Mestizo Restaurant & Margarita Bar in Kensington and Chelsea

Food is average compared to other London Mexican restaurants. Dishonest wait staff and manager. This was a big day out for us, and the waiter+manager did not give the cash change (£5) owed to my friend who paid in cash. People have different circumstances and restaurant staff should not assume that any change is too small or insignificant. Instead of deducting the correct cash money owed from the last card payment taken at the table, the staff promised to return with the change - but never did. 20min later we were still at the restaurant waiting for this issue to be resolved. Putting money over and above customer experience is very poor practice. We left without the change given. This coupled with the average food is enough not to revisit. I will stick to El Pastor!!!

Whilst the waiter was attentive, the food was bland and hugely overpriced, don’t get the hype.

We were served by Prasun this evening, and what a pleasure it was. It was my wife's 30th birthday and Prasun and the staff went out of their way to make it fun and memorable. We had delicious ceviche and a wonderful mestizo, Prasun was always on hand to reccomend the next good drink! We will be returning thanks to the quality of service. Thank you!

We had a perfect dinner here. My partner asked for a meal he had a few weeks ago and that they don't have on the menu and the chef offered to make it for him. ❤️ Such great service and special thanks to our waiter Enrico who made this possible! Besides this, the food is absolutely amazing and the prices are reasonable for what you get.

Booked in dining area, was put at the bar next to noisy cocktail makers. Food was really bland, chicken was dry, and seriously overpriced for whats really low effort food.

Nicol provided a great service and made sure to make us feel very welcomed. She came to check on us often but not annoyingly too much to ensure everything was good. We got some complementary shots at the end of the meal which was lovely. The drinks were the best! Food was 10/10 I would defo recommend. Nicol gave amazing recommendations for the food and drinks based of the things that we liked. She was very polite and smiley. Guys defo come here and try the food and drinks! It was too good for the price. I would recommend the taco tray so you can have a bit of everything. The churros with the Caramel sauce, urgh I would die for.

Very good mestizo master, on Sunday it was a buffet of £30 live mariachi, the service was very good they made us fresh tacos they heated up the meat every time we ordered, incredible

One of the best dinner experience with our friends and family. Food was exceptional and the staff were helpful throughout! Their recommendation was spot on and everyone of us loved the food which was delicious and filling. Everyone of our group of 10 gave fantastic reviews. They all had fun and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours! Unique ambience which was eye catching as well. Parking: not sure. We all took Uber to get there. That was convenient for us than driving there !

The food was delicious, as Mexican I enjoyed it a lot it was authentic Mexican food with flavour, agua de horchata was delicious it was clear it was made at home and that is good. The service was speechless Damian is a good server with great attitude. As Mexican I do recommend this place, the flavours are on point and well processed.

As a Mexican visiting London. This was a very good Mexican restaurant. Had the churros and nachos. They were very good. My cousins got the horchata and tacos de al pastor which were also very good. Damian was our server and he was very nice. Will come back if I visit London again.

Excellent service and the food was superb. Alan was our waiter and was so helpful in explaining the meals. Nothing was too much for him. You need to keep hold of this guy. The deserts were to die for. The timing of the courses could not of been better.

Went for my friend’s birthday. Had the taco platter and everything was delicious. Damian was a great server and even gave us a candle and a shot for her birthday!

Food was well made, fresh and tasty. Beautiful restaurant, lovely staff, and it happened to be everyone’s birthday who was dining that night. Had a great vibe and would definitely go back. Service a little slow but was a busy night for them. That’s how you know food is fresh too.

Whilst I could not take photos due to the smell of the food making me dive in I can honestly say all was Awesome. Nicol was a waitress a brilliantly attentive. We had the Prawn Service, Platters of Nacho's with sauce and beautiful chicken with black truffles. The energy was great fun and a memorable experience. The only thing I would say was there was no wine menu In the menus provided to us so the assumption was no wine until we saw some regulars get there's. Thank you Nicol.

First time trying out a nice Mexican in London and it didn’t disappoint. From the start very good service from Damian and he was very attentive to us. The food I must say was worth the price, I hate leaving with a half full stomach but this time it was quite the opposite.

The food is amazing as always, but I couldn't stop thinking about how the cultural element was missing in the decoration and atmosphere.

Loved this spot, and given I was once Californian, I take my Mexican food VERY seriously 😆 Margs were delightful, food was delicious and not “British-version of Mexican” but proper Mexican (the mole in particular was SO good!), and our 1 year old gave two thumbs up to the cheese quesadilla. Great spot for date or family meal out 👍

I had an incredible experience at Mestizo Chelsea! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The mariachis were outstanding, bringing so much energy and authenticity to the afternoon—it truly felt like a celebration! The real stars, though, were the team at the buffet. They went above and beyond, making the whole experience amazing. The food was fresh, flavorful, and full of traditional Mexican flair. Their enthusiasm and hospitality made the meal even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a place with great food, fantastic service, and an unbeatable atmosphere, Mestizo Chelsea is a must-visit. Absolutely love this place! Food, drinks, staff and the ambience is great. The last time I made a reservation Yasmin, at front of house was so helpful not only with my booking but throughout the the evening she made sure my friend and I were well looked after. Normally I don't spend my time on reviews but given the expense of the account, the location, and the hype of networks I feel necessary to share my personal experience to lower expectations. I expected much more, in particular the pastor and the skirt steak disappointed me quite a bit, the meat was tough/dry. The service had areas of opportunity but yes, everyone was very friendly. This is what I ordered (personal ranking of 1-10, 10 being “very tasty”) 1] Chicken tacos with mole: 8 2] Barbecue: 7.5 3] Shepherd: 5 4] flank steak: 5 5] onions: 7 6] hot sauces: 9 7] horchata water: 10 (I don't know if mind blowing applies to a water but it is very delicious) 8] cheese quesadillas: 9 the cheese is very good. 9] 3 milk cake: 9 (it has a very small area of ​​opportunity, I'm not sure if they cook it traditionally, I feel that the flavors of the “3 milks” were not mixed homogeneously, I may be getting carried away but that impression was given to me) 10] Spicy sauces are good as are non-spicy ones, suitable for all audiences. Ohh and they send you lemons with your tacos! Good there! 11] Tortillas: it seems that they are made at home by machine, in general they are delicious but it seems that they send them to you straight from the machine without passing them on a comal 12] cleanliness: clean tables, clean bathrooms, but the chairs we had were dirty but badly dirty, the seats in the underground are not that dirty, it's outrageous. Attention there please! In general, the experience "in the words of my British wife was "just fine" which in general I translate as disappointing. And I agree. Lastly, and for context, I have been living in the UK for 3 years and I understand that we are not in Mexico and I know that it is impossible to replicate the authentic tacos of Mexico, but they could be closer. I think there are places that make much better tacos de pastor (e.g. wahaca, and we don't even talk about “El Pastor”. My feedback also takes into account local competitors from London. Thank you

Amazing food and service, best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to!

This is my favourite local Mexican and I like the original one too. We ordered delivery and it was all packaged extremely well and was delicious as ever. Definitely recommend the guacamole and the enchiladas verde! We also had the tacos el pastor which were decent. Finished with the churros which we heated in the oven and they were divine!

Went for our son’s birthday so a lot of us. We had a nice meal and the waiters were good but gave us too many cakes as the dish is called 3 leches so we ended up with a lot more as they thought we were ordering three not one! Nice atmosphere but it’s very noisy- the acoustics aren’t great so you cannot hear any conversation you have to shout so if you’re older perhaps go at lunchtime. My 84 yr old mum was pretty isolated as she can’t raise her voice and couldn’t hear anyone.

A week ago I was with friends on Sunday during buffet time, the exquisite meats, tacos, guacamole, really everything. We couldn't help but try everything! I'm a fan of tacos so I couldn't resist eating more than once. The atmosphere was magnificent, the mariachis came to the table to sing. And the guys who served us were wonderful, the buffet managers and a wonderful waitress named Nicol who continually came to our table to make sure we were okay. Nice experience 😊

Information on allergies was very poor and treated as quite casual. For someone with severe allergies, I was quite surprised at how nonchalant they were. I gave all my allergies prior and reiterated them to the waiter. I also asked for an allergen menu but I was not given this but I ordered and he said he’d check that was all ok. However, he clearly didn’t, as the food arrived and I had to check again… Luckily I did as they then realised there were allergens and cross contamination issues that weren’t mentioned! For anyone with allergies, I would be weary about dining here, and I would not go back as I did not feel comfortable or safe after my experience. I cancelled the rest of my order as a result. There needs to be far more education on allergies and training given to staff. There was one waiter who was very lovely and positive, but the others were quite unhelpful and disengaged. The food that my boyfriend had was nice, and the atmosphere was also ok but our experience was tainted by the allergy issue and service.

Damian and a young waitress(sorry do not know her name) were very friendly and professional. Gave my Dad and I suggestions on what food to try and Damian even came back before confirming my order with the kitchen that something that I initially ordered was not in fact vegan. I definitely will bring back more of my family and friends!

This place has the tastiest, freshest and most authentic Mexican food I’ve tried in London, and me and my partner have been to a few. Damian in particular was great and took time to explain the whole menu even when things were busy so we made the best choice for us. He knew all the tequilas and mezcals inside out and on that note we will definitely be returning to try more of them!
