Merdo's Fish Bar in West Lothian

As in the title. The fish had a nice, crispy batter. Quick service, tv while waiting, they do deliveries

Normally have no problems but ordered today, and I appreciate it’s Christmas Eve, but we were given a 45 minute ETA on our food. Phoned after 1hr 15mins to be told they were really busy and the food was still there - yes, getting colder and colder as the clock ticked. Had to push for an ETA and was again told they were really busy so probably 30 minutes or so . . . . No problem with take aways being busy but set a realistic ETA and prepare my food closer to the estomated pickup time so it’s not cold when it arrives!

Good range of tasty food, well prepared and all rounded off with a good chat with the guys in the shop.

Tasty, fresh food, large portions. Nicely done, hot, prices very reasonable. We had a fish supper, delicious fresh fish and a Donner meat with chips. Very good, but a little salty. Friendly staff, will definitely be back!

Ordered a meal at 8.20 tonight a special fish n chips kebab meat nearlly a hour later had to phone to c where meal was got told on the way 10 mins later phoned again The meal finally arrived the fish was over cooked n brick hard the chips n kebab meat crap waste of £14.80 as it went right in the bin WILL NEVER USE THIS CHIPPIE AGAIN N I WORK IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY n get asked to recommened take aways WILL NEVER RECOMMENED THIS ONE

Really nice chippy, good quality food and the best potato fritters I’ve had. Very generous portion and not greasy at all. Quick service in store and online

I gave 4 out 5 due to a few things.I have ordered pizza and everytime the driver has thought he was F1 driver so the pizza has slid to one side of box along with the cheese and toppings. Most chip shop products are always lovely especially the fish and battered mushrooms and onion rings.The shish kebab needs a bit more seasoning and a naan or pitta bread rather than a wrap but that is just a personal preference.I love the make your own pizza with a choice of 1-4 toppings of your own choice.Could be doing with stocking Pepsi Max though.

It's probably not good to boast about having tried many of the fish and chip places between West Calder and Edinburgh. So much for the healthy lifestyle then.I've found so many of the chip shops in West Lothian to serve a rather soggy portion of chips and battered fish (along with deep frayed pizza and even pies). Having added inches round the waist eating in chip shops in London and the South, I find the absence of their crisp batter and chips in central Scotland, along with having no choice of fish, really disappointing.Merdos is a breath of fresh air in this regard. On 3 recent visits, chips and fish have been well cooked, with good sized portions at a reasonable price. Kebabs are tasty too!If you are in or visiting the Livingston area, I'd encourage you to give Merdos a try. I'd even say it's as good as some of the highly rated places along the Fife coast!

Very good food! Fish supper was more like a whale supper, very big portion. Definitely be returning here. Great to see another chippy offering a gluten free option!

Great food here. Husband had fish and chips and said the chips were excellent. I had a jacket potato and the side salad was lovely! Onion rings fab and huge portion. Good value. Very enjoyable.

Talk about value for money! Merdo's is great, portion sizes are awesome and the food tastes really good, some of it you'd not even think of it as takeaway. Delivery times are always good and we've never had a cold or unpleasant meal yet.

Just had a fish supper and my wife had a gluten free fish supper excellent large fish crispy batter tasty. The gluten free is cooked in its own vat chips too. Well done was worth the 10 minute wait. Definitely be back for more.

Thought I would give Merdos a try as my local fish and chip shop has been a bit hit or miss lately and had received a menu through the door. Only ordered chips and curry sauce and it was delicious. The shop was spotlessly clean, the staff were very nice and the service was very quick. Would definitely go again.

Was recommend to this chip shop by a friend. Have found food has been delicious every time I have ordered. Staff friendly over the phone and helpful.
