caramel cheesecake is to die for. Keep up the good work guys, you are doing great.

My first ever experience here, and if you like chicken its good, if not then your kinda naffed for a decent meal. very expensive for what you actually get, Staff were great though in all fairness

Fab quick food and service. Being a chain you know what to expect, but last weekend the service was extra special due to having 2 wisdom teeth out and the server offering advice on dishes. Our food was delivered exceptionally speedy and fab food. Nando's isn't fine dining but fills a hole

Is there a better place to go than a Nando's when you have children in tow?The service was quick and cheerful. Our waitress warned us that the food might be up to 20 mins to arrive, but it actually reached our table in under 10. Cue silence as we devoured some excellent chicken burgers. Hot for me, mild for them. They then ramped that up with some sauce to dip chips in. I also had the grain thing as a super sized side dish and that was delicious too.Good job.

Thought I would venture out for a little bit of Wednesday night food at my 3rd favourite restaurant chain Nando's. So after looking at the menu (not that I need too) I went to the till to order some food where I was then entertained by the manager who seemed to be making paper chains from till rolls, not sure what was going on but I think the till rolls where getting the better of him. Once the food come out the sweet potato wedges were cremated, the salad was supposed to have avocado as an extra but was forgotten, the tomato ketchup was nearly extinct but fair play to the member of staff who found me two bottles with a little bit sauce at the bottom to salvage, she also sorted me out some sweet potato mash to replace cremated sweet potato wedges. All in all not the best food experience Just to add a bit more entertainment to the evening I think the staff in the kitchen were with having a Greek party or juggling with the pots and pans as it sounded like a few inmates from Leyhill HMP were let loose in the kitchen. And then there cameo of the staff member who thought kicking the bag of rubbish along the floor from the kitchen to the back area would be great idea. Anyway , I will still be back as I don't think I could go with out my weekly Nando's but hey as this Nando's visit wasn't the best a free one next one time wouldn't go a miss

The quality of the food is always really good. Such a relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy any occasion here, the staff are always really promt and kind.

Decided to eat at Nando's before going into the cinema next door. Great food, great service but just couldn't wait to get out the door as the music was so loud! Pity really as other than things were great.

I do love it here but it is expensive. Quick friendly service and tasty food. Butterfly chicken and mash. Desserts are great. Always busy and has a good atmosphere. Located next to Vue cinema in retail park

1st visit to a Nandos restaurant, was staying nearby so gave it a try, not sure what all the fuss was about , not really a restaurant as you have to order at the counter and even get your own cutlery ( which wasn't very clean) food was mediocre and service slow however price was reasonable, won't be rushing back

Nice clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The chicken was really nice along with the chips and coleslaw. The food was brought within a good time frame. Best for an occasional meal as can be quite expensive but would visit again.

visited nandos after pictures on saturday evening. we were seated within a minute or 2, nice young lad showed us to table, we ordered food and waited on it arriving. our starters duly arrived swiftly followed by mains nice attentive service along the way ! finished our mains and ordered deserts again service very good and all staff very polite. however my gripe is this; the portions are ridiculous for the money ? starters i know are only an intro but for cost against portion is expensive with main courses being exactly the same; i had butterfly chicken + 1 x breast halved to look large me thinks ? cost over £10 partner had chicken wrap again 1 x breast cost = £13 + sides are as offered deserts small and costly ! 2 x diet cokes / 2 x starters ( olives and red pepper dip ) / 2 x mains as mentioned / 2 deserts total £ 47.23 !!! sorry to keep beating drum but very polite and good service but food nicely done but very expensive for what you get ?!

Another solid visit to my favourite chicken-specific chain in the UK. Despite waiting longer than usual for food, which could be forgiven due to several large parties of diners being present Sunday evening, I couldn't knock the food itself.Great friendly service from the waitress too, she even apologised for the lack of Butterfly Chicken on previous visits to both Merthyr and Wembley! It's the little touches like that which make all the difference.As per usual, the food itself was packed with taste and leaves me wondering what exactly their recipe is that keeps you coming back for more time and again.Nando's in Merthyr continues to serve as a cool and convenient place to grab something to eat either with friends, family, a date or even as a little business meeting place. Works well too that it's flanked on either side by a Vue Cinema and SuperBowl.

We went for a quick family meal after the cinema. There was no wait to be seated, it was clean and tidy and we were served by a lovely member of staff called Loren who was brilliant. Everyone cleared their plates which is a good sign so would def go again. As nandos go this is def one of the better ones.

Listen. I am not a big fan of Nandos but younger people love it. I was travelling with 15 teenagers so they had the majority as to where we went to eat. I have to say the service was excellent, Tom the manger was superb, welcoming, highly friendly, efficient and generally interested in us even though the place was manic. I still think it's overpriced chicken & chips but the experience was very good. Food was tasty, hot and quickly served. Nothing was to much trouble from the waiting staff. Well done Tom and his team.

This is hands down the worst Nandos I have been to (I have been to about 15), my food got sent back 3 times as my order was not correct. Also the great taste of nandos is spoiled with the overcooking of their food.

Had an awful experience after waiting 40 minutes for our meals when half the place was empty our food finally came after we watched it standing there for 20 minutes. The chicken was completely cold and chips soggy! Just unenjoyable! As basic food hygiene would have taught them, hot food should be kept above 60C until served- which this certainly was not the case! Usually in a nandos, a waiter/dress would come over to ask if all was ok with our meal? Yet this never happened (as I waited to tell them exactly how it was) service was not there at all! Again, I repeat that the place was half empty so there really wasn't any excuse! Unfortunately, after this bad experience we will not be returning to this nandos again!

After watching 'Star Wars' we popped next for a quick bite to eat before heading home. Unfortunately the film was the only good thing in the evening as we waited 36 mins from ordering food until it was delivered to the table, although some of it was on the counter for quite some time before being delivered. A number of the soft drinks were unavailable. On a positive note the staff seemed to be having a good time, just a pity the customers weren't.

Just completed a meal at Nandos, Merthyr Tydfil and all went well.Standard of food was good, service was excellent but the constant noise was really annoying - Seats too close together and the restaurant as a constant din.

I took my daughter and granddaughter to this place before a visit to the theatre. The restaurant wasn't busy and we ordered our meals and paid up front. Once they took our money the waitress completely forgot about us. After about half an hour we were served plates of food which was stone cold. We had actually seen these plates been out on the counter and had been left there for 15 mins before a waitress decided to serve it to us. Disinterested staff and poor management!

This Nandos is close to the Travelodge and does a take say service. Very convenient if staying there with small children or pets which cannot be left.

My daughter wanted me to bring her here as she loves it. I'm really not keen on these kind of food chains but give it a go for her. It was as I expected, over rated. Friendly service from the girl on the till where you had to queue for ages to give your table number. We took our drinks back to the table where I was conscious of the fact I was going to finish my glass of wine before food arrived, not very relaxing as I didn't want to queue again. Our food arrived in half hour. My daughter enjoyed her chicken, my beanie burger was overcooked and quite charred on the one side with a few chips on the side. Conversation was strained as I could not hear anything being said due to the loud music playing in the background, so this ended up with most people in the restaurant shouting across tables to each other. So Very noisy. My daughter wanted dessert so she had to queue once again with another wait for it to be brought over. It will be a very long time....if ever, will I set foot in one of these chains again. Its most certainly a place for the youngsters to come who don't mind waiting and waiting!! Its probably the same in every Nandos, not just this one.

You are guaranteed good food in a Nando's restaurant and this was no exception.The staff were very courteous and helpful and although you don't usually linger too long you still feel you have had a restaurant experience.

Been here loads of times with mates, brought my mum yesterday, Sunday lunchtime. Lovely friendly staff, really good food. Minor criticism the sweet potato wedges were cooked but cold on the plate when they arrived. Everything else was very good.

Have eaten here hundreds of times and have never had bad service or poor food. Its a chain so you know exactly what you are getting. Always clean and welcoming

Had to wait 15 minutes for a table for two on a busy Saturday night, but that was to be expected, so we didn't mind. After being seated and then placing our order, our food came quite quickly, but ended up being a bit of a shambles. The chicken we had each ordered was correct, but some of the sides were incorrect or missing, plus we had to send back the macho peas, as they were really hard. The waitress quickly offered to give us the side we were missing immediately without any fuss, or without removing the one we hadn't ordered either. Plus she had no qualms in removing the macho peas and getting us a fresh one, when which it came, was very nice! All the food we had was very tasty, and we both enjoyed it. Only other thing was that it was gone 9pm, and it was a bit chilly, as the staff were keeping the main front door open. When we asked them to shut it, they obliged straight away. A bit of a mixed evening, but could not fault the great customer service shown by a couple of the waitresses that night. Well done, and will definitely return.

We came here a few weeks ago as its our local Nando's, only to be told that half the things we ordered weren't available. No avocado in the avocado salad, no quinoa in the quinoa salad, we ordered a starter of olives, paid for them but the waitress arrived a few minutes later to say they had run out of those too. It was a Tuesday night so it wasn't even a busy night. Extremely badly managed if the manager can't be bothered to check stock levels!

Brought my daughter here for her birthday all i can say is that its an over priced kfc,i want to state that there is nothing wrong with the food but £11 for a tiny chicken breast and chips nearly £4 for a glass of wine the management need to remember they are a fast food outlet don't think I will be back

Waiting 35 minutes for an order is NOT ACCEPTABLE!! All we wanted was some livers and a full platter, and what we got was an afternoon wasted on the take away bench. When we got home the food was COLD, the chicken DRY, and NO SAUCE with the livers. We were offered free sides as apology, but how long would that have taken?!!?!? The sides we did receive were DRY AND MINISCULE! Hard, choking garlic bread slices and a quarter of a box of LUMPY mash!!DO NOT GO TO THIS TAKE AWAY FOR FOOD, UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO WAIT A LONG TIME FOR YOUR ORDER!!!!

Visit regularly. Great food.. Especially mango and lime butterfly chicken!! Average meal and drink costing £12/13. Right next door to cinema and other restaurants. Lots of parking too

Visited this restaurant for my nephew's birthday. Chicken was out of this world served up by very friendly waitresses. Highly recommended.

Visited today. Speedy service, friendly staff and food was cooked to perfection. Beautiful! Very good value for money and you cant go wrong with the unlimited soft drinks refil!

Our last experience was good quick service edible food and reasonable price. Unfortunately the latest experience was not so good. Food is expensive for low cost ingredients, they are keen to get you out as four different girls asked if we had finished when we were still half way through our meal. They do not follow up their customer feed back forms which would have avoided a post on tripadvisor generally would not recommend to families looking for good value eateries.

Attend this nandos on a regular basis. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Told there was a five minute wait but was seated straight away. Excellent service and a very short wait for food which tasted great. Definitely recommend this restaurant, never fails t impress.

I really love nandos it's not gourmet food but it's always really nice and have lots of choices for different levels of spice!!! Staff are always friendly and helpful. I do think the prices can be a little expensive but it doesn't stop me going and they also have a children's menu which my two love!

My wife, 2 adult sons and myself visited Nando's on the spur of the moment for my wife's birthday, it was mid week. It was very full but the Service was good, food was good and reasonable, drinks a bit expensive. It's a mix of restaurant and fast food but good. Atmosphere was lively and friendly.

Went here after hearing the good comments. Found my order to be cold so when I complained the person who claimed he was the manager came over and was as rude as can be. Got vouchers from he'd office who couldn't apologise enough but my honest opinion is my night was spoilt by bad food and worse service. I hope it was an isolated incident.

We visited Nando's last night on a rare evening off and had a really nice meal. The service was very friendly and the food arrived promptly (but we were never made to feel rushed). The food was well prepared and presented and tasted good. The price is reasonable although 'slightly' high in my opinion (starter, main and 1 drink each for 2 was £37).The only negatives I can really offer are that the "self-service" cutlery had quite a few dirty pieces with dried food still on them so I had to sort through about half a dozen knives to find a couple of clean ones. The other negative (which is obviously down to personal preference) is that the music is played too loud. I will definitely be returning in the future though.

We regularly visit Nando's in Merthyr before going to the Cinema next door and have never been disappointed. The staff are fantastic; friendly, efficient and nothing is ever too much trouble. We are always seated quickly and the food is hot, there is plenty of it and it tastes great! The restaurant is always very clean and tables are cleared quickly with the staff checking if there is anything else they can do/get for you. Big thank you to the staff who are fab and always make it an enjoyable experience!
