Meze in Cannock Chase

Great Mediterranean food with lovely surroundings.

The food was fresh and on point. The aesthetics were beautiful, and the price was reasonable, considering you were dining in. We went in just wanting a quick snack and ended up sharing a cold meze platter, lentil soup with warm Turkish bread and dips, garlic and chilli king prawns, and a Kymali pide (minced meat). The portions were of good size, although the cold meze could've done with being a little bit bigger. Personally, I would've preferred the bread in larger pieces that I could tear, etc, but the cut pieces were still okay. The ones closest to the oven flame were a bit hard but still edible with the meze. The prawns were lovely. The perfect balance of garlic with chilli, IMHO. The lentil soup was okay. It seemed to be missing some ingredients (more potato and carrot) before liquidising, but that's just me. I didn't like the garnish and would've preferred the pul biber as a powder garnish, but again, that's just me. The pide was tops all the way. I managed a good cheese pull, too. So feeling rather full, my friend and I ordered Turkish tea to help us. The tea took me back to sitting on a back street cafe in Manavgat. It hit the spot. Complimentary Rose Turkish Delight with the bill. Loved almost everything about this place, but my friend wasn't happy to see a halal food serving restaurant serving alcohol, despite enjoying the food. I guess you will have to answer for that yourselves, but I don't need anything explaining. I'd gone knowing that the atmosphere and food would be good. I think I'll try the mixed meat platter for 2 the next time I come.

Overall, it was a good experience. The food was tasty, and the cocktail was nice. When we arrived, the wife went in and checked there was availability. The man said yes and we paid for parking. Upon returning 1 minute later, we spoke to the lady who showed us to our table. Before we sat down, she said we need the table back shortly. We said if we knew that we wouldn't have paid for parking and gone somewhere else. Overall, the service was quite slow. We asked for a second round of drinks, which never arrived. Also, when asking for the bill, that also never arrived, and we ended up going to the counter to pay.

Used to visit here quite often as the food is great, until they let us down when celebrating my sons birthday. He had moved away from the area, so its a real rare treat for our family to get together. I made a point of visiting the restaurant during the day to take a helium balloon in to go on our table that evening, as it was a surprise birthday meal out, was told that was no problem at all, even reassured me that the table I requested would be reserved and waiting for us, they seemed so very helpful. However, when we got there, the place was packed to the rafters with clearly no tables available or my balloon in sight, it was chaos. We had a pathetic excuse mumbled to us that they dont know what had gone wrong, blaming all and sundry. As it was a Saturday evening, we knew we would be pushed to find something else last minute, so had to stand and wait for over 45 minutes for a table, by which point we were all very hungry. We were then squeezed in, (not the table we had requested when booking) and I had to ask for the balloon, as they had forgot all about it!. Sadly my sons birthday was dampened by this whole experience and I felt so bad for wasting our evening. In my opinion, there was too many people packed in, sitting literally on top of each other, making it difficult for us to even hold a conversation. There really was no point booking a time slot in advance. We left with no offer of any sort of discount and really felt like it didnt matter to them one bit. Because of this, im afraid we have never returned sadly.

Fantastic night out for a birthday celebration with family. Quick and friendly service, great food and fabulous atmosphere. Will definitely go back here.

Booked for New Years Eve. Had to wait half hour for table and another half hour for order to be taken. Apparently they were short staffed. Staff were not very friendly and food was average. Don’t think we will be returning.

By far the best Turkish restaurant we have bern to. We are looking forward to going back soon.

Their meat had a very bad smell and taste, it was off I am a regular meat eater I go All around looking for restaurants that serve good meat but the food here gave me loos straight away after I got home, that day something was definitely off with the meat

Whenever we come here, Meze is must have food. It’s delicious and authentic Turkish food. Superb service and wonderful ambiance. Staff is very pleasant and helpful

What a great restaurant. This was our first visit but will not be our last. We had a nice friendly greeting, shown to our table. We ordered drinks while we waited for the food. Drinks good prices. The food was fabulous, fresh, tasty and plenty of it. I would recommend anyone to try Meze, you won't be disappointed. Lovely team and our waitress was wonderful. Well done Meze. 5🌟

Very mixed thoughts I guess the question is whether we would go back and the answer is no. We pre booked the table and had to wait 40 minutes for our table be available. Their web site states table allocation is for 2 hours, so now well short of their 2 hour allocation. Food arrived in 2 halves 15 minutes between the same main course, also the second was very much smaller. The waiter acknowledged this fact blaming it on how busy they were , ( obviously not acceptable) told they would sort it out on the bill , which they did. Table opposite having the same issues which caused some amusement. Ok food was nice but had better, service very poor, could be as a result of how popular they are right now, but certainly not what I want at my experience . It’s a same that in my a pinion the management of the restaurant has let it down, to the point of this type of review, but that’s the difference between great restaurants and mediocre.

Prices are different with the menu they charge me more than the price on the menu

Have just been to Meze for a meal and was very impressed with service food and prices. We were met by a very welcoming young lady who took us to our table. The food was excellent and very authentic to Turkish cuisine. At no time were we rushed between courses which made us feel welcome and not rushed to get us out. I would highly recommend MEZE

First visit here and I was pleasantly surprised. Lovely decor, music in the background that wasn't overpowering, and such lovely staff. Cannot fault their attentiveness. So helpful and always smiling. Food arrived hot and presented well. Definitely recommend the lamb shank and the honeycomb cheesecake. I will be returning for these.

Never have I EVER had a bad experience at Meze before it has always been perfect and the food is the best you will ever eat. However when we came in today around 5 ish we were taken to a table in the corner and ignored practically all of our meal not getting another drink until after dessert. The two waitresses sat behind the bar chatting and on their phones while we sat with empty plates and glasses for nearly 30 minutes. We paid almost £6 for a tiny slice of cold chocolate fudge cake which came on its own, why is it such a high price for nothing?? I have always had a good experience but this was shocking. I will come back when the staff are properly trained.

The food was amazing... we asked the waitress for recommendations, and every dish was delicious. Our only issue was that the main came out very quickly after the starters... we could have done with a little more time in between courses, but still, I would definitely be going back here.

We took my friend whose birthday it was yesterday to Meze, Well what can we say. Food was delicious and our waitress Sophia wasnt phased by us requesting "Tweaks" to our prefered meals. The food as usual was truly delicious- fragrant with the meats crispy, and salads fresh. The chips which my friend and husband,Kevin ordered were yum and I'm fussy about chips-crisp and real potatoe. We were given a little starter which was a lovely surprise. We were so full we couldnt manage puddings but on hearing that it was Sheilas birthday that day, out came a chocolatey fudge cake- which we all tasted and concluded it lovely- It was really a lovely genuine response from Sophia when she heard it was Sheilas birthday. Our service was brilliant and we shall be back, not least for Sophias engaging service. I can't say how wonderful it was that Sheila had a beautiful meal on her birthday.

2nd time visiting, great food and drinks with friendly staff. We had the mixed platter between 4 of us and all food tasty and cooked well. The star of the show for me was actually the Bulgar wheat and rice, both really flavourful!

I want to express my gratitude to the waitress with blond hair who served us at your restaurant. Her professionalism, attentiveness, and friendliness made our evening unforgettable. She knew the menu very well and helped us make a choice that turned out to be fantastic. Her genuine smile and care for the customers create a warm and cozy atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Venue - Beautiful decor, comfortable chairs. Staff Hospitality - Waitress was lovely but they switched us to a waiter that just seemed like he didn't want us there. Not sure if it was because we brought young kids with us but not very welcoming, didn't really engage in dialogue we tried to have. I explained it's my birthday, never wished me happy birthday. Took half the dessert orders then walked off and blamed my sister in law for not listening when she called him back.... Service - We had to ask for our sides which eventually came out halfway through our meals. Price - Between 3 families we spent just under £400 which we all thought was quite expensive for the portion sizes but it made the hospitality/service we received much poorer.

We visited here 10/07/24 and we had an absolutely outstanding meal. The food was so good, the staff were incredibly polite and welcoming. Would absolutely recommend!

Living locally we wanted to try somewhere different for a family evening meal in-between other commitments, so took to Google map reviews for inspiration. Reviews were good and Meze did not disappoint! Service was great and food lovely and plentiful. Would recommend and will come back with friends to try more of the menu. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely fantastic food. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was laid back just like being abroad. Will definitely go again. Lamb and mash served and tasted beautifully. Moussaka was very tasty and the platter was excellent. Well worth a visit.

Excellent restaurant and friendly staff, however I will not be returning due to the deceptive parking charges for evenings. Whilst taking my infant child and elderly family member into the restaurant I checked the parking sign with reads "Parking 08:00 - 18:00" on skimming the sign. So we proceeded into the restaurant, 4 covers, starters, mains, drinks, deserts and tip only to have our evening completely ruined by the vampiric gremlin haunting the car park who placed a £60 parking fine on my car because I didn't notice the £1 evening charge at the very bottom of the sign. This rouge parking company have cost you an otherwise assured repeat customer. I will no longer be using the car park, shopping area or unfortunately Mese until the parking company is made to remove the predatory evening rate, and ideally are fired for it. I'm truly sorry I couldn't give Meze a 5 star review. Edit: Thank you to Meze for their reply, I'm genuinely sorry I won't be able to return until the parking is remedied, a principle is a principle.

Very helpful with my dietary requirements, and all the ladies said the food portions were very generous. All the dishes served looked fabulous. We had a great time, thank you Meze.

Absolutely terrible experience upon arrival for an 8pm booking. The restaurant had clearly been overbooked as there were also other groups of people that had been waiting for at least 45 minutes for their table. We were ignored for at least 10 minutes then thrown drinks menu to look at but with nowhere to sit and wait for our pre booked table, we couldn't even order a drink. I felt absolutely embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to my friend. We promptly left after another 10 minutes of waiting again with absolutely no acknowledgement of arrival or any confirmation that our table would be available soon. We felt as if we were in the way through no fault of our own. I wasn't prepared to wait any longer. I dread to think how long the food would have taken. Its a shame really as I have been before and enjoyed the food. However following this dreadful experience I will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

Had a few meals here and definateley reccomend.

We went to celebrate my daughter in law’s birthday. They put the 40th balloon I gave them earlier in the day on a different table with people sitting drinking. Then had to wait for our table, then ordered drinks and they forgot one. To top it off got a parking fine for £60. Very expensive for the portion size. Would not be going back.

The food was very tasty and portions were big and decent. I would highlight their ciger as a starter, delicious! What seemed to be the manager was very kind when he greeted us, and he gave us a table without having booked beforehand. However, the staff was not very attentive and I’d even say they avoided eye contact when we clearly needed them. Maybe they were very busy; in general I think training the staff to be more proactive would make the overall experience perfect.

This place . . . Love it . . . Food, people, place, cant fault it, im Sicilian & own my own trattoria and food is big in our family, this place hits the spot, highly recommend it will ne a firm favourite for us x

Food was great but felt that the staff forgot about us. had to wait a long time for the table despite having a booking. Had to constantly remind staff to order and when we asked for another drink they said they would send someone over but we never got served. Ordered a vegetarian falafel meal and was given a chicken falafel salad. Food was good but was let down by the very poor service, unfortunately

I find the food at this restaurant nice, as an oriental guy in the UK.

We have been here a couple of times now and absolutely love it! We've also recommended lots of family and friends, & all of them have said how much they liked it! Never heard anyone say they didn't like it. Definitely recommend.. The decor and atmosphere is so good, the service is excellent & friendly and the food is delicious! The cocktails are really good too!

Very nice food and atmosphere. Very polite service but very slow and they forgot our pitta bread on our starter. I have also asked for a glass of water that I never got. All staff were friendly and happy but I strongly recommend that they need more waiters for the capacity of the restaurant. Overall very good.

First time visiting, the initial welcome was dull we were left standing awkwardly and in the way by the door as we were waiting to be took to our table. Got to our table which was nice, the decor is done really well. Had our drink order took but it seemed an offence that we weren’t buying a whole bottle of wine and just wanted a glass. The food looked good, there were sharing platters available to be able to try most items from the menu. Food arrived hot and on time - cannot fault the food it was tasty (although lamb was tough) I wanted to ask the waiter a question but I think due to the language barrier the boss man is the only one who was doing all the talking and ordering all night so I understand he was busy, however I only wanted to ask a simple question about the dish and he was very abrupt, dismissive and quite rude. It appears if you aren’t regulars the staff aren’t very welcoming as he was joking with the table next to us but was very dismissive with us (a table of 2) we couldn’t finish the platter and asked for a box to take home. I asked at least two waiters and it took over 30 minutes for them to bring a box which I had to box the food myself. I then asked for the bill which took ages so in the end we walked up to the bar to pay. The waiting times were ridiculous and at this point it wasn’t that busy. The car park isn’t free (my own fault as it does state pay and display) however the car park is very poorly lit and I just didn’t see the signs. I also assumed as this is a restaurant the parking would have been free or free after certain hours, ended the night with waiting ages for the bill and a lovely parking ticket. 7/10

Having been recommended we made a reservation for 7.30 . We arrived at 7.20 and joined a melee at the door. A party of 31 had been booked at the same time but no tables had been prepared. At 8.30 Having been told our table would be ready in 2 minutes several times, we eventually walked out as did several other parties. Not very organised or customer focused.

I have come to here by suggested from Google. Didn't notice the manu before come here. Food was good but definitely need twice about the price to be honest. Platters for 4 what we had it was good but price is a lot higher when u thinking its around canock. Its ok for tourists area but local need a bit affordable range food.

1st visit Thursday 14th December The food was Amazing !!!!! Set meal for 2 flavoured to perfection Very welcoming staff Lovely decor very warm and cosy Service was just right left us to it and where there when you needed them . A very classy place parking was easy just remember to buy a ticket no matter what time you park as this is a privately owned area . i will definitely be coming back and highly recommend you visit . Set meal for 2 including alcoholic drinks and coffee £62.00 not bad at all for what i can only describe as a feast 👍🏻

1st time at this lovely place with great authentic Mediterranean foods, wow could not fault it except I thought it was very expensive for basically barbeque food . But really enjoyed the experience

Hidden Gem! Didn’t even know this place existed until a couple of weeks ago when me and a friend was looking for somewhere to eat after a shopping trip in Cannock! Was able to get a table last minute as a walk in even though the restaurant was very busy. All the staff were so friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely amazing. The BEST Turkish place by far in the midlands! I have recommended this place to so many people already and I’m looking forward to revisiting again soon!

Quite simply superb: one of the best meals I've had in recent years. I ordered four mezze dishes which arrived quickly, beautifully presented and with an array of dips and condiments. Cannock is not the most glamorous town, let's be honest, but High Green Court is a nice little upmarket oasis and the restaurant has a perfect spot on the more bustling side of the square. Thoroughly enjoyable experience and highly recommended

We popped in yesterday with the work lot. Extremely efficient service, considering how busy the restaurant was. The restaurant manager brought the personality to the service. The food was the star of the show though. Very different to anything I’ve tried before. I will return with My Mrs next time. It’s a fantastic restaurant to have in your local town! Very impressive.
