Went here today for a catch up meal. Food was ok at a reasonable price, £15 for two courses. Very comfortable seating and good service. Easily accessible by public transport in the heart of Motherwell.

Very good location, convenient and free parking, large room, very kind staff, comfortable bed. The restaurant is good. Small downside: toilet stuck to the wall on one side, difficult to install there. The bathroom is narrow. The rest is so good that I leave 5 stars!

Did not stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms. However recently had a bereavement and the professional service and attention to detail from the staff in assisting us with organising a bereavement lunch, our initial meeting where we were shown round the lovely bright airy room and their assurance that everyone would be catered for, the speed and seemingly effortless way in which they set up an extra table and catered for everyone after we had underestimated the number of people coming back. The food was excellent. The Moorings and the staff made what was a difficult time for the family so much easier.

We recently held our Ruby Wedding celebration in the Ormiston Suite at Moorings Hotel, Motherwell. The staff were fantastic. From our initial enquiry right through to the day of our lunch, nothing was too much trouble for them. The function room was beautifully set up for us, the service was first class and the food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and so did all our guests. Thank you.

As always we had a wonderful stay, the room was lovely, we had an upgrade to a superior room, the breakfasts were plentiful and very tasty, the staff as always were exceptional and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We come to Scotland to see family quite regularly and always stay here as we feel very comfortable and at home.

The first issue was having to carry our pretty heavy luggage up two full flights of stairs. To be fair, the lady who checked us asked us several times if we needed help; which we refused. The room is pretty strange, like going to stay with your grandparents. The TV in this room is extremely small for this room. The beds are on some sort of wheels that move almost too much, and one needs to be careful not to lean on them too much as they may shoot out beneath you. My husband asked for a king-size or twin size room for us, having knee surgery not that long ago, and I need extra room, so we got a room with two twin beds. Finally, there are no water bottles in the room with the tea service set as we are used to, and i think we had to actually pay for water. One of the windows is broken and looks like it's leaking. The heater system is rather confusing to use and we didn't see any instructions to use. We asked for additional pillows twice and once was ignored and had to call again only to be told sorry there are no pillows in the entire hotel. I had to use one of the seat cushions with the flat pillow case to sleep on. Really??? Most likely, I'm sorry to say that I will not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again.

A neat hotel with very friendly staff and parking in front of the door. However, the single room left much to be desired, small, not completely clean, tears in the duvet. The friendly and courteous service and the good breakfast make up for a lot.

My husband and I stayed in Room 54 while visiting friends for a function. A superior room with everything we needed. The room was so clean and great that the heating was easily adjustable. Despite being beside a main road it was so quiet at night and so dark. A brilliant nights sleep. Staff were so attentive and nice. The vegetarian full breakfast was absolutely delicious as were the options of fruit, juices etc

What a lovely hotel, staff were brilliant. Breakfast was hot or cold buffet and good choice, we were in a large group and all arrived for breakfast at same time and we had to wait for some hot food but staff were helpful and soon sorted, no one went hungry. Lovely dinner for a reception we held and once again the food was excellent, served quickly. Very professional. Think some had a shortage of hot water for showers one morning but we were ok.

Stayed here the night after my wedding all was good apart from when you go to the ground floor and walk to the bar the smell of weed/ Cannabis would knock you over I think cheech or Chong maybe work in the kitchen that said I did enjoy my breakfast which I put down to having the munchies. It's stinking think someone might want to look into it .

Rooms small, not much room if staying for a few nights, lack of storage space. Mattress in our room well past it's sell by date, lumpy, dip in the centre not comfortable at all. Biggest grip with this hotel is the price difference when booking direct with the hotel and Best Western Hotels offers, which the hotel says they can not offer direct when booking. Having to preorder breakfast and state what time you want it served is another big no no, I thought this only happened at cheap B & B guest houses. Overall not a great experience there must be better hotels in the area.

Excellent service. Stayed for four nights. Very comfortable rooms. Excellent room service. Just ring up reception and you are helped straight away. The meals were tasty and have carnivore, vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast included in the bed and breakfast cost. Breakfast is very generous with eat as much as you like continental breakfast. The rooms were very clean and you get tea and coffee and biscuits included in the cost of the room. It is a really nice hotel. I would recommend it.

So pleased with my stay here I'm leaving this before checkout. Through work I stay in the area on a regular basis and for variety have been switching hotels so have stayed at most of them in the area. For a 3 star hotel the Moorings is exceptional; the food is delightful with plenty of variety both at breakfast and throughout the day. Portion size is spot on and it's excellent value. The rooms are clean and tidy and well equipped, my bed was awesome and I had the best nights sleep. I won't be switching hotels any longer. I can walk here from the station and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere the staff provide and be very well catered for. Thank you to all the team here.

I stayed here for 8 days as a base for exploring Glasgow and some local Motherwell stuff because my father lived in the town until he was 12. I thought the Moorings looked like a cool place from the pictures I found in my hotel search but it was better than I expected. It's an interesting older building that retains much of its original character on the outside. The inside is mostly a fairly "modern" and well maintained hotel. I had a room with two twin beds, which were comfortable and on wheels for anyone wondering like I was. The room was pretty large compared to more modern places and had everything necessary. My only complaint would be the shower. The tub is on something that raises it about 8"-10" above normal. You have to step over a maybe 16"-18" wall to get in or out so I worried a lot about my 79 year old father using it because it was tricky for even me and I'm fit and 42. I'm not sure if all rooms have showers like this but if it would be a problem, I would be sure to double check. The staff in the restaurant were amazing and were a huge part of what made it a great place to stay. They were super friendly and knew exactly what we needed without even having to ask. If you're visiting Glasgow and don't want to stay in the city for whatever reason, the Moorings is perfect. It's only 15-20 minutes by train to Glasgow central and Motherwell station is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Trains seem to come every 10-20 minutes even off peak. The Moorings restaurant has good food but is a little expensive when compared to other options nearby. The continental breakfast was a decent value with more options than typical. The coffee was great when we learned you can ask for cream, something rarely seen in the UK. We didn't even get a strange look for asking for it like we did any other time. The wonderful staff really made all the difference. I hope hotel management knows what they have in those two and I'm sure it's obvious which two I am mostly referring to. I should have gotten names but I'm terrible that way.

Spacious with bed, wardrobe, 2 desks, separate chair and small table. Clean and well-organised bathroom. Friendly staff. Breakfast and dinner were good with a nice selection. Good-sized car park. Oh my God! They were the best goddam pizzas I have tasted in a very long time. No cardboard pre-made bases. Rolled and stretched fresh dough made in front of you. Toppings we're incredible. Actually looked like a proper Italian pizza, and tasted like one. I bet this place gets super busy.I got lucky tonight but I would expect to order in advance in future. You don't find many little gems like this very often. These beat the hell out of ANY pizza parlour in Airdrie or any of these multi-cuisine takeaways. I can't wait to go back. Truly amazing, well done ! Reading the review just before mine made me chuckle about better pizza from an Indian takeaway. 1. No real Indian takeaways in Airdrie 2. Indian restaurants are hardly renowned for making Italian food. 3. Probably never experienced a fresh dough pizza.

Visited with friends for dinner. ALL agreed this was a fantastic dining experience. 75% of our party chose from the Asian Menu while 25% from the European Menu. Both menus provided an extensive choice of dishes to satisfy any palate. The chosen starters comprised 3 Pakoras, chicken, prawn and vegetable. Beautifully prepared and Presented, quite excellent. The mains comprised Chicken Tikka, Lamb Biryani, Kashmiri Chicken Korma, Punjabi Chicken and Steak Pie, again ALL wonderfully prepared and presented. Accompaniments comprised Boiled Rice, Chapatis, Nan Bread and Peshwari Nan. What a feed was had by all. Beers wine and soft drinks complemented the food. Highly Recommended. A further visit imminent.

Hard to say but the food here is so lacking, the venue is full of classy surroundings and settings (conveniently close to home) but the food is just lazy. The starters was prawns..just over done and full of smoked paprika, mines was belly pork, just far too fatty in proportion to eat, accompanied by just cubed black pudding?? lazy. The mains to keep it short was dry chicken, smelly monk fish and tough so much that could be fixed. Im holding back as I do love the rest of the place.
