Hadn't called in for ages. But the Cod and Chips and a can of Dandelion and Burdock pop were absolutely delicious, even better than i remember. Definitely going back on my next week off!! If you don't want a long wait, my advice is to go early, as the queue will be a very long one!!

Best chip shop in the whole of Derbyshire, but went today, and the chips were nothing like what are normally. Don't mind the long wait to get perfect chips, don't know what happened today. Hope it's just a one off

Great little chip shop but they take large telephone orders so if your just popping in be prepared to wait a long time. Only one person making up orders and serving customers in the shop. I used up 25 minutes of my 30 minutes lunch break waiting and almost walked out.

We have been here for many years and always enjoyed fish and chips, unfortunately it has sucome to shrink flation,the fish is so small for the price and the batter on the fish is soggy and not crispy,we tried it again hoping it was a blip but it was the same.We will have to look for another chippy.The chips and mushy peas are good and you get a good amount.

This is an excellent chippy it has people queuing outside to get in! It's a sociable wait having a chat, you can preorder, but the fun is having a chat in the queue. The food is freshly cooked excellent quality and served in newspaper just like it used to be

Always very busy. Lovely food and quite possibly the best fish & chips in Chesterfield. It's a shame they only open at lunch time. The only reason for my 4* rather than 5* is because this place is cash only. I feel that this is totally unacceptable in 2023.

Wonderful secret chippy. You have to be in the know. Very busy always a queue but food is being cooked all the time, so lovely and fresh.

Back to the 60s chippy. Everything fresh & tasty like it used to be!!!! Only opens at dinner time Wednesday to Saturday.

This is a hidden gem of an old school chippy! Everyone who’s ever heard of Margaret’s chippy in Chesterfield, loves it! Let's be honest no other place comes close. This place is a Family owned chippy that's been running for years and is like a chippy in the front room of a house which is down a side street off Whittington Moor. This chippy has no big sign outside, so if you drive pass, you would miss it. There is usually a queue outside which says it all about the Quality food on offer. The chips are absolutely amazing! And the fish is good too! They even do fish bits which are the crispy battered bits that come off in the oil! I had never had them before having them here, but they give that extra crunch to the Chips and I totally recommend them! The fish and chips are smaller portions that are served in the traditional old style way in newspaper which is a lovely touch and the portion sizes reflects in the price they charge. You will still feel satisfied with the portion size as the food is so good! Can’t recommend this place enough! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had where ever I have travelled in the UK! 5 Stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This is a hidden gem, unless you are from chesterfield & even then i don't think everyone knows about. Be prepared to queue ( yes it's that good ) I personally love love love her homemade fishcakes they are to die for. I have never been & not had to queue & that's before she opens. she has been there many years with i believe her mum had run it beforehand. Be there in plenty of time so as to make sure you get some. only opens Thursday thru to Saturday. To top it off both her & her husband are 2 of the most loveliest people to meet

Just 3 things wrong with Margaret's, 1st is there's always a long queue, 2nd they only open in the afternoon and 3rd they're not open every day. But if you try it you'll understand why it's so popular. Possibly the best chippy in the country.

A lovely small business owners nice too. Traditional take away chippy beautiful chips, And the fish you must try as it's definitely the best around. The down side is its situated on a side street with little car parking spaces so may take a bit longer but it's worth the waiting!!
