Busy on a grey Sunday afternoon. Good atmosphere.

We had food in the bar and it was nice to see some redecoration. We were lucky enough to get the table in front of the fire. The food was nice and we like the relaxed atmosphere but it felt like everything was an effort for the staff.

A great pub with traditional decor and style, we ate great fish and chips and very good Haggis Nuggets. Pleasant staff, a truly great experience in the beautiful town of Tobermory!!

If you visit Tobermory you have to visit the Mishnish.

We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant - scallop, mussels and sticky toffee pudding were all delicious. The staff made an extra effort as we were celebrating a special birthday :)

We had a fabulous plate of fish and chips and a bowl of dog food for our furry friend. Light friendly conversation which made us feel very welcome. Ruby (the boxer pippy) says thank you for her snack.

This establishment had a great vibe, and I enjoyed popping in for a drink whilst we waited for our ferry sailing.

Can't comment on the rooms because we didn't stay there but the food in the restaurant was terrific. We had oysters, scallops, fish & chips and the poached pear, and all were great.

Very warm establishment with a good atmosphere and great service. The food here is excellent and very reasonably priced. The fish & chips were the best we had in Scotland because of the quality fish.

One of the best looking, most traditional pubs ive been in - Loved it and the food was great. But, the pints were shocking.. drank there two nights and every Tennents had a massive head on it that you’d have to scrape off and was always a bit warm. The Guinness had a lot of bubbles sitting at the top every time also, its meant to be smooth!

Everyone recommended us the Mish for a nice night out. We didn't try the food but definitely enjoyed the drams and the music sessions! Staff was lovely too!

Great place to eat on the harbour. Very beautifully decorated. Food was delicious. We were a party of 6. We ordered a variety of dishes all were very tasty. Spiced crab, Steak and Panacotta were my choice. All were absolutely yummy. Good service.

Was looking forward to our stay at the Mishnish. Sadly disappointed and wish we had paid more attention to other customer reviews. On arrival we had to wait until an unwelcoming member of staff eventually came to check us in. Had 2 rooms on 1st floor which looked great on arrival. Sadly the wooden bed in the front room was unsafe and during the night collapsed. This resulted in lack of sleep and both trying to rest in a sunken bed. Helpful junior staff member tried to resolve our concern by offering a discount which we were not satisfied with. The manager came in early to meet us and after discussion waived the room cost, as we had not received the expected level of service and no bed! Comments like "that is one of our stronger beds" and "that bed was ok when I made up the room a few days ago" were not helpful. Food was ok for our evening meal in the ground floor restsurant. Our sole and lobster was ok. Again our experience of staff was disappointing. The staff were keen for us to leave before offering dessert and when we asked for the dessert menu seemed irritated. The hotel prices are quite high considering the very mediocre service that is provided. The hotel is only dog friendly in specific rooms and main noisy bar. Dogs cannot join owners in restaurant for dinner or breakfast. Hotel is in a lovely position in the town and could be a great hotel with a more welcoming and customer focussed approach. Sad experience and would not recommend. Plenty of other options in town.

A welcome find on a mizzly day in Tobermory. Friendly staff and reasonably priced menu. Only criticisms are the very small round tables. We had to use two for the four of us. Also, we weren’t really fans of the fairly loud country music being played.

The Pub is by far the best option for dining in Tobermory (quality and price). Excellent mussels marinière. Warm, family atmosphere. Friendly service. A little crowded but still possible to find a table with a little patience. Worth the detour.

I'd have gladly spent another £100 in this iconic pub had it not been for the ignorant blonde barmaid who seemed to take pleasure in her resentfulness of visitors. I wasn't asking for a red carpet or anything, just a shred of politeness.

Agree wholeheartedly with recent reviews regarding service. The blonde barmaid is very unwelcoming and would be better off in a different line of work. Never seen her muster a smile. Very disappointing as this is a nice little pub with reasonable prices.

Dreadful service, attitude with a capital A from rude, ignorant staff wearing hoodie, leggings and hair tied up. She was grumpy, miserable and had such a negative attitude it’s a wonder I didn’t explode as she spoke to me as I went to sit at a seat to order lunch for 6 of us. Get rid of her and make this a far more welcoming place.

First we had a good meal and then watched football in the pub.

Ideal pub to have a beer and eat something. We didn't sleep in the hotel.

Just had dinner in the restaurant. Chips were completely burnt, and we couldn't eat most of them. Service has been very poor: we warned staff about allergy requirements, mentioned that it is serious. Still received dangerous food on the plate, asked "no ice" and got a glass with the ice. Nobody asked if everything was okay with the food. When we complained about the burned chips, the waitress just laughed as we told a joke. There is no respect for customers at all.

We had dinner in the restaurant just over 2 weeks. We both had the Cullen Skink, which while it didn't look great tasted good. Followed by the scallops as a main, scallops were fine but our vegetable sides were meh! However the waiter, who seemed to be doing nearly all the jobs in the restaurant was visibly ill, sweaty, sniffing and coughing. It was very off putting. They were clearly short staffed and turned away customers despite having lots of empty tables. I wish now that we hadn't booked and had been turned away, as we caught Covid here, most likely from the waiter. This is the problem of the service industry where staff are low paid and often made to work even when ill. I wish we had left after we noticed how I'll he was.

Ate at bar 5/28/24. Service very slow, and cool when delivered after 2nd request Ate in dining room 5/29/24. Food was not as ordered and EVERY part of service was slow & surly. Poorest experience so far in 6 wk trip!

Good food good beer and friendly service

If I was rating just the pub I'd give it 5 stars. The pub has a terrific atmosphere. I have celiac and was able to get an excellent gluten free beer here on tap. The main reason we came here is it came up as a great option for gluten free food. So we stopped in the pub, enjoyed a pint and all the patrons around us looked like they were enjoying themselves with food and drink. Things went downhill when we went into the restaurant. The waitress was RUDE. Zero hospitality on an island where tourism is their main industry. We weren't given glasses yet a bottle of water was dropped at our table. We sat and waited for close to 15 minutes before we were properly greeted. I used the restroom while we were waiting and all I could hear was the waitress complaining and bitching about everything. It was a terrible impression and very negative energy. The food was decent. Nothing spectacular. The Cullen Skink was gluten free and tasty. Our order of oysters were brought out wrong and then over charged. We went back a few days later to try and give it another chance but just the pub. Unfortunately when we got there they were out of mussels, which was the main thing we went back to eat. Every other shop in Tobermory had mussels that day but the Mishnish. We had another excellent gluten free pint and took our business elsewhere.

Good pub for pub grub or posh meal in the restaurant. Very busy so make sure you book however our food was nice and my wife's was even better after it had been returned to the kitchen for a bout in the microwave. The waitress apologised and gave us free drinks so all dealt very well. Would definitely go again.

I really had high hopes for this place after eating at another nearby restaurant that was stellar. I was terribly disappointed. The serving staff was nice enough. We got our table and food quickly, but the food was, sadly, atrocious. We got the seafood stew, which was flavorless, and the fish tasted like it had been microwaved from frozen. Not fresh at all! They seriously need to revisit their menu and taste their own food because having a meal this bad in a town this beautiful really spoils the experience.

Decided to stop for Lunch had it in the bar, small but good menu I had the soup of the day thick sweet potato and a nice touch of chilli. Partner had a Huge portion of fish and chips very fresh, lovely Tartare sauce. I had the Fish pie and salad, prawns and salmon inside loads of potatoes and cheese very filling and Jarl Beer really hits the spot, Staff super friendly and even spoke to few regulars great atmoshere.

Went in for bite to eat and proper beer. Got both had the Mishnish Ale - class and the Mishnish Fish Pie with Sticky Toffee pudding for £16 - absolute bargain. 10/10

We stayed next door for a week, good beer, nice atmosphere and pleasant helpful staff. Bar food was good. The meal we had in the restaurant was disappointing with indifferent staff, MUCH better restaurant food and service at the Galleon, along the road

We walked down here for dinner from Tobermory campsite. We had steak frites and burger which were both great. We managed quite a few pints each which helped with the walk back up the hill. Dog friendly, quite a few dogs.

Cracking bar with friendly staff, beautiful food and a wide range of local beers and whisky. The real deal.

Only called for a drink. Its popular with the locals ,a good sign for any pub, but the choices are limited to be fair. The atmosphere was good the service and the drinks were fine. Right in the heart of Tobermory there is the lovely harbour outside. We would go again.

Well more squally than stormy, but the point is that, on a wet and windy day, we went into the Mish and were welcomed by a fired up log burner and friendly bar staff. Our old beagle was immediately provided with a bowl of water by the time we had sat down with our drinks. We ordered fish pie and pepperoni pizza. Both were excellent. The fish pie was nice and cheesy, appropriately fishy, and the pizza was stone-cooked, generous and tasty. I have to say that some recent reviews on this site were off-putting to the extent that we didn't enter the pub with any great enthusiam. We were delighted that those reviewers were, in our opinion, proved unreasonably wrong.

If I believed previous reviews I wouldn’t have touched it with a barge pole! We decided to try it as the food reviews were quite good and we were interested to experience the ‘Basil Faulty’ type of service. However, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and the food was delicious! Don’t believe everything you read!

We finally left after waiting an extreme amount of time. The bar tenders wanted to talk to locals and the locals made it clear that they came first.

Restaurant ist unmittelbar an der Hafenstraße gelegen mit Blick auf den Hafen. Wir hatten als Vorspeise Crab Stack, also kaltes kann vielleicht mit einer Zitronen – Chili – Koriander-Sauce und danach als Hauptgericht, beziehungsweise Heilbutt. Alles war sehr lecker, wirkte frisch. Bedienung war freundlich und umsichtig. Der Nachtisch mit Mousse au Chocolat mit Whisky schmeckt sehr interessant.

Appalling experience. Unpleasant, unkind, uninspiring staff. Front of house was uninterested, borderline unkind. Food was great. Thank you chef. Music was bizarre, out of context mix of punk, grime and acid house. In a quaint seafood restaurant serving families and retirees. I love all music, skate punk included. It just doesn’t belong in a restaurant. The food and kitchen staff deserve better.

Pub is nice but with poor beer selection. The restaurant however was shockingly bad - appallingly rude waiter who rolled his eyes at any request. Food was fine but would never eat here again due to the service.

Our visit didn’t start off well, the staff were unfriendly and there were lipstick marks on the wine glasses, but we decided to order food anyway. The food was absolutely delicious, mussels in particular can be recommended. The attitude of the staff improved over the course of the meal and we left with a more positive experience.

Service was very good, friendly bar staff, pub atmosphere very nice. We had starters (haggis), mains (prawns, chicken burger, beef burger) and puddings (sticky toffee pudding, ice cream, panna cotta), all of which were good.

Had a nice beer with friends then asked for 3 Gaelic or Irish Coffees. Bar tender said "we can do them but we are too busy for that". ?? Too busy to satisfy a customer asking for product they sell? Well we walked to other end of village and were gladly served by busy staff at another establishment. No fuss! Pretty poor for a pub that prides themselves in how well known it is. I for one won't visit it again.

Stopped in here as there weren’t many bars in Tobermory. Looks quaint from outside but once inside it’s very dark, dirty and grubby, stayed for one drink didn’t eat due to dirtiness.

The service was appalling. We cleared the table ourselves from the previous occupancy. They were busy which we expected, but getting a drink from the bar took an age. We ordered food and waited a good hour. Tables coming in after us we’re getting their orders before us. A couple with 2 small children had waited nearly an hour and eventually the children’s meals arrived. The parents meals took another 10 minutes to come and the chips were lukewarm. When our meal arrived (haddock and chips & steak pie) chips were lukewarm pastry pre- cooked and cold. Not a good experience which was a shame.
