Mancain in Daventry

For over 25 years I have enjoyed Daventry takeaways & The Mancain has never disappointed me. Here are some of the recent dishes sampled in September & October 2024: [8] Spare Ribs Chilli & Salted: Large and small ribs, fall off the bone salty Chinese spiced meat with plenty of sliced onions, spring onions, chopped garlic and spicy sliced red chillies. These are Really VERY GOOD ribs. [54] Chicken with Green Pepper & Black Bean Sauce: Lovely soft chunks of chicken, big chunky mixed peppers and onion petals in a rich, dark, slightly smoky and bitter black bean sauce. LOVELY. [68] Chicken in Oyster Sauce: I really enjoyed the simplicity of flavour with stir-fried big chicken chucks, Chinese leaves, sliced onions & carrot ribbons in a thick, aromatic, garlic & oyster mushroom sauce. [78] Beef in Satay Sauce: Plenty of thinly sliced, perfectly cooked beef, sliced peppers and onions in sweet and spicy hot peanut flavoured sauce. AWESOME. [146] Beef Kung Po: Ample slices of soft beef, onion petals, cashew nuts, peppers, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in a ferocious hot yet slightly sweet & salty red sauce. Now that's what I Call a KUNG PO! 😋 [9] Curry, Special with Fried Rice: Big chicken chucks, sliced Chinese Roast Pork, King Prawns, ⅓mushrooms & BIG onion petals in a light coloured thick ginger spiced Chinese curry sauce. Simply delicious. 156] Spicy Plain Chow Mein Portion: RAMMED FULL of dry fine egg noodles, occasional Beansprout and big onion slices coated in a fairly dry, very hot and salty curry glaze with a hint of something middle Eastern. AWESOME SPICY DELIGHT. [Portion] Egg Fried Rice: The best egg fried rice. Simply delicious individual grains of golden brown rice without being greasy or clumpy I've ordered online via the website, telephone or just dropped in (Easy Parking). Delivery is charged by a Zone system, is reasonably charged and ON-TIME. I've never had an incorrect order and always freshly prepared, reasonably priced & piping HOT. The staff are always Friendly & Polite. Attention to detail with food quality, aroma and flavour are paramount and the MANCAIN Delivers in spades. Overall EXCELLENT service & food. I order from here on a regular basis and the food has always been consistently done to a high standard. Food always fresh and full of flavour. Never had any issues even when I've had to make slight changes to certain dishes, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I won't go anywhere else and would highly recommend.

I stopped going here around 2 years ago and decided to give it a try again today. Never again. Chips wernt fresh. 100% reheated and tasted gross. The sweet and sour chicken had no flavour, chewy chicken(reheated I think) and 1cm of sauce at the bottom that didnt taste very nice. I wouldn't recommend.

Food hit and miss tbh sometimes excellent sometimes really poor don't use that often this is why

ordered a meal tonight 29th dec over the counter and waited for it and on taking it off the lady got it home only too find out again an item was missing and my meals went cold as all I got let me check your order so you think I’d phone about an item missing just for them to disbelieve me.what do we have to do check our order before we leave the shop as they cannot be trusted to get them right so my custom and service is not respected

Ordered chicken curry and chicken balls, chicken balls were awful with more uncooked batter than chicken, curry was edible but not the best in town, would not return or recommend!

Honestly , it was terrible. We ordered Chips, chicken & prawn balls , savaloy , mini spring rolls , chicken and sweetcorn soup , 1/2 chicken balls. Chips where just greasy with no seasoning. Chicken and prawn balls , the batter to meat ratio was extemreme numerous times we just had a mouth full of batter. Savaloy was nice. Mini spring rolls where okay but still greasy. Chicken and sweetcorn soup was just bland had no flavour. I don't think we will be ordering from here again. You can see from the image , 1 half of the chicken ball was just batter.

Great food, good flavours and priced at what you would expect. Very friendly and helpful when you not sure about what dish you are after. Been using water margin for years but got too expensive and stopped all you can eat so decided to try somewhere else. Mancain is now our first choice for price and taste.

Best Chinese in Daventry Imo. Kung Po king prawns + plain chow mein Yummy 😋

If you like your chicken fried rice done with a ton of salt, then you might enjoy it. Chicken Satay was undercooked.

Best chip shop in Daventry. Plus you can get Chinese food here as well. Staff are friendly and the food is of a very good standard.

Sadly not as good as it used to be. The food was really greasy and the ribs were too dry and tough.

They kindly accepted to change our order for fried rice into a vegan option with no eggs. I forgot to specify about not eating eggs, which is a part of the usual fried rice dish. Thank you Mancain Team for this generous gesture! For Vegans - be specific with your preferred diet, Mancain Team will make it "WOK"!

Where to begin. Pre-ordered online and food was 40 minutes late than time given. Called after 20 minutes and told order had already left and no apology. Either they were lying about it leaving or the food sat in the car for over 20 minutes, either way it’s an appalling way to treat customers. Some food had spilled in the bag and others were inedible. Had one mouthful of soup and threw away as it tasted disgusting. Rest of the food was overly greasy, bland and lukewarm. Also spending over £20 I would expect free prawn crackers, like all other takeaways, but no. Won’t be buying here again.

Order from here lots and have never had a bad meal, portions are really good, food very tasty and arrives hot and on time. Excellent service wouldn’t go anywhere else 👍

Food great, large menu items, fast service and reasonable prices. Tweaking orders for allergic reasons or simply down to individual taste is never a problem. Yet of late they seem to close of an evening when ever they feel like it. Of course that is their choice and ultimately their decision but it is rather frustrating as a customer! This evening they close(d) at 9pm, yet me wanting to order at 8.50pm was a no go. I realise i left it a little late but i didn't appreciate being told I'll just have to wait until tomorrow. They now have a website with the full menu; inclusive of the chip shop items, prices and contact details etc. which is really handy as I never seem to have up to date take away menus! Maybe a time for the latest acceptence of telephone orders could be included on the website to avoid disappointed customers.

Love this place, bonus of best chips in town along side never fails Menu. The staff are also great, always a family treat and more than well worth trying if you haven't before.

Thought I would treat myself to some Fish & Chips as it was a Friday. Waited an hour and 10 minutes for my delivery. In the 9 years I have lived in Daventry, this was by far the worst fish I have ever attempted to eat.

Definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways in Daventry. Service is also very fast (collection or delivery) and the food has always been good. They accept card payments at your doorstep too which is a real bonus.

What another favourite meal from Mancain. We had a tasty beef curry with fried rice, juicy good sized chicken balls and chilli salted spare ribs. Alk were delicious and arrived well within the 40 minute timeframe I was given and loved that I can pay at the door with card keep up the good work!

Just want to say how I love food from Mancain. I love how you can choose exactly how spicy your food is. Hard to decide which is my favourite meal but think I’ll go with the chilli salt chicken. I also have to say that all the delivery drivers I have come across have been lovely.

Yet another awesome meal from Mancain. Love the choice of kids meals and meal deals from only £2.50. Staff always polite and food got a tasty. Never had a bad experience

First time trying today, really disappointed, very underwhelming. Beef curry was 90% onion, sauce was super watery. Prompt delivery, not much of a wait at all.

Had a takeaway delivered sat 14th. It came quicker than estimated and was delicious.. rang back to add mushrooms in black bean sauce as my lil boy loves them.. it was no problem. Great to see they are back on track with brilliant service and food as have always used this takeaway.. just hope this stupid panicking over corona doesn't affect them . Well done guys..if i get isolated you are my daily meal. Lol

Ordered English food and got the wrong order then when u phone they have the cheek to say they undercharged won't be going back in a hurry

I can’t say I am a lover of Chinese food, but I have had several takeaways from Mancain and they have been just about faultless. The price is right the quality is good, what can possibly be wrong with that?

As always had a takeaway Sunday and as always it was lovely. Really hot and delivered in good time..

Affordable and tastes good but theres a load of MSG and salt in the food.

Another take out last night it was delicious as always and piping hot. I have put they take bookings what i mean is you can book what time you want food delivered.

Haven't used this chinese for nearly a year,we used to use it weekly. The food and service had gone backwards... BUT we tried it again last night. And the food was much,much better. We really enjoyed it. Hope they can keep it up.

I ALWAYS get my chinese food from the Mancain its always hot and delivered within a reasonable time. The food tastes great and i always have some left for the following day.

Having used this Chinese takeaway for 9 years we have finally stopped using it. The food quality has deteriorated sadly, perhaps they’ve had a change in management? We recently ordered our regular meal for four people. Arrived in 40 minutes which was fine, however one item had an issue with the chicken, it was gooey?! And not as hot as the noodles 🤢 . Called to report the issue and was offered an alternative and difference refunded. After 35 minutes the replacement single item arrived (seaweed). It was off ... it smelt like gone-off Kale 🤢 and not salty. I drove to the takeaway to return it and was asked not to order from them again if I didn’t like their food. They refused to test the returned food (our pallets nor expectations have changed, it’s the food and service). We’ve also recently defended the takeaway from other friends poor feedback to us too. What a real shame. They used to be so good. I do hope they take on everyone’s constructive feedback as there is an opportunity to improve on their customer service and more importantly the food quality. I hope to return one day if I hear good reviews once again and have assurance of the turnaround.

Terrible, took the best past of 40 minutes to get basic chip shop order, will not use again and will definitely not be reccomending, shambolic.

From time to time the delivery person will forget the drinks... and the CHIP quality varies

Just had a fabulous Chinese from Mancain. Fresh hot and very tasty. Thoroughly recommend. Delivered as stated.

Rang at 7 pm on 12 oct.. our usual takeaway.. was told may be upto 40 min wait.. at 8.25 our food got delivered! Always use this place... hungry kid.. now past it.. never been let down before... now just don't want it! Was cancelling as they turned up.... so sad

We get a weekly takeaway from mancain and its always delivered within 45 min unless they state otherwise on the phone. The foods always hot and never wrong

Order for delivery regularly.. always quick service and hot good tasting food.. my favourite takeaway. Even when we moved recently still got the same quick service. Chicken and mushroom chowmein is great . And highly recomend the chilli salted chicken.

Disappointing takeaway experience tonight. Made a telephone order for a delivery and told it would be quick ('we're only 2 mins down the road') however had to chase a couple of times and had food eventually delivered 55 mins later. The quality of the food was distinctly average - the beef curry was bland and the spare ribs fatty. To top it all off I was charged £16.40 for a meal (according to the Mancain on line menu) that should have only cost £13.40! Overall not great.

The food is really good. Shame that it's so difficult to get through on the phone - today for instance I've been trying to get through for fifteen minutes but constantly engaged. I'm a regular customer but am fed up with this being an issue now, and will go somewhere else. Disappointing.

Solía ser un brillante para llevar ahora me encuentro este lugar es una decepción en cada nivel. He tenido mi comida apareció a finales de manera muchas veces vayan ahora teléfono para preguntar dónde está mi comida y me dijeron que en camino estará con usted pronto, luego media hora hora después todavía no aquí. No felices en todo!

Dealt with these for years Never had a duff meal yet. Delivery service means a can have a drink and eat at a time to suit me. The English selection (fish & chips) is second to none

Never had a bad meal in the 3 years we have been using them. Even travel from another county (22 mile round trip) because the food is sooooooo good. Defo recommend to anyone.

By far my favourite Chinese takeaway in Daventry; very polite and helpful staff on the phone, quick delivery and good food portions. Sweet and sour chicken balls are my favourite and the ones from Mancain are the best, really big and not greasy at all.

Really good food, and very reasonable, you get a whole duck breast in plum sauce for £4.70! By far the best Chinese food and the roast pork and chicken chow mein is the best

This is my "to go to" place for Chinese, always delicious, fast service and lovely staff. It's a shame they don't deliver to our village, although I would probably be the size of a house if they did ☺️

Can't fault their chinese cooking skills so thats good, but if you want a pie and chips I'd avoid that like the plague, I've never had a microwaved pukka pie before and I have to say I won't be having one again.

we use this Chinese all the time.. have done for years. . never had a bad meal , always delivered nice and hot. and good value for money... only down side is when they shut up for a months holiday we have to try the others and there is just no match.

Having tried almost all the take-away establishments in and around Daventry, I always return to the Mancain to "benchmark" their food style against the rest. Meals are always freshly prepared and taste great! The Mancain is a little out the way, but the FREE delivery service is a must and always served with a smile and piping hot. I'd recommend it and at a reasonable price too!
