Morrisons Walsall - Wallows Lane Cafe in Walsall

Very disappointing experience. Everything was geared towards self-service; when customers were waiting at the counter, it took ages for a staff member to show their face. The hot drink machine (again you serve yourself) stopped working due to an error message about the milk needing replacing - we couldn’t see any staff to get anyone’s attention for several minutes which was ridiculous. All hot drinks came with free refills which was decent. Cakes in the chilled cabinet were not covered, which was unhygienic. Tables and floors were not clean - I had to wipe our table myself with one of my own antibacterial wipes which I carry. Cutlery was dirty and there were no napkins - shoddily replaced with some blue roll!! Had to ask for sauces when the food came as the Sauce Police only permit you to have 2 sachets with each meal, but there are none in sight so you can’t even help yourself to your rationed sachets! Jacket potato was barely lukewarm and the butter was missing. Chips weren’t hot either and my ‘garden peas’ were disgusting and verging on inedible. Garlic bread was fairly nice, but tasted cheap. Omelettes were okay. As mentioned, this lunch was very disappointing due to the multitude of reasons outlined. It’s also a ridiculous rule that you can only have 2 hours’ parking - difficult to fit in doing a food shop AND having lunch at Morrisons (or the Costa on site which is much better) within so little time. Morrisons cafe seems to have gone downhill, as I remember it being decent several years ago. From this recent experience, unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Terrible store. Cafe used to be great but slowly gone downwards. Waiting times long and food mediocre. Groceries section gone down as they have got rid of their best staff who have been there for over 20 years.

Popped in for porridge barely anything in the bowl and not cooked properly hard oats swimming in milk disgusting also took ages to come out.

Massive price increase for no value for money. The sausage meat didn’t fill the skin awful the skin could actually be a choking hazard for children. Bacon uncooked . Plate filled with beans to make it look more back to weather spoons for me

We love costa and always try new ones, unfortunately this was t a great experience. The store looks amazing bright new clean but that’s where the positives end. We were served by Mollie and her customer service is really lacking she was abrupt and rude. We asked for toast with flora and she replied “we do t do flora “ which to me seems silly as they offer so many vegan and alternate foods and drinks but only butter as a spread !!!!!!! No apology, no alternate offered. The drinks were only Luke warm, I didn’t feel from Mollies initial reaction we could go back and complain. We won’t be back, what a shame ! First impressions really do matter !

Dropped a friend off nearby so I thought I’d pop in for breakfast. Spent ten minutes at the machine at the cafe entrance trying to order a full English breakfast with a large latte. Bypassed by numerous customers who were obviously in on the joke that the machine did not work but which I did not realise until I pressed the confirm order button and had to start over again (several times until the penny dropped). Having surrendered and gone to the till I ordered a full English breakfast (choosing the poached egg option) and a large latte. “Don’t do a large latte”. Okay, I amended my order to a normal latte. Having paid for my choices and being surprised that Dick Turpin was alive and well and setting prices in Walsall I collected my cutlery and was surprised at the cruet for salt that Morrisons provided. I’ve seen better salt dispensers on oil rigs in a Singapore harbour. As I sat there awaiting my order and cleaning my cutlery my plate arrived. Insipid beans, sausages that looked like they’d been boiled dry last Friday and among other things what appeared to be a rubber fried egg, also cooked about the same time as the sausages and forgotten on the side in the kitchen. I was surprised by the handful of frozen chips but that was explained by the cook “We haven’t got any hash browns so I’ve give yer some chips”. I contemplated the rubber fried egg. Having spent several minutes trying to attract the cook/server’s attention i walked back to the counter and managed to ambush the said cook/server. Showing her my plate I asked “Is this egg poached?”. “Yes” was the reply. I think she detected the sarcasm in my voice when I said “Really” and poked the solid object with my finger. She promised to sort it out and two minutes later she collected my plate and disappeared into the kitchen with it. Another few minutes later and she reappeared with my plate, five minutes colder but this time with a half hearted warmish poached egg on the plate. Gordon Ramsay, eat your heart out
