Maura's Bakery in Chelmsford

A small bakery inside the Chelmsford Market. Unassuming. They didn't have the cream puff swans that tempted me here, but they did have something that looked like (to my US eyes) a light chocolate ice cream sandwich. I was told the filling is Belgian buttercream, sandwiched between two shortbread cookies. Absolutely delicious, and decadent. Better than a cream puff swan.

So pleased to have this gem on my doorstep. The bread is delicious, we have had the oil bread, sourdough and multigrain sourdough and it is some of the best bread I have ever eaten. I can’t wait to try more of what is on offer and would recommend Maura’s bakery to anyone.

Great little find hidden away in the heart of Chelmsford. Stumbled by yesterday, so good, delicious pizza, amazing coffee & the friendliest staff. My little boy & I will definitely go back again!

Stunning! First time visit today having walked past it a few times. Staff amazing went out of their way to toast some bread for us to have (we purchased the loaf) . It happened to be my birthday and came over with a slice of one of their delicious cakes plus a candle (which apparently they had popped out into the market to buy) exceeded our expectations by a country mile ……. Well done all involved in this delightful coffee stop

Five stars all the way I was Recommended this place by a friend and they were correct had a veg lasagna to take away and of course some amazing bread and cannolis i think you have a repeat customer now would recommend to anyone

Today I had the delight of visiting this lovely little Italian cafe and enjoying a coffee and delicious home made authentic Italian cake. Its a real hidden gem and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their amazing food.

Hidden Gem within the Chelmsford Market. Regularly visit for bread and amazing pastries, my favourite is the cinnamon bun. Stopped by for pizza today and it was amazing! So much better and authentic when compared to the restaurant chains and very well priced. I took home some Arancini - Italian rice balls for later and these didn’t disappoint. A lovely family run business, would fully recommend a visit.

I love Maura's Bakery I visit several times a week sometimes twice a day. The attached picture is of what we haven't eaten yet today. Two of the cinnamon swirls have already been eaten. Everything is delicious that we have eaten and it is all homemade including the bread rolls.

The best lasagna ever, especially the broccoli one. Pizza is superb.

The best bakery in Chelmsford! I wouldn’t buy bread anywhere else. The cannoli and other sweet pastries are out of this world. And you can grab pizza, arancini or pasta bake of the day for a delicious lunch!
