Mill Restaurant at La Mon Hotel in Castlereagh

Stayed at this hotel 11january. Room was clean and comfortable and the bottle of Prosecco was very welcome. After a swim in the spa dinner in the Mill Restaurant was fantastic and very well priced. Staff were courteous and attentive. We ended the evening in Charlie’s bistro where there was the entertainment was excellent. All in all great value for money.

Impressive selection available for the Sunday Carvery and the chef on the meat counter was very friendly and helpful,service with a smile....well done.Meats were moist and tender the best i have eaten in ages and they are not stingy with the portions either.Nice touch the chap on the grand piano providing the background music and as we were the nearest table even asked if to loud to let him know.

Decidí invitar a mi familia a la carnicería navideña en La Mon en 2018: todos disfrutamos muchísimo el día y la comida, ¡todos, excepto yo, que soy vegetariano! ! Me ofrecieron 2 opciones de Bistro (ravoli o risotto), ninguna de las cuales me gustó y tampoco pude agregar verduras, etc. Dejé la mayor parte! ! ! En Navidad, a todos nos gusta algo especial como el vegetariano Wellington o el asado de nueces. Estoy listo para reservar de nuevo para este año y después de recorrer el menú de comidas vegetarianas y no puedo ver muchas opciones aparte de ravoli, risotto, todos los platos de pasta o arroz. ! ! Me encantaría darle a este hotel 6 estrellas si tuvieran un menú vegetariano más emocionante, ¡especialmente en ocasiones especiales! ! ! Todavía voy a reservar de nuevo para este año, sin embargo, ¡POR FAVOR ofrezco más variedad de platos vegetarianos! ! !

Vimos el anuncio en la página de Facebook del hotel. Decidimos darnos un capricho este fin de semana, ya que nos alojábamos en el hotel para la boda de un amigo. Estaba un poco destrozado cuando vi que solo estaba encendido el fin de semana. . .

Ate dinner here with a large group of ladies (30) and the food was excellent. Staff were efficient and attentive.

Three of us Stopped by for a lunch, we all ordered open sandwiches, then coffees, the salads were fine, acceptable, but nothing outstanding and certainly not Michelin star standard. Its when we came to pay the bill that we all were shocked. £17.60 for an open sandwich and a coffee. We could have had two courses in a really good restaurant like Baloo House three miles down the road. It was a rip off.

El personal era muy amable y la comida era deliciosa, pero nuestra visita se estropeó por algunas cosas.En primer lugar, las mesas están muy juntas y meten a todos en la misma área del restaurante. No estábamos muy ocupados cuando estuvimos allí y, sin embargo, nos sentamos entre otras 2 parejas y pudimos escuchar cada palabra de sus conversaciones. También dejé mi cóctel sin tocar, ya que no se hizo correctamente y no se podía beber, y costó 7.Es una pena este restaurante porque el personal era muy agradable y la comida realmente deliciosa, pero nuestra experiencia fue una decepción. Estábamos planeando reservar otra noche de alojamiento más tarde en el año, pero decidimos volver a hacerlo, ¡realmente no nos apetece pagar por más cosas que no recibimos!

Tuvimos nuestra cena aquí el sábado 19 de enero. Los entrantes eran geniales, ensalada César y nachos. Los platos principales fueron pescado, papas fritas y guisantes blandos, que mi marido dice que era "agradable". Comí una hamburguesa con papas fritas que no pude comer mucho porque la hamburguesa era muy seca y densa. En general, una buena comida.

Had a very nice meal and the staff was excellent great service with a smile and nothing to much trouble, would recommend.

¡Mi familia fue invitada a una boda la semana pasada en este lugar y tengo que decir que fue la peor en la que he estado! ! El personal al llegar ni siquiera estaba seguro de dónde se llevaría a cabo la boda, ya que pensaron que habían confundido las habitaciones. Una hora antes de que comience la ceremonia. . . . . deberíamos haber sabido en este punto que el lugar era un caos. Nos 'encadenan' a lo que solo se puede describir como un área de espera abierta con muy pocos asientos con una barra. Eventualmente, un anuncio de tango para todos nosotros para abrirnos paso en una sala para la ceremonia está a punto de comenzar. Sin ofender, pero ¿dónde está el maestro de ceremonias en lugar de un anuncio de tango? ? ? Muy aficionado por decir lo menos. ¡La ceremonia en sí pasa y una vez más nos conducen al área de espera abierta que claramente no tiene suficientes asientos para todas las personas en la boda! ! ! Pedir asientos adicionales es recibido con miradas confundidas por parte del personal que murmura entre dientes y desaparece. !

I went here with my husband and two daughters for the Sunday carvery, which is £25 per head. The beef for my main was very dry and the pavlova was disgusting, not a nice meal at all. Will not be back, very disappointed!

8 of us went for Sunday carvery and none of us could cut through the roast beef because it was so tough. The place was very cramped, not good table arrangements. Not great for a relaxing Sunday lunch.

Dined with a group at a function. Only had main course, but the various selected were all good quality. The honey crumbed ham deserves special mention. All came with choice of chips, potatoes and veg. Pleasant staff.

Used the restaurant when we stayed at the hotel some time ago. Good menu with plenty of choice and very reasonably priced.Will definitely visit again soon.

Fuimos a una de dos platos. Steak estaba bien. Cometí el error de pedir arroz. Era repugnante y no algo que cabe esperar en un hotel de 4 estrellas. Mi novio tenía Strawberry Cheesecake desastre Eton. Yo sabía lo que era. y Fue una experiencia horrible y, encima, había ratas justo fuera del restaurante. Como está en el campo, supongo que es de esperar. Gracias a Dios que no nos quedamos. Evitar.

We were introduced to the Mill Restaurant at the La Mon Hotel, by friends who wanted to treat us to Sunday lunch! We were so blown away by the setting, selection and service that we have also treated friends to the Sunday Carvery!

We recently treated my Father in Law to a stay at the La Mon with his wife and son to celebrate his special birthday. He was so impressed with all the little touches the Hotel had arranged to make his stay special. The room they stayed in was so spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for 3 adults and even a spare single bed. We also enjoyed a beautiful carvery lunch. We chose the last sitting of the day so we could relax after our meal. The carvery is a real treat with plenty of delicious starters, along with a great choice of meats, and desserts.

The Mill restaurant wasn’t open for my 2 evenings so this is a review of the Bistro. The menu has a nice selection including a 2 courses for £18, which proved good value. However make sure the offer goes through in your bill! I had the cod and salmon on my first night which was really nice and light, just what I wanted. And the pate, followed by scampi in the 2nd night. All nice but just not quite a ‘5’.

I had my birthday meal on Sunday and the restaurant was set up beautifully for are group 12 adults 7 children , and every single person enjoyed there meal .the food was 10 out of 10 service friendly and efficient. I will definitely go again , and I highly recommend

Reservamos el domingo asados en La Mon hace varias semanas para celebrar el cumpleaños 80 de mi abuela. No sólo es este un cumpleaños especial pero mi gran es insuficiencia cardiaca y esta puede ser la última oportunidad que tenía que tener su familia juntos. Llegamos tarde para ser informados de que no estar juntos en una mesa sino que nos divide entre dos tablas. Este no fue el caso con el mismo tamaño de fiesta hace 2 años. Las mesas estaban divididos por un pasillo a la entrada del restaurante durante toda la comida y el personal, otro paso. Esto hacía difícil relajarse. Por desgracia, la comida estaba tibia, el servicio era malo y cuando recibimos el zumo de naranja para los niños había una mosca muerta flotando en! La Directora explicó que la cocina es cálida y las ventanas están abiertas para "sucede". Espero no permiten moscas muertas en la comida! Por desgracia, la sensación que el £400 que pasamos en la comida fue un desperdicio. Mi consejo es no pagar si estás comiendo aquí. Sin duda este libro Nunca de nuevo. Me esperaba algo mucho mejor.

Mi esposa y yo llevamos a nuestros hijos y nietos a la rotisería el domingo de Pascua en el restaurante mill en La Mon House Hotel y fue una experiencia muy agradable. Siendo Semana Santa el restaurante estaba muy lleno, pero eso no redujo el servicio o la calidad de la comida que hemos disfrutado. Al llegar nos enseñaron directamente a nuestra mesa, que estaba muy bien situado y nos dio mucho espacio para el cochecito de bebé, etc. El menú era muy variado y las opciones eran deliciosos postres especialmente los muchos que estaban de oferta. Esta fue nuestra primera visita a La Mon y sin duda no será la última.

Very disappointed with the evening meal at the Mill Restaurant, the starter was OK but the main meal was awful. I ordered the pate to start and the scampi with chunky chips for main but there was more batter than scampi, only managed to eat half of the meal but wasn't even asked by the waiter if the meal was satisfactory.

Visited the mill restaurant when after many trips to the hotel bar , which is also always lovely for food. Couldn't get over the meal we were served in the mill restaurant.we had 3 courses and were also given complementary sorbet in between to refresh us. everyone blew us away it wasn't your average hotel foods it was all very elegantly plated and super tasty, also loved the fact the waiter was able to tell us the herbs where freshly grown in their gardens. Was so blown away by food and service that we have booked our wedding at the hotel for later this year and cannot wait to return! Definitely vrecommend !

Had a great family party at La Mon everyone was delighted with their evening meal we had a private room and we were very well looked after the staff were great and the food was excellent highly recommend it fo everyone to try.

We had our annual girls dinner at the Mill and we were not disappointed. Thanks to Mathew and Johnny and staff for making our night in the restaurant special. Food and service both excellent. Oh shldnt forget Gareth and the guys in the bar who did fabulous cocktails yum! We look forward to coming back!

We had not been to the carvery for at least 8 yrs have been trying to book and not been successful until yesterday 4th Dec 2016. Booked for the 3.45pm sitting and was disappointed only one dining room was in use as the other was in the process of being cleared, table small waiter kindly removed the wine glasses and water bottle to make more room. I had to ask for bar service. When we went up for our meal yes we had to que that was ok, the majority of the starters where up high so if you were tall fine but a man in a wheel chair was unable to reach so a member of his group had to help him. Food ok meat dry and vegetables looked and tasted as if they had been out all day, the dessert were similar. So a meal we were looking forward to was a disappointment. Yes I know it is nearly Christmas. We had a meal after a family funeral a couple of years ago and it was great and closer to Christmas.

Went for my mum's birthday, eaten enough to feed an entire tribe and had to undo my jeans for comfort - I recommend wearing something with more stretch!!The carvery was beautiful, lots of choice and all tasted like proper homemade foodles. The staff were very friendly and helpful which you don't get everywhere.The fun for the kids in the next room - a bouncy castle, face painter and balloon animals! The kids entertainment is free so all in it makes it a great place for Sunday dinner OR a celebration!I would definitely recommend this place for sure!

Ate at the restaurant last week and wow, the food was superb.My works colleague and I had the belly pork on lentils to start, followed by the lamb shank with mash and all I can say is that the food was some of the best I have tasted.For dessert I ate the cheese cake and my colleague had the ice sundae, again these desserts were excellent.Service was excellent, with no issues.

Went to la mon for a bar snack with my family at the weekend.had a great meal and fantastic service.food was superb and our 9 month old had a ball with the waitress.super friendly lady by the name of sharon.deffo be back.very reasonably priced to.

Reservatie is gewenst. Grote parking. Het restaurant is verdeeld in kleinere zaaltjes. Vriendelijk personeel. Nogal dure wijn doch mooie wijnkaart.

The service was very attentive and professional from George our waiter who took great care over my child's order given his severe allergies. He worked with the chef to present a beautiful starter and main course safe and delicious. They used the options on the adult menu (our preference) and reworked them to suit. My little boy was thrilled with the food and we were very happy too. The pianist played in the background and its was a thoroughly relaxing experience. Think this will now become our regular eating place!!!!!

Just had a meal for 21 people at the Mill for a wedding anniversary. .... absolutely fantastic food, the team were very attentive. Daube of Beef melted in the mouth, pavlova was exactly as it should be and atmosphere made perfect by the live pianist. Could not recomend enough, thank you to Padraig, Rachel and the team for a perfect event- and our grandparents have asked to be booked in for the same date in 10 years time, hope youve got a 2026 diary to hand!!!

we were guests at this hotel and we arranged to have meal we choose the fine dinning and the experience was excellent. staff very professional and attentive. explained the menu very well which had a wide range of choices all reasonably priced. the atmosphere was very relaxed all in all a very enjoyable expierence

Bearing in mind you aren't exactly spoilt for eatery choice in the castlereagh hills, this place does a decent job. We turned up minus a reservation, which is on us but try eventually got us a table. There was also a nice touch in seating us in the mill but letting us choose who menu to take from - classy. Food is good, portion sizes fine, love piano music which adds to the occasion and money just about OK, but dear goodness speed up the process. The wait to receive a dessert menu, then the time given to choose one, then the wait to receive one, was about 45 mins easily. Not necessary.

Table for 2. Don't know why restaurants like to park couples in the middle of the floor surrounded by larger groups!Anyway... Best thing about a Carvery is self service and the not waiting to be served. We found the service station quite compact and cramped - not much room.Food was nice and of course plenty of it.Took a long time for starter dishes to be taken away from our little table.Desserts were not very cold. Both niggles were mentioned when paying the bill. Hopefully they'll take it on board.

We couldn't find anywhere in the Co.Down, Co.Antrim area at a decent price to spend the night before flying to America after our wedding. We live only a short distance away but wanted to get away from a lot of family who had travelled for our wedding. Great room upgraded due to the honeymoon status. La Mon doesnt offer excellent views so dont expect it. We did get hotel robes and slippers which was nice. The room was enormous although a little 'dated' not sure who would bring a CD with them and if they did it wouldn't' work as the top drawer didn't' close on the HiFi system. Other than that a spacious environment.I enjoyed the good food in the restaurant for a Hotel. Both steaks were requested Blue but both came medium/rare. This was the only let down. The starters were excellent and the desserts also. Opted for the Fondant which they do request at least 10 minutes to cook. We were able sit in the lobby area and enjoy bottle of wine whilst watching the wedding revellers. Despite living only 10 minutes away it was nice to just get away from everything the day after the wedding. I cannot fault the staff or the service we received however recommend the chef is re-educated on how to cook a blue steak. Not one to fault but a Blue steak is something I look forward to.

Popped in for breakfast around 9am. Nicely decorated venue and pleasant staff. £10 per adult for breakfast And £5 per child. We did think as our son only has cereal that this was steep! But the waitress actually told us she wouldn't charge for him so that was nice. Cereals available as was hot food. Sausage, eggs, beans, soda bread etc. Tea and coffee and fruit juice. There was a toast machine and a selection of pastries and croissants.

The hotel and restaurant are modern, clean and welcoming. The food is brilliant, the staff are lovely and the amenities plentiful. This is the place for whatever event you are planning.

Staff made us very welcome and gave the children a lot of attention. We had fish and chips which was just divine. Banoffee pie gorgeous. The kids meals where excellent and large portions all round.

OK not often I escape from the premier Inn hotels but I have here. It is so, so very nice to eat and have your taste buds explode with the craftsmanship that has gone into your meal.!0/10 from me.

Pleasant staff, nice starters well presented.Main courses were ok, but steak a bit overdone, Dover sole a bit overdone and the fish and chips option seemed heavy and over - battered. However, reasonable value.

I had my 2nd meal this evening, solo this time - I was with a colleague yesterday. Both meals were first class, I can't praise the food or service enough. I will be coming to Northern Ireland on a regular basis and hope to be staying in this hotel every time. What more can I say?

Anytime i come here either alone or with my folks, there is always a wedding, That alone shows that management are most certainly doing the right thing. Its a beautiful layout both inside and out. You are greeted at the door are you come in which is a very nice touch. While seated in the restaurant we were seen to almost right away also a nice touch sadly i forgot the name of our server, i would have loved to give her credit and she was both friendly and welcoming. I cant wait to return for my next meal...speaking of which i has been a while since my last visit...see you soon :)

Had a lovely meal as part of a hen night however the service is dreadful. We sat all night with a wine menu and not one person asked us what we would like to drink. After several glasses of water the wine list was lifted with no one asking if we would like a drink. Probably cost this place £60 this evening!! When pointed out other staff were blamed rather than address the problem. When I ordered my chessboard I pointed out the £4 supplement was a lot given the other deserts were only 1.50 less. No response and my friend pointed out as the person walked away they made a face of disgust. As a business traveller I eat in 3 or 4 restaurants a week. This one needs some serious staff training!!

Very disappointed the Valentin ball was not worth the money for £38 eachFor the starter the only thing worthwhile eating was the melon and pineapple tower The soup was far too salty and the Paté was just horrible The main didn't serve much better the Lamb shank tasted like mutton (very strong )The potatoes had a very strange taste and not very palatable Only thing we could eat was the veg The desert was great however can't fault it lemon tart was really good just the right amount of zest The music was excellent brilliant band But and it's a BIG BUT the food let the whole night down

While staying over for the night at Lamon Hotel we had a meal in The Mill. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. The service was 100%. We both had a starter, main and we shared a dessert and I can say we both really enjoyed our meal and cleared the plate.. the food was top class. Can't wait to come again very soon!

Our food was absolutely delicious - the best Christmas dinner out I have ever had. Just one problem though....Christmas is over and I can't repeat for another 12 months! So good and service was very attentive, speedy and polite. ***** 5 stars all round. Thank you!

Three of us had lunch here today in their carvery and it was excellent. The selection of starters,main courses and deserts was very appetising and the food itself was beautifully cooked and served in very generous portions.All staff were very helpful and tables were cleared very quickly.This has to be the best Sunday for miles around and we look forward to visiting La Mon again in the not too distant future.

My husband and I had afternoon tea at the Le Mon, and right from the booking it was a pleasure to deal with all the staff on the phone and in person - the kind of service that makes you feel counted. Professional and well trained, we decided whilst we were having our meal we would be back.

Just wanted to say the food at my friends wedding on Monday was fantastic! Lovely soup, roast dinner & cheese cake. I'm going to come back for a meal I enjoyed it so much. Well done to the chef & kitchen staff ☺

Price was reasonable but meal was nothing special. The starter was pate and the toast was soggy - butter when hot. The pate was ok. Main course was roast sirloin of beef but portion of beef was poor. Vegetables were fine but again not a lot. Meal was not high standard as I had thought. Unlikely to return.

I recently dined here on a Thursday lunch time with ladies from work we all had fish and chips with mushy peas and tarter sauce everything was lovely service was great will return soon!

Four of us booked for a leisurely lunch here on a sunny Saturday. Service was good. We were not in a rush and the bistro was not very busy. Plenty of choices. I had chilli scampi which was delicious.

We have been traveling between Dublin and Belfast and stopped in for the night. Once we were settled in, we decided to try the Mill for dinner. This was one of our better decisions in a long time. The service was extremely professional, polite, patient and attentive. The atmosphere was perfect with spacious table settings.The meals were the best meals we have had in many moons.The bill was a tad high but you often get what you pay for and we defiantly did on this occasion. The price was also high because of the bottles of wine we consumed, so we must take some of the blame. I highly recommend this place for a nice treat to yourself or to impress someone else.

Most people just go to this hotel for events or functions but I highly recommend them as a great restaurant and Bistro. We visited Charlies Bistro in La Mon for a family meal and were not disappointed with no reservation we were provided with a table and service with a smile. The food was worth the wait and portions were excellent. Would definitely recommend giving this a go.

Had dinner here last weekend, was looking forward to it as we had our wedding reception here and this was our first time back to the hotel.Unfortunately my first impression was not good,the child high chair that we were given was absolutely disgusting,it was covered in bits of food and stains, I could not believe that a four star hotel thought this was acceptable,we cleaned it ourselves with baby wipes!!I cannot fault the food it was very good.The service was a bit slow and some of the staff did not seem that bothered.It is a bit of a shame because if the service had been as good as the food I think we would be planning another visit soon.

Went here for my mother and fathers 40th anniversary. We all got starters main and desert all of which were tasty and portion sizes were good. The service was a bit slow and I had one gripe.The children's menu included a particular drink with the meal which was not offered. When we had finished our food we realised this and enquired about it. We were offered the drink at this point to which I asked if they could just take the apple juice of the bill instead, as the children had drank that, I was told no this was not possible. This was not a big deal however I thought it was a simple request even if the apple juice cost more than the other drink (we spent over £200). Comment to let me know what you think.

We went to the Mill at La Mon as part of our 5 year wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and well presented. The service was attentive without being interfering, the type me and my wife like. One of the best meals we have had this year. We will be back.

This reveiw ks long over due but i must say the food here is great the staff are pleasant and friendly.

Our family have celebrated 2 birthdays over the past couple of months here. We were treated extremely well, the staff were very attentive on both occasions and Chef made an appearance to make sure we were happy with the food and service. The Mill has recently had a make over and the ambiance is nice and relaxed. We highly recommend people to give it a try! Thanks to all those who made our visits very enjoyable.

If you haven't stayed or visited this hotel you should, the staff are a credit to not only the hospitality industry but to Northern Ireland . As one would expect the hotel is clinically spotless , the staff are well trained and extremely helpful , the food was in the bistro was superb ,the menu is extensive to suit all palates , I would strongly advise anyone visiting to dine in the mill restaurant were the very talented chefs show off their skills the food we had was as good as many Michelin stared restaurants I have dined in well worth a visit . We ate here as part of a stay and dine deal. Food was fantastic from the specials menu - modern, tasty and complex. Couldn't fault the food. Service could be better...staff were very slow to bring drinks and starter took 30mins to arrive but was well worth the wait! Delicious! Will definitely be back! Chef also came out to check with all diners that the food had been good, which was a lovely touch

As a family of 5 inc a 4 year old and 11 month old twins it's quite hard to go out and eat without feeling like your a burden, we always end up surrounded in bits of food and crumpled napkins BUT we like to get out so it's important where we choose. We went to the mill at la mon for the first time abs the experience was top class right from the how much we were welcomed when we rang to make our booking , how we were cheerfully met at the door, made to feel like we could take up as much space as we wanted, a waiter Parked our buggy for us, took our drinks order straight away and brought the boys balloons. We've been to several carverys and this was definitely the best, the standard of food is great and there is a lot of choice. We didn't have to queue for anything but we did go in between sittings so I'm not sure if that would always be the case .After dinner we went into the free bouncy castle where my 4 year old had a ball, and he was able to get his face painted and balloon models. Amazing!!In contrast to this we rang up the same day to make a reservation for the green room in ramada ( we didn't know the la mon was an option at this stage) we'd been before but this time when my reservation was being taken I was suddenly told there was no room when I told them the ratio of kids to adults. My husband rang bk out of interest and changed the ratio but same number of people and suddenly they had loads of space, possibly because they thought there were more people paying (kids eat free) I'll never be back , talk about being made feel unwelcome. But at least this led us to la mon :)

on a spa weekend which included a meal in the mill .the atmosphere with the piano player made it.food ok, service slowhad starter nearly finished by the time our bottle of wine arrived.after that staff very attentiveonly thing would take me back was the piano playing in the background.

My husband and I had a fabulous meal at the Mill Restaurant in La Mon Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly; especially Emily and Matthew and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend that you give the restaurant a try. The goats cheese salad is fantastic, the pork belly is delicious and the cheese board is amazing!

My fiance and I had the most amazing dinner at The Mill Restaurant. On arrival we received a Peach Bellini Cocktail followed by a fantastic 5 course meal with complimentary Valentines chocolates on the table. The staff looked after us so well, they were all so friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The Executive Chef even came out to say hi and to see how we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food and service was exceptional.

The four of us could not book in advance for New Years Eve and I was very surprised to be able to get a table in La Mon Hotel. Not surprisingly the "party" was fully booked but we just wanted a pleasant dinner to round of the last night of the year. The receptionist said it was a set menu and I said it would be fine. We were greeted by the duty manager, coats taken and hung up and then shown to a really nice table in an alcove, she explained the menu and asked if we would like a drink. We were delighted at the menu and even though there were only three choices for the main it did not bother us. Drinks arrived and we ordered wine to go with the meal. It was a 6 course set menu. The first course arrived which consisited of 3 starters, each excellent and leaving you wanting more, nothing to do with portion size, simply because they were each so tasty, Next course was a fennel risotto with sea bass (yummy) and this was followed by a mouth watering sorbet flavoured with gin and ginger ale, top marks. Our mains were chicken stuffed with smoked cheese and leek or fillet of beef, each cooked to perfection and accompanied with a selection of veg and potatoes. The fifth course of 3 desserts were to die for, and normally I don't bother with desserts! All were so obviously made fresh and not bought in as so many restaurants are doing now. The final flourish to go with your coffee was the excellent and by no way mean sized, petit fours. The food was superb, the staff were each and every one so caring and attentive, not overbearing as sometimes can happen when they come to check if you are happy. We had ample time between the courses to digest and savour each and every bite. The whole experience was superb and a wonderful last night of the year. The only bad thing about it is we will have to wait a whole year to experience this extra special set menu again! Very well done to all the staff the chefs and all concerned. La Mon has really upped its standards big style and so deserving of its stars. Thankyou from we four.

The carvery in The Mill at La Mon was excellent as always. The staff were very courteous and helpful except one, the blonde server at the dessert counter. Her face would turn the cream sour. She cannot smile nor does she have any conversation. The other young girl helping her was very bubbly, if this member of staff does not want to be there then she should go and leave the opening for another person.

visited the Mill Restaurant at La Mon, once the Shakespeare Restaurant, and undergone a refurbishment, we were pleasantly surprised.The food presentation and flavour is excellent, Matthew and his team are welcoming, pleasant and attentive. The food is presented beautifully, with wholesome local produce used. Recommended.

Thanks to Rory and his team for catering for my late father's after funeral meal for family that had travelled some distance. I had booked for 60 and 78 attended. They quickly set up another table and catered for them with no fuss.

We had our wedding at La Mon on 9th August 2012.We couldn't have asked for a better day. The staff especially Rory where fantastic and looked after our every need.Our guests had a fantastic day and commented on the hotel.Our suit was beautiful.Would highly recommend La Mon to anyone.

I ate in the bar rather than the restaurant, so food may have been better in restaurant. Bar food was typical pub food

I write this from room 217, an upgraded room due to a previously poor stay. My wife, toddler and I were seated in a professional manner, drinks order taken and that is really were the service finished. We shared bread and tapenade for starters, which was very average. Our son had cheesy pasta with chicken and garlic bread - again just ok (lacking flavour and somewhat reminiscent of a pasta 'n' sauce). We both had steak sandwiches ordered medium. My steak smelt like a farm yard. My wife's smelt ok. The chips and onion rings were good but that is were it ended. The lump of well done steak (ordered medium) was on top of a soggy piece of SODA BREAD with salad lettuce (ice berg possibly included). These were the oddest and most bizarre steak 'sandwiches' we have ever had. We asked for the cocktail list - it came quickly. Still not asked how our food was despite having it for a good while.No one came near us despite empty glasses and having had the main in front of us for about 20minutes. Eventually the waitress asked us was everything ok as the plates were removed. We were so fed up we just nodded and grunted "ok".We asked for dessert menus. We managed to accompany our son twice each to the toilet and for mini walks without dessert menus appearing. This was despite of several waiters walking about in a half empty 'bistro'. I eventually approached the bar and spied menus sitting on the side. I said we were looking dessert menus still and was told (without being looked at) that the dessert bit was in the back. We decided after another 10min wait to use the VENDING MACHINE in the hallway for a bar of chocolate as waiting any longer with our restless toddler was not an option. 90 minutes for a very poor meal with shocking service - close the bistro down!Would not recommend it to anyone.

When planning my sister's hen party I had booked a private room in a hotel in Bangor (the Marine Court). 4 weeks prior to the hen party the Marine court contacted me to cancel the booking (despite me having already paid a deposit!). With 4 weeks to go I didn't think I would find somewhere private for 20+ hens so needless to say I was stressed!! A friend put me in contact with Megan from the La Mon. Megan was a fantastic help and sorted me out straight away. This was the first time I had been to La Mon and I must say I was very impressed. There were a few hens who got lost and were running late but the staff kept telling me not to worry and that it was no problem. When we were all seated the meals were served promptly. The food was fantastic - everyone was very happy with the meal. The staff could not have been more helpful. We needed a projector set up and as soon as we were ready for it there were a number of staff members on the ball and had it set up in no time. Not only did La Mon get me out of a fix, but the food was excellent, the staff were extremely helpful and polite and the restaurant was reasonably priced. What more could you want?! Thanks to all at La Mon for making the hen party so great - I will definitely be back!

This is one of, if not, the best carvery meals in Northern Ireland. A top class restaurant in a top class hotel.

Sat for 20 mins before having to ask for menu from staff. Menu limited and choices poor. When the food arrived it was substandard and not even that warm. Nobody asked how the food was and the place wasn't busy so there was no excuse.For a four star hotel this was unacceptable, we used to go here more frequently, and even got married here but unfortunately I won't be back.

Beautifully hotel ! Pity about the noise that kept me up half the night ! When I complained about the noise the next morning I was told I should have came and complained ! Yea at 1.30 am!! Act surprised with the male receptionist manner and tone ! Althou the bar staff and food were lovely but will nt be back ! Ps do nt stay in room 50 ! :)

Love the bistro here. The food is lovely, though the service can be a little slow if it's busy. They have gluten free options and bread available if you're looking for a lighter bite

We visited the hotel twice before we decided where to have our wedding reception. We could not be happier, that we ha ve chosen La Mon to have it. From the moment we first visited, the staff have been nothing but excellent. Extremely friendly & helpful... especially Karen Hamilton! Roll on July 2016!!

After seeing offer on fb for mixology (cocktail class) , b&b and 2 course dinner for £95 each, we jump at it. When arriving at hotel, a bit earlier for check in ( only 30 mins early) our room wasn't ready yet but duty manager offered us a drink and to wait at bar, she took our bags. When room was finally ready ( we got keys and headed to room the cleaners were just finishing it off). Once in, could not believe the size of room. (Our bags were already in the room. ) It was more like a suite. Loads of room. Gareth, our cocktail teacher, we had so much fun. We made 3 different cocktails and history about were/how cocktails came bout. Overall it lasted bout 50mins. Would recommend doing class.At dinner we were supposed to get voucher for dinner. However the duty manager explained to waiter that dinner was included in the offer. From the menu 2out of 3 starters should have been cooked. The more people came in the serve slowed down. No one checked on us through starter or main course. (Which steak was over cooked). Breakfast was self service. We were asked at breakfast 'have u been here before' we said 'no'. The waiter tried to explain how it work, he spoke very quiet and couldn't make out what he said. There was large section of food. At check out there was mix up with bill, however, after speaking to duty manger it was sorted pretty quickly. Overall, really enjoyable stay.

We stayed for a few days with a touring group. The hotel is in a pleasant setting and the reception staff were friendly and helpful but restraint staff less so and for vegetarians the food was very poor and totally unimaginative. Pasta with vegetables and mushroom risotto were a recurring theme. The contrast with the hotel in which we stayed the previous week was extreme and no interest was taken when we expressed concern. We will not go again.

Booked in as a wee treat for a friend and myself. We were at a concert in town and thought we would make a night of it. Got a lovely room with a balcony - and the weather was so good, it was like being on holiday ! Checked in early afternoon, and sat taking in the warm afternoon sun with a G&T in hand looking out over the lovely Co Down countryside.Had a great nights sleep in the really comfy bed (probably helped by some red wine at the concert), but waking up to a lovely sunny morning - having a cuppa on the balcony before a good oul Ulster fry can only brighten anyones spirits.After we checked out we went to the Countryclub for a spot of relaxation - swim, sauna, steam and a Jacuzzi that made us feel we`d been pounded within an inch of our lives - superb !Then it was back into the sun to sit outside with a jug of Pimms before a delicious afternoon tea - smoked salmon, ham, egg sandwiches, the softest mini scones I`ve ever had and delightful little individual cakes which were so light, we had to finish them all (well it would have been rude not too).I lovely relaxing couple of days - and for the price - a bargain !Sssssh - don`t tell anyone - can`t have it being all booked up when we want to go back !

My wife has been before and enjoyed her stay,so we went for the Sunday sleep over deal. Brill can't fault the hotel staff or food. Will be back soon and my son just thinks it's the best. I agree

Went to our friends wedding booked to stay the one night but stayed on another as was the company.....great day the room was pretty amazing...the reception staff were nice especially the girl with the bright orange hair who also had a confident personality......the bar staff were so busy but very pleasant and the bar manager Jim burns was extremely hospitable and approachable thanks Jim...food was dead on and the facilities are good and I'm back next week for another wedding

My family and I ate here a few weeks ago at the Sunday Carvery. It was excellent value for money at £20 each. There is so much choice that it is difficult to choose! There is a large selection of starters including soup/salads/fish/ etc. There are also various joints of meat to choose from for the main course together with numerous sides. The deserts are also very tempting! Is one of the best Carvery's that I have been to recently.

Stayed here 9th-12thApril for a wedding,which was fabulous.I'm very picky about hotels but this is amazing. Couldn't fault it at all(which is highly unusual for me).ALL of the staff go the extra mile & nothing is too much trouble and all done with a genuine smile. It is in my top 5 hotels along with the Landmark London & Grosvenor House Hotel. Excellent value. Great atmosphere,good food. Definite 4star+.Would highly recommend and will stay again.

just landed ere for weekend and cant fault the place at all.. staff cant do enuff for ya and food excellent.. and another 40 hours to go ..... pool time

We stayed with our 12 week baby boy for Mothers Day. The room and everything else was perfect and nothing was to much trouble. All staff were very attentive to our needs especially while using the swimming pool, helping with the baby. We enjoyed our evening meal in the Bistro. The menu had a good variety to choose from which included local produce. Breakfast also provided an excellent selection. Mr Brady was more than hospitable taking time to introduce himself and chat throughout our stay. Would have no problem recommending this hotel and look forward to our next stay.

Was at a private function in La Mon Hotel and I can honestly say that the food was outstanding.Normally at functions the food can be 'okay' but at this carvery,everything was beautifully displayed,piping hot and delicious.Huge selection of starters and the desserts? Where would I start? Did not even want one but when I saw them,I could not resist .If you are thinking of holding a function here or eating at their carvery,go for it,you won't be disappointed.

Again yet another fantastic stay, I was remembered by name from my last stay and was made to feel very welcome again. The food was amazing served by billy, who looked after our every need. I cannot express how great this hotel is. Hope to be returning again soon. June. (Monsoon)

The breakfast was below average in comparison to other hotel buffets I've enjoyed. The typical toast was offered with juices and cheese, along with fried breads, eggs, ham and beans. I'd soon have a breakfast at a franchise takeaway.
