Mari Blu in West Lothian

2024 Update - Best in West Lothian for a Pizza and probably a few other things. :) Been going here 30+ years and still my favourite for value and flavour when it comes to Pizza or anything Italian, but their fried produce such as chips/fish are also very good, no extra oil/grease and very tasty! One of my favourites is just a straight Margarita but with added Garlic Tomato, the base and sauce they use is good as it is with the perfectly buttery mozarella, but the Roasted/Tomato and Garlic adds another very tasty dimension - Basic but good quality ingredients giving loads of flavour, I'd say it's almost the perfect italian related pizza when it comes to very good quality ingredients versus what you pay. -Stu.

Asked for 2 portions of curry spring rolls and cut them up to then realise they were not curry spring rolls. So in the bin they go

This chip shop/takeaway has been in Livingston station for decades. It does excellent chip shop food and also does cheeseburger meals which have chips like McDonald's/burger king but better! Definitely place to order food in west lothian.

Pasta dishes....pasta was great...but supposed to have a 10 garlic bread included. What I got was 4 tiny slices of garlic bread. Called to complain and to be fair offered to send out a 10" garlic bread, but by then it's too late....refused the freebie....just do what you advertised.

Just ordered special fish supper it was lovely best fish I've tasted for a long time will be ordering again thank you.

45 mines late, doner and chicken kebab only had 2 bits of chicken... Kebab meat horrible and must of been last night's. Chips soggy and greasy. Kebab used to come with peppers now just a dump of lettuce and soggy onions.. Poor used to be great... Put everything in bin apart from the 2 chicken bits',,, Lost my business and used to eat there every month going to do a review last time but though I would give them another go incase they had a bad day... 2 bad days not acceptable. Sorry

Went in for some food and never will I eat out here again! Food is awful! Rolls are days old and hard fallen apart with butter and good inch thick because the can’t even be bothered to butter the roll correct. My advice stay clear and avoid go somewhere else

Best chippy in Livingston. Cheaper than anywhere I’ve been. Cheery staff. Lovely fish. Thoroughly recommend.

Asked for the salad and sauce to be separate as the owner loves to drown your kebab in chilu, no salad or sauce when I get home, they can’t even get your order right, even in person

Normally not bad but tonight this is an apology for a side salad at £2.40

Chips are amazing. White pudding was OK.

Got a calzone tonight looked like it had been chucked about thought I'll eat it anyway was awful won't be ordering again!

Absolute shocking food stone cold would need a saw to cut the fish called shop to complain staff very rude would not recommend to anyone

Lovely people, they know how to make their customers feel welcomed, Food is delicious, went for pizza and the fish supper they give is unreal! Would definitely recommend others and coming on a regular basis.

How very sad, this used to be a great chip shop. I originally rated it 4 stars (only just narrowly missing out on 5 stars). I don't know if it's now under new management, BUT after a recent very negative 'experience', I've felt the need to revoke & completely reverse my original opinion. The stinking attitude of the current dreadful staff when they got a very simple order wrong & at a time when the shop was quiet (we simply ordered a Haddock supper, half pizza in batter supper & a portion of fritters, hardly rocket science...). Obviously, we all make mistakes from time to time, but if you simply accept responsibility, apologise & do your best to correct it, then there is no real harm done, most decent folks would happily accept your apology & everyone can then carry on with their lives. However, when you get confronted by an arrogant imbecile who tries to blame YOU, THE CUSTOMER by accusing YOU of getting your very own & very simple order wrong (especially when you have someone standing directly beside you as you place your order & they clearly hear every word) & then they send you away with only part of your order...you can't help but get frustrated. We only noticed the mistakes after we'd left the shop & sat down to eat. I immediately called the shop & this is when the bad attitude really turned vile. The food itself was very disappointing. I've almost always thoroughly enjoyed a haddock supper from here but coincidentally on this occasion it was fraught with bones & was very greasy, the portion of fritters were also extremely greasy as was the half pizza supper that was SUPPOSED to be in batter & even the chips were cold... The diabolical staff were particularly confrontational, aggressive & extremely rude. Needless to say, they will never again draw a penny from my pocket. There are vast many other takeaways, more than happy to serve you as a customer should be & I wonder just how long any business can survive with such depraved staff??? What a terrible shame & yet another dreadful example of the vile attitude that is all around us at this moment in time...

Fish was great but chips were awfull Must have been reheated. Haggis was Good also.

Cracking grub at decent price, refrigerated buckfast for the more discerning man although at a premium price.

Phoned order ahead of collection . Fish suppers were ready when I got there! Staff friendly and helpful.

Very dry donner meat. Once found a plastic in my pizza, when called to complain they didn't believe me, they laughed and asked me over and over what kind of plastic it is, where did it came from etc then they just hang up on me. I rather spend my money somewhere else where customer is actually respected.

Collected a Cod fish supper. Best chips I’ve had in s very long time, superb. Fish was lovely, fresh with crispy batter. Great experience

Wasn't to bad makes up his own prices as his day pleases him 2 times I've been in with different prices Was better when the girls where there at least they made conversation with you And glad the old man's away dodent like the way he spoke to the staff

Always use mari blu for our chippy deliveries but last twice have ruined it for us. Last time arrived 40 mins after est delivery time(after a phone to see where it was) and was cold , this time a good 30 mins late , pizza's and chips were barely warm and 16" margarita barely had any cheese on it .Not great and unfortunately last time we will be using them!!!

Order from mari blu, was giving delivery time 5:40. Phone store twice first was told food was still there this was at 5:50 so foods 10 mins late no explaintion or apologie for lateness, then phoned again at 6:10 food was with driver but no apology was giving even when I said it was 30 mins late as I'm leaving this review it's probably going to be 1 hour late. No reasoning or apologie. Even for a chip shop expected better horrible service won't use this chip shop again.

Only 10.20pm and there shutting up shop looks like nothing in the mad heat boxes thingies raging only get 3 for the burger standards went down since Giuseppe left

Got a delivery tonight and ordered pepper corn chicken but they have to calm down on the peppers corns as there is far to many in there could only eat some off it tonight and the rest went in the bin as far to strong never AGAIN

This has been my local chippy for 30 years , nice clean food that is cooked good and not greasy . Pizzas are lovely

Best chippy in Scotland. We travel from Stirling to Deans just for a fish supper, it's that good. We've had suppers from chippys far north in Scotland to the south with numerous in between, Mari Blu are by far the best we've tried. Worth the 80m round trip, we still try others but they win hands down, so far.

Chips were really greasy, did not enjoy at all! We gave this place a second chance after a bad first experience but definitely won't be back again.

Online app will not allow log in via google as it claims it a security issue (hey, they offer login via that portal). In the shop they will not honour the online prices so went elsewhere. Also, be wary of ordering as they will spam your phone with texts, the number to STOP number DOES NOT WORK! The food may be good, but the support has lost my custom.

First ever poor service from Mari Blu. Order arrived 40 mins earlier than estimated...it was cold,well luke warm and not nice. Delivery driver said had to phone shop,I did was promptly told 'Nothing we can do about it!' Customer service is non existent! Disgraceful...Also ordered cheesecake which was lovely....... once it had defrosted!

They never get your order right like

Charged me 8.10 for a pizza that was advertised at 6.10. Shocking customer service, told me I was wrong even though the create your own 12” pizza is clearly advertised at £6.10

Ordered a cheese pizza 50 mins ago for me and the kids would have thought they cooked it and kept it in the fridge and sent it from the fridge it was that cold pointless ordering pizza from here they clearly have no idea off how a pizza should be served will be swerving here in the future

Absolutely terrible tried to short change me on the amount of food bought. I used the place once or twice a week I will not be back a very sneeky move poor show mari blu lost a good customer and as many more as I can make you. Moral of the story is be honest I know lots of hard working italian chippy/pizzeria owners all over Edinburgh and West lothian and will make sure people have a good laugh. Things must be hard lol

Ordered dinner to phone 1hr and 10mins later to see where the delivery was to be told it hadn’t even been made yet!

Customer service horrendous, extremely impolite and downright rude from staff in shop... Had lots of food from there and recommended to all family and friends,, will certainly be advising not to use again.. la capana a few minutes away is much better with customer service and value for money, as food a lot fresher

Absolutely shocking service phoned twice to enquire about delivery and the second person I spoke too was arrogant no manners and hung the phone up as I was asking if they could not phone delivery driver! Text message and email stating delivery time which I was informed is not a true time! Food came stone cold and totally inedible! Tango blast was cold though! Very very poor service

Well what can I say ordered food from here tonight and it was inedible. Cold, overcooked and vile. The owner also made a pass at my dog but my dogs fussy and didn’t want a part of your rank food! Please close this shop for the love of man.

a family member ordered a fish supper from here and it was re-heated and she felt ill for the next couple days definitely not risking ordering from here again

We got a delivery on Tuesday night I got penne carbonare it was more like soup penne carbonara it was stone cold so phone the shop back and got a very arrogant young lad on the phone we got it delivered and when we phoned and told him what happened we get from there once twice a week he turns around and says what do u want me to do about it we said send a new one but not a soup or cold his words where I am not going to do that so we said to him why not we don't gave to. He then hung up the phone so we called back we asked to speak to the manager his words where I am the manager we asked how he was going to sort it out and his answer was you come up to the shop and sort it out 1star I would have went lower but need to give a star rating will not be back and if he is a manger he needs to be taught customer services skills

Cancelled my order 10 minutes after placing it as I had to attend an urgent family emergency and wouldn’t be home in time for the food arriving as I was told it would over an hour, so for that reason I assumed my order wouldn’t have even been started yet. Was told I was never allowed to order a delivery ever again because of this.. the order was only £6.80 I offered to pay this as I felt they were offended and I was hung up on!!!

Horrible stale food. Guess the Food hygiene people haven't visited during covid. 1st time using, also last.

Now I have used Mari Blu for several years now, previousl when Joe owned it it went downhill over the course of a few years and then over the last 3 to 5 years it was taken over again. Initially the food was ok but slowly standards started to slip and my visits became less frequent. I started ordered " Special Fish " as this was always cooked from fresh and was naver sitting on the fryers being kept warm. Sadly the quality of this even went poor. So During this lockdown period i started getting deliveries. Now I have done deliveries and the vast majority use heated bags that manage to keep the food hot or as hot as possble. Last night 03/02/2021 I called about 18:00pm for a " Special Fish " to be delivered. I was told up to 90 minutes on delivery, Not a problem I replied as I was happy to wait. I never realsied the food would be out in a car for the whole 90 minutes because when it arrived covered in rain/slow and not inside a heated bag I asked the delivery person how long was it in the car for, 5 minutes I was told. Bottom line if there was an award for the coldest food delivered then Mari Blu would win hands down. Mari Blu, give your customers the service they are paying for, use heated bags or something to make an attempt to keep the food warm.. Cold deliveries = No customers + no business... without us you are nothing yet we get the worst service and the food, well don't get me started...

Make you sign up to order and then bombard you with marketing texts that you have to pay to opt out of. Emailed them 5 times and i am still being harassed by this horrendous company - do not use them. There are many better options in town.

Great customer service, girls and the young boy are working under great pressure and still manage to smile and try their hardest to be as quick and attentive as possible, don't know what's changed but the frying side seems to have improved massively, continue the good work guys

Absolutely fantastic chip shop including staff in particular young stuart. Always happy and pleasant when i walk in. Not many young lads that take to a job so well. Will defo be returning and would highly recommend.

The food here is amazing and usually lassies r really nice but they have a young lassie and boy working there and their attitude is all wrong the way they greet and talk to customers is disgusting they really need proper customer service training I won't be back

Used this place for the first time and it was awful! We waited over an hour and a half and when it finally arrived, it was cold and the mixed kebab meat was like charcoal. U didn’t even know what you were eating other than the small amount of doner meat. The chips were soggy. It was a waste of £20 as it all went in the bin. Would not recommend!

Waited nearly 2 hours for a delivery to have my chips and cheese come with hardly any cheese, the delivery was missing 2 items all together and they still charged me full price. Never ordering from here again.

Nice and clean chippy chips were good as well. Sells alcohol and has a few chairs at window to sit and eat.

Don't understand the fake profiles trying to bring a business rating down, staff are friendly in this shop, they go over and above to meet your needs and work at a very fast pace clearly trying their hardest to keep customers satisfied. I have been in this busy shop and have seen just how much pressure the staff are under trying to keep a steady flow without mistakes

Slow service in the sense when I ordered a king rib they forgot to put one on, waited 15 then when I did go to eat it, it was wafer thin under the batter

Dont know if it's new staff recently or the staff you have just cant be bothered!! Ive just waited a hour and half for my delivery for it to come freezing, the pizza crunch I couldn't eat it was brick hard and my son's fish was cooked in dirty oil as it has little black bits all over it!! The past few times now I've not been impressed!!

wrong order many times order a pizza and some ingredients are missing .serve their regulars first and leave you waiting. could also do with changing the cooking oil more regularly..not recomended.

Nice F+C shop. They even do Gluten Free chips. Just don't ask for Vinegar as they didn't know what Spirit Vinegar was and tried to serve me Malt Vinegar!!

On entering the chip shop the 3 members of staff were in the back of the premises talking, after about 5 minutes someone came to take my order. I was the only customer in the shop and it still took nearly 30 minutes for my order to arrive which is why only one star awarded.

Kebabs are amazing even delivery of food arrives hot and tasty won't go past them
