Marina Grill & Restaurant in Newham

We researched this restaurant and noted that it had a rating of 3. We took a chance and ordered a meal for three members of our family. In my view, this is the worst restaurant I have ever visited. They food was gross: it had clearly been cooked at an earlier date and had been poorly reheated. All of the accompanying appetisers were stale and the sauces were made by a amateur. The food was a general disaster and I was desperately hoping that I did not get food poisoning. The restaurant was apparently under new management. The lady who greeted us was pleasant but inexperienced. We liked her and, in my view, she would be an asset to any business. It was not her fault that she was working for cowboys. I have given this restaurant a '1' but if possible would have given it nil. It is a matter for you the reader to decide where you eat but I will not return to that awful place.

Manna Wa Salwa Grill and Restaurant is the best Indian Authentic Restaurant in London. I go there regularly to eat with family and friends. Foods are really fresh and delicious as well as excellent services. I strongly recommended to go and enjoy the real tasty Foods. Amazing

Manna Wa Salwa Grill Restaurant is the best Restaurant, Everything is excellent fresh and tasty. I go regularly to eat there. The viewing also very amazing. I had a Birth day party last week and we all enjoyed so much.

Had a bad experience in the hotel ,we went to the restaurant with family and friends as we were living in near by hotel (Notvotel excel ) we went to get dinner something Indian cuisine as that is just behind our hotel. But meanwhile we were asking and enquiring about food our little 6 year old girl wanted to use loo which we knew as was mentioned on The glass door in the entrance of hotel only for customers.We were aware of that but as we had a plan to dine in there we did explained same to the lady and the guy who were the only staffs there and when they told toilets are allowed for only customers,my wife explained we are here to dine in then only she let the little girl use the toilet.after that when we were discussing about the food to be ordered the guy told us if you are looking for pizza go to another shop on the corner in a judgemental way assuming we were there for using toilet alone or they thought or judged we can't affortd don't know and don't know how to put their facial expressions in words here.But felt disrespected ,Insulted and humiliated. We were in total 7 adults and 8 kids and if we had to use toilet we could have gone to our luxurious toilet In hotel room which was on the way to this place.I am writing in detail here what exactly happened there as when we put our concerns to be heard it was again slammed on us saying basically we went there only to use toilet ,that was the reply from the owner himself.which kind off makes me realise they don't want to correct the attitude rather want us to remove our genuine review .Hence I would like to be heard and approached in the right way.only our little girl a 6 year old not anyone else out of 15 others used the loo. And when we were asking why they are suggesting us to go to pizza shop the guy and lady there spoke to each other In Their language something and they asked us ridiculously if we were actually planning to dine in why our whole group of 15 people did not enter the restaurant. I mean we thought we would decide as the group comprised of 8 kids who could be a bit noisy and chatty to wait outside after ordering as the space for dining is less also no outside dining chairs were there. But the way we were still asked why and sarcastic tone was upsetting and highly disrespectful. We asked if we can speak to someone who is responsible they both said this restaurant have no one like that and they are the only ones who decides .they are managers they are owners .but after seeing the reply to our fellow people review I guess it is true. So basically I have brought down the original scenario in words now don't threaten me to take of my review or edit as I am spending my time for reviewing cause I genuinely think you should really investigate and do the rightful thing.

Nice food, not the best but was nice enough. Good price for what we had. Service was good, the lady was lovely and the food came out quickly and was lovely and hot. Big downfall for this place is the atmosphere, wasn’t the nicest of restaurants in terms of decor and cleanliness. All seems a little used and old and could do with some TLC. We were the only people there and there was a TV on in the background which we found felt like we were in someone’s kitchen. However with a little TLC and a change of atmosphere I feel this place has good potential.

The food was delicious and very nicely prepared. The staff was very friendly and attentive. But the LED strips were annoying. Overall it was great, but the equipment still needs work

Butter chicken was not like any butter chicken I’ve ever had. It was horrible. Jalfrezi was very bland and chicken tandoori was tasteless. The poppadoms & dips were the only nice part of the meal

I have just made my most recent visit to this restaurant and realise I have never reviewed it so here goes. The food is superb (beef starter, chicken tikka main), the service prompt and friendly. The internal ambience is not fantastic but the views are obviously pretty good. My friends and I always eat here at least once during events at the Excel which is very close by. I appreciate that people can have different experiences at different times but I am surprised by some of the reviews on here as over the last 18 months or so and multiple visits I have never had anything other than a really good experience.

Have never tasted Indian food like this before, unfortunately not in a good way. The butter chicken was in a sauce with a very unpleasant texture that tasted nothing like any butter chicken I’ve ever had… food took 2 hours and we actually went to the front to pay because we were entertaining clients and it was obvious everyone was done by that point. Friendly waitstaff though and conveniently located.

Guys please take care whilst eating. I found a glass in my seek kebab which is very dangerous.

The service was very slow considering we was the only people in the entire restaurant. The portion sizes were extremely small considering the price and compared to most other Indian restaurants I have been to. And the food was microwaved. We heard the microwave ting 3 times for each thing we ordered. (Curry, rice, bread) I have never left a restaurant genuinely angry with the food

Small restaurant facing the marina where we were very well received. Fresh food and better than a few years ago. An unpretentious place but a safe bet for eating well close to the hotels.

Erg lekker gegeten hier. Alles was heel erg smaakvol en van goede kwaliteit. De chef komt uit Bangladesh en ze koken duidelijk met veel liefde en zorg en de bediening was erg vriendelijk. Ik kan dit restaurant van harte aanbevelen.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely experience and delightful meal at around 8.30 p.m All staff was great and the chef was amazing.

Let me start by saying I’ve tried and tasted 100s of Indian Restaurants throughout the UK and Europe and this has to be up there with one of the nicest places in terms of food and location. I had just got off a long delayed train journey and was very hungry so I popped in to one of the closest places that was open. As it was the middle of the day, I was the only diner in there (bliss) Although you might think, why such a positive review not receiving 5 stars. Well, the surprise came when receiving the bill and there was an extra charge on there for a chutney tray which wasn’t ordered, many authentic Indian restaurants provides this as a gratis when ordering popadom plus there was an extra service charge which was extremely awkward as I have never once had been propositioned to pay a service charge and unfamiliar with the concept of what they are. Other than that, can’t really fault the place, compliments to the chef for a fantastic job, don’t change what you are doing! Just something to be mindful of that not everyone is aware of such hidden charges and is unexpected. Would I visit again, absolutely 100% yes.

Most rubbish Indian meal I have had in my entire life. The service was less than sub standard. Most restaurants ask if anyone want drinks this didn’t happen. We sat outside as it was a nice day. Staff didn’t come to wipe the table which didn’t look the best and they provided no table cloth although all the tables inside had them. Staff didn’t provide white napkins which all the tables inside had napkins. I had to ask twice for cutlery which they handed to us rather than going round the table and set it properly like most restaurants do. When I reminded them again about napkins they brought blue paper towels and put it on a saucer for us to distribute ourselves. The attire of one of the servers was also shameful. She was wearing a crushed r-shirt like she had just picked it up off her bedroom floor and came to work. Completely unacceptable. After a long wait the meals when the meals came the portions sizes were tiny. My husband paid an over £33 for a meal for two. The chicken was red full of food colouring. Only one person in our group who got a rice dish got a decent size meal but his meat portion in it was so minuscule it might as well not even have been on his plate. I ordered a mocktail, a mixture of juices which tasted watered down. Even your average Indian restaurant doesn’t taste as below average as this place. On top of the lack of value for money my daughter came home after her prawn masala and threw up her entire meal. It was obvious it was food poisoning I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. How they are allowed to still be open is beyond my comprehension. It was shamefully bad.

Even though it is small restaurant, it was very disorganised!! We also had to wait over an hour an a half for the food (we lost our appetite by then). Only then we were told they they didn’t have mushroom rice and proceeded to serve vegetable rice without asking.. No apologies from the staff for the delay.. what can we say?!?

Come here if you want your food served after MINIMUM of one HOUR. They clearly don’t know who ordered what. A single Papadom took them more than an hour to arrive only after we said cancel the order and the staff was not even aware we ordered or not and had to recheck. Clearly Indians were paid less attention to at this restaurant. We noticed 2 tables more of Indians who seemed frustrated. The quantity was so so so less that even after calling for 3 course meals we had to go home and have dinner again. The price is too high for the quantity honestly. Bad bad bad… never ever recommend anyone. Also our friend suggested not to go there but we still wanted to try. Bad

Pathetic restaurant by all means. From ambience to service to taste, everything was third class. On top of that charging high rates for nothing. Highly disappointing experience for me & my family who went all the way from Oxford to have trip to ExCel London. The management of this restaurant needs to take emergency measures to save this drowning restaurant.

Last night I visited there. They have open kitchen freshly cooked. Foods are really tasty, behavior was appreciatable.

PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!! service and food was absolutely horrific. Ordered a chicken tika masala with 2 tandoori rotis, portion of fries and a plate of salad. So overly priced for what you get ( the tiniest of portions). Waited over an hour for our food to arrive and also seemed like the table next to us were complaining about the waiting time as-well. When the food finally arrived it was in some little plate and genuinely looked like some chicken mixed with ketchup- tasted like it too, it was horrific and so were the rotis. Chips were average we ate some of them and payed for this too. After talking to the managers and telling them we haven’t eaten this because its disgusting they tried making excuses saying we ordered something else. Everything was horrible at this place and we walked out 2 hours later starving- still somehow payed £13 for 2 rotis , a portion of chips and some salad. A joke if i’m being honest. Please please do not come to this place. Needs some serious fixing up.

Just got back from this place, what a terrible service. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains with a starter which was apperantly very difficult. When it was finally understood, we waited for over an hour for the starters (chicken tikka and chicken chanbad or something). When we asked how much longer, we were told 5min. We got up after 10 and asked to go as by that time it was close to 1,5hrs - for some pieces of chicken... The worst thing of the experience: 1. We found out every table was complaining about the long wait so they should have either mot offered us a table or warned us in advance. 2. No apologies made at all(!) 3. They made us pay for a water and a coke after all this which leaves a sour taste in my mouth, they could have just let that go considering what happened.

We waited for one and half hour for the food. And when it came staff missed out some of the dishes and we had to adjust with what we got. Customer service was awful.

One star only because I can not give less than one. Absolutely waste of money. Staff don't know how to behave to their customers. Rude and ridiculous. Had to wait for one hour 30 minute for the food, the staff don't know who orders what, they don't know the word sorry once they did a mistake. They charged around 5 pounds as a service charge for giving no proper service. I never recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

Just had an amazing meal here, starter, main and side for £18, all the food was was delicious, perfectly cooked and not too spicy. Only thing to bear in mind is no alcohol license, so popped into Tesco around to corner and picked up some wine & beer. Would highly recommend this place if you’re staying near the Excel, great service too.

The food was good - but very unsatisfactory service. We arrived at 8:15pm and only received around food at 10pm. We asked multiple times about the status of our food and each time we got vague or unclear answers.

This is a disgrace of a freaking restaurant. We ordered food and waited 2 hours! Every time we asked what happened, they lied to our faces. Multiple people came and went and they ignored us. In the end, they come over, tell us that the tandoor is off, and they cannot fulfill half our order. Never again, rude staff and terrible service.

Lovely attentive and welcoming staff. All food prepared fresh as you order and was stunning. Lovely Lamb Rogan. Every piece was tender, rich and well spiced. Can not fault either dishes or sides. My partner and I were very impressed.

Came here for dinner last night and it was absolutely lovely. Service was incredible, all of the staff so attentive and ensured we were happy throughout the duration. Food was up there with the best curry I have ever had, everything was just perfect. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area.

On a busy Saturday night they had one chef, all food was cooked fresh but it took 1.5 hours to receive 5 starters and no one was receiving their mains. We had to leave to get a taxi after nearly 2 hours, we asked to pay for our starters and drinks and the staff were quite rude and pushy to get us to stay. Kept telling us the food was nearly ready but we kept waiting and other customers weren't getting any food either. Such a shame as we were looking forward to food, and the starters we had were very nice, but really should have made it clear it would be a very long wait and be more polite if people need to leave

We reserved a table for 8 people ahead of our visit, ordered food within 15 minutes of arrival and waited nearly 2 hours before any food arrived at our table. These were just our starters. Do not dine here unless you have an extended parking ticket.

We arrived just after 8:30pm and have only just been served; it's now 10:10pm. Another group just left for that reason, we were very tempted to do similar. Another couple have just asked when they are going to be served. The food itself is fairly nice but feels very insubstantial after the wait - it's not even especially busy. They're now arguing that the wait is part of the authentic Indian food experience and that we should have known it would take an hour and a half? Which feels inaccurate, to put it kindly.

Not managing guest sensibly…don’t go for take away in this restaurant. Horrible service .. if you order for dinner you will get food at breakfast time. Min waiting more than 90min. Don’t know why they accept Take away if it’s their least priority 😡. They are behind money first but food , customer satisfaction it’s the least… worst experience in UK London #Indian restaurant..

The food was ok; definitely missing flavor. We paid £11 for 8pieces of chicken. There was definitely some kind of miscommunication between the server and the cooks.

We are here for a convention at the Excel center. It was a short walk away and it was really good food! The staff were friendly and it was right on the waterway. Highly recommend.

It tasted pretty good, but the portion was a little bit to small. The service was nice, the waitor always asked If everything was fine. Just that the Drinks were served in cans was strange. It was not to expensive, affordable. Nothing Special but OK.

Ambience: TV in the corner playing news on silent. Some light music in the background would be better. Staff: Friendly enough but slow. FYI they do not serve alcohol but BYI. Food: Average. Had chicken Karai, sauce was tasty but chicken seemed dry and and a bit tough. Mango chutney was watery and bland. Overall: Much improvement needed. It’s a prime location but very average food.

Very very bad restaurant - location is decent and view ok BUT they pretend to do a deal for 15 £ : food was absolutely horrible and tasteless . They charged 1.50£ for a popodum .I asked for vegetarian samosa they brought me spring rolls claiming it was the same ; my guest had a tasteless piece of tandoori chicken , the main dish was bathing in oil absolutely no taste and disgusting and when they say side dish it actually means rice or naan . We also ordered drinks ie fresh juice … paying 3.95 £ for cheap packed pomegranate juice each seemed much . Total scam please avoid yourself the pain !

Visit this restaurant every time we’re working at Excel and after working our way through most of the menu everything is fantastic and excellent value with service with a smile. Will be back tomorrow 👌🏻

Poor service. The dish wish was served had a long strand of HAIR in it and the waiter didn't even bother apologizing. Finally while he was giving the bill, I was offered an 8 pound discount even though I didn't bother eating the food after I found the hair. This was after he messed up the order twice. Will never go back to this place.

Went with the Mrs. On our first anniversary since we were staying at the nearby Yatch hotel. Taste was okay but we liked it since we were very hungry. The chef is from Bangladesh so its a bangla fusion and thus not authentic north indian food. Staff was good and pricing just about right.

If it was possible to give a 0 rating I would give that. The rudest staff I have ever seen before ! Prices different to menu online and at the window and also half the food on the menu is not sold anymore. Get told that poppadom was free but charged us £5 for 4 don’t recommend this place to anyone the waiter was watching over us until we ordered trying to get us to order food after saying we don’t like it. Be aware this restaurant is a scam as also online it said 10% off for orders over £20 and got told it wasn’t this restaurant gives false advertisement for the menu and price. Also ordered a coke and it was flat and warm

Food was nice , tad bit expensive though .one negative was the waiter being a little over bearing upon us looking at the menu at the door , felt rushed into making decisions, luckily this time we stayed but may puy others off .
