Manchurian Chinese Restaurant in Dundee City

The best Chinese restaurant for a long time. Wonderful food and service. amazing Crispy Duck and pancakes.

Ordered special fried rice and curry sauce. Got to be one of the worst I’ve ever had. Some meat was impossible to identify and didn’t taste like anything I would recognise, chewed once and put back on plate. Rice tasteless and greasy. Curry sauce lumpy and claggy. Hubby ordered prawn curry which was just passable. Would not return.

Shame, 2 special Birthdays, 10 of us for a meal, £320 later, 2 or 3 part of starters appeared, 20 mins later the next few then so on, 45 min empty plates sat then finally someone came took another drinks order (after us going. Searching, Main meals were worse, 3 or 4 arrived, then another few, they forgot about some and then by time sides arrived for main meal, some Of them were finished. Simply told ahh short staffed, No apology no nothing, Shame as recommended by friends Waste of £320 no sincere apology and meals ruined

Made a regular return visit here, based on previous visits. The menu has shrunk in choices once more. The place was still very busy with both dining in and takeaways. The portion size seemed to have been reduced very slightly, but the quality has remained the same. The service on the night was by only two servers, (not sure why). Nevertheless the two girls did a wonderful job. That said, as the place was full, we did have to wait quite a while between ordering and receiving our courses. They had a special homemade mango desert which was recommended. We tried it and were disappointed. Although it taste slightly of mango it didn't ring any bells, and what we received for the price we paid was poor. Avoid this item. Not worth it. We will return, but may wait a wee while.

Went at just before 3pm and was disappointed to be told was closing till 5pm.Went back later and was glad we did food was amazing along with service would definitely visit again

This is really the best Chinese in Dundee. God knows how the place isn't packed to the rim every night, it deserves to be. The owners travel through from Glasgow every night, that's dedication for you! You are usually given one on one service when they can, is just a delight to go here. Keep up the good work.

Brilliant yet again and the owner has a brilliant sense of humour and the food is first class 👍my first time trying chickens feet that to be honest doesn’t sound that appealing but they are delicious 😋 we now have the confidence to ask for his recommendations which have been totally delicious 🤤 I’d highly recommend the Three Roasts £18.00 which is Roast Duck Roast Pork And Roast belly of Pork brilliant but this visit I asked for his recommendation which started with the chickens Feet (delicious) then a sort of mixed meat with sirloin chicken pork King prawn 🍤 and duck roast again delicious 😋 with several starters (5) and 4 meals with 6 drinks (soft) the final bill was only £110 Add the £20 we gave as a tip it is extremely delicious tasty and good value

Having booked elsewhere only to find that it had closed a couple of weeks ago, we walked around and found The Manchurian. Beautiful food and very friendly staff. If we're in Dundee again, we'll certainly be back. Thank you.

Picked up a takeaway while visiting Dundee. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was extremely good, so much better than your typical takeaway, but still excellent value. Very much recommended and worth making the effort to get over to.

I haven't visited since before COVID but we made last minute plans to go for dinner. We hadn't booked but tables were available. The restaurant was busier than when I've visited before which was nice to see. The food was excellent. We had Thai spring rolls and king prawn toast to start followed by honey chilli chicken and chilli beef. You can tell the food is made fresh, good quality ingredients and really tasty. The only downside was the service. The staff were friendly but not attentive. Slow to take orders, clear plates etc. I can't wait to come back again to try some more dishes!

This was proper Chinese food in all its glory. Such an amazing choice - the duck was delicious and the seafood in broth was exceptional. Dim Sum was also excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful too.

Visited the Manchurian for the first time after reopening after refurbishment. As always the service and food were excellent. This restaurant prides itself on producing excellent food in a welcoming and friendly manner. The restaurant was quite busy but the service was efficient. A family run establishment serving delicious food.

I have been regularly traveling from Perth to visit this restaurant for years. The food is excellent and 100% authentic Chinese cuisine. No sticky, overly sweet sauces with bland main ingredients which seems to be the acceptable norm everywhere else. Go for the traditional menu, get something authentic and savour the delights. I would happily travel further to experience this. Oh, and by the way, the service is top notch and the serving staff super friendly and knowledgeable too.

Believe this is a sister restauarant of one of our favourite Chinese places in Aberdeen. There were four in our party and we selected a banquet option, food was plentiful and just kept coming. Extremely good food, which we all enjoyed In Dundee, go visit.

Shocking do not go there. They charged £4 for two tins of soft drinks then had the cheek to add a £3 service charge onto my bill. When I go home I messaged them to try and sort this and they haven't even been bothered to reply. Food was ok but cost £33 for two main courses and two tins of diet coke. Robbery. If they had acknowledged me and tried to sort it is have been more than happy but it's the fact they're not. I don't rate the customer service atall

Visited here on Saturday night, food was absolutely delicious, service was fast and friendly staff. When I ask for the bill the staff tell me they are doing a special offer for customers who spend £50 or more get 10 masks for free.This is a very good idea and just surprised me. I would highly recommend and will be back.

Been to the one in Aberdeen so thought we would try this out during a 2day trip.Thought we would share starter of ribs ,well 4x2in long ribs came,hardly enough for 1 so left to my wife. My main Volcanic chicken was far to oily and hardly any chicken under the batter,(I also had very bad stomach next day).My wife’s prawn dish was passable but lacked taste. Poor value and they also add on 10%service charge, never again.

The restaurant was very quiet so a table was not a problem. Orders were taken we had half Peking duck. Whilst the food was warm when delivered it cooled quickly. (due to the room being cool). The mains were arrived in dishes were cold and the plates were cold. Therefore the food was congealed quickly. Whilst this was good the cold plates and cold room would find it difficult to recommend this place.

I've previously visited the Manchurian and the food was just as good. The downside is the restaurant lacks atmosphere and it was very cold which spoiled our visit. The restaurant wasn't very busy and it covers a large space but the radiators weren't on and the food got cold very quickly. Customer service was ok but the waiter was a bit over enthusiastic not allowing us sufficient time to look at menu and taking out plates seat as soon as we put the utensils down. If you are just interested in good food then the Manchurian would fit the bill but if you are looking for atmosphere and great service you would probably go elsewhere.

We ordered quarter of duck which was shredded at the table , then crispy shredded chilli beef (the best he has ever had then I ordered the special curry ( again the best I have ever had . A beautiful romantic Pre wedding meal thank you guys A MUST VISIT !!

My daughter chose this restaurant. It is a bit cold in ambience with plastic table cloths and quite stark which put me off but I promised my daughter I’d try it. I’m so pleased we did. Our Chinese waiter was helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. Probably one of the best Chinese meals I’ve had in Dundee. There is a little Chinese supermarket below which we visited and they have some great products. There is a little car park but we parked in the gellatly street car park which had no time limit.

My partner and I went for set meal for two, which was lovely and excellent value. Service was spot on, friendly waiting staff and Manager also on restaurant floor making sure customers were happy.

i was looking for an authentic Chinese dining experience but what found was a freezing restaurant with no atmosphere whatsoever. The waiter was friendly and nice but no helpful at all and very focused on making me spend as much money as possible.

A family meal disastarously gone wrong. Drinks were served flat and once changed still had less fizz than a bottle of water.

Visited here following a recommendation from friends. On arrival we were quickly seated and our order taken. We noticed most of the other customers were Chinese, so always a good sign.

Staff, with limited English, were very friendly- thank you.

El Manchurian es un restaurante maravilloso si pides el menú correcto. Si parece no asiático, recibirá automáticamente lo que me gusta llamar el menú chino británico, que ofrece todo lo que hace para llevar. Es bueno si eso es lo que buscas. Sin embargo, el verdadero negocio es el menú chino. Pídalo y podrá probar el verdadero negocio. Es por eso que irías a Manchurian, no por su menú de inglés británico. Personalmente me encanta la comida y disfruto la comida china real y me ofende un poco cuando dejaron de ofrecer el menú alternativo. Cuando abrieron por primera vez, ambos menús estaban disponibles, lo que parecía mucho más inclusivo.

Visité con un amigo El servicio fue excelente. El camarero fue educado y sirvió nuestra comida en un tiempo razonable. La comida sabía bien y, a diferencia de mucha comida china, no me dio sed después. Sospecho que hay poco o ningún MSG en la comida, lo cual es genial.

A quick bite to eat before shopping and cinema in town - very good food, reasonable prices and quick service on a Saturday afternoon. The food was presented in 'true' dim sum fashion and we enjoyed all 7 plates a lot!

An excellent menu with a great choice. We always know that it's a good choice when there are a lot of either local or Ethnic People eating and enjoying. Great atmosphere and well within our price range. We will be back.

My son took me to Manchurian whole saler frist, then we spoke to the staff and they said about the restaurant, so we deside to give it a try.

So disappointed with The Manchurian , Dundee. I had high expectations and was let down. Table for 4 people 7.30 in the evening. Ordered the Ultimate Banquet £30/head and 1btl red wine 1btl white wine. After 15min we received our drinks. After 3/4hr received dim sim. After 1 hour received Crispy Duck. After another half hour i handed £40 for the wine, apologised to the waiter but wasn't waiting around any more. NO MANAGERS it was a disgrace. Private room up the back was getting all the attention. You were lucky we paid from the wine. I was concerned that the waiters/waitresses would have to pay. They tried their very best.

Simply not good enough. Food nice but the service is embarrassing people walking out without paying after 2 hours.
