My daughter treated me to Afternoon tea at Mary & Martha's tea room today. From the moment we walked in the door we just sensed peace and tranquility. While we waited we observed how friendly, welcoming and helpful Donna (the owner) and Linda were. They were so caring to elderly customers who were in. We heard some say they come every day! Afternoon tea was absolutely gorgeous. All home made with love. That smell and taste of homemade is something hard to find nowadays, in our commercialised, artificial world. Mary & Martha's took me back to good old days. The homemade vegetable soup was piping hot and so tasty and needed no seasoning. Sandwiches were delicious. Sausage rolls were really well filled and scrumptious. The home made smell of the food just made you want to eat it! Everything was just perfect! Donna introduced herself and checked we were happy with our food a few times and took time for a chat. The personal touch is really so important and much missed nowadays. We were really impressed with our experience from start to finish and will definitely return to sample some of the beautiful lunches.

It's a good enough spot, the staff are nice, the food is pretty good, but £9.60 for two white bread sandwiches. London prices in Ahoghill! Guys - you're having a laugh....

First visit, beautiful small quaint restaurant. Called for coffee and scone which was lovely, in lovely surroundings. Order tray bake unfortunately had to ask a further two times. Unfortunately coffee was now cold and I did have other commitments. I was disappointed with service, but perhaps would go back if service was sharper. Pity. But owner can at least take note. Don’t like giving neg .feed back

When you've got a name that rings of originality the expectation for something different is heightened. That was the case when, for the first time, I joined family and friends for refreshments at this venue. The welcome was immediate, reflecting a well trained staff and the choice of food was just up our street - a variety of scones and some pastry treats to tempt the taste buds. The tea was excellent as was the coffee and the scones accompanied by the nicest jam I think I've ever sampled received all round praise. We weren't looking or expecting fine dining - Mary and Martha's Vintage Tea Room isn't that type of place but it oozes atmosphere, and the entire ambience of the place suggests some clever thinking about designing a venue that has a quaintness I imagine makes it a popular venue. No doubt local residents of Ahoghill will be well aware of Mary and Martha's tea room and give it strong patronage. The food is freshly cooked and there's an all-day fry available. It really is a hidden gem and well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area - five minutes from Ballymena would take you there - a journey well worth it.

Disappointed on this occasion for this reason.Very surprised at staff smoking on their break in full view at rear entrance to tearoom. We were at the window and very off-putting as smell coming in window. Also we had to wait at counter few times for staff to come in to attend to us.Donna the owner had just left as we came in.Food was lovely and staff friendly but this put both of us off I'm afraid.

Amazing hidden gem in Ahoghill............. visited today for lunch after recommendation by my sister. I was not disappointed..........toasted chicken wrap with fresh salad, copious amounts of tea served in a beautiful china teapot and the most delicious pineapple cream for dessert! Staff were very friendly and helpful. I traveled a round trip of 50 miles and it was definitely worth the journey.

Only discovered this place in the past week despite having driven past it on numerous occasions. Shop frontage is small and easy to miss so would be unlikely to attract passers by, although the location in a quiet village of Ahoghill would not have much in the way of passing trade anyway. Therefore Mary and Martha's must rely on personal recommendation. I am happy to oblige. Step inside the front door and you immediately feel welcome. Despite the narrow frontage there is ample space inside and tables and chairs are beautifully painted in pastel colours. Staff are very welcoming and all food is freshly cooked including their selection of all day breakfasts. For those with a sweet tooth there is also a good selection of home baked cakes, scones and tray bakes. All delicious and very reasonably priced. The classification of vintage tea room might conjure up warm cosy feelings for some older clientele but it actually has just as much of an artisan coffee shop feel about it and should appeal to all ages. I would definitely highly recommend Mary and Martha's. Go give it a try.

Went for lunch, tea and scones with the girls this week for the first time - this will definitely be a regular spot from now on! The girls there were so lovely and helpful, excellent customer service - even topping up our pot of tea constantly despite us staying chatting for ours! Decor is gorgeous with the cutest vintage tea sets. The food was incredible - homemade scones with cream and jam were fab! The cutest little spot!

I honestly believe my friend has had the wool pulled over her eyes about here being good as that is not my opinion. The woman who my friend said was the owner had little to no respect. Prices were too high for the mediocre food I received and it took far too long to get the food. Owner just throws the food on your table with no smile or anything. Absoute drivel in here. Avoid I say.

While the service here is brilliant, I have to say it takes far too long for the food to be made. I waited 55 minutes for my meal. I would say I would be prepared to wait if the coffee didn't cool down in moments. Cleanliness does really need improving here. Another major let down about this place is the lack of Wi-Fi, like this is the first eatery I've been in that doesn't contain it.

What a lovely little cafe. Everything is freshly made. We had French toast tea and coffee after a walk through Portglenone Forrest. Just great to sit and relax and enjoy the decor of bric a brac and a chat

So excited to finally go here with my daughter but the experience wasn't what I expected. For the prices there is no table service you have to order at the till. I was not advised correctly when asking about the Spanish hot chocolate. It isn't a drink it comes in a bowl for dipping biscuits in. I specifically asked was it like a normal hot chocolate you could drink and was told yes. I ordered coffee and 2 savoury pancakes. Paying by card I was asked to select what tip I wanted to leave. Feeling like I had no option I left one. Then we waited on our food. I had to go and order tea after the "drinks" arrived as the Spanish hot chocolate is not a drink and leave another tip. We waited again and after 35 minutes of waiting I asked for a refund. To be told that the food order hadn't been sent to the kitchen. We didn't have time to wait any longer. When the refund was being done they didn't ask what of your tip you would like refunded. I don't mind paying for service but we didn't get any. Can't review the food as we didn't get any of that. Won't be back. Sometimes best to stick to the places you know.

A wonderful find on our way home from a night away. Welcoming staff, gorgeous decor and incredible food all at the one place 🥰 French toast was devine, Turkish eggs was something new we decided to try and the peanut butter twice was heavenly 🤤

Food really lovely. Food was hot and arrived quite quick. Our only problem was with the service. We were upstairs. When the guy brought out the Birthday cake he didn't bring plates or a knife. Left the cake down and disappeared. We waited for 5 or 6 minutes and then I went to look for him to ask for these. Eventually he brought some but weren't asked if we wanted any tea or coffee. Would return for food again as it was so tasty and hope that we'd get seated downstairs and not forgot about

This was the first time I was in this little cafe. I was pleasantly impressed by the friendlies and helpful staff, especially the girl with blonde hair tied up. I had a sweet chilli chicken with sweetcorn and mayo toastie with a side salad and a small half shot decaf cappuccino sprinkled with chocolate 😋 I will call in again. If I am in Ballymena 😊
