Had a fantastic family meal. Booked for 17 of us to celebrate my late mother’s birthday. Was well looked after by Danny 5* service, friendly and great manners

Great atmosphere, warm and cosy. Menu is extensive but not all options are worth the try. I'd recommend a sirloin steak in peppercorn sauce and burgers (my personal choice). Chicken curry is not very appealing and taste quite dry and cheap. Good location for a very normal dine out pub, but not impressive either.

Called in for lunch with friends on a Friday afternoon, after visiting Wightwick Manor. We received a warm welcome, the food was lovely and we were served with a smile. Will definitely return when in the area again!

Had a fantastic birthday meal out here for my wife. Steak was lovely. Pies lovely and all food presented beautifully. Bar / table staff lovely and really keen to please. Will be back!

Had a great time today for my mother in laws birthday meal. Danny was great and helpful with helping us pick dessert with his descriptions.

Great food Improve the service. Passing plates/menus over us. Taking drinks away without asking. Almost crazy how fast we were served as if the table was double booked and needed us gone then miraculously when we did want to leave, no offer of the bill we had to go bar on our own accord. Price btw two people I paid for 3 gins 3 beers + food £80

I had an amazing experience at The Mermaid! Their classic burger was absolutely perfect—juicy, flavourful, and cooked to perfection, with fresh toppings and a perfectly toasted bun. Every bite was a delight! The fries were crispy and golden, making for the perfect pairing. On top of the great food, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in creating a great dining experience. I highly recommend The Mermaid for anyone looking for a great burger and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

An okay experience, wouldn’t rush back, food is nothing special but a nice atmosphere just for drinks or whatever. My food was nice but other members of party had issues with theres.

Table of 3. Ordered starters and mains. My main came out first whilst still eating my starter, the rest of my table received their food 10 minutes after. One of us ordered smoked haddock & spinach fishcakes and it was missing items.

I recently dined at The Mermaid and, unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The timing of the mains was completely off—there was a 10-minute gap between the arrival of our dishes, which made the meal feel disjointed. To make matters worse, the dish that was supposed to come with hollandaise sauce arrived without it. When the sauce was finally brought out, it was far from what a good hollandaise should be—lacking the rich, creamy texture and flavor that I was expecting. Overall, the meal was not up to par, and I would hesitate to return.

Country pub with open fireplaces and modern British food. Relaxing atmosphere and easy to get to.

Booked in for Christmas day dinner, we've never done it before but it was absolutely amazing, food was great, staff were helpful and everything was so smooth. Such a great experience. Great place, highly recommend and will definitely come again.

Lovely atmosphere. Warm and cosy. Nicely decorated for Diwali, Hanukah, Ramadan and other festivals.

The atmosphere and staff was amazing. The food was delicious. Maybe a bit more salad leaves on the plates with the meal other than that I can't think of any feedback to help improvement. I was really impressed.

Stone cold vegetables and chips, also stale bread and rock hard butter (with prawn cocktail) Great evening with friends - tried to ignore the neighbouring table who had a large (well behaved) but exceptionally gassy dog. The smell was horrendous.

A charming place, excellent food and the staff of the staff was wonderful. The waiter Danny was very attentive and helpful. We will be back soon.

It was my birthday on the 30/11/24, so i arranged to meet my sister in law for a birthday lunch. We were greeted by the lovely Maria and looked after very attentively. We enjoyed the salad and a soft drink. Really enjoyed the experience. Thankyou

Cold and draughty, poorly quality food. You can do better elsewhere. Our table, situated down the far end of the pub, was cold and draughty. Reading old reviews shows that this has been a recurring issue for over a year. We asked to move several times as there were several elderly members of our party, our request was refused (even though there were 3 empty tables that could have accommodated us). Food was not great, the pie was dry , the hunters chicken was served with awful plastic/nacho cheese sauce, and the “triple-cooked chips” were clearly just oven-chips. Service was fine until main course was served and then we were forgotten about. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.

A right little gem one side of Wolverhampton Love the log fire and the rustic look The staff are absolutely amazing, the tall Asian guy is one of the best I’ve ever seen in the business always willing to go the extra mile his service is out of this world, management of fantastic Some of the younger staff need a bit more training but the older staff members are always willing and they are at hand to guide them the right way Food is great highly recommend it

This pub has a very warm welcoming feeling. Staff are friendly and helpful. I have now visited The Mermaid 2 or 3 times and it won't be my last.

Nice starter of pate but lasagne although tasty was not lasagne as I know but pasta sheets covered in a meat sauce.

Unfortunately, the pub was extremely busy and although we were warned there was a wait on the food, an hour and a half later, our 3 year old Grandaughter fell asleep (it was after 8pm) and still no food. I complained and to be fair, the Manager was very apologetic and adjusted our final bill accordingly. The food, when it eventually arrived, was quite good. We had booked well in advance but there was an offer on Vintage Inns main courses and the pub just couldn't cope. The waitress was also very good and apologised. Just circumstances on that particular night we guess.

Another superb evening at what has become my favourite local place to eat. The building itself is a lovely looking country pub. Inside is clean and spacious so you don’t feel like you are sitting too close to the next table. I ate there with a friend and chose the lasagne and salad for mains and went for the mini Creme brûlée and coffee for dessert. The lasagne was delicious and the salad extremely fresh. My dessert was the perfect size, tasted amazing and was beautifully presented. My friend also had the lasagne and chose the ‘mini’ fruit crumble with custard for dessert. I say mini, but it was a good sized dessert and she said it was delicious. Our waiter for the evening was Danny. I cannot compliment him enough. He was attentive, friendly, asking about our day and very knowledge about the menu and drinks. A great asset to the Mermaid.

Booked a last minute table in the dog friendly area for Sunday lunchtime. Service great, food perfect, just disappointed with myself that I didn’t leave a tip as we didn’t have any cash. Would definitely recommend.

It's a cosy restaurant which is dog friendly. All of the tables are set up for meals, but there's no issue with sitting down if you just wanted to pop in for a drink. They have a wide menu as well as specials too. They have an app / mailing list which offers money off meals etc which is worth signing up for.

Lovely venue and food, pleasant, cheerful atmosphere and staff. I visited with friends .We all enjoyed our meals. We had the Lamb, Red Wine Lasagne, and the Pie of the Day (Chicken ). For dessert, we had a double brownie, creme burlee, and the Honeycomb dessert. It is definitely worth downloading the Vintage Inns app as you can collect loyalty points ( Please ensure they scan it, before paying). Then you will receive,.. 1st, a complimentary drink, next 20% off mains, then a starter or dessert free and last of all money off your meal. Then it will start again. You can also get extra offers, For example:, currently, 33% off and a kids starter or dessert until 27th September 2024. There are several Vintages Inns around the uk to try. We have visited all in the Wolverhampton area so far. All are nice. We would definitely recommend these pub restaurants..

We found this by accident but so pleased that we have. Beautiful meal very tasty and friendly staff.

We all had the Sunday lunch, the service was good and the meat and most of the veg was good. Except for the roast potatoes, I believe they sat on the plate before being brought out and sat on a surface that keeps the plates warm, so the potatoes were a bit burnt on the bottom and tough to cut. There was six of us and nearly every chair needed to be repaired, basically the joints of the chairs are loose and rocking side to side.

We had a very warm welcome from Salvatore. We had a lovely table with plenty of room for the four of us and two dogs. We were looked after very well all evening, food was good, service excellent and it was reasonably priced.

1st visit today, both me and the wife both chose the Sunday carvery, the pair were more than satisfied with the meals ate all of mine and my wife only finished half of hers as it was very filling. 10/10 to the venue and all of the staff,we will make a return visit.

Like the atmosphere & food, our waitress Maria was, welcoming, professional, attentive and polite as usual, a credit to the restaurant. Salvatore is also a great ambassador for the restaurant. Many thanks to chef and colleagues.

We had a table of four booked on Monday , singer was on who had a great voice . We have been here numerous occasions and always had great service and food on this occasion we left disappointed order was taken and starters came soup was ok the other starters were hard as if they had been reheated , but before we had finished the starters our main meals arrived we had to ask for cutlery and had to go to the bar to request sauces . The chicken schnitzel was burnt and at no time did the waiting staff ask if we were happy with the food such a shame was made to feel like they wanted us out as payment was requested as soon as my friend had put their knife and fork down

I had the pie of the day for lunch. Very nice pie but the accompanying mash and veg were luke warm. Clearly reheated and not freshly prepared. And not heated enough. When mentioned to staff, they seemed unbothered by the feedback. Definitely had better pub lunches.

Went here for my mum's birthday and it was lovely evening. The ambience was great with clean and cosy seating under lamplight. The food was simple but well cooked, great flavours and presented well. Our server was Danny who was very attentive and personable, cannot fault his service. Would return, this location is fab.

Nice clean pub, nice staff. We had a few beers, some scratchings and some burgers. All good. Would go again. Nice area for walking along the canal too.

The pub is in a great location. There is a large seating area but booking is essential. You will be disappointed if you don’t pre-book. Booking online is easy. The food is good, popular dishes sell out quickly especially on a Sunday.

I had the calamari starter which was delectable. For my main I had the scrumptious 10oz rib eye, which was on par with Miller and Carters steak if not better, shame there isn’t a 14oz option as I would have opted for that. For dessert I had the lemon tart, it was scrumdidlyumpcious. The service was also great. Had brilliant service from Ryan will come again as I have done before 😃

Bearing in mind this is one of my local restaurants, on this occasion it failed, To uphold the quality of food purchased on the day, something that doesnt happen very often. Especially in this Restaurant. The food on this visit was bland, lacked flavour, and in all a disappointing meal to say the least. Unfortunately the Pork Belly Has disappeared from the main menu, knowingly one of the very best dishes that this restaurant has served for quite some time now. Such a shame. Please return this Main meal to the menu asap. In future I will be watching the menu to see if it returns before booking a table. Ps on this occasion the warm Chorizo Scotch Egg was a let down, & the Mac n Cheese was flavourless.

Lovely pub but let down by the food. My partner and i had the mac and cheese, it was so dry and a very small portion. We ordered fries but were given chunky chips. Our friend ordered a chicken and avocado salad, the chicken was hard and dry and there was no avocado. Certainly won't be eating here again.

Delicious food but too many items from the menu not available. Make sure you've got a plan B...
