I always like to read reviews but not really one for writing them. However, this place is so good I feel I must. A visit to see our son in Kingston is never complete unless we have been to Mimosa. We accidentally fell on this little place a year or so ago and used it as a coffee shop. However it’s so much more than that. We went in yesterday to share a bottle or two of delicious Portuguese wine which turned into a lovely Portuguese meal as well. Hoping to return today before we depart for home to have coffee and cake. It’s such a lovely place with very friendly, extremely knowledgeable staff who are always eager to please. Karen

Wonderful, friendly, family run, hidden gem. Best coffee in the area, good choice of well-priced Portugese wines and spirits. Authentic Portugese food..... and if you like cakes, do not look any further.

Stopped here for coffee & cake, came away wishing we lived nearer! The most beautiful selection of freshly made cakes, pastries, sandwiches & treats. The staff were wonderful, so warm & welcoming. It is a lovely little deli with seating, authentic/relaxed atmosphere. The cakes were...out of this world. A huge array with delicious flavour combinations. Great coffee and chilled juices - just like being on holiday! There is true heart here; this place is simply perfect.

I've been here a number of times and the staff are always incredibly friendly, the food is delicious and the coffee is the best I've had in Kingston. It's also the perfect place to pick up wine and other foods, which are always high quality and make perfect gifts. I would particularly recommend trying the pastel de nata, if you are here! Can not recommend it highly enough!

Beautiful coffee house. The place is so much more than that it sells some great Portuguese products from alcoholic spirits, wine and produce. We went in simply there for herbal tea and were made to feel so welcome. The owner brought over a selection of almonds / raspberries for us to sample. Take my advice and try it.

"Karl" and I stumbled across this hidden gem whilst looking for somewhere else! It's tucked away in the Griffin Centre, just off Kingston Market Place. It's a cafe-cum-shop, so you can browse for sardines and Portuguese wine whilst waiting for your food. We particularly loved sitting on the high stools by the window, and watching the passers-by. We both had a bowl of wonderfully gloopy soup, a chicken pie, and a lemonade, and the bill was about £11 each. Mimosa's vibes are very good. We'll be back. Dr Paul Harris

My dad and I visited today for the first time. Dad found Mimosas on a Google search of places to have lunch and was taken by all the great reviews. This place was lovely inside with a deli like feel and the food we had was delicious. Highly recommend any of the croquettes but I think my favourite was the cheese and cumin and you really must have the custard tart to finish!

We met mum and a friend for lunch. My husband loved his pork and fava dish with rice. I had salt cod and mum and our friend had traditional custard tarts we had a couple of other goodies on the table all washed down with a really lovely dry Portuguese white. Super lunch and friendly service in a lovely setting. Will definitely be going back, I fancy trying the platter next time

Probably can't really be described as hidden but Mimosa is a real gem. We had a selection of artisan sandwiches, savoury croquettes (Portuguese style) and pastries. Everything was home made and delicious. The coffee was outstanding. The deli has some great wine and lots of interesting products from Portugal; we bought some as gifts for the family. We were visiting on holiday fro Ireland but if I lived in Kingston (or London!¬), I'd be here every week. The owner was very helpful and working very hard on his own when we visited.

In the UK it's hard to find such a good Portuguese coffee shop; most are average but these folks really put an extra effort into their cakes, pasties and food in general. The array of deli products is also varied and of very good quality. We went in late November so they also had Bolo Rei (Portuguese Christmas cake) which is by far one of the best I've ever had (which I'm told they bake from scratch).

Great service from Roxi and Brandon, very kind and polite. However I do not appreciate being glared out by a man who I was told was a director whilst I eat my food. As a pregnant woman this was a very uncomfortable environment from me and I do not feel comfortable coming back to mimosa or any restaurants owned by the same brand

Based on the reviews we came here on Wednesday. Coffee and hot chocolate were excellent but the custard tart was the best that I have ever had. It had just come out of the oven. The owner was very welcoming. There are plenty of goodies to purchase as well. I much prefer to support local businesses.

We hadn't found a really good place for a pit stop in Kingston but we have now. Thought we would try Mimosa as it is Portuguese and would have lovely nata tarts such as we had in Madeira earlier in the year. They did indeed look lovely but we were tempted instead by the array of very interesting and different cakes on offer on the counter. We all had something different and they were all absolutely delicious. Apparently there would be a new selection to choose from the next day! Just as well we don't go to Kingston often as we will now never go anywhere else for our excellent coffee and cake. Friendly service and a more relaxed atmosphere than in the chain coffee shops completed a great experience. Do try it for yourself.

Popped in for a coffee and cake yesterday morning and wish there was a cafe like this where I live. Coffees were lovely and very good price compared to some of the other cafes we tried while visiting. My brother loves their pastel de nata, while I tried their almond tart which was soo delicious, I wish I had their receipe! :) My mum had the coconut tart and I had a taste - it was light, fluffy & moist - can't wait to visit my brother again so I can try more of their lovely bakes!

I stumbled upon Mimosa whilst wandering around Kingston and what a find! A really friendly Portuguese cafe which sells the most incredible, fresh pastel de nata. Lots of sweet and savoury alternatives which the owner is always ready to talk about. Lovely coffee also. Great Portuguese food and wine on sale to take away. It’s down the lane between Patisserie Valerie and Laura Ashley, and is well worth a walk across the Market Place. Stay away from the chains and support local by visiting Mimosa. You won’t be disappointed!

Staying with some friends who took us here for lunch; seriously impressed by this excellent delicatessen. This was by far the most authentic Portuguese food I've had in the UK and reasonably priced as well, with very friendly service. Excellent pastel de nata, empadinhas, and coffee. I made home with loads of charcuterie for some Med-inspited cooking. A great local deli.

I went to the Queens Head last night with my wife and our two close friends for their Thursday steak night, which we have had before and always raved about it to our friends but now we were there with them. Last night though the whole meal was just delicious we ordered 2 Steak De Boufes to share with our better half’s both medium rare, with thick cut chips, large mushroom and grilled tomatoes and peppercorn sauce, I had mash instead of chips. The steaks were just incredible, I love steak and these were as good as any I have had before at either Gouchos or Argentinian steak house. But as it was steak night we got a free bottle of red wine per couple. I asked the manager Eleanor for a bottle of their fantastic Malbec, but she suggested we try a bottle of Chateau Musar, a beautiful red Lebanese wine. My friend who is a bit of a wine boff started to get very excited at the thought of this and when it came well let’s say it was like Christmas morning! The wine was incredible and accompanied the steak so well it was delicious. So for just £65 per couple we had this amazing Steak De Boufe with a bottle of outstanding red wine. Thank you to the fantastic chef and to the amazing and brilliant manager Eleonar for an unbelievable meal. We will all be back very soon Peter & Emma Greenwood
